We first drove out on a Monday because the door sign and online listings indicated they were open, but the building was closed when we arrived. When we came back later in the week around 4:30 PM (they close at 5), we were told admission would still be full price for both the child and the supervising parent ($22 for 30 minutes). For a museum that recommends spending 1-2 hours there, paying full admission for roughly 30 minutes didn't make much sense, especially when parents are mostly supervising rather than using the exhibits themselves. Other kid-focused play spaces in the area either don't charge adults or adjust pricing near closing time. In past visits we've also noticed that some interactive exhibits were not functioning, which makes the experience feel smaller than it probably intends to be. The concept is great and the fossil site connection is interesting, but the hours, pricing structure, and maintenance of exhibits could use some attention. With a few improvements this could be a much stronger destination for families in the Tri-Cities area.

We had a nice chat about the Gray Fossil Center, over outside. They just dug up a new red panda skull. The entire walkthrough the building was really informative and fun. Exhibits were super cool as well. We also saw one of the Tesla Coil shows, and it was short but radical. Show lasts about 15-17 minutes and you watch the tesla coil play music with noise cancelling headphones and i'll leave that up to you to judge if it's entertaining or not, but I thought it was. Of the two sets of doors in the front, half of them weren't functioning which meant that big crowds were all moving in and out of the building through one set of doors. Not great. We stand in a line of about 60 people with 15 of those being outdoors in late November in Abingdon where the temperature is in the upper 30s. Brrrrr. We asked folks around us if they had already bought tickets, if this line was just for concessions, etc. but no one was certain. After eventually moving inside we saw that the ticket purchase line and the concession line appeared to be the same one. Also, we saw that no one was checking tickets as you entered the theater area. So we got out of line and went to our theater. We had bought tickets in advance but it should would have been easy for anyone just to head right in without tickets. The staff looked overwhelmed, understandably so, but the line arrangement and information were poor. We were in a theater with the multiway reclining seats. I kept mine upright for most of the film but when I did try to recline, many of the buttons didn't work.

They have shown it every year since, and I have been fortunate enough to go every time the doors have been open for it. However, after tonight, I will not be returning to this establishment. My friends were approached and threatened by a man getting in their face complaining about the audience callbacks. (To any Cinemall staff: I was in the same row, I saw it happen!) In the twelve years they've shown the movie, they should know full well what kind of movie this is and that callbacks are part of the program. Doubly so since they've invested in the Tolls of Madness shadowcast during some years. To make things worse, the same man that complained also admitted to bringing his underage kid to see the movie. Despite knowing that, the manager of the establishment decided to move to kick out my friends over the callbacks instead of kicking out the man and his daughter. So when my friends were forced to leave, my wife and I walked out with them. As such, I was given my refund when it was offered for the tickets I purchased, and I also turned in a free movie pass I was given at work. I will not return. Not if I'm going to be gagged from participating at the one movie that allows it. Thanks for losing a 12-year paying customer. P.S. Since you read my review on Google and left a nasty response, I've contacted your CEO. I've also emailed the Tolls of Madness and informed them of what you really think of your local Rocky Horror fans.

We asked for the manager and she could have cared less. It's unbelievable. Why offer them if none of them work. She was not even slightly compassionate. If you have a hearing impairment, you are not welcome here. Save yourself the frustration. Go somewhere else. We have had great experiences at Fort Henry Mall at the NCG.

My husband went out and told the manager (which was also the manger that had to issue our rain checks last time) that the screen wasn't working, and she snapped at him and said "it will be fixed by the time the movie is on." My husband said "okay well last time we were here, it wasn't fixed, and we spent 2 hours here for nothing." she said "oh well I don't remember that." Manager has been the absolute rudest human on the planet both times we have had encounters with her. I'm also attaching some videos of the absolute disgusting area around the drinks and walking to the theater. Workers just standing behind the counter that could have easily went out and cleaned up a little. We will be taking our business to NCG theaters in Kingsport from now on. The store features a lot of great history and we even got to meet the museum director as well while we were here. In addition to train layouts they have museum quality railroad paraphernalia from years ago. 4,200th Review I…read moremade it to Bristol Motor Speedway, not for a NASCAR or Infinity Race but for a self-guided tour only a few days before the start of the night racing events. The car haulers were lined up and the driver and team buses were starting to fill their parking areas as the speedway crews and vendors were pushing to get this place race ready. While traveling across I-81 I noticed a sign showing the exit for the speedway, thinking I'd do a short detour and do a drive by to a snap a few pictures from the road I had no idea that I've have an opportunity to get a little more up close and personal. After arriving at the speedway I noticed the entrance road was open so I pulled in and followed the orange cones to the front of the speedway going around a few car haulers and vendor trucks. I was happy to get this far without any questions so I pulled into a parking space a few feet from the main gate and got out to take a few photos before getting back on the highway. That when things changed and by happenstance a crew setting up trash dispensers and port-a-potties pulled along side me and one of the crew stopped and commented on my truck and asked a few questions about some of the accessories I had installed being he also recently purchased a new Maverick - we chatted for a few minutes and I explained that we were traveling through the area and stopped by to see the speedway, he asked if we had went through the gates and got a closer look which we had not. This guy wasn't just a worker he had the credentials and told me he had been working here for more than 13 years and told me I could enter the gate and do a self guided tour of the entire facility. A little stunned at the invitation I got his name and thanked him and walked to the only open gate. Although there was some activities going on with the staff and vendors we walked into this mostly empty giant facility unaccompanied with total access to explore the track and what a view it was once we walked out to the seating area directly in the middle of the front stretch of the racetrack. We had no other interactions with anyone as we walked around and respectfully avoided using the elevators or going into spaces that were being set up for race day before more than 100,000 fans would flock here for the two night races scheduled in a few days (Food City 300 9/12/25 - Bass Pro Shops 9/13/25). This is a beautiful and well maintained Motor Speedway and it was an amazing experience that we will always remember as we traveled across this part of the country. It goes to show that not having a plan can be the best plan, I don't think I would of ever been able to plan something like this and yes of course I watched both races on TV after this wonderful visit to this track, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good...
