Have an appointment? No problem... they will see you an hour or more after that time. No appointment, screw off........ Last month I had an appointment for my MacBook Air to get looked at because it wasn't charging and I've had it looked at 4 other times for the same issue when I lived in California. Was over an hour after my appointment time sitting there waiting to be seen. They used a few different chargers and cords to see if they could get it to charge. Turned out my battery was going bad and my charge port was bad. They said I needed to call Apple back to see what the solution was. So was a waste of 1.5 hours drive, then 2.5 hours there, then 1.5 hours drive home. Apple told me I would get a replacement within 2 weeks... a month later my laptop with boxes opened randomly showed up on my porch when there was no tracking info after Fedex dropped this off randomly at someone down the street. So today, we had an appointment at 2:45pm for them to look at my daughter's computer and see if they have a replacement charge port to be replaced. We came in first thing in the morning to see if they could look at it now and also I mentioned what was going on with my computer. I asked them if they can check if this is MY computer or if someone put their computer in the box and took my new one since both boxes were open. Nope. They wouldn't give us the time of day. They said I needed to make an appointment to check and that we had to come back for her appointment. I told them that in Cali I have done a walk in numerous times with no issues and they looked at it right away. Nope, they could care less. After this Apple had called me saying they still hadn't heard from Fedex on where my computer was. I told the guy I received a computer and it took him a whole 10 seconds to verify using the serial number that this indeed was my computer. But pathetic that the Apple Store was oh so inconvenienced to take 10 seconds out of their time to check. Especially since they had probably about 30 or more employees just hanging out around the store. read more

I don't understand how you can go in this location and wait for someone to help, and no one speaks to you. Then another customer will walk in and a staff member will walk up to them and ask, Hi! Thanks for coming in how can I help you?" I went in to pick up a pair of air pods I ordered, I asked one lady ( who was standing and talking to another staff member) she said, " someone will be with you in a moment ". Then she went right back to her conversation. I don't get it. I went a few days before, had an appointment for a repair. The same thing happened. I canceled my appointment and walked out. My 4 year old Mac Book Air needed a new battery. I called around and all the area Apple approved repair locations required me to leave my notebook for a number of days to get the battery replaced but not here! Technician Scott was amazing and my battery was replaced in 30 minutes and that included a diagnostic test before and after battery replacement. The price was reasonable and since the battery was on hand, I didn't have to do without my notebook at all. Thanks Scott! read more

A close friend of mine had her IPhone 11 Pro Max quit functioning. I recommended she take it to the Knoxville Apple Store to have it checked out. She visited the Knoxville Apple Store on 2/22/2023. The tech at the Apple Store said it was a hardware issue and not repairable. She was offered a new IPhone 11 Pro Max for $599.00 plus tax. She accepted the offer and left without her original phone because the technician stated he needed to send it to Apple. A few hours after after leaving the Apple Store she realized she had purchased the original IPhone 11 Pro Max through her cell phone provider (Xfinity). She contacted Apple Customer Support to discuss getting her original iPhone back. Apple Customer Support also agreed the Knoxville Apple Store should not have kept her phone, gave her a case # and stated she should hear back about March 1st. On March 18th I asked my friend if she had heard back from Apple yet. She had not, she looked for the case # in her email sent from Apple Customer Support and it was nowhere to be found. Together we called Apple Customer Support who stated they could not find the case # either and patched us through to the Knoxville Apple Store. The person I spoke with at the Knoxville Apple Store stated the purchase of the new IPhone 11 Pro Max was associated with a Repair ID Well, there was no repair made to the original phone which was not purchased through Apple and I stated they had no right to keep her original phone, much less associate the new phone with a Repair ID which puts the new iPhone under a "replacement" category (under Apple policy) and thus not eligible to purchase Apple Care insurance. Nothing I could say would change the position of the Knoxville Apple Store. In my opinion, she was dupped. Had she went to her carrier (Xfinity), she could have gotten a replacement iPhone for $240.00. Beware the shenanigans of the Knoxville Apple West Town Mall Store! read more

I visited the Apple Store in West End Mall. My iphone was DOA, no internet. I worked with Nick, an Apple tech. He was unbelievable! He checked the phone, found it up to date. He found the esim was missing and worked with the necessary people to have a new one downloaded to my phone at the store. His six years of expertise was apparent. After completing network resets, the phone worked perfectly. He then asked me if I would like more detail on any of the phones features. Customer service like Nick provided is rare these days. While shopping for new devices, my husband and I received outstanding service at the Apple Store today. They met all of our "wants and needs". Albeit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Upon entering the store, it was jammed packed with customers. We were greeted by a warm and friendly face, then told it would be approximately a 35 minute wait, which we were glad to accept and we knew it would be busy especially during the holiday season. However, to our surprise, there was NO wait and we received immediate service. The specialist(s) are quick, knowledgeable and very professional, which is what you expect when you're relinquishing those type of funds. I've had an iPhone or apple product since 2008. I also own some stock in the company. So I'm a pretty loyal apple guy but I'm about to reconsider. My wife and I went to West Town Mall to get new batteries for our iPhone. We'd had them replace about a year ago by another company. After we waited for 45 min we sat down with an apple employee. I told him about the other batteries. He then told us that since apple didn't know what type of chemicals were in the third party batteries that apple couldn't dispose of them and that they would not be able to change out batteries. Now, I'm not upset at the employee per se, but I think this reasoning is complete crap. We have an iPad who's battery exploded but apple is scared of a third party battery? Kristi helped me through the process and made sure I was happy in every aspect and I was never pressured into buying anything. Was trying to decide between the iPhone XR and the XS Max and after a couple of hours I made a decision. I can't thank her enough for being so patient with me. After buying and having my screen protector installed by Jason, he realized that the actual protector had a scratch in it and immediately replaced it. This company has sadly provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had heard so many good things just to end up disappointed. I bought a new iPad and dropped it within the first week and busted the screen. I utilized apple care, paid the amount for a replacement, which was sent to me. The replacement they sent would not unlock to the Verizon network, after many hours on the phone...at least 20-22 hours over two weeks they finally decided they could not repair it and that I needed to send that iPad back to them. They received it on February 16th with the promise of sending a brand new IPad back to me....here we are two weeks later ans not only have they not sent another IPad, they also are unable to provide any kind of update from anyone of the higher departments nor can provide anyone above senior advisor to rectify the situation. I have been here several times and it seems the service is sometimes great and ​others it is really bad. I don't​ know how they can have such inconsistencies​. It is all a staffing​ issue as some are nice and others should be in customer service. We went there to purchase a​ new iPad for the little one and the sales person was wonderful. Went there another time for service for said iPad and the person checking people in was super rude and wouldn't let us get it checked but we could get the pen checked. Well, ​when we were with the technician​ he checked both. So guess this visit was 50/50. When there with my sister to get a battery changed and was told it would only take 30 minutes. So instead of going to eat we waited and waited and waited. We kept asking about it and was told they are almost done which was obviously​ a lie as 3 hours later and right before close they finished with it. This experience ruined it for my sister​ and she has sworn off Apple's products and is getting a Samsung Galaxy​ as her upgrade. So let me tally it up 1.5 visits good and 1.5 bad so what do you do. I went to the Apple store in Knoxville, TN to get the battery replaced on my iPhone X. The battery replacement service was fine. However, I also purchased a Belkin 7.5W Wireless Charging Pad and it is defective because it does not charge my phone. Through a series of tests I've verified that there is nothing wrong with my phone or the battery or my case. Since I live 2 hours away from any Apple store, I asked the store and Apple Customer Care for a return shipping label so I could return the defective charging pad for a refund. Customer Care told me to contact the store; the store told me to contact Apple Customer Care. I got the run around for over an hour. The store told me I'd have to bring it back to them or ship it back to them at my cost. It seems I should not have to pay to return a product that never worked! It's unrealistic for me to drive 2 hours each way to return a defective product. read more

This Apple store, like most other Apple stores I've been to around the country, was packed with people. Also, like most Apple stores, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how to get assistance. All the products are locked up in the back, so you can walk in and know exactly what you want (which I did, a set of AirPods), but tracking down someone to help you is the real issue. I think there was a queue in which to sign up to receive help, but when I walked in no one stopped me to add me to a list. Apple employees are so busy that they will ignore you if you don't assert yourself. So I found the first person with one of the matching employee shirts, told him exactly what I wanted, he got it out of the back, I paid, and I left. Did I skip people in line? Maybe. Should a billion-dollar company hire more employees and have a better system? Most definitely. The old Apple store was better. This new store is larger but has a feeling of being at a crowded bus station without the buses coming and going to vacuum out the number of people. I hesitate to call them shoppers because there is no real feeling of commerce (buying). If you haven't been lately, the 'genius bar' has been removed from the old store layout and they find you in the drab romper room section in the back of the store when they are ready to talk to you. Our visit was to get my iPhone 6s Plus battery replaced. Applecare had setup a 'genius bar' appointment for the replacement process. I thought I should forge ahead with getting my battery replaced while the $29 charge offer was still in place because I was aware that the battery replacement surgery produced a high mortality rate. As it turned out the swapping process darken the entire right side of my screen and they ended up replacing my phone for the $29 battery swap charge. I needed to get on a super fast wifi and just upgrade my iPhone to the latest version of IOS. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and asked how they could help me. I told them I just needed wifi to update my phone and that was all. The lady escorted me to a table and set up a charging pad for me to use to keep my phone charged. She told me to jump on the Apple wifi and I should be good to go. I sat in the store waiting for my phone to backup and then update. While waiting the vibe of the store started to remind me of sitting in Washington Square Park in NYC. How cool. It was great to observe the workers helping people everywhere. One person teaching over here and another explaining repair procedures over there. After the backup and update were done I simply walked out. No fuss and no hassle! I was pretty impressed. read more

I went to the Apple store on Black Friday because my MacBook Pro was giving me the BSOD after booting it up (I and I rely heavily on my laptop for writing my blog). They told me it would be about 30-45 minutes to meet with someone, but it was only about 10 minutes. Dennis performed a diagnostic test and showed that there were no problem with my laptop ( guess that just means it was "user error")! He explained everything to me about what to look for when booting up my computer, turning it off, and even have me some tips. He even have me some information about Apple Business! I'm not a tech-person. I'm not a urban-person. I'm not not a mall-person. I approach a mall with the same attitude as a ninja in the forest, a tourist in a border town, or a matador in the Ring. So, why, why, why am I here at an Apple Store, in West Knoxville, in a MALL? I'm a person who appreciates things that 'work'. I don't care that I-phones aren't easy to 'trick-out'. I don't care that I-products are generally more expensive than similar products. They WORK. They continue working, year after year. I really don't care that there might be a wait on the rare occasion of a I-store visit. I kinda like the fact that 'hipsters', realising that I-products are becoming mainstream are finding other hangouts. They tend to hang about like pigeons in a park, always underfoot, unless brushed away. I DO like the larger store, across from the old location. I appreciate that the employees don't talk down to me, as I'm not technically gifted. I appreciate the sales people; they're very knowledgeable, yet they LISTEN to my comments and never roll their eyes at my many ignorances. I have visited after splitting firewood, and I've visited dressed in my Sunday best: I have ALWAYS been treated well. Yes. The store can be crowded. "Boo-hoo!" Suck it up, Cupcake; you want the best? Wade in there and Fight for It! Really, if you're simply browsing about, slip in and do so. If you know you're making a purchase or simply have questions about a product or process, check-in with the door monitor employee; doing so will place you in que and note your interest. They'll send an employee your way asap. This will save time, if that's an issue. The store is considerably larger than the old venue, however it CAN become crowded, especially during tax-free periods. This is a good place, like pretty much any other Apple Store. I have gone in here to browse and check out the latest gadgets a few times. This place is almost always packed, but they have plenty of geniuses on hand to help customers. I usually don't buy anything here. I just fondle and ogle the goods. Then I go home and buy online so I don't have to pay sales tax. I do love the fact that if I need to have warranty work done or exchange something, this place is right around the corner, conveniently located in West Town Mall. The other day my wireless keyboard died, and I brought it in for an exchange. I was in and out in literally about 60 seconds! The guy who helped me was efficient and friendly. I like the fact that they will just email you your receipt instead of wasting paper on a physical copy. It's also very cool that they did the entire exchange via wi-fi. I didn't even have to go to the back registers and stand in line. read more

Apple doesn't generally offer a bag for your purchase, but they're happy to supply one if you ask. The accessory I purchased was tiny, so the rep suggested that I could take the merchandise out of its box and carry it in my pocket while he would take the container and add it to the store's recyclables. The wait was long but it's efficient because they text you when it's your turn and their description of the customers are quite detailed. Love the store but they could use some improvement. Prior to arriving I tried to make a reservation using my iPhone. It's so buried within the app I simply couldn't find it. We had to make the reservation at the store but prior to that we had to wait for someone to wait on us. Several employees walked no around talking to each other but none seemed interested in us. Finally someone stepped up. After making the reservation we waited for about 20 minutes on the tech. We then had to watch several techs walk around aimlessly before one of them walked up to us. Our total time in the store was about 1.5 hours. A little over 30 minutes of that was fixing the computer. The rest was waiting. This was the first time we had been to this location and experienced this type of slow service. Prior to this visit, we walk in, walk out. Service always with a smile. BTW...
