Recently remodeled hotel was nice done. Warm an inviting atmosphere. Beautiful bar and lounge area. The staff is warm and friendly. We are breakfast daily in the executive room which was buffet style. I would give it a b+. Selection was routine. The bedroom was small however, the mattress and pillows were a perfect 10. The location was also a 10. Very close to the train station and other transportation. I would definitely recommend this hotel is staying in Amsterdam. read more

The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is a very good hotel for the price. It is centrally located near the Central Station which has trains to and from Schiphol airport. Considering the proximity to the train station it's fabulous that the hotel is situated off the beaten track on a lovely clean quiet street. The beds are quite comfortable with extra length, which my 6'3" husband truly appreciates. Also, we noticed that there are many tall people in the Netherlands :) The hotel has good strong WiFi connection. The hotel staff in general are efficient throughout our stay at all hours. Breakfast is included with your stay, either buffet, or with waiter service which costs extra, in the cute restaurant and lounge area near the lobby. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the immediate area as well as the wonderful cruise tours connecting to the many canals in this beautiful picturesque city. Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel from check-in to check out was one of the best experiences I've had with a hotel in a long time. The recently remodeled Hotel property awaits you in the center of Amsterdam. The rooms are new and beautifully designed. The front desk staff is amazingly funny and great to talk to each day! The bedding is amazing and so is the temperature control. The most easy to use shower I've ever been in Europe with a button on and a button off. A special shout out to the hospitality agent named Fabio in the lounge. Such a warm and welcoming and happy entity. We love spending our early evenings with him and the rest of the staff and love the food selection and champagne that was available. The Fitness room is a bit difficult to find as it is off of floor two but must take a separate elevator to go to the basement where state-of-the-art equipment and cleanliness await you. Housekeeping is also very easy as you can press a button in your room for a green light to signal the staff to freshen up your room. read more

This hotel was great from check in to check out. We were checked in by Michael, he just so happens to be from Philadelphia. He was so accommodating and gave us all the helpful tips and locations to visit. The concierge were wonderful, very hopeful with questions that we had. Apparently my husband arranged to give me flower arrangements which were beautiful and delivered to me on my birthday morning. It's a huge Hotel, but located in the best area. I legit walked everywhere that I went, because there's no need to drive anywhere it's so close to everything. They have a decent breakfast, they are home fries are so delicious and they have tons of pastries and things like that. The rooms are beautiful, wish they had windows but who has time to complain about stupid things. Maybe I did have a window and I'm just not remember. Nice hotel with a gorgeous lobby and nicely decorated rooms. The bed was super comfy. They need to improve the service in the club area. It was really dirty when we went in there (no tables picked up) and ingredients for the coffee machine were missing. The next day when we got to breakfast they were out of plates, cups, ingredients for the coffee machine, tables were dirty, etc. It seems like they can keep up with the bar area in the lobby that's visible but not the club area that isn't as visible. I stayed here for a business trip in June 2025. I was aware that there's construction going on at the hotel. The hotel itself is quite nice and the location is great. We had to walk to the train station each day and it's a very short easy walk. It's also close to the main tourist areas and lots of restaurants and stores. The employees are very nice and helpful. Rooms are small by US standards but fine. Maybe a little dark. The hotel is kind of expensive if I was paying on my own but probably worth it. Breakfast is just ok and very expensive so I would avoid it. A coupe coworkers complained about noise from the construction but my room was quiet as a mouse. All in all it's a pretty nice hotel and a decent choice for a hotel in Amsterdam. read more

Great location! Close to the Central Station, close to cruise ship port, and close to the Dam square. The hotel breakfast is really good. Cook to order egg in any style and also cook to order Omelets. Beside your traditional continental breakfast, they also has cheese board, smoke salmon, all kind of toppings for your oatmeal.... It was actually my friend who stayed at the Renaissance Amsterdam on his Amsterdam trip back in 2019 that put this hotel on the radar for me. I probably would have found it on my own anyways, but it was his very positive review of the Renaissance that sold me on staying here. Figured that I should check this hotel out even for one day since I will actually be staying here for a week this coming October. First things first, the service here is fantastic! I actually stopped by here on the Wednesday I got to Amsterdam to leave my bags while I checked out the city, despite not actually checking in here until the following Monday. They had no problems with that whatsoever! Then I also bought some very expensive stuff at De Bijenkorf nearby, and they were kind enough to store that for me until Monday when I could retake possession of it. Unfortunately they weren't able to give me a complimentary room upgrade with my Ambassador Elite status since they said the room was almost fully booked, but they did end up giving me free breakfast. Can't complain about that! Thankfully, this room was very American in style. I have been in Amsterdam a few times now, and let me tell you know how SUPER ANNOYING it is to have to climb super steep stairs to get to your room. Definitely not to be found here! Not the biggest room, but it enough room for a king bed, a computer desk, and two extra seats for relaxing. The bathroom was about what I would expect from an American-sized hotel bathroom, which means it's probably way bigger than European standards. So the hotel itself is nice, but the real reason I chose the Renaissance Amsterdam is because of its location. It is SO close to Amsterdam Centraal, like six minutes walking close. And anyone who's been to Amsterdam knows that Centraal controls EVERYTHING if you want to use public transportation. Lugging my suitcase to Centraal wasn't too bad when the walk was only six minutes. Other than that, because it is centrally located, you can pretty much walk anywhere and it's not too far. Also, the free breakfast was basically everything I had hoped for. It was a buffet that had all the ingredients for a full English breakfast! Had an omelet bar, meats and cheeses, even smoked salmon. No complaints from me on this one. Even though I stayed here for less than a day, I definitely felt like I made the most of this stay. I cannot WAIT to come back in October and stay here for a week. Really nice hotel that is undergoing some serious renovations. It is very centrally located, close to centraal station but please bear in mind if you're coming from the train you will have to drag your luggage over cobblestone roads which makes the short trip from centraal station seem WAY longer than it actually is. Once you get to the hotel the service is FANTASTIC! If they see you outside dragging luggage and looking like you've been hit by a bus - hello transcontinental flights - the concierges (thank you DZ! Thank you for all of your help! )come out, scoop up you and your luggage, get you waters to drink and deposit you at the check in. Concierges (again, thank you DZ!) are super fabulous, check in is easy and quick and the lobby bar is literally only feet away (2 for 1 happy hour from 5-6pm every day!). Rooms are comfortable, beds are great but please understand that the renovations are ongoing. It never bothered us because they don't happen at all on the weekends and don't start until about 8am during the week, ending at 5? maybe 6 in the evening. We are NOT early risers but the renovations haven't bothered us at all because you don't come here to lie in bed anyway! If you have club access the buffet breakfast is really good and VERY substantial. Made to order omelettes and eggs, on the hot bar you have bacon, sausage, a veggie (some days cooked spinach, some days cooked mushrooms or baked beans), potatoes of some sort, small pancakes and tiny Liege waffles. There are platters of fresh veggies and fruit, cheeses, hams, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel and other meats (if you eat pork the ham is spectacular), cereals, yogurts and some chocolate looking thing. There are always fresh loaves of bread for slicing and toasting, fresh pastries and croissants. Please people, especially my US brothers and sisters, please for the love of GOD and all that is holy DO NOT GRAB THE WHOLE BREADS WITH YOUR BARE HANDS! The staff puts lovely napkins RIGHT THERE for you to use instead of your grubby hands! I see AMERICANS do this every damned day and I want to go up and just smack them a bit. Just because you do it at home does not make it ok to do in polite society. USE A FREAKING NAPKIN! It's literally RIGHT THERE! One of the coolest things I've seen here this trip is the fact that instead of little disposable cups to put jam in, they have what is actually an edible cup. Think ice cream cone type cup to put jam in. Cool and edible! Love, love LOVE the staff here, they're amazing and speak 20+ languages! Observation: There is a disparity between Google and Yelp reviews. Conclusion: Y'all pickier! FYI - We were in a suite for almost a week including New Year's Eve, so rates were higher even with club discounts. I do recommend this spot for the location and the vibe. Not up to Renaissance standards and will not be until they re-build the hotel. We booked this hotel months in advance and a time there was no notice of construction going on at the hotel. When we pulled up, we knew something was amiss as the building was demolished and what was now "the hotel" was another building retrofitted to be the temporary hotel. Not all rooms have AC and we were told we could have 2 Twins with AC or a Queen with a fan. We were going to try to make it work but decided we could not and decided to move to the Marriott. The hotel staff KNOWS their hotel is a hot mess and they bent over backwards to make us happy. Canceled our reservation without penalty, paid for our taxi to move us to the Marriott, so they really did do what they can. The hotel is a hot mess though, very disconnected, make shift lounge, the halls zig zag in ways that don't make sense, no proper flow--because it's not a hotel, it's a building made to be a temporary hotel. I'm sure when the new hotel reopens in 1-2 years, it'll be back to Renaissance standards. read more

A good stay that could have been great. Three nights end of March 2022. Was upgraded to a Club room due to Bonvoy status. Hotel room was available at 8am on day of arrival - a great bonus after a red eye flight. Location is excellent with most locations walkable within 45 minutes. Room was average size with zero view to speak of. Breakfast buffet was a great spread of food with egg station for custom orders. The lounge was finally open and we were able to use that for light evening appetizers and beer/wine/soft drinks. The concierge was very helpful and assisted with tours, etc. including how and where to get tested so we could return to the US. Why four stars? The housekeeping sucked. We were gone for 9 hours one day and they didn't show up until we complained. Took 3 days to get a non-Down pillow. On another day housekeeping was completely AWOL. There is a small cafe sort of attached to hotel - Kopelcafe. Food was nice but pricey. I just feel that there are so many better options in the city. All in all, I wouldn't mind staying here again if I'm in Amsterdam. read more

We enjoyed our stay before and after our cruise. It was under construction. The view from the windows were a bit obscured by the renovation. The room itself is very nice and the staff was very accommodating to our large party and many bags. We were able to store our bags when we arrived as the rooms were not all ready. The pictures of this property on-line are lovely. When we arrived in early November for a 3 night stay and found the vast majority of the hotel under major renovation. My husband has the highest tier status with Marriott and we were assigned a room that was described as an upgrade. It was not. The restaurant was barely adequate, very limited menu-all though they did have delicious tomato soup. The hotel staff was also very nice. We were willing to put up with the construction noise which started early but we checked out less 24 hours after we arrived. We were awakened at 3am by a strange noise coming from my carry on bag. My husband threw a shoe at the bag and out ran a MOUSE, who had been helping himself to protein bars that were sealed in there individual packages and in a baggy. Sleep was not possible knowing there was at least one rodent in the room. We shut it in the bathroom where it went under the sink casing. We packed and went downstairs early. The hotel was full which was fine; we no longer wanted to stay as we did not know how prevalent mouse issue was. We found accommodations on our own, down the street at the Westin-highly recommend! We paid for the taxi to take us to the new hotel. The manager at the Renaissance was nice but it took us 2 weeks to recoup our points and that was only after numerous phone calls to the hotel and finally some help from Bonvoy. We were not asking for anything extra, just a refund of our points. Lesson learned-call your hotel before booking and see if they are under major renovation and if so, book elsewhere. This hotel is in a great location so hopefully things will improve when they have completed renovations. read more

My husband and I used our Marriott free night awards here. Not bad to spend our weekend here free. Quick highlights: -Excellent location, walking distance to everything. We walked everywhere, dodging the bikes whizzing around us. -Smaller size room, fine for us though. -Small bathroom -Towels very cheap, the type where you can only use it once, and it's super wet after. -Room itself was a little run down, but it was a Renaissance, so I didn't expect much. This was the exact quality we received at other Renaissance hotels in the past lol. Just a little old, dinged up, and kind of cramped, but overall clean. -Small lounge on the 2nd floor that has coffee, tea, soft drinks, and water. They don't open until quite late in the morning though, like 9am, which is kind of inconvenient. We arrived in the morning, and there were several people checking in at the same time as us. Those others were told that they could not check in until the afternoon, but because of our Titanium Elite status, we were able to check in right away. Score! read more

Stay somewhere else if you expect good service and/or some sleep. Didn't notify us half the building was being majorly renovated. Parking is 50 euro a day, no valet service, take a hike to the public lot a few blocks away BUT they'll give you a 5 euro discount! Room not set up as advertised. No waters, only antique water kettle to warm tap water for instant coffee. Fridge found hot and not working on check in. 5 hours later still not fixed. Another call and another hour, still no visit or cold waters as promised. AC broken. Hot stale air in the room, especially after a shower. No vent in bathroom. Can't even turn up the AC fan to circulate air. No one told us anything at check in. Can't open window because of noise from street. Asked for a fan, "Let me check". No response. Called 30 min later to get my own answer. I get it...this hotel is in a downtown location but that's no excuse for poor service. This place is on par with a badly run motel 6. If that's what you want it'd be a better value to find that and stay there. At least they don't bait and switch. read more

We booked the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel (RAH) since it's location was right in the middle of Amsterdam Central with easy walking access to shops, cafes, and restaurants. Unfortunately, it's prime location, and the kindness/hospitality provided by the hotel Navigator/Concierge, were the only things about the hotel we liked. Their bed mattress in our room (624) were the worst mattress we've ever slept on. Their restaurant was very expensive to dine at. We could never reach the front desk for room service no matter what time of the day or night you attempted to reach them. Our only luck in getting assistance so housekeeping could bring us extra towels was to call their Navigator and he made sure we got towels brought to our room. Our experience at this Marriott family branded hotel was not to the satisfaction or level we've come to expect from this hotel chain. read more

When the construction is complete, this MAY be a lovely hotel -- I couldn't tell you. The current state is entirely unacceptable. Our room was a nice interior room -- however the window is obstructed by scaffolding and a bright fluorescent construction lamp facing our window that is always on -- thank heavens for blackout curtains. During the day, it's hard to hold a conversation with someone else in the room. There are constantly MULTIPLE jackhammers banging on the walls and ceiling DIRECTLY above our room from 7am - 5pm. The hallways are currently unheated, and the room only has a heater -- no A/C. The hallways are a huge maze to get to your room, elevator, or lobby, however there are temporary signs everywhere to guide you to the room -- that said, I couldn't find the stairwell between floors, and when I asked, was told they were for staff only. The staff are absolutely wonderful, given the situation, however I suggest, STRONGLY, that you find ANYWHERE else to stay. This building is not suitable for human habitation in its current state. I'm absolutely astounded that Marriott allows this location to remain open during this building's rebuild process. ADDENDUM: Immediately after posting the above review, we managed to get "trapped" on the 1st (second) floor. We were walking down to the lobby when the fire doors slammed in front of me, just barely avoiding slamming into my face. Note that there was no fire alarm. Pushed past the fire doors to go down to the elevator (see above about stairs) -- but it was not functioning. Went looking for the fire escape -- it was locked. Security showed up shortly and escorted to the (unmarked) fire exit stairs that weren't locked. The staff was very apologetic, but this further compounds my feeling that this building is not currently fit for habitation. read more

Beds and comforters were super comfortable - I wish my home's were as nice! The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond. I had packages shipped from the US for a conference and they delivered it straight to my room for me. Perk is the water fountain on every floor so you can refill your water bottles, which is great. I always appreciate that effort to save the planet a bit. Also, a nice decent bar downstairs and a few restaurant options but I often ate out anyways. I definitely would stay here again! read more

Not the cheapest place -- but you certainly get what you pay for. I stayed here with three friends for four nights and we all enjoyed the delicious included breakfasts, free WiFi, and large televisions. There were many additional amenities that we didn't get a chance to enjoy like a full bar, conference rooms, and more I'm sure. There's also (pricey) laundry service and dry cleaning if you need it. Our rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and had a nice view out the window. The hotel is centrally located close to the central station and easily within walking distance of all main attractions. I honestly can't think of any complaints. If I ever return to Amsterdam I will certainly stay here again. read more

Disgusting rooms with stained carpets and ants in the room that got into my suitcase. Short review - there are other hotels for comparable pricing in close proximity. Do not stay here. The entire street they are on is also undergoing construction so if you don't care about gross carpets and bugs, then avoid for the next 6 months at least. I don't go out of my way to write reviews unless experience was amazing and don't bother with negative reviews because sometimes it's a one off situation. This was horrific. I already regretted my stay when I got into the room and noticed the extremely stained carpets. I was so grossed out, I couldn't walk barefoot in the room. And on my last day, I kept killing ants on the desk and dresser. I thought maybe it was a few and didn't say anything (I'm very passive and avoid complaining) Until the evening they were everywhere including my luggage so I ran downstairs to tell them and the front desk was super nice and switched my room. I didn't feel like fighting with him on compensation for the night because I had to go switch rooms and take all my clothes (3 weeks worth) out of my luggage and make sure I got all the bugs out so that I wouldn't take them home and I flew out early next day. I'm dealing with all this at 11pm at night. I stopped to speak to manager the next morning and say it's unfair for me to have to pay for the last night when it was such an inconvenience. I only asked for compensation for 1 night as I thought that was fair. He said he didn't have the authority but someone would reach out. They didn't and I reached out twice when I got back because I still didn't hear back and you can see their response in the attached image. They comped me for the 13 euro room service which I mentioned to the manager as a separate issue - price nor description of meal matched their menu - and they thought that sufficed as a solve. I'm sure others may have had a better experience but this was mine and I was in between other hotels and I wish I didn't choose this one. read more

Worst possible Bonvoy Titanium experience of my life. I prepaid for my hotel room but when my flight was delayed and I arrived at 7am in the morning they gave my room away. Instead of the usual upgrade I was actually downgraded to the worst possible room in the hotel against the same rate as the better room I booked. The toilet kept running constantly and it was hard to sleep. The Marriott Bonvoy Titanium helpdesk as well as the hotel promised to upgrade my room by the next day but they could not fulfill that promise. I also ended up having to call Marriott a million times to have a double charge on my card reverted for now 2 rooms instead of 1 (the one they away plus the new one they booked for me). All in all the worst Marriott experience of my life (370 nights). I will switch to another chain. read more

Rooms are very old. Slightly dirty. When we arrived the window was and broken. The air-conditioning doesn't work well so we quickly found d out why the window was open. Tried to have dinner but the Italian restaurant wouldn't take guests but they are not closed. Very odd. We asked staff where to eat, they said the Cafe but said it was full and would be a very long wait. We should eat at the bar or go somewhere else. Pitiful for a Marriott property. Tokyomilk toiletries with a nice mandarin scent. Small lobby, normal sized room compared to US but probably somewhat generous for Europe. This is our second Europe visit .. this was a 16 day 6 country trip and We both felt this was our favorite hotel of our whole trip and the one we started our trip with. The bed was the most comfortable of our trip ... the others were way too firm. We loved the bed and the pillows .. it was a quiet room even though we were only on the second floor. The staff were EXCELLENT .. they were so helpful and friendly. The concierge staff were so much help with finding restaurants and directing us. They even called and made a reservation to get us right in on a Friday night .. all their tips were top notch. We are so grateful for their help!!! If we come back we both are sure we will stay here ... the location was perfect .. easy walking distance from red light district, St Nicolas Basilica, Train station, cheese shops, coffee shops :) and lots of restaurants.. etc. read more

Location is really great - easy walk to about anywhere in Amsterdam- Rooms a bit tired and like everyone they seem to have staffing issues but that's to be expected these days. Club level is a nice place to relax but other than soda/water/beer the food offerings are minimal at best. Scossa breakfast buffet is a win read more

Came to the Renaissance Amsterdam hotel on Christmas eve, and coming from North America, Christmas is a big deal. In Amsterdam, not as much of a big deal. The Hotel has some moderate Christmas decorations, but nothing overly garish. The lobby area is fairly small. Upon arriving the 2-3 front desk staff were busy with other guests and there was a queue of other people waiting to either check in or request other front desk services. There didn't appear to be any real Marriott Rewards member spot, so we waited for a while to finally get our turn. Once at the desk the staff seemed a bit distraught over something. Finally got our room and keys and made our way to the room. The room was very typically European, fairly small, but it was well appointed, and very cozy. There was view of the Alley.. meh. Ok, so that wasn't fantastic. But the bathroom and entire room was clean and modern. I had access to the club lounge and the Renaissance puts on a great spread of food there. The lounge is large and yet cozy at the same time. The lounge seemed to be a bit understaffed, but I chalk that up to Christmas time. As far as location, you can't beat the Renaissance. Central to pretty much everything you could want to do, but just far enough away from places like the Amsterdam Centraal so that there isn't much noise around the hotel. Our room was almost sound-proof it was so quiet. Overall, this is a great location and the Renaissance is clean and modern. I highly recommend it. read more

Check in was painful -upgraded to the noisiest room in the hotel-108-drilling right outside our window. Went to reception but there was a huge line. Asked to be changed and manager was called but he helped a man get a soda and Ignored me for a while. Finally moved me to 627 far away from the noise. Phone didn't work so I advised the housekeeper who said he would Call it in. Also asked a friend to call it in but still nobody has come to repair it. Used to be my favorite hotel for the location. The hotel is in a great location and is super clean. Not to mention the breakfast bar here is outstanding and the espresso on demand machines won my little heart over. I need that machine at home! Anytime I visit the Netherlands this is the go to Hotel. read more

If you are one of those people who doesn't care where they stay but want a good location, then pick this hotel. Otherwise, you need to call and see if the renovations are complete before you reserve. They are in the process of doing major restoration on the hotel and it sucks. There was no warning on the site telling you that in advance or we would not have booked. We arrived early and the lobby bathrooms were out of service and they are still out. The electrical outlets in the lobby were out. Cable TV out in the entire hotel. When we got to our room, you could hear the work crews Jack-hammering. They started the next morning around 9 so forget sleeping in to recover. I have titanium status and we are in a very basic room with an interior view of nothing. Rooms really need a total refresh. Carpets are ancient. If you have status, the club room here sucks. I think it is a temporary room but they struggled to even stock bottles of water. We tried the cafe tonight for a snack and the service was terrible. The cool picture of the meeting hall is actually another building across the street. There is nothing special about the main building in my opinion. The lobby is small and unimpressive. I did call the Titanium line at Marriott to see if they could get me in another property but I booked this way in advance at a great rate and I didn't want to pay 3x and there was no suggestion coming from that person. The one bright spot is the concierge guy. He was very helpful with directions and area attractions. All the employees were apologetic and it is not their fault but Marriott dropped the ball with failing to disclose this in advance. Good luck. read more

Booked this place well before my trip because it was part of the Marriott Bon Voy family and paid extra for a room upgrade. Upon checking in however, I was sorely disappointed in both the hotel and the room. The hotel is quite dated and the hotel appears to be a collection of spaces from multiple buildings cobbled together. It seemed almost all the guests were American (probably due to their affiliation with Marriott), which made it feel like you aren't even in Europe. Getting to my room required going through a maze of hallways, two different elevators and stairs (it was difficult to lug my bags up/down the stairs). My room was the bigger disappointment however, as I could actually touch the ceiling and I am 5'7"!! There were more stairs to get to the bedroom area, which had low hanging rafters also just above head height. Even worse, the room smelled musty and the AC was noisy/dank. It may look sorta cute in the pix but it felt like a cave, the carpet was stained and the smell made it impossible to stay there. When I complained at the front desk that the room was nothing like the pictures and asked for another room, they chuckled and said that every room is different and "That's Amsterdam!" I immediately checked out and found a much better hotel where that was not the case. It seems plain wrong that you reserve a room based on one description and photos and then what you get is entirely different. I assume they have better rooms than this, but it seems there is no way to guarantee getting one, even if you upgrade! They did mention they planned to renovate, so I hope they do. read more

Stayed here for 3 night on our visit to Amsterdam last month. The hotel was very clean and had an amazing breakfast buffet. All of the staff members that I encountered were extremely helpful! The concierge staff gave us perfect recommendations for restaurants and a spa...they even called and booked all of our reservations! They were so knowledgeable that we were even given step by step directions which always led us to our destination with no problems (forget Google maps their directions were on point!!). For us this hotel was conveniently located to all of he attractions that we wanted to see. There's lots of shopping and restaurants in the area as well. Everything was walkable even in the snow! Horrible Accommodations. This place has really gone downhill. I have stayed at this hotel 11 times in 12 years. I can make a list of the changes that have occurred that only represent a decline in quality, service and management. My most recent stay in May 2022 was not representative of Marriott or Renaissance hotels whatsoever. I arrived after 4 p.m. check-in time, after checking in online. I waited until after 6 p.m. for my room. The ceiling of the room was dismantled in spots exposing the infrastructure of the building as if there was construction or work being performed. I attempted to call the front desk from the room but no one answered. I recalled two weeks prior at this hotel that no one answers the phone when calling from the room. So, I called the hotel from my mobile, but still no one answered. I reported the ceiling issue to the Front Desk in person after waiting in line again. They said it would be fixed immediately. Fast forward, I reported the ceiling issue, along with other fixable issues, in-person twice on May 27, twice on May 28, and again on May 29. The hotel never responded whatsoever. No one showed up. They don't answer the phone. I did not receive any housekeeping services during the stay at all. The hotel is unresponsive. When finally getting in touch with them via email they are dismissive committing to better expectations in the future. read more

I've stayed here a number of times. Friendly staff that are helpful. Hotel can be crowded, though. Rooms vary in quality. Some are nicer than others. The location is great...cannot be beaten. Short cab to the airport. And the free breakfast is high quality. This place is a solid bet for business travelers versus other options in Amsterdam. I would recommend it. read more

This is my second choice for American business hotels in the Centrum. The recent upgrades are very nice. I ended up here mostly because Mariott sent me an e-mail that I could keep my Gold status by staying just 15 more days than I already had. So, why not. The rooms are nice, although smaller than the Crowne Plaza, but the conceriege lounge has better options for the evening. It has a good location, although the alley from the Central station can be a little smelly at times. I'll admit to playing some games. A coworker preferred Marriott. I preferred IHC. He stayed here. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza. We both got two keys and gave each other one of them. He'd come over to the Crowne for the breakfast at the lounge and meet me because it was better. I'd go over to the Renaissance lounge before dinner and meet him for the same reason. Since I was Gold Marriott and Platinum IHC and he was Gold Mariott and Platinum IHC and each of us could invite the other over anyway. This just made it easier. So, in the end I think it's all just about your preferred points program. As a guy who spends 150-200 nights a year at hotels, I maintain gold or higher at three chains. read more
