She answered all my questions and worked with me on payments to create the best package for Luna. Knowing I was anxious, he modified the standard report cards to include videos with voiceovers explaining her progress and the reasoning behind each exercise. I would strongly advise anyone considering AYP Training to think twice before sending their dog there. After having our dog for 24 days, it became very clear there was a complete lack of communication, professionalism, and understanding of our living situation. We live in a high-rise condo, yet somehow they spent weeks training our dog to go outside in a backyard setting -- something that does not apply to our home at all. How this was never clarified during nearly a month of training is beyond concerning. What's even more upsetting is that our dog came back terrified of car rides, which was never an issue before. As owners, that is heartbreaking to witness. After reviewing the videos and conditions of the trainer's home, we were honestly shocked. The house appeared trashed, chaotic, and nowhere near the professional environment we were promised when paying for "professional" dog training services. Nothing about this experience reflected the level of care, structure, or quality that was advertised. We invested a significant amount of money trusting this company with our dog, and the results were disappointing from start to finish. Between the misrepresentation, poor communication, and lack of professionalism, this experience felt extremely misleading. Dee came out to our house to give initial obedience lessons (actually, to train us!), and we followed up with group lessons at their facility. It's a great opportunity to drill in the basics, learn strategies to get your dog paying attention to you, heel, walk on a leash without pulling, follow basic commands. I have taken several classes with my dogs at Applause Your Paws and I am so pleased with the trainers and the facility! I took Outdoor Adventures four times (three different dogs)...twice in Broward and twice in Miami. The classes are fun and take place in different public places each week, where the dogs practice their obedience skills with distractions and work towards their Canine Good Citizen tests. Marlene's Outdoor Adventure classes in Miami were my favorite! I also took Level 2 Obedience at the Miami location with Marlene and Dee as trainers. They both managed the class well and were always getting creative with training exercises for their canine students. Both trainers are excellent and I always looked forward to class. Nala is the new addition and the 5th dog to be trained by Dee in our family. She is a sweet active lab pup to complete the two week boarding program. I used to take my dog here for doggy daycare on days I worked long hours during her separation anxiety training. She really loved it and was always taken care of very well. It's very easy to communicate with the employees and book training over the phone. Melissa was extremely helpful when setting me up with a private training session. She gave me great tips and some reassurance that I needed at the time! I'm grateful for our trainer Felisha for helping with having my boyfriend's dog and my dog get along. My boyfriend's dog had some aggressive behaviors so we booked a private training session to learn to introduce them safely. I wasn't present at the training (my partner was) but I was thrilled to know how much of an improvement we saw from that one session! Felisha is a skilled trainer, and although I thought some things she said were a bit harsh at first, it's what my partner and I needed to hear to become better dog owners. She also left an extremely detailed report card that was helpful. It's been about 3 weeks and our dogs are getting along wonderfully thanks to the tools she taught us. We purchased 5 puppy training lessons that were hosted mainly by Felisha, but Robert did host one of them. Both are amazing trainers! There were a few times we stayed after class to ask for some recommendations and tips, and they both were extremely helpful. We have also purchased about 2 weeks of dayschool sessions so far for our dog so she can get additional training + daycare, and it's been great! I had been dragging my feet on getting a dog trainer. I knew I needed to be in the headspace to implement the changes being presented. Applause your paws followed up on an almost weekly basis checking in to see if I was ready. When I was finally ready, I asked how many sessions I should get. They encouraged me to get one lesson and then decide. They earned my trust by recommending the one and not pushing the five when I would have bought it, Marlene came to the house, made amazing recommendations. She heard my concerns and highlighted my dogs many strengths. When I asked about getting more lessons she encouraged me to implement the suggestions and see if sessions will be needed. Again, instead of pushing for more sessions, she suggested waiting and seeing if any more will be needed. Now that's a company I can get behind. In terms of training, the suggestions were great. Maybe a bit of a copy and paste but it's necessary until we know something isn't working. My dog has already made changes & it's been 1 week! read more

I got my first pandemic puppy in November and he started taking puppy kindergarten class at AYP and moved on to level 1 obedience and joined their day school program shortly after! He worked so hard with with his weekend trainers will & Marlene and loved his day school trainer Mel! Drake earned his CGC & CGC urban title and has started learning tricks! My second pandemic puppy joined AYP in March and has progressed so much in a month! We love everyone at school but are especially thankful to Mel for being excellent with them and teaching providing me with advice and tools on how to successfully keep them on track! When we rescued our nine month untrained pup, not only did she need training stat, so did we! AYP came highly recommended by two close friends, so we signed up rather quickly for one of their group classes tailored towards her bully breed. Since completing that series of five classes, we've returned for daycare and training, as well as boarding. We also signed her up for Level 2 obedience group classes. The group classes are great for us to practice with her, while the 1-on-1 trainings she gets while at daycare are helping her with so many other things including familiarity with strangers, dogs, and specific behavioral issues. She also comes home exhausted after daycare which is always a good sign! Whereas other doggy daycares may get scared of her breed (American Staffordshire Terrier), since AYP is a training facility first, they are so good with her and we feel comfortable leaving her there for the day or night. It's pretty easy to schedule appointments over phone and keep track via their online portal. Even though AYP isn't the closest trainer or daycare to us, we don't mind making the trek to leave her in their good hands! read more

Just with the first class and my dog is learning to be more obedient. It's not just what is applied for the dog but also what the class applies to all owners so that you learn how to teach your dog how to listen. I'm anxious to go to the second class because it's only been two weeks and I see major progress in my dog. Our relationship has grown because we even have a deeper and better understanding of one another. The first class was a one hour basic command class. TIP: You're supposed to bring your own treats. Come comfortable not much walking but you want to be comfortable for the hour and just worry about your lesson with your dog. I was taking my puppy to classes and AYP and Miami Obedience Club and AYP is so much better and worth the difference in price. I wanted to like this place, but they make it hard. Here are three important things to watch out for: 1) My dog caught some sort of nasty illness (might be the dog flu) from Applause Your Paws and their answer was basically it's like preschool, dogs may get sick. Green stuff was oozing from my dog's nose. Another dog at their facility must have shown similar symptoms and therefore should have been immediately removed from the facility and the facility cleaned. Kids noses run a lot in preschools so I get that, but green oozing from a dogs nose is extremely unusual. Now on top of training fees I have vet bills as well. 2) Scheduling is very difficult. At the beginning I had emailed back and forth about dates for training and thought it was set, but later found out you actually have a buy a package first then schedule dates. No one had told me this and the dates I wanted were no longer available. You have to make dates weeks in advance, which is hard when you get a puppy and want to get it trained right away. Then once you finally start the training you really have to schedule out months in advance if you don't want a gap in training. I, again, didn't realize this so I scheduled my first 5 sessions and when I went to schedule the next 5 they didn't have anything available for a few weeks so there was a gap in training. Meaning it's hard for the dog to remember things they learned 3 weeks ago and build on that. I have used dog trainers in the past and you usually can schedule week to week with no issues. 3) This should have been the biggest warning sign. They won't let you tour the facility where they keep your dogs. I was told "the dogs like it, but adults wouldn't." When I asked the owner about this she said they are doing improvements and basically people can't see the facility until 2018. So it's like a preschool only you can't see where your dogs will be? Imagine sending your kids to a preschool you couldn't tour? read more

Duke (he is an energetic boxer puppy) has been with AYP since November. He was trained by Raquel who treated him like her own! First few reports weren't great because all Duke wanted to do was play and not work. The trainers there had the patience and love to try a different approach. They aren't a one type of training fits for all dogs. Now, Duke is a well behaved, socialized, and respectful dog. Duke is obsessed with daycare there too! He goes a few days a week and comes home happy and tired (A happy dog is a tired dog!). I'm eternally grateful for AYP staff (Dukes 2nd family), even with the changes Duke has had, AYP has always remained loving and consistent for him....which keeps him happy! read more
