Was in Bemidji en route to go ice fishing. I didn't know where to go but when I saw Paul Bunyan Road I knew that I'd be in throes of chain restaurant row. My buddy and I saw the local Applebee's and knew that there really was but one choice. We were going I be eating good in the neighborhood. Rolled up in around 11am. Would I like the larger beer for an extra buck? That's a dumb question. It's 11. So be sure to have a back up in queue because I'm ready to hit it hard. Wings are 1/2 price you say? Fire up two orders and point me to the bathroom so I know where I'll be headed in 45 minutes. Oh yeah. Get xl beer 3 ready. I'm in Bemidji and it's time to party. The first shift bartender cheerfully obliges and humors my friend and I from the opening bell until her sift ends and the new bartender comes on. What a gal. Does she look familiar? Spearmint Rhino? Maybe. But I digress. At this point we think it is a great idea to order frozen blue drinks. And it IS a great idea. There is no way I'm gonna be hung over tomorrow. Anyhoo. Bartenders were great. Got the all you can eat riblets and all you can eat chicken tenders, wow, was this good I got the riblets with the Texas spicy barbecue sauce, ribs were fall off the bone good, did not taste the spicy in the sauce but still good just a tad sweet for my taste but added some A-1 to my plate and set to go. Ate here with 4 others. We ordered appetizers and they were really good. This part was nice and needs to be said. We had a special request for 2 items and our waitress was busy at another table. So, we asked the food server that was bringing out food orders to other tables. He seemed very glad to bring us what we needed and I appreciated that. When passing through Bemidji late last month, we stopped at Applebee's where on entering, there was neither a greeter nor a sign to wait for seating/be seated. As there were few people, we seated ourselves near the front. Someone finally approached us, asking if we had seated ourselves. We said yes, and he muttered something about the greeter not being where he/she should be. We then ordered two grilled chicken salad entrees. When they arrived with no chicken, we asked that they be corrected. The response was to bring two saucers of emaciated cold chicken strips that were supposed to let us "build our own" salads. I asked the waitperson why she didn't take the half-salads back to the kitchen and do them correctly. This, she apparently intended to do, becoming quite upset in the process. While we waited some more, I turned to see who else might be present and saw that the booth behind us, though vacant since before our arrival, was littered across the aisle with food scraps and trash. But instead of using the quiet time to tidy up, the personnel sat at a table at the rear, chatting and drinking. Finally, a portly man in a soiled shirt and slacks approached us, asking if we had a problem with the order. Unable to avoid looking at his soiled demeanor, I told him that bringing out two entrees that were incomplete and then expecting the guests to "do it yourself" wasn't why we were there. I also commented on the man's untidy appearance, and he said that he was doing the cooking! No apron, no proper kitchen attire -- but he was apparently the cook! Finally, without receiving our reworked orders, I stood to leave and was encouraged by this person's admonishment to do just that. So we traveled down the street to Perkins, where after telling the sad tale at Applebee's we found that some of the personnel who worked there had left Applebee's. None of them were surprised. I also notice that on a popular restaurant review website, Applebee's in Bemidji is rated #79...below McDonald's and Burger King! read more

I had some kind of shrimp stir fry. It was good but everything here seems to be prepackaged and they dump it on a plate and nuke it, then add a few topping items. The service was good and the entire staff seemed professional and efficient. This Applebees appeared to be well run. Everything was clean and arranged "just so". If I was camping out in the Walmart parking lot, I would go back. I almost missed it. Its kind of hidden off to the side out of view from the front of Walmart. read more

Absolutely love applebees!! Every single time I go the staff is so nice and is really helpful when someone doesn't know what to get. They helped my mom find food on her whole 30 diet and it's super hard to find something at a restaurant on it!! The three cheese penne is my favourite, best pasta I've had in Bemidji by far and isn't too badly priced. They have little game things to keep kids entertained while you wait and it's $2 to play but it's worth it if your kids are impatient. The salads are amazing as well, super fresh and good. Hit and miss at this location. Most evenings me and my hubby like to choose this as our date night spot and it's always been great. Today rubbed me wrong from start to finish. We get there and they had someone from state of Minnesota asking every customer questions which I found tacky. I was given our meals my sandwich had so much fat I couldn't eat it. Our waiter never asked how our meal was or I would have mentioned the sandwich was gross. Was never given any refills. On Saturday afternoon my friends and I decided to eat at an Applebee's after a round of golf. Having had nothing to eat all day, we were all very hungry. After walking in, our hostess had us seated almost right away with our waiter waiting on us for beverages. After deciding on what we wanted to eat, we placed our orders and within 10 minutes or so, our food was right in front of us. The food was great and with the service being so quick and friendly, we will definitely be coming back again sometime in the future. read more

All 6 of us who was seated were all polite and nice towards her and did nothing to get the rudeness from this lady. She got an attitude with me when I asked for a plain cheeseburger with ketchup and cheese. She then gave a really snarky reply. A safe bet for a decent meal. The drinks are the spendy bit, the meals are pretty reasonable. The food is pretty consistent and I haven't had anything that was just awful. We have recently started to do the carside to go option and that is a great for those times you don't want to cook, but still sit around the dining room table with the family and have something other than pizza. Some of the wait staff are better than others, but overall they do pretty well as a whole. We don't eat here a lot, but I would say that at least half of the time we have had a manager stop by our table to ask how our meal was. read more

Went recently for drinks and food. Food was fine, waited forever for refills. Waitress eventually came back a half hour later complaining about how long her shift was and threw the check at us. Waitress really didn't seem like she wanted to be there, or us for that matter. It's a shame, I like their food as a quick cheap dinner, but this place has really gone downhill over the last few years. Just returned from dining at Applebee's Restaurant in Bemidji MN. It was difficult deciding what to order due to the wide variety of entrees on the menu, everything looked and sounded good. I decided to order the portabella mushroom chicken. It was delicious and an excellent choice. Our server was Sarah. She was very efficient, courteous and friendly. Terrible, terrible, terrible, F. Went to Applebee's with relatives tonight. Party of 7. Got in pretty quickly and placed our order. For they first thirty minutes the server was Johnny in the spot and returned to the table to ask if we needed anything else. Then she disappeared for a half hour. When she finally returned, this time 1+ hour into our visit, she said the kitchen hasn't even started to prepare our food order and she had no ETA on our food. We said we'd prefer just to cash out and go elsewhere, as our kids' patience was wearing very, very thin, sitting in a small booth with no food all this time. The server said she would "comp" some of our drinks for our trouble. When she came back with the ticket we discovered she comp'd the kids drink and was charging $14 for the two other drinks we had (beer, mudslide). Despite their huge failure Applebee's "went cheap" on us, trying to squeeze us for every penny. It wasn't until we complained to a manager that the other drinks were comp'd as well, It'd be one thing if this was an isolated incident, but it's not. These type of service short comings are routine at Applebee's of Bemidji. I'm quite surprised they are still in business. read more

This is the worst Applebee's that I have ever been to. The service is awkward and uncomfortable. I even had one of the servers lie to me about a drink special. The food is also sub par. We have had to send food back multiple times because it wasn't cooked enough or put together correctly (the cowboy burger is supposed to have crispy onion tanglers - as per the picture and description- but I was served a burger with fried onions. When I asked about the onion tanglers they brought out some large chunks of coarsely chopped onions that they had tossed in the deep fryer for a few seconds. While this happened they left my burger out to get cold). My boyfriend had to send his burger back twice and it was actually cooked long enough. We have also had undercooked wings. Overall, experiences here are never pleasant and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This was so disappointing. I love the Oriental chicken salad. I always order extra dressing on the side. It came with zero dressing and so many crunchy noodles there was hardly any lettuce. My husband's club looked like someone mashed it with there hand and the fries were cold and soggy. We we're never offered a refill on our beverages . We were only having pop and iced tea. Problem was there were plenty of servers and it wasn't slammed with people. Won't be back for a long time. If ever. Honestly. How do you ruin a salad and a club sandwich? Smh read more

Went to Applebee's for lunch today, 3/23/18. Friendly service. Food was terrible. Ordered 8 oz sirloin ( med well ) and fries for my wife and myself. Steaks came medium rare, cold on inside and so bloody it ruined the first two layers of fries. Sent them back and instead of cooking the steaks we sent back they cooked 2 different steaks. Mine was freezer burnt, tough, and cooked well on one side medium raw on other. Still had marks where the jockey was whipping it. Wife's was medium but still cold inside. Manager took entrees off of ticket and said to come back and give them another chance. No way! Got home and my 2 year old German Shepard/ Husky mixed breed dog turned his nose up at both steaks! I will never stop at any Applebee's anywhere ever again. read more
