We sat for a good 7-10 minutes at the bar and there was no bartender to be found. We finally got our drinks and ordered an appetizer. When our spinach artichoke dip was served more than half the chips where too small to even use in the dip. I assume we got the remnants of an empty bag. We were ignored for much of the visit as the "regulars" were well card for. We had to wait for the bartender to finish socializing with others to close out our tab. On the 28th, my family and I came into Applebees for dinner later in the evening. First, it took forever for a server to actually greet us. Then after ordering our food, they messed up a club sandwich 3 times before actually getting the order correct. On top of all that, I ordered a chicken sandwich. Which was actually really good at the time. However, it's been two days now and I have been dealing with food poisoning. I was in town to meet my new bosses and find a place to live for relocation. I have never complained about any business before but the dirt and filth that I found at this restaurant were unbelievable. When I visited a friend that worked at this restaurant, the kitchen was filthy, the water in the dishwasher had not been emptied from the day before and I was told this was not unusual. They were serving lunch and the dispenser that provides soap for the dishwasher was empty. The water temp was warm at best in the dishwasher. I cannot stress to you enough. DO NOT EAT HERE!! Horrible service. Horrible food. They were not that busy but it took 10 minutes to bring 4 of us water and tea. After that we ordered 2 apps and our meals. It took 20 minutes to bring our apps and 5 minutes after that we got our meals. Our app was ok but our food was cold. All we ordered was chicken tenders and some pasta. First of all, why it takes 30 minutes to deliver is beyond me. Second, it was obviously ready and sitting in a window somewhere getting cold. Third, we had our pasta recooked and a manager never came by to apologize or anything. Welllllll let's see.... it's a Saturday at 8:30 and the place is 3/4 empty. We just dropped in for a dessert and a drink, but should have realized what a comically bad idea it was. Our server was clueless.... like bad clueless... she had no idea what was on the drink menu and said that she had never had someone order the "bourbon and berries" before (which was a "signature cocktail" on the menu). My wife ordered a mudslide which is an ice cream based drink but came out like milk chocolate and the drink I ordered came out in a half filled beer glass (picture for reference). We ordered a blinder and a chocolate meltdown cake. The chocolate cake was decent but the blonde was cold in the middle with ice cold sauce even though the menu depicted it on a hot skillet with warm sauce etc etc. The point is .... this place is rough. Had a late evening meal at this location after a days travel from MD. It was located close to our hotel and it seemed ideal. Ignoring previous reviews, there was 4 of us to take a chance. We were seated immediately and served our drinks and appetizers as fast as expected. The waitress was good and interacting. I ordered the Salsa Verde Beef Nachos and the Bourbon street chicken and shrimp. With a average wait time our food was delivered as ordered and was cooked perfectly. This was my second or third time to this Applebee's. We hadn't been back in over a year until now. I was not impressed in the least and had a bad experience last time with service amongst everything else. This time was so different from the moment we pulled up. We saw a couple of reserved parking and I figured it was take-out parking or something. It said, "US Veterans Reserved Parking" WOW.... that is great! The manager greeted us at the front and seated us. He was friendly and it was a great welcome. The server took a bit longer than expected to get to the table, however, she was friendly and upbeat. We ordered appetizers and an entree and one of the appetizers didn't taste right. They took care of it and gave me a new one immediately. They didn't ask what I wanted, but made suggestions and made it right immediately. Her pleasant personality and quick to fill our drinks often topped the great service and food all around. The only suggestion would be to turn down the music some. I don't know if it is a new manager, but definitely changes have been made for the good. I'll go back if I'm in the area again. read more
