Beautiful place to get a bag of apples (many different varieties), great apple cider, big beautiful pumpkins, and many treats! Perfect apple cider donuts, yummy chocolate pumpkin bread, and superbly made apple turnovers with super flaky, tasty crusts... we even prefer those to their apple pies. There's other produce and jams etc. too. We grieve when these friendly people close for the season each October 31st! read more

Our family has come here the past two autumns (2017 & 2018) from Manhattan and it's well worth the 1hr 45min drive! We love it because it's very low-maintenance and tranquil. Coming from the city, we'd rather go to a farm that isn't crowded or packed, and this farm is never overly busy. They have two sized bags that you pay before you pick apples (a 10-12lb bag for $15 and a 20-22lb bag for $25). Then you can take the free hay ride up the hill to pick as many apples as you can fit in your bag. Once you get to the top, they have various different types of apple trees available to be picked, but they also have all of their varieties available in bins in case what you're looking for isn't within reach. The location is also gorgeous as it sits atop a ridge allowing you to take beautiful pictures with the Catskill Mountains in the background. They also have a little shop with jams, pies, cider, and apple cider donuts that are delicious! All in all, it's a great place to visit and spend a day with the family! read more

We are so pleased we came to Apple Hill Farm!! It's been family owned for several generations and really has the best & most beautiful view of the valley, hills and Adirondack mountain range in the distance while picking apples. Everyone who works here was kind, friendly and informative!!! There is a small apple & vegetable stand festively decorated where you can buy bags of apples, freshly made yummy apple donuts, apple cider, corn, pumpkins, etc. Right outside of the stand is where you pay for your bag to pick your own apples from the trees up on the hill. There is also several cute background spots for photo taking. They have a super cute vintage fire truck that the kids and the young at heart will love, loaded with hay bales in the back to sit on while the fire truck drives you up the hill to pick apples. Apple Hill Farm has a nice variety of apples to choose from. The small apple groves are marked with white signs informing you of the variety of apple that's grown. We had a wonderful relaxing timing walking and picking apples in the groves and walking around the farm. We will definitely be returning next year! read more

I love this place. I came here once many years ago when I was in college (we walked here from our dorm, ahhh, that was the life) and then came again with a group of about 8 or 9 just this past September. There is absolutely nothing more perfect than a beautiful day in the Apple Hill Farm orchards. I forgot the prices, but they are super cheap and super worth it. You pay whatever X amount is, get your empty bag, and go frolic! There are hundreds of apple trees waiting to give you their delicious fruit! You can fill your empty bag AND eat as many apples as you can, straight off trees, until you're exploding! It's okay because they're healthy! Once your apple bag is tearing at the seams, you should also be sure to try one of the apple cider doughnuts. Wooh-hee. They're little and addicting and the ladies that serve them are so nice. That whole little shop is filled with delicious treats (got an apple pie once- delightful!) and cute gems if you're in the mood for really old school things (some are weirdly expensive though, so I personally have only purchased food). Both times I've been here were really memorable and perfect. We are going to make coming here an annual fall tradition soooo SEE YA THERE! read more

Cool place to go apple picking

I love this apple farm! We went on a nice long hike at the Mohonk Mountain Preservation. After we decided to go apple pick and the farm was only 9 minutes away. Parking was super easy and they had the best variations of apples. Everything from the tree was super fresh. We stumbled on these opalescent apple trees and the apples on the trees were huge. They were the size of a small bowling ball. The apples were not sour. I give it A++. read more

First of all, this is not a bad farm. The variety and quality of the apples are great. The hay ride is free and the view is wonderful. However, some of the workers here racial profile their customers and that is the reason for my 1 star review. My husband is hispanic and I'm asian. This past weekend, we took our 8 months old daughter here to pick some apples. We got on the hay ride without knowing that you need to purchase a bag before you can pick the apples. So after talking with some other visitors on the ride, we decided that we want to take the ride back down the hill, buy the bag and go back up again. During the ride, my baby soiled her diaper, so when we went back down the hill, I wanted to change her diaper in the car. As we were walking back to our car, one of the workers ran towards us and pointed at my diaper bag and asked us if we have any apples in there. My husband thought he was joking but he wasn't. I had to explain that we needed to change our baby's diaper and that we were planning on buying a bag, and of course, we did not have any apples on us. None of us have ever been racial profiled before, so we gave him the benefit of the doubt and figured we probably looked suspicious because we came back down so quickly and that we went straight to the car. But then it happened again. After we purchased the apple bag and went back up the hill, we picked a bag of apple and was walking and enjoying the view. While I held my baby in my arms, my husband was pushing the stroller which had both the bag of apple and our diaper bag on top of it. And you can clearly see that all the apples are in the clear bag and we don't have any loose apples in our stroller. There was this teenager who works there that was riding a bike around the apple trees. And more than once he biked pass us and was staring at our stroller up and down as if we have "stole the apples and hid them in our stroller." The experience was so uncomfortable that we didn't want to stay any longer. And to prove that we were not being paranoid, another caucasian couple also didn't know to purchase the bag first. And they just picked a bunch of apples and left them in their stroller basket. And no one bothered them at all. The kid on the bike didn't even check them once. We have been to New Paltz many times and this is the first time something like this happens to us. We went to another nearby farm after this and the people there were much more pleasant and friendly. If you are not caucasian, go to another farm! You'll have the same fresh apples and great views without feeling like you're being watched the whole time. read more

My daughter and I visited the orchards on Saturday during SUNY New Paltz Parents' Weekend. What a wonderful time we had! The property is well maintained and there were an abundance of apples ready for picking. We discovered the opalescent apples--we were drawn to them by their beautiful color and huge size. One bite and I knew this was my new favorite apple. We filled the rest of our bag with as many as we could fit. The prices are very good, too. Not only did we get a full bag of apples, but we also bought two pumpkins from the wide selection available. I look forward to walking up the the farm again on my next visit to New Paltz, and my daughter said that she and her friends were going to go fill a bag again once they eat all the ones picked this weekend. read more

We just came from Apple Hill Farms. This is our fifth year apple picking, but our first at this farm. This is absolutely the worst experience compared to some great experiences at other farms. Apple Hill has very, very few trees, and the quality of the apples was below average. Most apples were in bins that you "picked your own" from, and many were rotten or mushy. We only filled one of our two bags. Please do yourself a favor and go to one of the larger, better stocked farms in the area. read more

Love this place! We were just there this past weekend. After reading the reviews on this site we couldn't wait to go. We had so much fun!!! Plenty of apples to pick - we had mostly McCouns and Jonagold. The donuts are 'to die for' - you absolutely mush have one. They have a hayride wagon to take you to the orchard if climbing the hill is a challenge or if you have small children. Looking forward to going there next year!!! read more

It's all about the money. $7 for a dozen horrible little donuts (tiny 2 inch jobs that you would pass up in a supermarket). $5 for a Hamburger (frozen pattie cooked on a front yard grill). $2 for a cup of coffee (Mr. Coffee--I kid you not). If you don't fill your apple bag in the orchard, they won't let you top it off in the store, even though the bags cost a fortune. Ridiculous rules, and the employees are arrogant enforcing them. Customers are just dollar signs, especially those from the city. Most of the trees are empty early in the season, except for the tasteless red apples at the top of the hill. There are dozens of full trees up there because their apples taste like cardboard. Try them if you don't believe me. Most of the apples in the bins look like crap because they are picked off the ground. Sure the views are nice, but you can get that anywhere in Ulster County. There are better choices, especially Wallkill View Farms which is a few miles away, much classier and more fun (fruits, veggies, knick-knacks, baked goods, pumpkin patch, etc).
