It is not a solitary walk in the woods but the few people we ran into were nice. Everyone showed proper dog etiquette. The bikes didn't bother the dog. The only spoil was some guy got off his bike , took the 2 pairs of shoes he bought, put them in his back pack and left the bags and boxes by side of trail. Some people spoil everything. There were many families out doing the same but because everyone is courteous and follows etiquette of passing and staying on the right or left, it remained quite enjoyable. The trail itself is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The locals are friendly, and the trail itself is flat and well maintained. Yet much of the landscape remains untouched and there is plenty of wildlife (great for bird watching), plants (native, non-native, and unfortunately invasives too), and interesting rock formations to observe. I like to take advantage of the tranquility offered only by nature (the sound of the streams, melodic bird songs, the stillness, and even the smell of the great outdoors). We also stopped by the little ice cream shop in Pepperrell which was a lovely break and a bit of a reward for all the excercise we all got. The only downside, as someone who is highly allergic to insect bites, is the highly aggressive mosquitoes. But just make sure you wear plenty of bugspray and bring enough to reapply. Also don't forget your hat and sunscreen!

Most of these can be reserved, but they are typically open and available for just showing up. There is a paved walking/jogging path that runs the perimeter of the park, which in nice weather is available. During the winter the path was not cleared. There are events in the clubhouse (usually crafts, for a fee) and they offered summer series concerts outdoors in the summer last year. There is a covered area with a few tables where I have seen folks with balloons having showers and birthday parties. There is also frisbee golf, but last year, no tick treatment, so be prepared with repellent, etc. There are doggie receptacles, but more often than not, no bags, so best to bring a supply with you. The path is nice, but narrow. If someone is pushing a stroller, it is challenging to pass if you are walking/jogging. The Clubhouse is nice, open during certain hours, and where they house the craft events and other gatherings. Even when not open, there are 4 rocking chairs on the outside porch which are available all the time. There is a little putting green, on the river side, but I've never seen anyone using it. The short path to the green is not maintained, walking through a little bit of grass/weeds is required to access. Plenty of parking, both paved and gravel. Outdoor port a potty available. Closes at dusk.

We enjoy this park during the day when we have a chance to head out across the city for some fun shenanigans. There is usually an ice cream truck that pulls up and the kids get excited to pick their favorites. When here I see kids playing with parents onlooking. I like to go watch some of the kids perform in the skate park where some have outstanding talents. Flipping, tossing turning they rock!! We try to get here anytime we can so the kids can run and play. If you get a chance drive around the city and see what all the parks have to offer. I know we benefit from driving around. Watching the people around here is like watching the cast from the Labyrinth moving around the field!

They have different lighting that is used throughout the class. There is always a Fort Cycle song where the lights go off and you freestyle to a candle-lit room. I highly Fort Cycle! I have been to Sons of the Wind twice at their Loxahatchee, FL location. Once last year and again…read morethis year. I had such a great time last year that I returned this year and brought 3 friends along. .. Unfortunately, this year's trip was not as positive as last years. On the positive side, the facility is beautiful, and the horses are wonderful. Where things fell apart a bit this year was in the lessons. There are three instructors, Vitor (the main instructor), Maggie, and Vincent. Vincent taught one of the group lessons (3 of us) and did a wonderful job. Clear and concise instruction, well balanced, and very informative. I took lunge lessons with Maggie and they were also excellent - exhausting but well worth it. Vitor struggled a bit more with time management - especially in the group lessons. In at least 3 of the lessons, he focused 80% of the time on one of the riders while the other riders just walked around. Then they got a few minutes at the end. In another lesson, he took a student off their lesson horse to show them how to do something on that horse and then spent at least 20 minutes schooling that horse (still not getting it do really do what he was asking) before getting off and having that student get back on to just walk around the rest of the lesson (the poor horse was completely fried by then). When he is focused on you and gives instruction, it is generally very good. That said, what really got to me was the response when I voiced my frustration with basically 30% of my lessons being pretty much a non-lesson. At the end of my last lesson, my frustration was pretty clear. When Maggie asked what was wrong, I expressed my frustration with the 3 lessons that were basically me auditing while sitting on the back of horse, the response I got was "I am sorry you feel that way" followed by "You don't need to come back". That just blew me away - instead of taking the feedback and saying "so sorry that happened, thank you for letting us know and we will work on that" - I basically get told to go find someplace else to go. That lack of concern and empathy for the people who have come here was disappointing to say the least. While they did reimburse me for the three lessons, that wasn't the point and not what I requested. This did nothing for the other individuals who were impacted by this. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend them anymore.

Riding with Vitor has been a transformative experience for me, not just because riding one of his Lusitano schoolmasters is like nothing I had experienced before, but because I was finally able to begin to take what I'd learned by watching for so long and do something with it. He presents information in a way that is easy to understand, is patient, and I feel completely comfortable asking about anything I do not understand. And when you ride one of the SotW schoolmasters, it is evident how much time has been spent with each horse so that they too have something to teach us and as a result, you are able to get the most out of your ride. The facilities at SotW are simply wonderful and although I could spend several paragraphs elaborating, I'll instead recommend checking out their website where all of the facility details are available in detail. I also want to highlight the SotW staff who are uncompromising when it comes to providing exceptional care to the animals as well as the maintenance of the facilities. Their overall attention to detail and their ability to work as a team is second to none. I have been a boarder here and I have the utmost confidence in the care being provided by SotW. You hear many stories in the horse world and I am glad to be somewhere that is filled with dedicated professionals who do not cut corners and who take great pride in everything that they do.
