We just went to take my mom for a birthday supper and a young lady met us at the door and said they're not seating people because of a partition today. I'm not sure what that means but when I asked could we eat there because it was my mom's birthday she said no they're not seating any parties today. I walked outside and called back because that didn't seem right to me since they had tables with people eating and the man that answered the phone said they weren't seating any party more than three people and we had three adults and a child and we're expecting two more adults to join us. A couple of people drove up behind us and I informed them that they had told us our party of five adults and a child could not sit as they were only seating parties of three but that lady went in and they seated their party of four adults and a child. I went back in and asked the manager why the African-American family got seated with more people than we had but we, a white family, were turned away. I told her that the server who greeted us told us she would not sit us and when I called back the young man who answered the phone told us they only seated parties of three or less. She said the young man who answered the phone was incorrect that they only seated parties of five or less but we walked in with four people when she told us we couldn't be seated. The manager offered to accommodate us with the table since it was my mom's birthday but by then we were worried about being served with quality food and service because of the scene that was caused. It was quite upsetting to go somewhere and be told they're not seating people when obviously they just didn't want to seat the white people. With absolutely no racism coming from our part, we walked in smiling and laughing and excited to eat there. It's my mom's very favorite place to eat. The manager told me there were only two servers but obviously the server that didn't seat us had a problem with our skin color because she seated the people who walked in right behind us. We ordered take out for Father's Day dinner. We arrived 10 mins early and had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be ready., even though the restaurant was practically empty. Upon arrival at home we noticed our order was incomplete. We were missing a chicken quesadilla appetizer which was my son's meal. We also ordered a rare steak and received a well done steak. Our 3rd entree was a lime grilled chicken salad/rice bowl. It was inedible! It tasted like a cup of vinegar was poured over it The potatoes and vegetables on all 4 entrees were cold. When I called the restaurant to ask them to credit my card for the food I didn't receive I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I had to call back two times before I actually spoke to someone. I was asked if I wanted to return for a replacement of the missing item. I declined and requested a refund. I now have to wait 5 days for my refund to my card. Oh but they did offer me a gift card for a future order. No thanks! I will never order from Applebees again. Their service and food was terrible and they ruined our Father's Day meal. read more

Saturday May 22, 2021 My mother and I decided we would have lunch at Applebee's 637 N Westover Blvd, Albany, GA 31707. When we got there around 2:00. They were NOT busy. The hostess said to me and my mother that a waitress had just quit and there was NOT a waitress that would wait on us. I was confused cause there was very few people there and they were already eating. So I asked what are you trying to tell me? She said She'd have to go ask the manager and she came back and said the manager said he'd wait on you but it will be at least 30 minutes from now. So I said so you're telling us to go away and she said yes. So my mother said, We will NEVER come back and neither will anyone we know. Shouldn't the hostess help waitress if they are shorthanded? I thought the customers were the MOST IMPORTANT part of a restaurant business. This is very disappointing. They might as well close the doors and keep them closed until someone who knows how to run a business buys it. read more

Too bad you can't give zero stars. Service was terrible! Had to ask for silverware and napkins three times before we finally got it to eat our food which was cold by the time we had something to eat with. They were out of grilled shrimp and marinara sauce for our mozzarella sticks, but they didn't tell us until after we got it and called the waiter back to the table to ask about the sauce. Brought the wrong sauce for our chicken strips (asked twice before that was corrected) The ketchup bottles were empty on several tables (this was lunchtime), and we had to ask for refills on our drinks twice before he finally brought them. WOW! Where do I start? I guess I could start with the fact that we were seated for just under 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink orders, which all 4 came at different times. Oh and it's a great idea to be fully stocked on the items that are on the menu. After what seemed like an hour, our food was brought to us so dry that you'd think it had been sitting for at least 20 minutes. After I asked for more sauce to freshen up my macaroni, I was told there was going to be an upcharge. HA! Riiiight! So now I'm eating dry pasta, listening to my kids still complain about them not having apple juice and now I have to listen to the manager have an employee meeting where he's talking about rude customers, people calling out sick and his amazing managerial skills. Stopped by Applebees on a shopping jaunt with a friend in early evening on a Saturday nite. Got seated promptly, waiter was very attentive to take our order. My friend was on a very restrictive diet and we found that except for the weight watchers section there were no healthy choices, and even the weight watchers menu left little to be desired. No low fat or fat free dressings except ranch...ugh...fat free ranch is awful! It took forever to get our food while those around who came in after got served. I had a treat and got the boneless buffalo chicken appetizer for a treat and a side ceaser salad. They didnt bring out the salad before the entrees were served and our waiter vaporized from sight after taking our order. I only got one refill on water and that was half way through the meal. My friend ordered the weight watchers grilled chicken which came out dry and the steamed veggies were virtually raw...not steamed. The manager did come by the table and apologize for the delay in getting our food and offered no discount or compensation for our extended wait. My boneless buffalo wings were good, but that is about all that was good about the visit. I have found that all Applebees and notorious for slow service and was hoping that I would find this one the exception...and it wasnt. Expect slow service, average food and an average $12 per person price for a not so nice dining experience. read more

Food is alright, but the service is horrible. I was sitting at the bar and I waited almost 30 minutes to pay for my meal before I was finally acknowledged by one or the servers. Even while sitting at the bar, I kept getting a revolving door of waitresses and waiters instead of sticking to one waiter/bartender which made it very difficult for establishing rapport...and not one of them checked in to see if I was good. Due to this experience, I was getting the feeling that my patronage was rather unimportant. There is an old Japanese proverb that every service-oriented job, not just restaurants, should always keep in mind: "The customer is God". It means that a business cannot flourish and thrive without customers. As a manager and even as a server/cashier, you should be doing everything in your power to keep the customers coming to your place of business. Otherwise, you'll risk losing them to competitors. I don't think that I will be back anytime soon. read more

First off I just want to say don't bother ordering from this restaurant. They will screw your order up. We ordered a steak and a burger. We got 2 very dry chicken dishes that we didn't even want. I tried calling them repeatedly with no response. So apparently they don't give a damn about their customers. Never again. We were seated fairly quickly and actually had a good waitress last Friday night. Amber R., as is says on the receipt, was courteous and professional. Food came out pretty quickly and was good, not great. The most annoying thing to complain about was that the music was almost too loud to hear ourselves talk. I don't mind some background music while eating, just not front and center above the conversation. If the music is that loud, I'd prefer it be a live band. Also, didn't notice until on the way out but their kitchen score was an 85, which is borderline for me not eating there, depending on what the violations were. First time I've ever visited this place despite living in the area for 30+ years. I'd always wondered why it was so empty even during usually heavy dining hours. Now I know. Got a steak and fries. The steak looked like it was cooked on a George Foreman grill and tasted like what I'd assume a microwaved steak would taste of (Not that any human should ever waste a steak in the microwave, so I've never tried one) The fries were equally unimpressive. Frozen, unseasoned fries that were severely overcooked. The portions were smaller than you'd think for the prices but that turned out to be a blessing in this case. The food was edible is about the best I could say here,so they get a star there. Wouldn't come back. There are better options within close range. Despite everything the service was not terrible. The place was nearly empty and the food took longer than you'd estimate for a simple meal, but staff was friendly and prompt so they get a star for that. read more

On Sunday, December 6, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm, we drove from Cordele, GA to Albany, GA to celebrate our daughter's 21st Birthday. Upon arrival, we should have turned around. The hostess was unpleasant and seemed very lazy. Upon being seated, the ordering machine was blank, so we waited for over 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We obtained another machine from another table and my youngest son began to play games on the tablet. Someone came when we finally summonsed another employee who was cleaning off the table to take our drink order. We specifically asked if our daughter could receive a free dessert with it being her birthday, but the waitress said "No" and that Applebee's location would not honor birthdays because other people was giving the dessert to their friends. I told the waitress that my daughter had an ID showing her date of birth, but the waitress still said "No". The waitress later said that games cost 99 cents. I informed her that the hostess did not inform us that there was a cost for games. She just seated us and left. We began to order our food then found out that Applebee's was out of six appetizers. So my daughter and her dad ordered salads for appetizers. When the food finally came, the food was not good quality. The ketchup bottle was empty and I had to ask the waitress to fill the ketchup bottle. I have been to many Applebee's locations throughout Georgia, mostly in the Metro Atlanta area and this was the absolute worst experience that I've ever had at Applebee's. It was bad enough that we drove 37 miles for terrible service, but it was especially disappointing on our daughter's 21st birthday. I have advised everyone do NOT every patronize this location. It was a slow afternoon so it's not like the place was busy. Next time I will go to the Perry, Georgia location. I am placing this complaint on Facebook, Yelp, and other social media avenues. Don't go, bad management. On Mother's Day we went and after being ignored by hostess for at least 10 min was informed that there would be a 15 min wait. No problem, but while waiting we noticed a musty smell and the temperature in room was becoming unbearably hot. Was informed that the AC has been broken for a more than one day. Now if I can get an AC repair man out to my house in less than 24 hours I'm sure Applebee's could if management was actually managing. The smell though was the real reason we left. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. It was so bad, I downloaded yelp and created an account just to write this. Absolutely, positively, the nastiest place I've been in years, if not ever. My beer glass looked as if it was taken from the dirty dishes and used for "clean". The service was horrible. The chicken tenders were actually ok but, I never was offered silverware or a refill/fresh dirty beer. Save your money, if you're thinking of Applebee's, don't. was told by the female bartender at 11pm with only four tables and they all had their food we won't be serving you. party of 8 keep in mind. we're short staff, rude and shouldnt have a job there. I went on to say we're all hungry and we're paying customers. she said she isn't gonna seat us together. we said that's fine then split us up and that was a big ordeal with her. also- food was cold and served us small to go containers with our meal in them when we were in house eating was charged full price. the triple chocolate melt cake was to be warmed up and was cold and Center was frozen solid. if this place is short on staff then close the location. oh and your rude and snotty female bartender had her wig or clip on hair in people's food and drinks. look on video she was always swinging her hair around and was in her face etc. I'm sure the health department would love to know that. was interesting bartender was nice to her customers at the bar to get them drunk and so she can get good tips and she was nothing but nasty and rude. keep in mind I asked to see manager and she said we don't have one. read more

Awesome staff and food was great... Only reason for four stars is that the menus could be a bit more descriptive.. I ordered the cheese burger egg rolls and was not aware there are pickles in them.. Waited 10 minutes before we had somebody ask is we'd had our drink order taken. 5 minutes later, we were about to leave when we saw the young man who took our drink order talking to a young woman (waitress?) who was starting at us with a puzzled look on her face (making us very uncomfortable) the whole time he spoke to her. We thought she was going to come take our order, but then she disappeared into the kitchen. The young man came over and said he was sorry, he was in training and didn't know what was going on, but he was going to take over and take care of us. Well, he did a very good job. The manager eventually came out to ask us how everything went, but really she was too little too late. She'll be lucky to keep an employee like the one we had waiting on us as clearly few if any of the other employees there were worth hiring to begin with. Management is the real issue here, and it has been so at this location for some time. Try Roosters right down the street, you'll be much happier. read more

Not only was your bartender one of the most professional people I have ever met but his attention to detail and his knowledge of the menu was incredible. its not often one gets to see a master at his craft. If anyone has the time to be wowed I highly suggest meeting Brian Applebee's bartender. Horrible service. Took about 25 minutes to get my beer order correct (was only a corona) then after we placed our order we got an appetizer. It came in about 20 more minutes and didn't come with plates or napkins or silverware for the table. We ate with our hands and then waited another 35 minutes for our food when all the tables around us got their entrees before us and we had been there for an hour plus. When the food finally came out none of it looked appetizing. Like it was thrown together in a hurry and slapped down in front of us. Over the years Applebees was a great place for family, friends, co-workers and anyone who desired great food, in a great environment. However, the bell shape curve is in the downward move. The employee's look awful with tatoo's everywhere, and the service is terrible. I feel like they do not want customers in the restaurant. Not sure if this is a management issue, a moral issue and or compensation issue. Management has lost touch with this Albany, GA area community and I am sure the bottom-line is affected tremendously in losses. Very poor service and lazy staff. Had a very unpleasant experience here this week. We come here somewhat regularly and usually have decent, if not really good, service. But this particular night, if was so awful, we ended up leaving. It started when we were seated, and no one waited on our table for at least 10 minutes. We noticed that there were two places at the bar so we moved there. Again, pretty much ignored. Finally I caught the bartender's eye (she wouldn't even look at us for a while), and asked her if we were invisible. She told me she had a full bar here and I said yes, but you have fed and served most of them. Definitely not trying to play the race card, but it was quite obvious to me that she was ignoring us because we were "different" from most of the other customers. This is a typical Applebee's , not great, not bad. We were greeted and seated quickly and the server arrived within a couple of minutes. The server was in training and had a few problems but, handled her "newness" well. This was a Monday night and there were a few persons arriving to watch TV and drink. We expected the noise level to get out of hand but, did not. On other trips to this Applebee;s the music has been too loud. The food did not arrive quickly but, the wait was not excessive. We ordered a hamburger and two orders of the Riblets. The hamburger was well prepared and attractive. The iceberg lettuce had a bad taste and had to be removed. The Riblets were the standard Applebee's fare. The serving of french fries on both platters were anemic, more the size of a child's order at McDonald's, not up to par for a $13 platter. From a business stand point: the server did not suggest an appetizer or dessert. Follow up during the meal was minimal. The booth was clean as were the floors and the men's room. read more

this is the first negative review i have done for a restaurant - normally I will forego writing about a place I didn't really care for - but i can't believe the horrible experience I had here - normally it's bearable but tonight was the last straw - to start off with i never got my salad that came with the entree and after bringing it to the waiters attention (after he placed the entree on the table) he apologized and said he would bring me one then - why am I going to let my food turn cold to eat a salad??? - then I attempted to open my silverware and the napkin was fused shut with some kind of brown stuff inside it - then the "manager" came by to check on me (3minutes later) and offered once again to bring me a salad and realized I didn't have silverware so grabbed some off the other table - when I opened it with her standing next to me this pack was dirty as well - so her reply was would you care for some plasticware - really..... - after 5 minutes of waiting for clean silverware I finally got some and was able to start my meal - about half way through the waiter brings me my salad..... my meal was comped in the end but I will not be back read more

First let me give props where due...the hostess was spot on. After that things went downhill. We went on a Sunday, so being busy was not really an excuse. After waiting about 10 minutes to be approached by the waiter (who had to have been new so I'll cut him SOME slack), we placed our order (pitcher of beer, apps, soup,salad and entree). Beer took forever. I guess the bartender was too busy watching tv because there was maybe 2 guest at the bar and a total of 6 tables full in the restaurant. Then the entrees came out complete with overcooked steak. Then the apps. Still no soup or salad. We asked for the manager who obiviously didn't give a damn. She was busy making copies for the 8 top. She stopped by briefly to ask how things were and when we told her got no apologies on excuses that the waiter put the entrees in first. I've worked in a kitchen and that was a BS excuse and then offered to recook the steak. The manager on duty needed to do a lot more to connect with her customers..not just the ones she seemed to know. I know I overheard the table behind us complaining too. Such a departure from the Applebees I go to at home. The waitress there is the baraometer by which I compare all waitstaff. I kind of felt sorry for the waiter. He was at a loss with no support from management. $10 off was given and if a sincere apology was given I would have washed my hands of it....but the lack of sincerity or even concern about my experience will ensure when I go to Albany again I will not eat there. read more

I must say that the service that we received last night was simply awesome. We were reluctant to go at first because of the crowds that normally hang our here but I am glad that we changed our minds. We walked in and sat at the bar. We were greeted by a really nice bartender by the name of Sam. She was very helpful in suggesting a drink for me to try since I am not an experienced drinker. Our dinner order was taken quickly and because of our oversight Sam quickly reminded us that it was happy hour and showed us how to spend HALF of what we were going to originally spend. We were happy of course! The manager Jeff was simply awesome. He came over and greeted us with a smile. He's new to the area but really seem to love his job. He has a very pleasant personality. Because of the great service we received we spent more $ and stayed longer enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. I don't live here in Albany but have come to Applebee's on several different occasions and have always received mediocre service. This visit was the total opposite. We told friends about the great service we received and when I am back in the area I plan on coming back to Applebee's IF Sam and Jeff are working! Kudos to you both! read more

The last two times I have decided to eat dinner here have been horrible. The first time I order wings and I requested all flats. I was told I couldn't have all flats. The server brought part of my order out then by the time I was done eating brought the rest which was about 20 minutes later. The second time the host sat the group down after waiting for two hours, we sat for 30 minutes before someone even took our drink order.
