Our server was super friendly and patient as we all went back and forth on what to order. We all started with samosas. They were packed with nicely seasoned potatoes and peas. Ever get them where there's more air than filling inside? I ordered the chicken jalfraize, a dish I never had before and was glad i did. We were here for a surprise birthday party. The buffet was set up with two appetizers. One was a potato samosa. The other was a green leaf(unknown plant) that was deep fried. There were two dipping sauces. One was green and chunky(like a salsa) and the other looked like soy sauce. It had a nice kick to it. I ate both the samosa and the deep fried leaves. I liked the fried leaves very much, with the dark brown spicy sauce. Not easy to eat, but tasty. The hot items on the buffet were labeled, but I did not write down the names. One was, of course, rice! Most of the dishes had nice chunks of chicken in them. The Tikka Marsala was my favorite, lots of chicken with the peppers and seasoned sauce. There was also a dish with paneer cheese in it. Also nice, and the paneer does get nice and soft. Another dish was a chicken curry. There were several dishes that were vegetarian. Everything I ate had a nice flavor and some also had some heat/spiciness. I think the lunch buffet is offered 6 days/week. It's $19.95. It's a lot of food for lunch. The curry chicken sauce and lentil soup were both more watery than I am used to to the sauce and broth at Taj Grill is much thicker and creamier. Decent Indian buffet. Seems a little less well known compared to Amherst Buffet, so if you're looking for buffet but want Indian food instead, then here is the place. For $20 a person, you get unlimited garlic naan made to order and 2 buffet bars full of food along with drinks like chai and desserts like gublab jamun. The interior is very clean and pretty quiet, a more rustic vibe. Our waiter was also very attentive and made sure to get us more water and naan as soon as we were done. The food is also very good for buffet food. No complaints with the food at all, everything was great. Everything was also fresh, but maybe because we also came in shortly after opening time. I have a love hate relationship with this place. I dont know what happened a few years ago but I had several bad experiences and I swore it off completely. It was inedible honestly. However, because of COViD-19, they have a bit of a discount on a particular deal website (hint hint), so I figured I'd give it another shot since the prices would be much more reasonable and I wouldn't be too upset if the food didn't live up to my expectations. I have to say they easily get 5/5. This rating pertains to each time I've gone in the last 4 months which has been 4x. The chicken pakora is lightly battered which I appreciate and full of flavor and served with a side of the classic red and green chutneys that is so ubiquitous with Indian snacks and appetizers. The picture shows the chicken makhani dish which is an easy 5/5 but ive also gotten the chicken korma which is more of a 4/5. Id def recommend the chicken makhani without hesitation. When you open the container, the aroma makes your mouth water and creates the illusion you're still enjoying the in-dining restaurant experience. The main dishes are always served with rice so there is no need necessarily for naan which is nice since there are places out there that don't provide this basic necessity. read more

However, the quality of the food makes it clear you're eating a buffet. The service and ambiance are Buffett quality, that is to say below par. Again, only come here if you need a buffet experience. Between errands today, I was overcome by needing lunch -- immediately. Debating pizza, burgers, Chinese... I drove past an entrance to a small strip mall on Sheridan and saw an omen -- I mean a sign: Taste of India. I quickly turned into the exit and saw ... an omen: a parking spot right by the door. It didn't really look open, dark windows, no people around. In fact, I wondered if it had closed for good. It was that empty looking. But then I walked into the shade enough to see that the neon OPEN was, indeed, lighted. I think many people would pass this gem by because of the dark and empty look, which might depend in large part on the angle of the sunlight. Relieved at the sustenance close at hand, I entered, was greeted and seated in a pleasant and friendly manner. And I ate. Zucchini, spinach, potato, chicken curry, goat curry, tandoori chicken... almost a little of everything. And kheer, of course. After my hunger was alleviated, which required only two bites of potato, one of spinach, and a small bite of chicken, I could slow down and really enjoy the flavors. I was thrilled at the heat in many of the items I chose. This was the first Indian restaurant I've gone to where the dishes that should be spicy . . . actually were. Most satisfying. The sauces were delicious and I even had a whole piece of naan to help mop up. I so enjoyed this dining experience that it never occurred to me to take photos. All I can say is, if you enjoy Indian cuisine, stop here for the lunch buffet ($11.95), even if it looks closed. Look closer. You will be glad you did. read more

They've change location but the owners are same and the food is as good or better than ever. Great flavors and amazing variety. Came here with a small group. Many items were wrapped in saran wrap to ensure no spilling which i appreciate! Food was good, but not rave worthy. I did enjoy the amount of veggies added in the chicken tikka masala curry, as I normally dont see that. But i will say the chicken tikka masala had a different taste than what I am used to. Saag paneer was creamy and enjoyable. The basmati rice was amazingly soft and silky. 1 order of rice for $2.95 is the size of an entree sized styrofoam to go box full of rice. I could have easily ordered 1 side of rice for the 2 entrees. Food was provided with 2 chutneys and a small tub of raita (so glad since i forgot to order it!). I have had dinner from this restaurant delivered before with no issues and the food is generally very good. Last night I ordered the Taste of India special, which is supposed to include tandoori chicken, kabobs, and tandoori shrimp, rice, bread, plus choice of chicken/beef curry or cheese/peas. I chose the cheese/peas and it was quite good. In fact, it was all very good and tasty. My only complaint is portions! This has been an issue with a few restaurants lately. They gave me one piece of shrimp!!! One piece. Two pieces of the tikka chicken kabob. Three pieces of tandoori chicken. And two pieces of some other kind of meat that was different. Sikkh kabob? For an entree that costs $19.99, I expected more. Sorry, but I have to say that they wouldn't think they'd be able to get away with that if I was dining in-person. Because it is being delivered, it is harder to complain and get a refund. Who do I complain to? Grubhub probably. By that time, it's already too late to fix my dinner for tonight. I think some restaurants probably know this and try to cheat folks on the delivery orders. What else could I think? It happens more often than I'd like. read more

I came here for a lunch buffet. The food tastes great, I enjoyed it. The atmosphere is nice too - a spacious and neat restaurant. However, I have a few quite serious complaints that might stop me from coming here again. First, the labels only mention Indian names of the dishes, but provide no information about allergens, ingredients and whether the dishes are vegan/vegetarian. It makes it difficult to make responsible choices about your food. like to know what I'm eating. Second, the women's bathroom had no toilet paper in 2 out of 3 stalls and the third one was unusable with a plunger stuck in it. So all in all, not a fan of the place. read more

Paratha was a nice change to regular Indian bread I've gotten from other restaurants. Never had any version of the two entrees before so don't know how authentic it was, but regardless it was tasty. I came here with my dad and husband a few weeks ago because my dad had a giftcard. It was really good! Our server was very nice and friendly and recommended beers for us. Our food came out fast and was as expected. My husband thought the food was amazing and wants to go back again soon.
