If you didn't have sauce, the pork itself would've been so so dry. Then for a half rack of ribs - that's the smallest 1/2 rack I've seen. Cole slaw: It was good enough, except it had cilantro in it. First off.... the entire place looked dirty. Our mozzarella sticks were barely cooked. The drinks we had tasted like soap. My husband and I both did not like our entrees. My husband and I just had dinner here. I have to say it was the worst meal either of us have had. I had the southwest chicken salad, he had the rib platter. They had split the ribs because he kept finding bone fragments throughout all the meat so instead of giving him the whole rack of ribs they had split the ribs horizontally and there was hardly any meat and mostly bone. Mine was the Southwest chicken salad which was a strange mixture of about half a chicken breast, which did have a good flavor but that was about all. It also had this seasoned rice that was totally out of place from the rest of the meal. Some diced tomatoes which was suppose to be poco de Gallo, and fried corn - which also had a nice flavor some guacamole with no dressing on the salad. All this was perched on a few pieces of iceberg lettuce. It was a $49 dollar meal that was only worth a few bucks. This is the third time we have eaten there and it will be our last. The waitress was very pushy by asking three times in within 5 mins if we wanted to order, in the past by you laying your menu down on the table was the signal for the waitress to come and take your order not when you're still looking at it. I felt very rushed. As far as ambiance, there was none. And er are done patronizing that place. read more

Dirty silverware and flies in the water. Dishes were dirty also. The silverware and plates for appetizers were covered in crumbs. Got water that had a bug in it. Got another water that also had a bug in it. Went to take second glass to the bar and was told, "Don't worry, we won't charge you for the bugs." So, it's an Applebee's. I quit going to Applebee's because I wanted to in high school. I only go to an Applebee's because options are either limited or because someone I'm hanging out still really enjoys eating here. With all that being said, the one in Chillicothe, MO isn't the worst. My boyfriend and I were choosing between here and a restaurant on the other side of town, so we opted for the time saving option. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service here. My boyfriend and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, I got a Tex Mex bowl and he got a Chicken & Shrimp dish with garlic mashed potatoes. The Spin Dip was good. Maybe not the best, but still good. My boyfriend said some of the chips were stale. Well, I just thought that some still had a bit too much oil on them rather than being stale, but in any case, the chips weren't perfect, but they were ok. A downer about Applebee's is that they aren't the friendliest place to go for vegetarians. They don't even offer a plant-based burger patty to sub in for their burgers. This would be so easy to do, so it is frustrating (and also why I don't voluntarily eat here often). In any case, asked our server if they did have something like that and they didn't. Realizing that I'm a vegetarian, she did give me some options on what to order and told me what to steer clear of. That was awesome because otherwise, I would've had some spin dip and a side salad, which wouldn't be super satisfying. The service here kept me from having another bummer experience here. The Tex Amex bowl I ordered was filling, though I hate paying the same price for something with no meat. Again, it'd be easy to offer a vegetarian bowl at a base price then have those who want meat added to pay an up-charge. I am not a fan of the "open kitchen" Applebees's design in this restaurant. The kitchen is loud! Dishes banging and clanging, servers talking loudly to be heard over the kitchen sounds. We were seated basically next to the kitchen so we got to hear it all with great acoustics. My favorite was hearing every cuss word the servers said to each. I'm no prude, but come on! All this noise made it hard to hear my date. When we sat in the booth, my date's seat had broccoli and a fry in it. Yummmm. The food: the loaded waffle fries were delicious. The fajita/fiesta wrap was plain and tasteless, according to my date. I had the four-cheese Mac and cheese with honey chicken strips. It was Alfredo, not Mac n cheese. And the chicken strips were so crispy, they actually hurt to eat. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but most of the staff was focused on the table next to us. Clearly, a staff member or a staff member's kid just recently had a baby and had brought the baby in to visit. The constant coming and going of staff from the kitchen to that table (and talking from that table over to the kitchen) was very distracting. Applebee's just costs way more than this kind of experience is worth. As we drove away, my date commented that it was one of the most expensive meals we have had in town. We usually get car side to go. Food is always very good. It's always brought out in under 5 minutes after our arrival. My daughter and I usually order the Sirloin Steak rare. It's always cooked to perfection. Husband usually gets the bacon cheeseburger with fries. read more

Worst Applebee's I've been to ever. Server just shrugged at my questions regarding the beverage availability and had to leave and come back to answer questions when just giving us the menu would have answered our inquiry. Ordered the oriental chicken salad straight from the menu description ("crispy breaded chicken tenders") and received grilled chicken. Server response was that grilled is an "option". I showed her the menu description and she responded by shrugging her shoulders again. She did bring me the salad, as described on the menu, followed by a take out box less than 10 minutes later. Brown old lettuce, sticky bathroom floors. I had to wait another 15 minutes after the rest of my party was delivered their food, and almost halfway through, before I even got my order. No apologies, no manager visit, no comp.... no more of my business. read more

It is crazy rare for me to write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so as I think this literally might be the worst service I've ever received. We came through from out of town, and all we wanted were a couple beers at the bar in the restaurant. The restaurant was not busy at all. When we first got there, I even heard them talking about cutting a staff member at 7:00pm. For much of the time, the bartender and manager were on their personal phones and/or complaining to each other about the other workers (within ear shot of both the workers and the customers); for another good portion of the time, the bartender simply disappeared. After my first mug of beer, it literally took 19 minutes for me to get another beer. Mind you, the bar can legit only seat 7 people, and again, it wasn't busy. I swear I saw her notice at least 1-2 times that my empty mug was sitting there. It's a clear mug that I set up at the edge of the bar when I was done, so it was obvious I was ready. At one point, I was trying to get her attention, but the manager pulled her away to talk to her, which clearly sounded like it was about workplace drama. As they were walking away, I said loudly, "Could I get another beer?" Neither of them heard me, and sadly, even a guy who said he was a regular acknowledged how crappy it was. As some of this was transpiring, I went to the bathroom and ran into the bartender in there. Without me saying a word, she apologized for it being "chaotic" and said two workers just walked out. Honestly, I don't blame them for walking out based on what I saw and how they were being treated in plain view of the customers. The weird part is, after she apologized, I came back out, still waiting on a beer, and she STILL didn't ask if we needed anything! I finally ordered one last beer after getting her attention, and I asked to close out at the same time since I knew it'd take forever to get her attention again. She said sure but then never closed us out, so after sitting with another empty mug for 10 minutes, she finally pulled the empty mugs away and asked if we were ready to close out. As two people, we ordered only 5 beers between the two of us, and the whole process took more than 2 hours because of how slow and inattentive they were. My partner was even like, "Should we just get out of here?" after the first round already because of how bad it was, but I was like, "Even if we want to leave, we can't because there is no one here to ring us up!" Additionally, I heard them talking about a couple other tables being forgotten, and I also heard the manager kind of belittle one of the servers for it, when as an observer, that waitress seemed to be one of the only people doing anything. I'd consider us to be pretty low maintenance as we don't ask for much. Just a glass of beer when it's empty. I try to be forgiving, and even after all of this, I still left a small tip, thanked them, etc, but man, they could use some serious work on their customer service and tact. Honestly, had we just bought our own beer and drank in the hotel, it would've been more pleasant and it would've been cheaper. read more

Food is always great here, but I ran into a case of false advertising. Just outside of the restaurant is a sidewalk billboard promoting 1/2 priced appetizers after 9:00pm. Since I arrived at 8:20pm, I ordered a drink at the bar to kill time until 9:00. I looked at the menu to chose an appetizer ahead of time. It was the CLASSIC COMBO. When I told my server what I wanted she apologized and told me that the Classic Combo was excluded from the offer even though it was on the appetizer menu. Thought you should all about this issue. By the way, Gonzolo, the restaurant manager tried to comp my Fiesta Chicken meal, but I compromized and accepted half off my meal. I'm not one to accept something for nothing. This is worse Applebee's we have encountered. We waited over 40 minutes for our order and when we got it the hamburger bun top was rock hard & burnt. The bottom bun was soaked with grease and the bacon on the hamburger was barely cooked. The parmesan chicken sauce was just stewed tomatoes with no favoring. The fries with the hambugier were stale & cold. When we complained about the bun they said our food sat under the heat lamp a long time because they were busy with a large group. There isn't many name brand restaurants in small town Chillicothe but Applebee's is one of the favorites. The building look isn't like your typical restaurant. When you walk inside its significantly smaller than other locations but its just right for this town. Their menu is the same, the staff is super nice and will do just about anything you request. The location is right off the highway so people passing through can easily get to it or the locals can get to it. read more

We were staying at a nearby hotel and found this location to be convenient. After a long day of driving, we were ready to grab a bite and relax. The restaurant is small, but well organized. We were greeted politely and given a seat within minutes of arrival. There is a full bar and the drinks do not disappoint. Hubby had the Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp and I had the Sizzling Double Barrel Whiskey Sirloins. Imagine our surprise when both were cooked perfectly. We've eaten at other Applebee's many times and you just never know how the food will come out. Well this evening we had a very nice time and appreciated a bit of hospitality. An older couple, we arrived around 6pm Saturday night and were offered a table for 2 right beside the station where dishes are collected.
