This was the year we upgraded phones and watches for my husband and I. We always order our phones via apple online. But, the other week we didn't in person purchase for my watch. When we walked in we were greeted a few times and received help instantly. It was a fast and smooth transition. There was a small hiccup but we were able to fix that at the Verizon store pretty quick. Overall my purchases are always with apple directly. We like to cut out the middle man. This store is clean and inviting. Bright lights and very well organized. We like visiting this store. read more

As much as I want to go into a 4th star really my overall is best summed up by a 3 star A-OK experience. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar to diagnose an iPhone issue. That was convenient using their website and timely as they got me in the same day. I arrived on time and waited 20 minutes, they were packed!!! The staff was friendly and had me move to the rear to listen for my name. I had the time to be patient. Once my name was called a quick diagnosis revealed an issue on my 13 charging port. Unfortunately Apple Care had expired and the estimate was $300. With being out of town and living on my phone I decided to upgrade to a 15S Pro. There were no carrier deals and if I had the time I could have scored that. I added an additional year of Apple Care. Where they faltered was twofold. Acquisition of an Apple Card and after the sale setting up my new device. The Apple Card allows interest free payments, but takes up to 48 hours approval. So after doing the paperwork it was discovered this would take too long to go interest free for two years. The second item. My device required roughly 45 minutes to set up with various prompts etc. The sales person ghosted me, but others thankfully stepped in and were great! Still it took longer with waiting for assistance. At the end the sales person made sure everything was set and removed my SIM card. I do love Apple products and after two weeks of my new phone appreciate the new technology. Especially the add battery capacity and enhanced camera. 3.5 rounding down. read more

Husband bought an $1,500 ipad. Sales person said they would help with set up if any problems. Went back as somethings didn't transfer. Store manager rudely stated we only help with computers. My husband said well Randy said you would help. She called over Jennifer who was quite rude and said she couldn't help. Finally CiCi was called over, and she was very sweet and fixed everything. I scheduled an iPhone screen replacement at the Richmond (Short Pump Mall) Apple Store, after paying for AppleCare+ Theft & Loss for two years. The screen repair was supposed to cost $29, and this was my first ever claim. I drove 58 miles through Sunday traffic for my confirmed 3:50 PM appointment. Upon check-in, I was told they were too busy to do the repair today--even though this type of repair is normally done during the appointment. The reason? They had too many phones already waiting and not enough technicians. Then why confirm the appointment in the first place? I spoke with a manager, who basically shrugged it off as a "systemic issue"--the scheduling system books appointments without checking whether they actually have capacity. That's absurd. To make matters worse, there's no way to call and speak to a human at the store beforehand to confirm anything. Apple has walled off direct contact with its stores, so I had no way of knowing I'd be turned away after wasting half my day. The store was buzzing with employees in matching T-shirts, laughing and chatting, yet no one had time to fix the phone. I'm from out of town--it would've made sense to prioritize someone who doesn't live nearby, rather than ask me to come back another day. I've since paid $99 for an "Express Replacement" instead (plus a $1,000+ hold on my credit card), because I no longer trust that the in-store experience will be reliable. Apple can do better. A company this large shouldn't hide behind systems that don't work. If you're going to sell AppleCare with the promise of convenience, then deliver on that promise. This experience was frustrating, costly, and entirely avoidable. read more

I went to look at a new computer. I happened upon an Apple employee, Chris J. he gave me great information. was kind and very helpful. We told him we would be back the next day. He assured us I could see him or any other sales person with no pressure. we were lucky enough to see him when we purchased the computer. what a wonderful experience. So helpful. It was okay. It was busy when I went to pick up my phone. Nobody greeted me, but they greeted my friend who was straggling behind me and not using an iPhone. Hah. The lines are always long here bc no one wants to work. These kids are dumb and lazy. Seems like its a bunch of college dropouts work here. And somehow full of themselves. Like they own stock in apple or something. I got an attitude with an employee bc he got an attitude with me and he told me he was gonna spit in my face. They are a relatively large store located along one of the inner aisles of Town Center mall. They have a lot of parking, but it is not close. The store is filled with Apple products and personnel. I was greeted warmly, discussed what I needed, and was routed to someone who had the specialized skills to help. They not only sell products, but they also help you know how to use them. This applies to the apple trade in policy it's a friggin joke and a way to reel you in . I traded in my iPad Air 3 for a 90 dollar credit it worked fine they denied the credit of course after you pay for the new devices why ? Something about lcd display. Discoloration and white spots huh like I would know ,this it worked absolutely fine so they deny the charge trade in you are screwed and forced to pay the 90 dollar discount that they fished you in with towards the new device clearly a scam and you have no way of arguing they say they will return the device of course after you wiped it clean but still charge you how unethical is that ? What's even worse I spent over 1100 dollars on new iPad Air 13 inch and AirPods Pro shame on Apple for such devious marketing read more

Horrible service. Set up an appointment a week early - detailing what I needed. Drove an hour and a half to the appointment. They did not have the part required for my item. They just shrugged and said they didn't have the part. No apology was given, no alternative solutions were offered. The guy clearly did not care at all - he seemed glad to get me out of the store. Huge waste of time trusting them to prepare for an appointment. I am not sure now what the point of getting an appointment is if they are going to ignore the requirements for it to be successful. Wow -was it because I'm a woman or not of European descent?? I went in for a charging cable, guy at the door asks what I needed, he then directed me to 'Chris' at another table. Jokes on me 'Chris' was a customer who was very annoyed when I asked her for help. Back to the the door guy, he sends me to someone else named Chris (both of them giggling) who walks me to the wall of chargers then stands between me and the chargers, he just assumed I wanted the low end charger, I explained I came in for an Apple product, he started arguing that the Mophie brand is fine and I should just take it. I again explained I wanted an Apple product. He told me I was acting some kind of way and he wouldn't sell it to me and had his manager finish the sale. He still would not let me touch the product. While all this was going on two men walked behind him (not employees) and picked up products from the shelves to purchase. Ah-I just looked it up online-Mophie is $5 more!! No wonder he wouldn't let me near the product. What has happened here?? This is the third time I've had really rude service at the location. I've been shopping at this store since it opened and the experience has become very stress inducing. I realize my sale won't make a dent. Just left the Apple Store and have to say Raven is truly rude and demeaning to customers. She is representing a premium product and she treat you like you are annoying her for even approaching her with a question or needing help. Raven is one of the poorest examples of customer service I have had in recent months and all of this for a $1500 phone. She also didn't know how to process a return asking for information that was not necessary as the next gentleman helped me with a smile and no issues. They're friendly but unorganized. I understand that with COVID things are difficult but you can't make an appointment ahead of time and you can't call them directly, you always get routed to apple sales. I'm not getting engraved AirPods because they told me at 2:50 that I could do my 5 minute transaction at 4:30, despite the store being empty. On top of all this difficulty the apple store product is more expensive than buying it on amazon. So no engraving and no immediate gratification but I saved $40 and they'll be delivered to my house. I understand Apple needed to adjust their in-store visits due to the pandemic, but their process caused me so much inconvenience, I upgraded to a Samsung Phone instead of a new IPhone. I live about 30 mins away from this Apple store, I originally drove there and was told I need an appointment to repair my current phone. I signed up for the soonest appointment to repair my phone (2 weeks later!). I got stuck in the notorious Short Pump traffic and arrived 9 minutes past my appointment time. The store greeter told me that they could not attend to me due to my late arrival and that they were short staffed, he said I can reschedule for a date another 2 weeks later! I declined this offer as I need a phone for work and couldn't wait another 2 weeks for my device to be repaired. I originally switched to Apple for the convenience of their in-store help, but have found their service incredibly inconvenient instead. read more

I was in dire need of assistance. My phone was broken. I laid out all of the questions. As T-Mobile was my cellphone provider. I called all of the stores that morning looking for a phone that was in stock. They gave me no issues. I call the Apple store. I speak with 1 associate named David. His attitude was disgusting. He did not even make me want to come into the store when all I wanted to know was if they had a certain iPhone in stock. I understand if you cant give iPhone inventory over the phone. Do not waste your gas driving here! I came two different times because I was told to come back the next day and both days they did not have the computer I wanted even though they told me they would when I made the appointment. The wait is long, sometimes even a day out and it's not even worth it because you'll just have to order online anyways! Don't come to this store unless you just want to look but not buy. One star is just because the greeters are friendly but they were completely unhelpful and not knowledgeable of the stores stock!!! read more

I have no other Apple stores to compare it to, but it feels like Apple. The store is super busy, hip and crowded. Most of the staff are young and knowledgeable, and walk around with store I-pads or I-phones that are used to help and check people out. I came with my daughter one time and had told her we were going to the Apple store. After we left, she asked with disappointment in her eyes, "there were no apples at the Apple store." I wish they kept some real apples here, because sometimes it's be nice to munch on a treat while you wait. I had my battery replaced here, first I had to order it then come back in a few weeks, wait in line to drop it off, and then come back in 2 hours later and wait in line to pick it up. Apple has brain washed me enough to accept how all of this is the way it is for me, but some of the other customers older than me were really displeased with the waiting. Also, there was lack of good old school customer service that was personable...just more of please be patient, no direct eye contact. I miss the old days of dropping off an item, filling out paper work, and coming back to pick it up. I guess this is one instance where technology actually slows down the process. But overall, this is a good Apple store as long as you don't expect them to be what they're not. I place a $3,000 online order because you can't walk in to the store to buy things. I get a check in window. I show up to my check in window. The store is closed. It's not as if I spent 20 bucks on a charger. I placed a big order paid in full. Drive 3 hours to pick it up. The least the store could of done was call me so I didn't drive out there. Great experience! I had gotten an iPhone XR from my provider for my upgrade and not even 2 weeks of having it, it began to glitch. The screen would do things on it own and I had no control. So I made an appointment at Apple and Raymond helped me out while I was there. He ran some test and a diagnostic on my phone and said the screen needed to be replaced. He said it would take an hour, so I walked around the mall. And by the time I got back my phone was ready! Great customer service and it's best you make an appointment. read more

Extremely rude and inappropriate "experts" at this store. Walked up to the storefront wearing a CDC approved neck-gaiter and was told it was mandatory to wear a mask, and wouldn't be helped unless I returned with another "variation" or "approved" mask. Regardless, I willingly abided as we wanted to buy a Christmas present. After this, we waited outside in the line in 30 degree weather. Mind you, there were only employees inside at the time - no actual customers permitted inside of the store. After waiting in line I was basically told to F-off by a store associate sporting a massive stye on his eyelid. He was extremely condescending and flat out rude to not only me but other customers as well regarding any sort of purchasing questions or inquiry. If I'm paying $100+ for an item and standing out in the cold to buy something the LEAST you could do is have some decent customer service. Abhorrently poor employees and service from this location. Usually Apple provides the best customer service around, however, this store is a massive disappointment. read more

I have to admit, I'm not a terribly big fan of apple in general. I hate the kind of cult that surrounds them but their stuff works. My old phone needed to be replaced ASAP and unfortunately the only apple store close to Charlottesville is in short pump. As soon as I came in my attitude was, "ugh here we go again". This was going to take forever where you had to get in a line to get into a line. Most of the staff are kind of dismissive and have some kind of attitude, but I really lucked out. If you're fortunate enough to have Chris, he is probably one of the best sales associates here. He didn't up sell me on anything, just asked what I needed and what he suggested was what I wanted. Chris was incredibly patient, helping me get everything backed up before getting the new phone set up. He even helped put a screen protector on, and was kind enough to give me a run through of new features. I will say, if you have any questions or want to get a new phone, come to see Chris here. He makes the process smooth and frustration free. It's been the only time I've walked out of an apple store as a very, very satisfied customer read more

The line of people waiting for their Genius Bar "reservation" (Which Apple has a different definition of which is "The time you'll show up and take a number" rather than "The time you'll show up and get serviced, even if someone else walked in before you at the same time WITHOUT a reservation", which, if a restaurant did to me, I'd never eat at or go back to again--I'd literally turn around and walk the hell out), is just insane. They really need to wrap their heads around why they even have a reservation/appointment system if they aren't going to use it. Apple's policy--at their stores--is to ALWAYS ship your computer back to Apple if it has more than a minor, and I mean MINOR issue (Minor as in, "Oh, I can't figure out the brightness setting" or "How do I connect things via Bluetooth?") Worse, is Apple has this cute policy; Any issue you bring a system in for, they ship it out, do the most minor repair, and return it. My issue was a keyboard on an old laptop got recalled; I hated the old keyboard and when I saw my laptop was part of the recall to replace them, to the Apple store I took it. INSTEAD of replacing it--like the recall SAID IT WOULD--they shipped it out. . .to have someone clean the keys. When they returned it and explained, I said I had brought it in for the RECALL REPLACEMENT keyboard, and if a cleaning was all it needed, I'd never had brought it in (Some of us routinely clean our own!) The employee told me they were aware of the recall, but it's Apple's POLICY to pull this stunt, and then force the customer to return YET AGAIN to get the service as promised. For the record; When Job's was alive, Apple's customer service was amazing--previously they actually mailed me a free keyboard when my Bluetooth one wouldn't synch, paid for the shipping, etc., and told me it was just routine service. That was 2005; 15 years later, you can't get that kind of service. . .from Apple. The employee confessed that since the death of Jobs, many Apple employees were unhappy at many changes--this one included--and thought the company needed to make some serious efforts. While it was nice the employee also realized how stupid this policy was--to get a replacement on a recalled item on top of it--it doesn't make me ever want to go back. Seriously; I will do ANYTHING to avoid going into the Apple store. Beware, shoppers, BEWARE. read more
