I've noticed that folks are either for Apple products or they are for whatever the heck else is out there. I am a "for" guy. Started with an Apple 520e laptop... old school. 25 MHz and iOS 6. Loved it and it got me through Harvard in the 1990s. Nowadays I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I don't usually upgrade every year, but I did for a while. Superior products. Graphics wise, ease of use, and accessibility. I also have the iWatch Ultra, ear buds, and an iPad I use for work when I travel. All easily interfaces and interconnected products. I have bought, mainly, from the Apple Store in Hingham. Great service, always stocked, and organized extremely well. No negatives whatsoever. read more

Stopped by recently to buy a new iPhone. Mine was several iterations old already and so I was long overdue for an upgrade. As this place is always busy, I showed up just as they opened on a Tuesday morning and was immediately able to secure a salesperson who was helpful although a couple of aspects of the service could have been better. I had stopped in a couple of weeks prior to ask if I needed an appointment to buy a new phone and was told no. It was recommended though that I show up right when they opened to ensure quicker service so that is what I did. I upgraded to the current ProMax model and I couldn't be happier. It really does make a difference to keep up with the current technology. The salesperson was excited for me (given that my old phone was 6 years old and had quite antiquated features.) She was very nice and very enthusiastic. Her problem was that she spoke much too quickly and I had to stop her a couple of times to repeat what she said. Overall she was a little frenetic...although always remaining pleasant. At one point she was speaking so quickly that I hadn't realized she was attempting to sign me up to pay off the phone in installments via my phone carrier. After asking her what it was she was trying to get me to sign for and she said the "installment payment plan" at which point I immediately told her "No"....I said that I would be paying for the entire phone that day. As she had begun to process already, she had to seek out assistance in figuring out how to undo whatever it was she had done already so this added unnecessary time to our engagement. That eventually got sorted out and I was then able to pay for the entire phone at once. I don't pay for anything in installments even without interest. But I didn't know this was possible with an iPhone so I include it here in case that is an option that would be helpful to others. Once the main transaction was taken care of she ushered me over to a table and chair so that my old phone contents could be transferred to my new one. Oddly at that point she said: "I hope I can get through this as we are very busy now and sometimes "they" don't like us to do this." Who is "they"? Her bosses? And don't like what? That it was taking awhile to see this transaction through to its completion??!? Ummm, I was making a $1,200.00+ purchase...although perhaps a pittance in terms of other Apple product purchases...but still! I was confused as any other time I've gotten a new iPhone at this Apple location (at least two other times) there was never a time constraint issue getting in the way of ensuring proper transfer from one phone to other. Doing so was always a part of the deal as well as imparting proper understanding of the features of the new phone. In any event, no one stopped her from continuing to help me. I would have cancelled the order if that had occurred as I went there specifically to have the 1:1 help in getting my new phone sorted out. I know some people order their phones by mail and do this all themselves but this is definitely not me. I both need and appreciate 1:1 service with technology related things. With new iPhone in hand now for the past few weeks, I am thrilled with it. The photographs it takes are fantastic and the colors far brighter and clearer than I am used to. Overall, I was fine with the sales service I got (despite the glitches she was a very nice person and trying to be helpful) but this store needs more staff overall. It is almost always extremely busy within a half hour of the store opening. There have been times I have gone to this location in search of something simple and am just waved over to the general wall areas where I am expected to hunt for what I need. At the prices Apple charges, I really appreciate more attentive service. As it is I have decided to upgrade my almost 10 year old desktop Mac computer. I will make an appointment for this here. I am somewhat dreading doing this but it needs to be done. Round two coming some time soon. read more

He was super helpful and hopefully the issue is now solved. It's Apple- you either love them or you don't! But if you have an Apple product, you'll find yourself here at some point, either to upgrade, repair or take a class. For the most part, they don't disappoint in their high level of customer service, which is what they're focused on. I had the trifecta- I wanted a new phone, a new mobile plan and a trade-in of an old phone. Over the course of two days and four hours total, Peter and then Joe very thoughtfully and carefully reviewed all my information, listened to what I wanted, gave me a not-too-hard-sell on a phone upgrade, and dealt with my new carrier in a much more efficient manner than I ever could. Towards the end of my saga, I was placed with Rob to finish up the tag ends of my new phone download while he was helping multiple customers with various issues and making it seem like . . . fun? Crazy! Of the four employees that helped me, only the very last was focused on getting me out and away, which was probably understandable, but I would have liked to have been able to complete the phone download before being sent away. I can't complain as the prior three Geniuses were just outstanding. In my life I couldn't claim to have a fraction of their individual patience! Try to go online and make an appointment before you roll up to the store, even if you think you'll go to the head of the line just because you're you, otherwise you'll likely be waiting a while for help! read more

Somehow, starting in 2016 and through to today, I become an Apple fanboy. I'm not completely off the deep end, though. I won't wear an Apple Watch for reasons that are quite hilarious. AirPods play nice with my phone, but don't sound as others (which will remain nameless). With my fanboy status, this Apple store has become my destination for Apple products. My family's destination also (since they don't buy electronics without me). All my experiences in this store, whether repair, return, or purchase have been overwhelmingly positive. I would especially like to give props to Ryan G. and Will (Navy veteran). This is not meant to be exhaustive, all of my staff interactions in this store were positive! Ryan G. was especially wonderful in helping both me and my mom when our phones ceased working and needed a replacement. read more

I was not impressed by employee knowledge. 2 employees in two different areas seriously lacked customer service skills and knowledge of the product. It was almost as if they didn't want to make a sale. Employees should know what the differences are between old and new models and not try talking people out of upgrading their cell phones. Especially when they are several generations different. They should also know what the software on the product is capable of. Home Pods are capable of acting as an L & R now and do come with power plugs. Apple needs to better train its employees. Pretty simple to do. read more

I have 11:45 appointment, I check in at the front and get seated a table. I'm sitting there for 15 minutes until someone comes up to me. They ask if I'm checked, I am at the table for people who are checked in. Mind you there are 6 employees just walking doing nothing. Then the person who asked me if I'm checked in tells me, there's someone before me and i need to wait. What's the point of making appointments if they honor them. I have nothing positive to say. They force you to make an appointment, but when you arrive on time, they tell you to go sit at a table. Where you will wait. And wait. And wait some more. This seems to be especially true for repairs, since you aren't there to buy products and 95% of their staff are only concerned with making a sale. Then when you go back to pick up said repaired item, you have to once again sit and wait until they deem you worthy of their attention. Yesterday there were no less than six associates socializing with each other and I was told to wait. Even when expressing that I had driven a long distance and had a very tight schedule, I was told to wait. When I went to leave because I couldn't wait any longer, one of the associates stopped his socializing with another worker to tell me he was "just about to help." He supposedly went to get the item for me, but I wouldn't know because it took so long I had to leave. He also suggested I should "just go order the item and have it shipped", when I said how far I had driven. To which I responded I already OWN the item, but they had sent it for repair. Save yourself the time and aggravation and do repairs or orders online. This would get 0 stars if possible. read more

I brought in my iPad with a cracked screen. The very rude greeter asked if I had an appointment. I did not. Was told they had an appointment available in 2 hours even though there were at least 10 employees lounging around. I left, went to the Apple Store at South Shore plaza and was taken care of in under 30 minutes. It was worth the trip out of my way! With all the Millions and Millions of Dollars that Apple generates on their products and customers clamor to buy the latest products, they still claim they are at their capacity of hiring more employees to keep up with the demand for service! Take for an example you want to talk to an employee about a minor problem! You have to sign up at the door, they have to see how long and even though the store looks empty it's a minimum over an hour wait! At one point 3 hours and their respond well you can go on line and reserve a time and even when you do you still have to wait an hour or more!!!!! Unexceptionable, BUT IF YOU WANT TO BUY SOMETHING THEY ARE FREE!!! They spend more time getting more help for those who bought Apple Products and making their wait time less than frustrating customers that already have the products. Their system is not working and once my apple products die for good! I will be happy to shop elsewhere. These APPLE CLONE EMPLOYEES are some times not helpful when it comes to repairs and make you wait and wait but when you want to buy a product they have ample employees ready to serve you! I guess that's the way it is today's market! Get the customer to keep buying new products and once it gives them frustration they hope they give up and buy an upgrade! Wake up Consumers! One does not need to upgrade if the battery life is abit longer or your photos can do jumping jacks. The life of your phone can last longer. I hope if I need repair I go to the nearest dump and toss it! Polite as they think they are, waiting hours for a 15 min to 40 min repair is just Rude. read more

Wonderful experience, I came to make a purchase I was in and out in 10 min. I was greeted at the door and promptly directed to someone to help me complete my purchase. There was plenty of parking in the lot; Derby St. Shoppes itself is nice. Normally I dread going into the Apple store in Braintree and Cambridge. I Won't go back to this Apple Store! After having made an "reservation" at their "genius bar", I get there and end up waiting an hour just have a check in person confirm my phone's issues. I then end up waiting another 20 or so minutes before the person who actually handles my phone tells me I need a new screen. They can't accommodate me, and tell me I can leave the phone and have it the next day, although I wish I could, i chose their store because they had genius bar openings. Thank goodness there's an Apple Store that has such great Tech advice. I had to drive almost an hour and a half to find out that my problem was a damaged power cord. A few seconds of a power outage had shut my computer down, only way to find out what the problem was, was to drive all the way to Hingham. There used to be a store on Cape Cod. I tried finding a power cord in Hyannis at another big electronics store at the Mall, but they don't sell Apple. So, anyway, Derby Street had what I needed. read more

After he came out, he told me the case was broken and that they could replace it for free... but i would have to come back a different day. This place is impossible to deal with. On the weekends it is insanely busy. On the weekdays it still cannot complete a repair task without an hour and half to two and half hour wait which no one actually estimates correctly and it will change depending on who you speak with. They also forget to call when your item has arrived in the store. Weeks after I ordered a replacement and still hadn't heard from them I called and they informed me that it was in and I had to get there within the week or it would be returned. I've gone there twice, been give absurd wait times and told I cannot make an appointment for a repair. People with regular jobs or small children do not have this time to spare. read more

After my 2 month old iPhone 12 attempted to automatically update overnight and crashed the software, we attempted to use Apple Support online unsuccessfully. We then brought it to the Genius Bar in a Best Buy where they kept it for a few hours and told us that they were also unable to fix it and Apple would need to replace the phone, and they also told us that this was happening to many people. After finally finding an appointment and taking the morning off we were told it would be 5+ hours and that they do not replace phones anymore. Returned over an hour home to sign into iCloud and "No SIM card" and "Sim failure" continuously popping up. They did not put the SIM card back into my phone and now I am unable to even make a call to customer service. The serial number on the phone was also "replaced" according to Apple so I am unable to get online support either. I am now on my third day with no phone and less than satisfied. read more

Every time I go to the Apple Store I met with employees who seem to want me to feel guilty for needing a repair. Today, there was an extra layer of unhelpful was. The screen on my iPhone is cracked. Otherwise, the phone has been working fine. I took the phone and get the screen repaired. The employee looked into my phone and said there was the little strip that medicated water damage was activated despite there being no sign of dysfunction. Because of this, I would not repair the cracked screen, which clearly has nothing to do with water damage! And they said they couldn't guarantee their work because that little thing and turn colors. So they wouldn't do it!!!! That's like someone refusing to sell your new tires because your car alignment is off! Of course, he did try to sell me a brand-new iPhone!!! Been at Apple for 40 minutes early for appointment and now past time of appointment! Omg who manages this system there are 11 workers walking around talking to each other not waiting on customers and not wiping down any of the displays but there is spray out. Some are leaning on tables chatting or on their phones. Are they security I am mean I see two at door to check in but what the H..... is Apple paying these people to do to be honest given Covid they are increasing the number of bodies in store and putting customers more at risk for Covid! Apple needs to do a lean project because use of employees ridiculous. Are we paying so much so they can have staff hanging out omg my kids need to work here paid to do nothing!!!! I took some pictures to post and the manager Mike said if I did not delete he would not service my sons Mac. He literally with lead stood beside me trying to intimidate me definitely inappropriate. He said his employees were uncomfortable with pictures that were of the Lead on walking around telling the groups what I said and to keep moving! Listen I understand business faced with limited staff this was not that situation. This was wrong skill set staff in those 11 people were only sales staff and not enough people that are trained to complete service takes in! Probably a need to train more people but the 11 people chatting do literally nothing at 15/hr that is costing that store $165 an hour on top whatever the 'techs' get paid. We where there for cracked screen covered under Apple care should be an in an out they are not repairing they are shipping out!!! Apple needs to have some of the owners like Art Levinson, Tim Cook, Bruce Sewell, Al Gore, Johny Sroujli, and others be secret shoppers at this store!! Last night my computer stopped working for no reason, with the blink of an eye, everything was gone! all of my photos, my videos, all of my files... everything was gone. After turning it off and on and spending hours on my phone looking for diy answers I decided to take the chance and make an appointment at to see a genius at their bar... so I made my appointment and I'm I went. My previous experiences at other Apple stores were overwhelming. But this experience was different... My first point of contact was Annie P. She was beyond knowledgeable and compassionate about my situation. When she went to check me in she realized I had made my appointment for the wrong day. But she went above and beyond for me and somehow got me in to see Ben. I explained to Ben that I believed my entire operating system had shut down and I showed him my computer. Ben turned it off and on like I had done but he held down the alt button and presto my computer sprang back to life... everything I had thought was lost forever was still there... and I think I actually called Ben a genius. Because he is. Thank you Annie and Ben for literally saving my life yesterday! read more

Apple, Think Different. Unless you are Senior Manager Ed Ryan, who claims to excel in "reading situations quickly and acting courageously", when in reality he manages to do nothing more than parrot the policy of a trillion-dollar corporation. In the Covid era, simple trips to the Apple store no longer exist. Especially, when you are traveling with people who are immunocompromised. I wheeled my father to our first appointment and purchased him a new iPhone. The employee we worked with was very nice and apologized for not being able to help with my AirPod request in that session. I understood and thanked him for his help. I waited for my next appointment in front of the store. A few employees were outside checking people in, while others were idly standing by and watching me. Eventually the senior manager, Ed Ryan, came over and offered to help. I explained I previously talked to Apple support about a rather widespread problem with the AirPods Pro. These expensive ($250) wireless earbuds have a known issue where they develop a terrible crackling sound. As the senior manager, I was hoping that Ed would be able to just swap out the AirPods Pro with a new pair. While they did not have the right AirPod in service stock, they did have plenty of retail AirPods Pro. Ed was not at all amenable to my situation. I explained to him how I am currently unable to receive mail. I had already spoken with another employee about how difficult it was to get to the store, due to my father being wheelchair bound and immunocompromised. I was hoping Ed would sympathize with me from a human perspective instead of acting like the embodiment of cold soulless corporate culture. Ed offered "solutions" that would require me to either go to this same Apple store again or receive a package in the mail. Knowing one of these options would not work and having seen my father already and having heard our concerns about shopping during the pandemic, Ed knew he was not really offering me anything that would help. If Ed was able to "think different", maybe he would have realized why those were not options for me. I strongly encourage people to stay away from this Apple store. read more
