Wow never ran into a manager like the woman in charge tonight. We ordered Creole shrimp as an appetizer. It was brought out with the entree. It was mushee and coated in so much grease (creole butter) that it was unacceptable to eat. I infomed the waiter, who then informed the manager, whom I did not ask to speak to. She comes to my table and informs me that it is the butter, and then proceeded to go into a loop about the butter. Listen I hear you but all I'm saying is it not worth eating, she comes back and goes into a rant (loopin again) about not giving me a refund. Listen missie, I don't care about a refund, I am just letting you know that it is not good. Basically a loss of a customer forever because she doesn't have people skills. End result we had to listen to some more looping about something else for 10 mins until she finally went and brought us our check so we could leave. Very good food, wait staff is attentive, and a spacious covered veranda with fans so seating is rarely an issue. Must have their FRESH oysters and the wedge salad is a meal in itself. Take a friend, celebrate something, or just let someone else make your meal. You will enjoy it. read more

Atmosphere is great. They found the ball game my husband wanted to watch. I ordered pulled pork. It was dry. Even with all the sauces, I will take it home and rework it. Mac and cheese was great!!!! Came here while my kids were in school. It's my husbands birthday. We got our waters my husband noticed a bug. We got another one. My oysters came we are eating and I notice that there is a long hair basically baked in my oysters. I get a manager and she was happy to replace the oysters and I asked for just something off the bill didnt want it to be free, she took off $2.90 and my bill was $90.80. I give Austin's an overall 4 stars because the food is pretty good, but sometimes the service is lacking. I've ordered through the curbside pickup a few times and it seems that they are always leaving part of my order out. This just happened again last week when I ordered. I sent my BF to pick the order and forgot to tell him to check it before he left. He arrived home and sure enough they had left my order of fried okra out. My advice would be to make sure you're double checking your Togo orders because it's not a good thing when people have to come back to get what was left off. read more

The food was terrible, and the service even worse. The staff did not know what beers were on tap and the restaurant did not have a proper drink menu. We ate here about two months ago and thought it was so great that maybe we stumbled on a new go to spot! Went back a month ago and it was good but not like prior visit. Treated a friend to lunch today and he probably thinks my taste in restaurants totally sucks and I would not blame him. Today around 1:30, we ordered our drinks, local brewery beer, and we waited, waited... so long we thought they must've had to drive to the brewery to get it - probably 15 or 20 minutes. I could've went to the grocery store across the street, and down a little, and back with two beers faster than they were delivered to us in the restaurant. That is no exaggeration! So about 15 minutes after we get our beers, we get fried mushrooms and catfish fingers. Asked for a second small dish of tartar sauce when the catfish fingers were delivered but by the time we got it, we had already ate the catfish fingers. I mean it had been another 10 -15 minutes. These things were getting cold. We hadn't been given any utensils or napkins yet. Grease dripping down right fingers, drinking beer with left hand... NOT what you would expect from this place!!! So 20 minutes after we got the mushrooms and catfish fingers we get our dozen oysters - the server said they had to put them in the oven a second time for some reason. Anyway, I thought there was a mixup in the kitchen because it looked like somebody already ate the oysters and these were just the empty shells. However, upon a closer, and painfull ($27) review, and I do have 20-20 vision. They were just tiny oysters hidden by the Jalapeño slices on top of them. Maybe two or three were the size of a nickel, but most were the size of a dime. I should've said something at this point but I didn't. This was supposed to be a fun get together not a downer. We asked for some horseradish sauce for some filler and by the time it arrived the oysters were cold. And it was not a good filler either. Our waitress, Consuela, did a superb job of managing the staggering guests by taking their drink orders first promptly returning with the beverage, and taking their food order. When in Albany, this is about as good as it gets. I have dined here four times, and will likely keep coming back. Things I like on their menu: The fish tacos are delightful, with several options for the fish. I usually go with the fried grouper, but you can get grilled or blackened as well. I also have found that the flat iron steak is pretty amazing. I did not have high expectations for it, the first time, but was pleasantly surprised. A month or so later, I tried it again, and found it to still be a great choice. It is way more tender than you would expect, with good flavor. The sides are all good, at least the ones that I have had so far. The cheese grits are a favorite. We have had most of their oyster selections and wing selections at the table with groups. The "kitchen sink" oysters seem to be about the best bet. All-in-all, it is nice to know this place is here, in the land of the fried food! Service has been above average each visit. The food was terrible. I dine all the time, and this has been the worst experience. I ordered the chopped steak meal, kid's nuggets, and wings. The only thing that was right was the wings for my granddaughter. The chopped steak and the nuggets were burned. The server came by I addressed my concerns. The manager came out and I showed and told her that the food was both burned and that I ordered soft fried nuggets and that the chopped steak was burned. She took and came back and said this is well done, I told her I come here all the time and that this is not how either should be. I waited for a long period of time, both grands had finished their meal, I was still waiting on my meal. The chopped steak after the wait and was brought back there were still issues with it, the mashed potatoes and the gravy was not replaced with new. I left the food and ask the server to bring my ticket so I could leave. The manager did not come back to see if all was well. The server charged me for a kids drink when it should have been free. She asked the female manger about the error, she said since I paid for it there is no refund. I did not look at the ticket, just trusting that all was well. The manager did not try to make things right not even offered a complimentary visit. I spent $42.08 on this visit, and $20.98 worth that was terrible. I come to the FireGrill often and this has been the worst meal ever. Done! The server was great with a heartfelt apology. read more

Do not come for the what they call bottomless mimosa Saturday, they ran out after just one glass and then tried to charge the bottomless price then charged 9.00 for one crappy glass of champagne. service was descent but extremely slow. This place has very low star ratings and I'm not really sure why... my team and I came to try them out after many locals recommend it to us. From the second we hit the door we knew we were in for a Damn good time. Our server Consuela was amazing. Very honest and personable, if you come here you will want to be in her section. As for the food we ordered the steak tils and they were pretty good. For the mains we ordered the Jambalaya, Cajun pasta,and Flank steak and we had zero issues with the food. There was one almost issues but our server was on it before the food got to the table. Our drinks were strong and made correctly. You need to stop by and give a try. I pride myself on writing in depth, honest and useful reviews. I rarely give a score of 1 or 2 however in this case... We arrived on a very busy night. That being said the service was as slow as I've ever had it! Seeing as that we were seated at a low room divider table right next to the kitchen, it seemed (because we could hear loud and clear) as the blame was the kitchen. The expeditor seemed flummoxed as well. Waiters also unprofessionally chit chatted, laughed and gossiped right there. Speaking of where we were seated. They held and bagged to go orders right beside my head. Right. Beside. My. Head. And since our table was at the end where they prepared drinks (not the bar) and waiters came and went, it seemed feasible to just stop next to our table, yell over us and point her finger right between our faces to the kitchen instead of taking 10 more steps. We were even served our salads over that divider. Our oysters came out first and not too slow and they were yummy! But it went down from there. Took about 30 - 45 minutes to get the salads, then before our salads were near finished they bombarded us with the rest of the food. We could barely eat because there was no room on the tiny table for two. We needed a good 6 inches more. Food: the bacon wrapped shrimp was good, a little over seasoned and the brussels had no seasoning. Go figure. The catfish fingers were outstanding, saved the meal. The Brunswick stew was terrible. I'm a Brunswick stew connoisseur.... it was way too sweet, like sugar actually was added to it. One spoonful was too much. BUT the worst was the crab cake! Just don't. My date took two bites and commented he didn't much like it. I put my fork in it and before it reached my mouth, I knew, canned crab. I confirmed with my waiter. It was horrible, tasteless and watery. Apparently they didn't drain the CAN enough. Ugh. They also didn't take it off our check which they should have. Two hours later we left the chaos, terrible food and extremely unprofessional staff behind and went back to our hotel. If you're a businessperson passing through, keep on passing. read more

I recently was in Albany with my wife and friends and had the occasion to try Austin's Firegrill. I had never been there and another friend said that it was a particularly good place to have dinner. As there is only one of these and you never know when a place is going to close in Albany, I decided let's give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. Austins bills its self as A seafood and or strip bar, and sandwich shop, and steakhouse. Their menu is about like a Locos only with more stuff and better offerings. It's pretty varied and there's something for everyone. This particular evening we noticed they have barbecue. There is finally a decent barbecue joint in Albany, that's open on Sundays. I opted for ribs with a side of coleslaw and baked beans. This slaw was of the creamy and less sweet type. If you put a little black pepper on it it is perfect, although it was lacking in acidity, and element of any good cold vegetable dish even coleslaw. The beans were like bush's only better. It was as if someone who really knew how to cook baked beans had made them from scratch, maybe these are really good food service beans or maybe somebody here actually knows how to cook baked beans. Being a fan of those type things, I truly would've liked a whole bowl of them instead of a side. The main event was the ribs, they bring out some sauces but what you really have is six or eight very meaty delicious dry rub St. Louis style ribs. They were falling off the bone, you could pick them up but if you grab them by the bones chances are you would come away with a bone. They were just that well cooked. They were not dried out. Karen had some of their pulled barbecue which clearly was made from pork shoulder and smoked hams, it was not a cheap cut of meat in fact I would say it was some of the best pulled barbecue that I've had in a long time. It was not dry it was not greasy it was a very good quality. Everything in the restaurant was very clean. Even the men's room was clean. There was still a pretty heavy after church crowd at 3 o'clock when we got there, it was clearly a destination for large parties. There was a family of 12 near us and when they left another group of about 18 showed up. This was not a problem for the restaurant, it is roomy and comfortable. The service staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. You really can't ask for much more. read more

I'm not liking the atmosphere here. I waited 20 minutes for the server to serve another couple before me and my fiancé. The other couple was much younger and they did not ID them for alcohol and they were white. I'm a lot older and black and the young white lady ID me and my fiancé. If there is a policy that allows their servers to pick and choose who they ID please let me see it. Because this server broke several state laws. read more
