Good service is hard to come by these days so when my garage door started splitting on a couple of panels I thought I was in for a nightmare trying to get someone to show up on time and get the job done professionally and correctly. I even considered trying to do the job myself until just a little bit of research showed how dangerous a project like this is because of the springs involved. I am fairly handy, but I know enough to know I didn't want to lose a finger to save a couple bucks. I'm so happy to report my fears were unfounded when I called up Ed. He was very responsive, got there when he said he would, and delivered on the project's completion as promised. I've had so many bad experiences with home repair companies. It was totally refreshing to deal with Ed. To top it all off, the price was reasonable. Many repair companies will hold you over a barrel when they know you need to get something done quickly but Ed's fees were more than fair. Especially compared to some other businesses I called for a quote who were so high I wondered if they were trying to not get my business! GARAGE*** My garage door was having issues opening/closing, I called AV Garage to take a look at it, they suggested that my springs needed to be replaced (not retightened) even though they we're broken, they also said if that doesn't work, I may need a new opener??? They didn't have my size springs and would need to order new ones (about 3 yrs ago one broke and the company that came out charged me $225 total). 2 days later (about the time it takes Amazon Prime to ship) they arrived, AV Garage came out and it took them about an hour to install, the door was working but they now sounded horrible (loud and popping) I was blown away with the invoice they provided $655, nearly three time more than expected. When I questioned the installer, he became very rude that I was questioning the invoice as well as his work and said, "it sounded like that when he arrived". I ended up calling the owner Ed to question the invoice: $400 for parts / $250 labor he said he wanted to make things right and that he would personally come out to readjust the doors and bring me some free universal clickers however the day he said he would come out he never showed (I took the day off to be there). When I questioned him, he said he had me down for a different time. I ended up writing a review about my displeasure, shortly after posting the review Ed reached out asking me to take down the review and that he would reimburse me. I ended up taking down the review and advised Ed that I would pay the price for the parts, he said ok but has since followed through with his word. I'm now stuck with loud doors and parts that only cost a fraction elsewhere. Please look around and get several other quotes before going with AV Garage...we used A Door Company in Hesperia 2yrs ago for our detached garage (14'x12') and it was only a few hundred dollars more for the entire door compared to AV Garage. Contacted this business on Monday morning June 26, 2017 and left a message with regards to a garage door repair that was needed. About ten minutes later Mr. Ed Watts - owner, returned my call and I explained that one of my overhead springs broke and took with it a guide cable. He stated that he had a full day, but could added me to the end of the day, which worked fine for my family. Ed showed up a little later than scheduled, however he did call to inform me of this situation. When Ed showed up he assessed the work needed. Then I watched as Ed systematically disassembled the damaged cables and springs and installed all new equipment. He set cable guide and spring tension, conducted operational tests and cleaned the work site. Total time was about one hour. The price was reasonable and was exactly as quoted. He originally told us it would take about seven weeks for the door to arrive. To our surprise it came in sooner in a about three weeks. Installed on 9-16. Our garage door broke a couple of months ago so I took the opportunity to look around for a deal on a new door. My wife and I are new residents of Apple Valley, and as new home owners we decided we always want to keep business local. I made a phone call to Mr. Watts to get some information and he was extremely helpful, right away he asked what my budget was and then explained the packages that he had that fit my budget. I called maybe 2 other local businesses but in the end I decided to go with Mr. Watts, not because I got a better deal but because his customer service was great. He came out to our house to check measurements and to let us pick the style and color of our door. It took a little while to get our doors because they had to be special ordered but it was very much worth the wait. I'm amazed on the deal we got and the quality of work he did in installing our doors. He even took our old door with him so I didn't have to worry about taking it to the dump. Our package didn't just come with the door, we always got new weather striping, new track railing for the door and a new garage door opener - all with a warranty for around $1,500. The thing I'm most happy with is the windows on our door, our old door didn't have any so our garage was always dark. Now I can go in during the day time and have the natural sunlight coming into my garage without trying to find the switch to turn on the lights in the garage. The spring on our garage door broke on a Saturday afternoon. I just knew Monday would be the earliest before we could get anyone to come out to fix it. My garage door was not operating properly--would always open, but would not close with remote and closing from wall was hit and miss. If I held the wall switch, it would close. Back of garage door had AVGD sticker. So, I looked on yelp, had good reviews, and I called Ed. Left message, like other reviews, he returned call promptly. He asked about the door opener make. It was not his, he said he installed the door during construction, previous owner installed the opener. Even though he did not install the opener, he gave me a brief tutorial on aligning the sensors. We needed our garage door opener fixed, I talked with Ed on the phone and he said that due to the opener being 15 years old we might just need a new one. So I set up an appointment to have it replaced. When Ed showed up he checked the garage door and found that the springs were not only worn out but were way undersized for how heavy our garage door is. He had already quoted the price for the new opener over the phone, but when he discovered the springs were bad he was able to give a quick quote to fix that problem as well. I was amazed that he actually had the springs we needed with him... very well prepared. He pulled the old opener out and took the old springs off and had it all back together and working in about two hours. On top of that he lubricated the hinges and rollers on the garage door.
