This was a pretty cool place to come and get some drinks. While on a cider tour with friends this was a stop and everyone was super happy we did stop here. The place was pretty empty but given its location, I am not surprised. It is a bit far away all on its own but I am sure a bunch of locals go in the evenings. We did flights here. You get a laminated piece of paper and an expo marker and you mark off the choices you want. The bartender will slowly provide them to you. I loved everything I tried and when one of my friends didn't love what she tried the bartender just gave her something different so he would know she liked everything she tasted. The bartender also have everyone tastings of one of their hard liquors they make. If you like hard liquor you probably would have like it, but I don't like hard liquor and couldn't stand the burning. I loved the crabapple and the rootstock they had. I also enjoy that you can see where all the drinks are made. Nothing was going on that Saturday afternoon but I am sure if you pop in on a different day you can watch everyone work. All my friends loved their peach vodka and all bought a bottle. I highly recommend here. Great staff with amazing service and great options, especially if you like cider. read more

This is a spot worth visiting! I've had their ciders and liquors at events and purchased at Wegmans / AJ's (loved the Hopped Cider in cans), but it was great to visit their tasting room and learn a little bit more about the different ciders and liquors available. It's located on an apple farm so it feel so fall when you visit. The bartender was informative and was able to answer a lot of our questions. $4 for 4 tastings. I sampled mostly ciders and the Apple Jack: - Rootstock Dry, which is very much like a dry champagne (I bought a bottle for $7) - all time fave! - Rootstock Perry - a little sweeter with the pear infusion and earthy flavor - 2014 Rootstock Heritage - what I consider to be a classic hard cider - dry and fruity with a subtle sweetness - Barrel Aged AppleJack - this is similar to a bourbon and will warm you right up. Would be great on the rocks or mixed in a cocktail with some citrus. The space itself isn't overwhelmingly large -- you walk into the tasting room with the window open to the distillery on the right, the tasting bar right in front of you, and the shop with bottles to purchase and gifts to the left. This place has some of my favorite liquors and ciders right now and I'm glad I made the 30-40 min drive to visit. A perfect weekend outing. read more

They're only open on Friday for dinner time and they have a set meal that changes. We went for burgers because a friend spotted it on their Instagram. A burger, fries, and spinach was $10 and GREAT. It was a little bit of a drive from Rochester, but on a sunny Friday night after work it was well worth it. I had a flight of ciders. They have a few available that you won't find at Wegmans. They were definitely tasty! I'll probably be picking up a bottle of the Rootstock Cerise (the sparkling cherry wine) to take home. The staff is great. We've been chatting with the tasting room manager (whose husband has joined us) and several different people who work on the farm. It's been great conversation in a family kind of atmosphere. This is right now my favorite cidery/distillery around. A short drive from Rochester, in the middle of apple country, surrounded by orchards, there is this lovely tasting room. They have a large selection of products, but they still work mainly with the stuff they grow. Because of their selection, there are some products I personally don't like. It's not because of the quality, but because of my personal taste. However they also have a few products I love. I was going to recommend the products I am a fan of, but I figured it's best if you just go there and try them and decide for yourself. The service has always been great, and they have many activities in town, which is even better. read more

The tasting room at Apple Country Spirits is inviting, and you're centrain to find a new favorite to enjoy among the selection of ciders, cordials, and spirits! Located about 40 minutes from downtown Rochester in the Wayne County village of Williamson, Apple Country Spirits is located on a farm just off Eddy Road. You may recognize the farm as the location of the popular haunted hay ride (it looks a lot different in the day time). Nothing scary about the cider tasting room, though you might miss the turn onto Eddy Road if you're not paying attention. The tasting room is bright and features a smart, traditional looking bar with all of ACS' Rootstock ciders on tap. The day my date and I visited, they also had an IPA from Swiftwater Brewing on tap. We both had a tasting flight of ciders, and between the two of us we got to try every style. We enjoyed the distinct flavor profiles of each sample, which ranged from dry champagne to tangy cider. We ended up taking home a bottle of Legend and Original between us. We also opted for the cordial tasting. We tried samples of cherry, apple, apricot, and raspberry dessert wines. My date took home a bottle of cherry, I added raspberry to my basket. Our server was bright and friendly and was very knowledgeable about the products. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, so had the place pretty much to ourselves, so it felt like we were getting a private tasting! Overall, a very enjoyable experience. The Rootstock brand dates back to 2012, and is an outgrowth of the fourth generation DeFisher Farms also located in Williamson. Apple Country Spirits makes a fine addition to Wanye County's apple producing region, and is worth the visit from anywhere in the region. read more

The ciders were by far my favorite on the tour and they had sooo many interesting sounding cocktails to try! Stopped in for a tasting on a Saturday afternoon. This was the second time visiting Apple Country Spirits. I'm from Wayne County so I'm familiar with the area and always like to patronize local family owned businesses. The same family that runs the Greater Rochester Haunted Hayride also owns this distillery. Both visits I found the people to be very friendly and welcoming. Last time we purchased the pear brandy and made white sangria with it. It was awesome! This latest visit they actually had more for us to taste including flavored vodkas and hard ciders. We bought a bottle of the peach vodka. It's so good. The tastings this time were $1 each which was higher than the last time we stopped in but like I said, they had more for us to choose from this time. Another welcome change was the fact that they are able to serve cocktails now, thanks to a change in New York State law. What I really like about their spirits is they're made from the fruit the family grows on their farm. Locally grown, locally owned...can't get much better than that. read more

I went to the tasting room on an October Friday evening. The place was comfortable to hang out- the seats were mostly filled and some ppl out on the patio- which had heaters to take the chill out. I'm not usually a cider guy but, when in Rome... I had the Original cider and a Dry cider. The original was very good- not too sweet but really refreshing. The Dry was like a dry white wine- also very good! And I tasted the Cherry Cordial spirit. Like drinking a cherry pie! I left with a bottle of 2 year aged Apple Jack to go. They have one beer from Knucklehead Brewing on tap, gin, vodka etc all made from fruit they grow! Great place to try! read more

I recently visited Apple Country Spirits/Rootstock Ciderworks for their Winter Wassail event. The event was great, the food was tasty (build your own burger bar, pierogies, and chili), and the drinks were even better! I tried a blueberry cider and a fry cake cider and enjoyed each very much. I definitely preferred Rootstock's fry cake cider to the 1911 cider donut cider. I also had a cocktail (the name escapes me now) made with their peach vodka, which was delicious! They offer a variety of ciders as well as a full menu of cocktails made with their spirits. It's a bit of a hike from Rochester, but it's worth it for the delicious drinks! read more

I've tried Apple Country Spirits at many locations, but have never had the opportunity to stop in to their main location. Their facility is absolutely gorgeous! Spacious, modern with a rustic feel, and a gorgeous wall of windows that looks right into the production area. Staff is incredibly knowledgable and very easy to chat with. They also make some absolutely incredible ciders, as well as craft cocktails. They have a gorgeous small patio out back as well that overlooks the orchard. Hidden gem off the beaten path. They have a great tasting room. Really well done selection of quality ciders - and a great range of apple-based liquors - extensive and fun cocktail menu made from their products (about $7 for a cocktail) - and a few local craft beers on tap. Staff was very knowledge to guide you on selections you might like - or tastes you might like to explore. Excellent quality and variety - very comfortable tasting / room bar area. We went here on a Friday night when they had music and food. Unfortunately we went a little late (around 6:45pm) and they ran out of food, but they did allow us to have pizza delivered. This is a great locally owned and family run business We felt welcomed soon as we walked in. The man who served us was very knowledgeable about the sprouts and ciders and was very helpful in our choices for tastings. They have a nice variety of vodkas, brandies, hard ciders and other fine spirits all made from fruits they grown on their own farm! I liked the pear tree vodka and the cherry cordial, which tasted just like cherry pie! My favorite was the Perry cider, which is made from pears, so delicious, and I just had to purchase a bottle to bring home! I had a great time here and look forward to returning! read more

I visited here late last month and was very impressed with all of the ciders. The current seasonal Belgian Hard Cider is incredibly good. I was also really impressed with their raspberry TREE Vodka. I will definitely be back next time I find myself in the area. The decor of the tasting room is simple, warm, and inviting. I noticed locals and out of town visitors alike.
