I visited this place for dinner when i stayed at buffalo for one night. I visited with my husband and daughter. The ambiance of the restaurant was good representing typical Pakistani culture. It was nicely decorated with Pakistani cultural decorative stuff probably imported from Pakistan. The person at the reception was very friendly and we were happy with the service. The food was really below average both in quality and quantity. I live in Toronto so compared to Toronto this was pretty disappointing. We ordered half kg chicken karahi which was never half kg and the portion was hardly enough for two persons and half kg is more than enough for us here in Toronto. The taste the karahi was also nothing like Pakistan or Toronto. Since karahi was not enough so ordered a beef chapli kebab which was a frozen kebab and the taste was awful. I would not recommend it to anyone if you are looking for authentic Pakistani taste. The only good thing was staff who were very friendly and even gave a free ice cream to our daughter while leaving.

We visited this restaurant when went to buffalo for one night stay. We wanted to visit a restaurant with Pakistani food and found this. The ambiance is nice giving a Pakistani touch and feeling as there were some decorations and paintings from Pakistan. The service was not bad as we were served quickly and the person serving us was very nice. The food was probably the worst Pakistani food i had in a while. We ordered half kg chicken karahi which did not taste like Pakistani chicken karahi at all. The taste was nothing like Karahi. The worst part was the portion was extremely small. We order half chicken karahi in Toronto which is more than enough for 2 people but this was hardly enough for one person. It was certainly 250g and not half kg. We were 2 persons so had to order more. We ordered a beef chapli kebab and to our surprise, it was a frozen kebab which was served. The taste was nothing like real chapli kebab so we were really disappointed. Do not go here if you are looking for authentic Pakistani taste. We regret our decision to go there.

Nice clean space to eat spicy food and relax host is very kind and thoughtful. When a menu wasn't available they allowed a switch out at a discounted rate :) Would eat here again!

It's a hidden gem of Pakistani food. We ordered Chicken tikka, Chuna Dal, Chat papri, chicken karahi, garlic nann. Everything was amazing. They have huge sitting area. Service was really good and friendly. Definitely an authentic Pakistani food. Give them a shit. We came early lunch time so place was nit too busy, but started to pickup.

Come support a minority-owned ethnic restaurant. Pakistani cuisine - chaat, naan, tandoori chicken, seekh kabab, biryani, haleem, daal, lassi, and many more specialties. Desserts such as barfi, kheer, halwas and several types of tea. However, American fare is also on the menu- buffalo chicken wings, Philly cheese steak, fries, etc. Daughter tried the butter chicken (aka chicken makhni) and said it was good. Not great. Portion size a bit small considering the price -$15.99 for half. She enjoyed the mango lassi. I had the chicken seekh kabab with white rice. It was really good, had a spicy kick. Portion size was decent with two kabab pieces. In Cheektowaga. Near the 290. Parking is available. Nice ambiance with some ethinic touches.

Great food and great service. Try Majlis seating. Their nihari is delectable. One of the best desi places in buffalo hands down.

I ordered it to go. Everything was well packaged; sealed with plastic wrap, no items missing. I also want to say, although this is my first time trying their food as I have a favorite spot already, I have picked up other deliveries here and the staff is always very kind! You can dine in as well and the ambience is dark and warm with dark woods. As for the food itself, it wasn't my favorite, but nothing was terribly wrong with it either. I found the korma and especially the karahi more thin than I prefer. I like the "sauce" thicker in consistency. Also, the top note of spices was not my favorite ... but taste is subjective and this is just my personal preference. However, they were generous with the chicken! The vegetable biryani was lacking in veggies too. There were a few peas and mostly chunks of cauliflower. It just sort of missed the mark for me. But I wouldn't advise anyone not to go there or anything; the business has been around for quite a while! It just wasn't my personal favorite given my other choices but I wanted to try a new place for Indian food. Prices were pretty much on par with other Indian restaurants in the area.

I ordered my two favorite dishes Chicken Makhani and Palak Paneer with rice and naan for takeout. The makhani was very sweet and not a lot of flavor beyond tomato sauce, and there were only five cubes of chicken. The palak was either over salted or over garlic'd or both, and the paneer while a generous amount was large dense/dry cubes. Overall, left me disappointed. Only remembered an after picture. Takeout are the smaller black plastic, not the larger ones you typically get with Chinese or Thai takeout.

Well, on the positive side, I had a really nice time in good company. The restaurant was clean,…read morerather spacious, and I certainly appreciated the white tablecloths. We sat at a round table that perfectly fit our group of seven. It was a very comfortable setting, so we could talk freely. We came for "Buffet Night Wednesday," served from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. Around 6:30 p.m., I felt like we were late to the party and should have been grateful there was still some food left. We knew a large group of 25 people would be coming for the buffet that day, but I didn't think it would be a problem. The buffet looked kind of sad to me. I managed to sample almost everything, even Goat Curry. Everyone said it was very good. I passed on the Samosas (not too appetizing looking). Also, I didn't want to commit to the whole piece of Tandoori Chicken, so I checked the Chicken 65 instead. It was nothing like I had tried before, but the bite size pieces were good, plus it wasn't really spicy. Everyone's favorite, Butter Chicken, was very tasty. I had only a small piece of chicken. When I went back for another one, it was gone, only the sauce remained. I think just one dish was refilled during our entire stay. I was hoping for fresh Samosas, but it didn't happen. The Tofu dish was one of my favorites. Luckily, there were just a few pieces hanging around, so there was no risk I could overeat at this particular buffet. For dessert, I had a little white pudding. It was a generic dish you'll find in every Asian buffet, nothing special. We learned that the ownership had changed, but it seemed like it was still a family business. The children were supposed to clean up the dirty dishes, but they didn't. We were surrounded with dirty plates, and none of the employees seemed to care. This was my first visit to Shalimar BBQ & Grill, and I can't compare my experience to previous quality. I can't complain about the taste and flavor, really, but the entire buffet was missing something. Maybe the food? :)

I really enjoyed the Goat Curry & the Aloo Gobi. I thought most of the other dishes could have used more heat. I took a samosa but not sure why. It was very dark & dried out. We found out while there that they're under new management. Going from Southern Indian to now Afghani. That might explain the difference in spices. Everyone was friendly but the service lacked a bit with no one cleaning up the dirty dishes or asking if we needed more naan or water. I'm on the fence with this review 3.5 to 4 so I'll go up to 4. 2025-64

This is a very welcome addition to the Rochester food truck scene. Pakistani / American fusion is a…read moregreat way to describe the food - it packs vibrant, authentic flavors into familiar formats that are tasty, filling and (importantly) easy to eat in a public, non-sit-down setting. Speaking of vibrant, the truck itself has a great design. Through my first two visits I've had: Beef Kebab Burger with fruit mint chutney: The beef on its own carries a ton of bright, herby flavor in a lean but tender patty. When paired with the mildly sweet, cool and bright chutney - plus some red onion - it hits the next level. I could eat these every day. Chicken Makhani with basmati rice: Creamy, savory and spicy with a great balance of tomato brightness and a lingering heat that complements rather than overpowers the other flavors. Seasoned Fries: I couldn't tell you if fries are an authentic thing or not but frankly, I don't care. These are the thin shoestring variety and both times have been fried to perfection. The magic is in whatever concoction of herbs and spices the fries get tossed in. There is a surprising depth of flavor here that I imagine comes from the spices partially cooking down on the fries when they're still piping hot. Every time I think I have the flavor nailed down it hits me with a new layer. The Punjabi Plate: A spin on Rochester's Garbage Plate, with a kebab burger patty, seasoned fries, a very good tangy mac salad, and a meat hot sauce that is reminiscent of the Rochester classic but with enough of a twist to separate it from the norm. As you can probably guess from the prior descriptions, this thing is on point. I'm hoping to see the truck at a lot more events in the near future, because the food is stellar.
