Few pros and cons about this hotel, depending on what you're looking for. Pros: location. Perfectly located hotel near all restaurants / bars, not a far walk anywhere really. We really like being close to where all of the action is; nowhere we were traveling to was ever that far for us whatsoever. Cleanliness: this is super important, and we found the hotel to be very clean. Never felt dirty or uncomfortable once, which is obviously very important to us. Cons: wow, this room is SMALL. I've stayed in numerous hotels in Europe expecting the rooms to be small, but not like this. For two (petite) women, we barely fit. Luggages took up all of the open space on the floor. Literally all of it. We have been climbing over them since we got here. Kind of a fire hazard, lol??? I wish I were kidding. Can barely get to the front door with the bathroom door also in the way. The beds are also super tiny, but nothing different than where else I've stayed in Europe. I'd have no problem staying again to be honest, it's just super super cramped. I was in Amsterdam for a conference and this was one of the recommended hotels in the convention block. The hotel has a great location close to restaurants, museums and public transportation. The hotel is clean and safe, the rooms are very small but I have found that to be somewhat normal in Europe. When I arrived, and get into my room, it was just a little to small for me so I called the front desk and they upgraded me for an additional $10 euros a night. The upgraded room was the size of a standard US chain hotel room. The room looked newly decorated, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very modern. I will stay there again and recommend it. read more

I was really impressed with this Best Western. The "deluxe" room we booked did not at all look like a deluxe room, but it was usable and the bed was comfortable. The bathrooms were updated, but the half glass wall in the shower/bath made it really messy and cold while taking a shower. It was hard to keep all the water in the tub because the wall is not very long. It's also a huge step up, so if you're old, request a room with a regular shower. We loved the huge windows that opened up to the canal in our room. We could watch the whole city go by from the bed. The absolute best part about this hotel is the location. It is a very short walk to the Museumplein and the Concert Hall. If you are seeing a concert at the Paradiso, it's across the street. Fantastic locale! read more

I booked three hotels for my Netherlands trip. All the other hotels reimbursed me in full. This was the only one that kept my money and insisted in giving me a credit. I was not the one cancelling. The hotel, and the entire country, are shut down. If the hotel managers were honest and responsible they would reimburse and not insist on a voucher. Disgusting. It's horrible to see how dishonest people are using the covid19 to benefit from others and profit. In tuff times like these, people lose their masks and show who they are. read more

Arrived at Schipol airport and got a train straight to Central Station, I was then able to get on a tram and got off at the Hobbemastraat stop, hotel was just a few minutes walk from there. Arriving at almost midnight, I was happy to see that the main doors were locked but I was able to gain access quickly through speaking to the concierge via the intercom. Check-in was quick and I was able to get up to my room quickly using the main lift. I was sharing a room with a colleague and found the room to be quite small for the two of us and the two single beds had to be pushed together to fit them in. Beds were comfortable although I did request an extra pillow which was left for me the following night. We were able to control the aircon/heating system ourselves, although forgot to adjust it before we left so came back a couple of nights to a very cold room (it heated back up quite quickly though). Bathroom was fantasticly decorated, came with Dove body wash which was a nice touch. Comfortably sized shower and wash basin area with large mirror. The only real downside was that the frosted door was the kind that has a gap at the top and bottom which didn't really provide much privacy. Breakfast had been paid for in advance which entitled me to the continental buffet which offered everything from croissants, fruit, cereal, ham, cheese. There is also the option to add on cooked eggs/bacon for a small charge. I took advantage of this and the scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. The hotel is brilliantly located. Opposite a large eaterie area with the Hard Rock Cafe, Next to major tram routes which will take you into the town centre or you can walk 10 minutes to reach the nearest supermarket/Van Gogh Museum. The concierge were extremely helpful, giving us directions to places, calling taxis for us and ensuring we had a swift check-out when we were running late for our flight. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. read more

We've stayed here twice. The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and clean. We got upgraded to a suite on the top floor which was amazing. The area is really quite perfect, walking distance to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Bols Experience and Heineken Experience. Just far away enough from the hoopla, but close enough with a short tram ride away. Front desk staff was always super helpful. Breakfast is delicious, make sure you get some croissants when they come out of the oven, they're delicious. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Long story short... Showed up at 8:30 PM to check in and was turned away to another hotel (much further away and in a bad location) even though we had a reservation. No advance notice or warning was given prior to walking into the hotel. Not a single email was sent even though they must have known hours before we walked in. They did nothing to improve the situation... the staff basically said too bad, deal with it. Attempted to contact management, only to be rebuffed and ignored. read more

Very nice hotel, fresh towels, clean linen, beds made, what more can you ask for? Nice black marble interior. The walls were thick so the rooms were quiet, beds are comfy, pillows are nice. Shower is luxury, nice black marble tile. Breakfast was a nice spread, always fresh and they had an omelet bar, the omelet was always spot on. Breakfast was not included but if you paid the day before you received a discount. There is no where to park your car, if you do park out front it is €1.00-€2.00 per hour. They do have a service where they phone a guy who comes and parks your car, it is €50 a night, I believe (please don't quote me on that). The front desk will call you a cab anytime you need. Cabs are reliable and fair, didn't overcharge. Not in the heart of the red light district, a decent walk to it, we were lazy and always took a cab. Not the best idea to drive to Amsterdam I learned, parking a car can be a huge headache and very expensive. Would come back again. read more

The location of this hotel is nice. It is located in an upscale area near upscale shops. It is within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum and other museums. About 10 minutes walk max through a safe residential/business area. Nights were quiet at this hotel. I rated it two stars based on long wait to check in, very slow elevator (only one), hallways where dank and smelly (although lobby was nice), and very small rooms with minimal comfort and amenities. As far as Best Westerns in Europe this one was the least nice I have stayed at. read more

Very nice hotel in an excellent location! It is directly next to the Rijksmuseum and the I Am Amsterdam sign. There is a public transport tram stop within walking distance (2-3 minutes from the hotel). You can also catch a canal cruise across the street from the hotel. Employees are very friendly and informative. The hotel and guest rooms are very clean. The rooms are small so keep this in mind if you are traveling with more than 2 people. But small rooms seem to be the norm if you are staying in this city. Overall, we had a great experience at the Apollo and would stay there again. read more

Overall, I was happy with my stay at the Best Western Apollo earlier this month and would probably book here if I visit Amsterdam again. Pros: The hotel is in an excellent location near Vondel Park (5 min walk), Rijksmuseum (5 min walk) Leidseplein (10 min walk), Heineken Experience (15 min walk), and Dam Square (25 min walk). The metro is conveniently located a block away from the hotel, which made it easy to Centraal. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My boyfriend and I checked in around 11pm after arriving late at Schiphol. We had no issues upon check-in. The staff gave us great restaurant recommendations too. The wifi worked well the whole time. I have had issues with wifi in the past when I stayed at a Best Western in Milan. The fresh water and apples in the lobby were much appreciated. I felt better about drinking this water than filling up my bottle with sink water. I didn't eat the breakfast, but my boyfriend did and liked it. Cons: The room was almost uncomfortably small and located in the basement so our window looked up on the courtyard. My dorm room in college was bigger than this room. The queen bed took up pretty much the entire space. The bathroom was also small and didn't offer much privacy (the bathroom door was frosted glass). The water from the shower got all over the floor. I was disappointed with the set-up and felt we paid way too much for what we were given (thankfully we booked at a lower price than advertised due to our AAA discount). No extra pillows or blankets in the wardrobe. Then again, I didn't ask reception if we could have more sent to the room, my bad. We had to basically hammer in our adapters to get them to fit into the outlets (the outlets were circular and our rectangular adapters were almost too wide to fit). Granted, we also had to do the same thing at the Best Western Atrium we stayed at in Munich. Thankfully, we were able to wiggle the adapters out when we left though. It was a bit noisy in our room at night. We could hear people going down the hallway and the people above us. The tiled floor didn't help with the noise factor. read more

I was under the impression that this hotel was going to be run down and in an unsafe area however I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this hotel in Amsterdam. Our flight arrived a little early so we got to the hotel about 8 o'clock we checked in at the front desk, and the guy who checked us in I believe his name was Yurid (??!) was polite and just nice. He did let us know that it was a little too early to check in as the rooms were not ready for us and he offered to store our luggage so that we could explore the area. Though Checking was at 2 he did tell us to check back about 12 p.m. To see if the rooms were we're ready. He also offered us tea and bread from the breakfast bar which was very nice of him. So after exploring for a few hours we came back to the hotel about 11:30 and waited around until noon and the rooms were ready for us. We had requested to be on the same floor and he did get us rooms across from each other which was great. Did I mention how awesome and nice the check in guy was? It's refreshing to meet people this nice. So we head up to the rooms using the lift which was pretty small but if you kind of squeeze in a bit it could fit about 6 people with luggages. We arrived at the rooms which requires key card access and it was a decent size, I guess you could say it was standard European size. It had a bed which was very slim it could only fit one person it had a desk and the chair, a flat screen TV, the bathroom was impeccably clean, and it also had a chest with a mirror. My view was street facing and it also had a mini balcony however there was a stopper at the door they did not allow it to be open, which I felt secure about. There was daily breakfast which was pretty simple not too many options and not that great. They had a few selections of bread, apple juice and orange juice, a few selection of sandwich meat, cheeses, apples, oranges, scrambled eggs, and boiled eggs. The way to breakfast or was when you arrived and he sat at the table one of the women working there would bring you a breakfast voucher which you would fill out with your name, room number, and how many guests came for breakfast. And at the end of your stay they would ad all the days that you want for breakfast which was 12€ (a little too much for the low quality of breakfast) along with the city tax and you would pay the total at checkout. The hotel itself is located in the center of everything you could literally walk to everything from this hotel. It was only a 2 minute walk from vondelpark, 15 minutes from Anne Frank house, 10 minutes from Club Church (read my review on this sinful pleasure for the homosexual community and others who feel comfortable in this kind of an environment ), 5 minutes from food and such. So basically everything and anything that you would want is within the area of this hotel. SIDENOTE: There is a 60€ payment that they hold until you checkout incase of damage, etc. I didnt quite like this because I wasnt advised when i booked the hotel online and so I went through a hassle pf getting that money because I had forgotten my CC home and aside from the spending money I had, I had 60 USD. They weren't flexible on this at all and I was sort of disappointed because it put me put of my way. Amazing location but average property. Right by the canal and a couple blocks from Hard Rock Cafe. Easy walk to light square . However room provided was in basement with steep stairs and NO elevator . It took me two rounds of the corridor to figure that the door that opens for the basement staircase is what leads to the room. Honestly it looked a little shady. Average bed and bathroom is way too small. For the price it is not an option I would go for in future. read more

Hotel is beautiful inside and out! Cleanest and largest room I've seen in my travels across Europe. The bathroom was huge and looked to be newly renovated. They had everything you need a clock, hair dryer, kettle etc. The bed was a good size with fresh linens. All with an amazing view. Don't waste your time booking here. First o was double billed and the I was shorted on the refunded charge. Another party and myself check in the same time. They are upgraded to the same type of room I reserved l, yet my rom is smaller. When I question the front desk, they tell it the same. BS. So they change my room and it's still small. The rooms are dirty and the carpet needs to be changed. Also they want a $150 deposit (I refuse to give them my cc info, pay cash if you can). find another hotel to spend your money with. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We had a terrible experience with this hotel!! Our check-in experience was horrible, with an unorganized staff, who gave us the wrong room...not even large enough for one person with no luggage. I have never seen such a small hotel room in my entire life!! It was only after many complaints that we finally were given a larger room, for which we had to pay $40.00 per night extra...even though we had initially paid for the larger room. It was obvious that they were not able to handle the influx of people checking in. There were no facilities for disabled customers; steep stairs at the entrance made it all but impossible. The location may be good, but the accommodations are seriously lacking in every possible way. Breakfast was included, which was OK. Never, ever book a room at this hotel!!! read more
