First and foremost, I forgot to take a picture of the chicken karahi - my apologies for this. But I ordered that, as well as basmati rice, vegetable biryani, naan, and chicken korma. I ordered it to go. Everything was well packaged; sealed with plastic wrap, no items missing. I also want to say, although this is my first time trying their food as I have a favorite spot already, I have picked up other deliveries here and the staff is always very kind! You can dine in as well and the ambience is dark and warm with dark woods. As for the food itself, it wasn't my favorite, but nothing was terribly wrong with it either. I found the korma and especially the karahi more thin than I prefer. I like the "sauce" thicker in consistency. Also, the top note of spices was not my favorite ... but taste is subjective and this is just my personal preference. However, they were generous with the chicken! The vegetable biryani was lacking in veggies too. There were a few peas and mostly chunks of cauliflower. It just sort of missed the mark for me. But I wouldn't advise anyone not to go there or anything; the business has been around for quite a while! For no particular reason, it's been a while since I visited or ordered from here so I was excited to come back. I ordered my two favorite dishes Chicken Makhani and Palak Paneer with rice and naan for takeout. The makhani was very sweet and not a lot of flavor beyond tomato sauce, and there were only five cubes of chicken. The palak was either over salted or over garlic'd or both, and the paneer while a generous amount was large dense/dry cubes. Overall, left me disappointed. Only remembered an after picture. Takeout are the smaller black plastic, not the larger ones you typically get with Chinese or Thai takeout. read more

I'm very disappointed with our last takeout order. The quantities were extremely small for the price. Our overall order was over $60. The food was just okay. The hummus was inedible and such a small amount for $8. The malai kofta was the only item I thought was good. It was creamy, spicy and the veggie fritter balls were tasty and had a good texture. The tandoori meat platter was okay but fairly dry. The chutney was good but again, for $5, the container was small and not enough for 2 people. The gulab Jamun was awful. We tossed them. I was really craving some ass blasting curry. This was the first place on my maps app so I took a look at the menu. Upon gazing the options, I came across a mixed meat... uhm I couldn't figure out what the rest said. So I decided to give the restaurant a call. A very snarky young man picked up the line, I said I have a question about the mixed meat dish. He said what about it, n*****. I was absolutely taken aback, as he did not sound like he had the pass, but was wielding it like he was in fact George Floyd's cousin. When those words struck my porcelain ears, I didn't know how to respond. Do not give this establishment your business, as these folks make fun of individuals with speech impediments and tourrets. Absolutely amazing food. Been here 5-6 times now and have never been disappointed. Still the best Makhani I've ever tasted, Korma is very good too and everything on the tandoori dinner is stellar. I love tea and I always get the masala chai tea, it complements any dish you could get very well. If you order a sauce dish (makhani, korma, etc), ordering a side of naan (along with the rice) to dip in the leftover sauce is a must! Highly recommend the garlic naan. I brought three coworkers who have never had Indian food before, or really any food from cultures they're not familiar with, and they all loved their meals. Good service too, my dad's tandoori dinner was taking longer than expected because the tandoor oven takes longer to heat up (we were the first customers of the day for an early lunch), and they offered to add an entire dish on the house to apologize and compensate. He declined (and obviously still got his meal 10 minutes later), they still brought a complementary dessert after our meal (Gulab Jaman, very tasty). read more

Tonight we enjoyed the all you can eat buffet dinner. There was a good selection of hummus, salad, spinach and cheese blocks, chicken tandoori, vindaloo chicken and more. Some items were empty when we went to get food and you could tell it was a popular place for dining! A server promptly brought over hot naan bread and water upon our arrival. However, we had to flag someone down for a menu, drinks, and our check. It seemed like no single person was assigned to us. The servers were friendly and helpful when we asked for their help. The space was bright and open with bright colored tapestries on the wall and ceiling. Small fruit flies were a bit obnoxious during our meal. Overall a great experience ... with room for improvement. We usually frequent here if we want good Indian cuisine. We've had the buffet several times which is served with a side of naan (we ask for garlic). The buffet offers a wide variety of different dishes to try which we usually don't order. We recently ordered take out which was still good but not their A game because of kitchen malfunction. Absolutely disgusting, revolting food and worse than poor customer service. Ordered lamb vindaloo and tandoor wings as main entrees, however the store provided no way of selecting spice levels on their doordash menu, so I expected them to come as one normally would anticipate these dishes being served. EVERY other Restaurant in the world serving a vindaloo does so by making it VERY SPICY - chilis are mixed with vinegar in preparation. They defaulted their order to MILD, meaning the vindaloo arrived tasting of PURE and OVERWHELMING vinegar, absolutely, fundamentally and completely INEDIBLE. The wings were smothered in some sort of tasteless equivalent of barbecue sauce, I would have preferred no sauce to this bland, congealed gutrot. The store also did not provide the basmati rice nor mango chutney that were ordered. Other sides ordered, garlic naan, pakora, raita, lemonade and samosas were ok. The mulligatawny Soup did not however continue the trend of ok, ie tasted like it was old and seemed to continually clump together on spoon. tha acchar pickles, for the price asked, was a pathetic three little pieces. When I called to complain to the store it took them eight long rings to answer and the person on the phone sounded so depressed I first said to them..."never mind" and hung up. When I collected myself and tried to call back the call went straight to voicemail over and over and over. I suspect they knew exactly who I was, and knew how poorly they had done with this order and just blocked me straight away from being able to contact them. Great food, but your online ordering sucks. I have placed online orders through your web site twice. only to arrive 20-30 min later and find out the order wasn't placed. It looks like when you place an order it sits in a queue till someone manually places the order in house. It seems like they are not watching the q. This time order was placed at 7:16pm only to arrive at 7:40 and find out the kid behind the bar forgot to place the order. I could under stand if they were busy, but no one was at the bar. They only had two tables. Just unacceptable. Sat there till 8:05 watch the kid play on his phone. The only way I will be back if to eat in the restaurant. I will not be placing another online order. Went for the dinner buffet special on New Years Eve and that was a bad mistake! Food was below par, cold and looked and tasted stale. Even the desserts were from a can. The "custard" was mango pulp from a can with canned pineapple pieces in it. The gulab jamuns were almost frozen. Instead of paying $26/ person for the buffet it would've been better to eat a la carte. To add insult to injury they added 18% gratuity for a buffet that tasted like prison food! I picked up a take out order from Kabab and the food was absolutely delish. I hand the Tandoori Chicken with rice and some other goodness . The service was take out only and they brought the food packaged up and ready right to the door. The flavors were great, there was just enough heat. The home made naan will have you in heaven. Fluffy, flavorful and soft. The portions were large because I couldn't finish it all in one setting. I applaud the customer service and organization. Sorry this review is so long but this place is worthy of every word. First visit since new management took it over. This experience was even better than the last. They have installed a new bar area which used to be a small bar and an additional kitchen area. It looks and feels alot more open. The dining area hasn't changed much but it was never bad. In the past we have always been seated in the front section near the front windows but on this visit we were seated at the other end of the main dining room where there is a nice fireplace. They also have an additional dining area mostly use for parties and as a second space on busy days. During the summer they have a large covered patio area. We usually go there without a reservation but reservations are recommended on special event nights like free wine tasting nights like the one we attended. Since we had a reservation we were immediately seated at a table that had a Reserved sign on it. Now for the most important part of this review, about the food. On this visit we came on one of their monthly Wine Tasting and Buffet Wednesdays ($14.95 pp). The number of items on the buffet has definitely increased. Tonight one of the dishes was a goat curry that was great. I understand they alternate goat and lamb on the buffets. The chicken biryani was made exactly the way I make it, as a one pot dish, not just the meat in a sauce that is pour over flavorless white rice. When preparing it in one pot, the rice takes on the full flavor of the spices. This is the way it should be prepared, since it is condidered a homemade comfort food in India. Preparing it the other way is equivalent to pouring cheese sauce over flavorless plain pasta, yuck. There were several other meat and vegetarian dishes on the buffet. They have big crock of hot soup and a salad & dessert buffet table. The desserts are limited but that is not unusual in Indian culture. There is rice pudding and my favorite Gulab Jamun which are deep fried donut type balls soaked in sugar water that is absorbed into the balls like a sponge. The buffet includes naan delivered to your table and a cup of Masala tea. There was a choice of 5 wines to taste. You can taste one or all of them. Remember it's a wine tasting so you get a sample pour not a full glass. You can always purchase a full glass if you choose. The host was very friendly and offered a nice greating when we arrived . Our server Lisa was also friendly and attentive but not hovering. The manager (not sure if he is also the owner) Maninderjit, he said just call him Maninder, was delightful to talk with. He was also the one pouring the wine samples at the bar. The food is seasoned without alot of spicy heat which is typical to suit American tastes. I mentioned that I like Indian food spicy hot so Maninder kindly brought me some hot pepper oil to put on my food. Remember to ask for it if you like heat. First of all, I used to really like Kebab & Curry when they were on Transit years ago. We would go there at least once a month as a family, and the food and service was always consistent and pretty good. It was our go-to restaurant when we felt like going out for a curry (or should I say when I didn't feel like cooking and fancied a curry!) Coming from England, where there's an abundance of excellent Indian restaurants almost on every street corner, this was one of the most disappointing things about moving to WNY. After literally trying so so many Indian restaurants all over the area, I concluded that there just wasn't a really great Indian place anywhere in the area. India Gate on Elmwood was probably the best I recall trying, but Kebab & Curry was more convenient to where we lived. I also found Tandoori's not bad on Transit/Sheridan entrance, but the service was really slow and that place closed some years ago. Since moving to Main Street, K&C is just nowhere near as good as it used to be. I have eaten in the restaurant and ordered food to go. Just to see if they may have gotten any better. They haven't. The food is bland, unimaginative, and just not fresh tasting. The service was slow, uncoordinated and just terrible. What happened? OK, so someone told me recently that the place changed hands a few years ago, maybe around the time they moved, and that's probably it. The food is nowhere near like the flavor and quality that it used to be years ago. I made the mistake of ordering from there again a few weeks ago, and I ended up throwing most of it away. It was just horrible. Why would anyone purchase a successful business with a good loyal clientele and good reputation, then just run it into the ground with terrible service and crappy food? If the intent was to destroy a once decent restaurant, then they have succeeded very well! Such a shame! I have decided that I'll never go back to K&C again in the future! I'd have to read a stellar review after an ownership transfer to even think about returning ever again. Until then, I have to drive down to Elmwood to pick up decent Indian food whenever I don't feel like cooking it myself. If anyone has any other suggestions to try, I'd love to hear from you though! I am obsessed with this restaurant's chicken tikka masala. In my opinion, this Indian restaurant serves one of the most authentic Indian cuisines in the area. This restaurant used to have AYCE buffet during a weekday night before COVID, however that is unfortunately not operating anymore due to COVID. When you order your food, you can choose your spice level from mild, medium, spicy, or hot. And when this restaurant says spicy or hot, they are not kidding! (As good Indian food should be). I usually order spicy because I personally think hot overrides the taste of all those good spices they put in the dish. You also have the choice to order naan or rice with your meal. I usually go with regular naan instead of the rice. If you get their specialty naan instead, I believe that is an up charge of $2ish with your meal for the first set of order then $4ish each after. Also I don't have it in the picture but their mango lassi (yogurt drink) is great with your meal especially if you order something spicy to help cool you down. I would definitely give this place a try if you are a fan of good Indian food! read more

My husband and I have been visiting Kabab & Curry for over 9 years. Rarely have we noted any difference in the consistency of the staff or our meals. In short, if you visit "Kabab," you'll get a great meal at a fair price, served with a smile. My husband lived in India for some time and we dine out often. We've tried most Indian/Pakistani restaurants in WNY. In our opinion, Kabab is the best. They may not have the largest menu or trendiest location but the number of return diners sure has grown. No doubt there are many folks that love Kabab as we do. Wednesday is buffet night. Try the fish pakoras, you will soon realize that little bits of spicy fish are a gift from heaven. My step-daughters crave chicken makhani(sp?). Kabab & Curry sells makhani sauce in jars and they are frequently sold out! I told you their food was good. My favorites are the Tava Chicken and the rice pudding (much better than the Greek versions). My husband love the mixed meat platter appetizer and the Tandori Dinner. Knowing that buffalo has a thriving Indian American community and having wonderful Indian meals in the past dinner at Kabab & Curry was thoroughly disappointing. The saag and palak paneer was a dark greenish great and lacked flavor. Both platters of mixed vegetable and meat appetizers were dry with both fish and vegetable Pakoras fried till batter was like bark. The worst part was the tandoori mixed plate. Pale and limp looking nothing like the nice oven roasted exterior you would expect and the bottom of the plate has some sort of garish watery liquid giving the impression that the meat was scooped out of a steam table tray. Went for a weekend buffet. They had three meat options (mostly chicken based) and three vegetarian options (palak paneer, chana masala, Malai kofta). They bring the naan (Indian bread) to the table itself and you can request for butter if needed. I thought everything was pretty mediocre except the rice with peas (matar pulav) and the dessert (kheer), both of which were pretty impressive. The buffet costs about $15 per person which I feel is on the higher end of Indian buffets. The spice level in the buffet was pretty low so I feel it would appeal to non-Indian population more. I probably wouldn't go back myself as I prefer a little more 'flavor' in my food, but I guess if you are into less spicy Indian food, you can venture out there. read more

Not from the area and came on a recommendation as the best Indian in town - wow. So good. We each tried a tea which was delicious, great portion, and came with your own little pot to pour out. We also split the channa masala. The entrees come with either rice or naan. We chose naan and both the channa masala and naan was very good and extremely fresh tasting. I am a HUGE Indian Food fan and we have been customers of Kabab and Curry since 2007 when they had their other location further up Transit Rd and my opinion was they were always the best Indian Restaurant in the area. Sadly that's just not the case anymore. We came here at around 5:30 on a Saturday and were seated quickly, a young server came up and dropped two glasses of water with us without saying a word, then we waited...and waited and just shy of 10 minutes later someone else came up to us to see if we wanted to order food....or possibly maybe a drink other than Water ??? We ordered our food, our waiter didn't ask if I wanted anything else to drink but I requested a Beer, it came back and he just dropped it on the table with the cap slightly loose....like don't you offer glasses for your beverages anymore ? Our food came, we just ordered two Entree's with Naan Breads, they brought out the Masala's and we were halfway through eating them before they brought out the Naan Breads....shouldn't those come out at the same time ?? I ordered a Chicken Makhani with medium spice but instead what I got was a tasty but mild Sauce....I honestly think I could have driven to Aldi about 5 minutes away and picked up something comparable. Finished our food, then waited...and waited....and waited for about another 10 minutes before someone came to us to take away our dishes...I didn't want to wait any longer so I decided to give him my Credit Card, pay and get out. It has been a while since I've come here but I wanted to give it another shot. The renovations here are beautiful and the decor is inviting. One of the great things about coming here is that the menu is SO easy to read with great options here. My review is focused more on the taste of the food itself. We went as a group of 4 and I only tasted my husbands food and mine. We started out with the fish pakoras - they were pretty good, and light - I think this was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered the Chicken Korma and he ordered Lamb Vindaloo. I have to say that while I enjoyed the nuts and cashew in my dish, they really skimped on the chicken. I didn't feel that for the amount I paid I got enough chicken pieces in my dish. Others at dinner felt the same about their dishes. Onto the taste, I felt that while yes korma is general ya creamy dish, the taste became monotonous for a while. The vindaloo was okay, I feel the food could be more flavorful. The taste is dulled down a bit but they are trying to appeal to majority of people. I also was a bit disappointed in the chai I had, I loved loved loved the flavor that I did taste but it had wayyyyy too much cream which dulled the flavor of the chai! I expect a burst of flavor when it comes to Indian food and maybe this was an off day but I felt overall it was an average experience. read more

Husband and I arrived at the restaurant and requested a table for three, as another friend was joining us, and we ordered beverages. No draft beers were available because the machine was down, so Husband resignedly requested a 12-oz. bottle. (He pointed out to me that the bottle was actually 11.2 ounces, so the restaurant should review that.) By the time the server brought our drinks, my friend had joined us, but the server walked away from the table without asking my friend if she wanted anything to drink -- I had to call him back to the table. My friend and I both had specialty cocktails, which were delicious. I ordered a dish with a spice level 3 out of 5, and it had no zip whatsoever. It also contained diced onions, which were not included in the entrée description, and I hate onions (they don't like me either). Whrn I inquired, the server said it was spice level 2, which was not what I ordered. I asked for the dish to be remade at spice level 4 and for there to be no onions in the mix. The remade dish was mild at best, and still riddled with onions. Unsatisfactory. Accordingly, the server said the item would be taken off the bill. I did not see the bill when it came; a device was handed directly to Husband. He told me later that the bill had not been itemized, which is downright CRIMINAL. When Husband told me afterwards what the total was, we *had* to have been overcharged -- either my dish was not taken off the bill, or we were charged for something we did not order, or a tip was already tacked on. In fact, the server even stopped Husband to tell him he did not pay enough, which turned out to be the server's error for charging us twice for one item -- so what other mistakes were made in that tally? The more I think about it, the angrier I get. The busboy was quite polite and attentive, but at the end of the meal he grabbed a napkin out of my hand as I was wiping my fingers. Husband saw it happen and looked at me with surprise. I assume it was a mistake, as there was no acknowledgment or apology, but it capped off an already unpleasant experience. read more

Let me start by saying that what I love most about Kebab & Curry is that they label their menu clearly (GF= gluten free, DF= dairy free, V= vegan upon request). There are so few restaurants in the WNY area that do this which makes it very challenging for those of us who have dietary restrictions to eat out. So thank you!!! I met a friend here on a snowy night in December for dinner. The restaurant was pretty deserted, but the weather was also pretty awful out. Our server was extremely helpful in explaining the different spices and options to my friend who hadn't eaten much Indian food before. My friend ordered the Tandoori Dinner which came with 4-5 different types of meat and some veggies. He couldn't stop raving about the spices and how tender the meat was. I ordered the Baingan Bharta and Chana Palak. Both were delicious and arrived piping hot. The rice & roti were nice accompaniments to our meal.
