Then a couple of very energetic men wipe down your car with urgency to make sure it's dry, and they've got all the spots. Honestly, it's an excellent service for $12.50. However, this past week I decided to make my wife happy (not my normal MO), and go for a more comprehensive wash including vacuuming and wiping down the interior. I had to do it without the kids, because it involves taking the car seats out, and they don't get to watch from the inside which is the only reason they like it. This was literally only the second time in my life I've had this done. Because when I was a kid, I (1) didn't care about how my car looked and (2) I didn't have any money. (Although, getting it detailed may have helped keep me out of trouble and entirely avoid a confusing conversation with my father about him finding what he called "grass" on the floor of the car. I don't call it grass, and actual grass is entirely acceptable to find on the floor of a car.) And then I didn't have a car, because I lived in NYC, and cars are expensive and a pain in the ass. But then I had kids. And kids need lots of things, like cars to take them places. And kids ruin everything, including your car. All this is a long-winded way of saying, if you want your car to look like you don't have disgusting little monsters sitting in the back, actively throwing and mashing various edible items into and between your seats...this is a good spot. The other time I got the car detailed I went to a fancy, super-exclusive spot that charged me literally hundreds of dollars and my car was PRISTINE when I got it back. Cleaner than it was when we bought it. Here at Ultimate, I paid $50, and it was ALMOST as good. Not perfect, but really a great value. Best of all, it only took 25 minutes (during which I got some excellent tacos at El Tenampa a block away) instead of four hours. Efficiency is the name of the game here. My wife now demands that we do this quarterly.

Thought I lost my AirPods but was alerted by my phone that someone took it and turned it on at the car wash the next morning. Went back to the carwash and told them that someone turned it on 10 mins ago (based on "Find my" app) and at first the lead associate was about to turn me away till I told him some crazy story. Then he called the team and after telling them what I said, one associate basically led us back to my car and said he found something hidden in between the seat in my car (I guess it fell out of my belongings) and instead of leaving it in my car, took it out of my car and kept it in their workstation. Luckily I was able to claim back my tech but I'm ashamed that these people would not leave others belongings where they belong. Beware because these people may take your stuff in your car. Also, terrible job vacuuming, there's still cat fur everywhere in my car... maybe focus on your actual tasks instead of vacuuming someone else's valuables.

I am not pleased with oil change service. This happened: About 6 months ago, my Mercedes Benz was in for an oil change. They did not properly tighten the bolts that hold the skid plate on. The plastic panel flapped then dragged on the road surface. I had to remove the bolts and drive back to the shop for repair. Second: my 2004 Porsche Cayenne was in for an oil change. They could not remove the skid plate without damaging it. They could not replace it on the vehicle. Third: I had a recent oil change with the 2004 Porsche, where the power steering was leaking a lot after service. I just came from a multi-point inspection with the Porsche dealer and I know everything was working fine. Eric, the "manager" at the Phillipsburg, NJ store argued with me that my car had high mileage, and was dismissive about the leaking power steering system. He insulted my vehicle and was initially resistant towards taking a look at the work they'd performed. My 5 family cars are now looking for a better oil change solution. Stupid. Decent wash facilities, albeit expensive. Be wary of their maintenance/mechanical area, because they don't/won't stand behind their work.
