I did asked who was Mister Dee, curious as it's a weird combo menu, well I was not aware Mister Dee was the restaurant there before they bought the place. Great marketing to leave them on there and the menu for people who were familiar with Dees. Spot is a cute vibe. Tons of TVs, spacious and even has a Majlis area, which we happily sat in! Even though I needed to people help me back up, the experience was fun! The service was top notch. Two woman took care of us. Super friendly and helpful, as we had some questions on the food. Kind wish they always put pictures of the food on the menu so you at least get an idea of what the dish is when you not familiar with the dishes. But, she was very helpful and super nice. The food.. excellent! Serving sizes are large. The food came out piping hot, fresh and again delicious. We started with the chilli chicken and chicken Pakora. They came out with three side sauces, not sure what they were but all three were tasty. The chilli chicken was white meat chicken, super flavorful with a nice spice level. The fry on the pakora was good and seasoned well also. For my meal I went with the paneer butter masala. This dish was amazing. Came with a side of rice which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. There butter masala is so dam good! I'm a big cheese girl so I went with the paneer, just YUMMMMM. Dipped it with garlic naan, which again so good. The naan was crispy on outside and nice soft on the inside with just right amount of garlic. We also got the sesame naan which was good as well. My two friends for there meals went with the Chicken Tikka and the Chicken Haleem, they both loved. Our server over heard it was my birthday lunch so she brought us out Gulan Jamun. What a find! upon walking in, we were greeted warmly, seated in a comfortable area. within sight is an area blocked off by folding screens for people to pray; rugs provided. Once the people stepped behind the screens, we could not see or hear them. An authentic experience. on the opposite side of the restaurant from where we were seated is a seating area where you can sit on the carpeted floor and eat at low tables. We enjoyed, for ~ $20.00, Pani Puri (Gol Gappa), Chicken Seekh Kabab (Single), Bindi Masala and plain paratha. We later added an order of barfi, which sounds disgusting but is an interesting dessert. I visited this place for dinner when i stayed at buffalo for one night. I visited with my husband and daughter. The ambiance of the restaurant was good representing typical Pakistani culture. It was nicely decorated with Pakistani cultural decorative stuff probably imported from Pakistan. The person at the reception was very friendly and we were happy with the service. The food was really below average both in quality and quantity. I live in Toronto so compared to Toronto this was pretty disappointing. We ordered half kg chicken karahi which was never half kg and the portion was hardly enough for two persons and half kg is more than enough for us here in Toronto. The taste the karahi was also nothing like Pakistan or Toronto. Since karahi was not enough so ordered a beef chapli kebab which was a frozen kebab and the taste was awful. I would not recommend it to anyone if you are looking for authentic Pakistani taste. We visited this restaurant when went to buffalo for one night stay. We wanted to visit a restaurant with Pakistani food and found this. The ambiance is nice giving a Pakistani touch and feeling as there were some decorations and paintings from Pakistan. The service was not bad as we were served quickly and the person serving us was very nice. The food was probably the worst Pakistani food i had in a while. We ordered half kg chicken karahi which did not taste like Pakistani chicken karahi at all. The taste was nothing like Karahi. The worst part was the portion was extremely small. We order half chicken karahi in Toronto which is more than enough for 2 people but this was hardly enough for one person. It was certainly 250g and not half kg. We were 2 persons so had to order more. We ordered a beef chapli kebab and to our surprise, it was a frozen kebab which was served. The taste was nothing like real chapli kebab so we were really disappointed. Do not go here if you are looking for authentic Pakistani taste. We regret our decision to go there. read more

I was a little nervous of this south Asian restaurant at first. It was kind of tucked in a low traffic area. When we went in it was empty and the waitress seemed surprised we wanted to be seated. Little bit of a language barrier that caused a couple small, but quickly fixed problems with our order. All that said, when the food came, including chicken kababs, samosas, naan, a chicken dish I can't remember we the name and my wife got a brunch item that came with an assortment of different veggie dishes and bread. All of the food was absolutely delicious. My only complaint is the fairly pricy chicken dish was very small and the chicken was pieces with bones that had very little meat. Taste was great but value was iffy. Most important thing was all of the food was fantastic. The manager (I think) was very kind and made us feel welcome. read more

It's pricey okay, but why is the water tap water? If you want a restaurant to be bougie go all the way. It's pricier than a lot of other restaurants with the same food. The tap water threw me off. Samosa Chicken was delicious ! Best I've ever had, so flavorful. Butter Chicken (Half) was also delicious, only reason im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it does not come with rice. I've never ordered it from a restaurant where it didnt have rice so I wasn't expecting that. $15.99 seems to be alot when it's just a small bowl of chicken that doesn't come with anything. Well, I wish I could do half stars, because I would do 3.5. If you're coming here for the food, then it's pretty pretty good. The service and ambiance were horrible. Let's start off with the name. It's not even Mister Dees. It's nowhere even close to it. I'm all for different types of food, but don't lie to your customer right off the gate. Yeah yeah they still have a "Mister Dees" section on their menu... with like three basic choices, chicken fingers being one of them. But at least change the signs out front lol. I have to say, the food was really good. That's why this place will survive and potentially do well. The ambiance was horrible, the place was dead. There was (I have to assume) a worker doing food orders and having a meeting in the booth next to us. The staff was all either talking to each other or on their phones. We sat for a bit before having to go up to them to get the check. All the TVs were stuck on the same still image. You know what, I'm changing my rating to a 3. I recently had the pleasure of eating at Apna Dera and Mister Dees, and as someone who had always enjoyed its previous incarnation as Mister Dees, I cannot recommend it more highly. While I do miss having a glass of wine or beer with my meal, the experience gave me something to ponder over a drink after returning home. I was not familiar with many of the dishes on the menu, but Nazia Farooqe was very generous with her time, explaining everything, and pointing me in the right direction. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The restaurant looks like it always did, with the exception of a low and long table with floor cushions in one corner which, as I was told, is a traditional and common feature in Pakistani homes. This place is GREAT for folks who want to share American, East Asian, Vegan and Vegetarian food TOGETHER! As a vegan and East Asian food lover, I have found it impossible to find a place that checks all the boxes for me and my more traditional friends. Both styles of food were delicious and of good value. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The ambiance is just what one would like a friendly, neighborhood meeting place to be. My friend loved the old Mr. Dee's, but I never joined her because of the typical American menu. Apna Dera, in the old Mister Dee's, 450 Beach Rd., at the corner of Beach & Maryvale Dr. Head Chef, Nazia Sahar guided us through her menu of wonderful dishes. Everything is fresh and homemade. The level of spiciness is "regular" according to Nazia. If you prefer hotter, she can accommodate :-). We sampled delicious dishes we'd never had before - a dessert of roasted carrots, tandoori and butter chicken with jasmine rice, with a variety of sauces to enhance everything. There are a few Mister Dee's American basics on the menu, but you won't be disappointed if you explore something new. Be a good neighbor and support this new, small, woman owned business by stopping in for lunch or dinner. Worth the trip just to try the fresh, wood fire prepared garlic Naan bread. read more
