He suggested we replace the hard drive with the new Serial or SATA type vs. the old Parallel type. He took our computer and returned it next day. I can't entirely fault this shop: Apple very effectively incentivizes using their own products and specifically says on their website that you shouldn't use non-Apple parts. I didn't listen, and I regret it. I don't know if my issue is due to shotty worksmanship or with an incompatibility with iPhones. Either way, do yourself a favor and take your Apple products to Apple stores.
