Just passing through and decided here was a good option. The fried mushrooms are delicious (needed a touch of salt, but honestly get them). So I decided on chicken tenders, side salad, and steamed broccoli for the main. I didn't want a huge amount after the appetizer....didn't go as planned which was of course perfectly fine! Great portion sizes and very good food. The buffalo sauce is slightly vinegary, asian sauce very nice, ranch was good, and the fry of the chicken was delicious. Just once again everything needed a touch of salt, but I mean it was on the table so easy fix. My server was very nice and attentive. Overall very nice restaurant with a cozy environment that was great for a nice bite and definitely will be back if we ever come this way again. Driving through northern MO and decided to stop at Blackwater Restaurant for lunch. Good service, food and ambiance. BLT was delicious and French Dip was ok - au jus didn't have a lot of flavor and I prefer cheese on my French Dip but still a good sandwich. I ordered a carry out order of chicken bacon ranch rollup. First the text didn't work to let me know to pick up my order. The food was not good. The fried tasted like old grease. This was our very first trip up to northern Missouri, where we purchased our new home. We dropped in for a bite and ended up regretting it. My husband and I were excited to see prime rib on the menu, so we both ordered it. I was taken back when the waitress brought it out. We ordered medium rare, and both pieces were dark brown. Mine was more well done . The texture was also off, just all around not good. The best part of the meal was the salad, which I do believe was made fresh. My daughter ordered the ribeye, and it came raw and cold in the center. It was so unappetizing, that she had them take it off the bill and she just ate her potato. I have worked 12 years in Chillicothe and never knew that there was food this good in town! A colleague and I visited the restaurant on a Tuesday night. We had no trouble getting a seat and had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. I am told that there is nicer restaurant seating other than the bar and grill side, but the section was closed. Our server was Parker, and he was friendly, professional, and efficient. The salmon entrée was excellent prepared, and truthfully, if the casual decor were disregarded, this could easily be served at a high-end restaurant anywhere. There was a delicious five layer carrot cake to finish my dining experience. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal! read more

Cute place and great food. Onions rings were delicious - breaded but not heavily. Perfect! Chicken and waffles had a great sweetness from the maple syrup, but not overly sweet. High hopes, little let down. Not busy on a Saturday night. Sat on the patio. The two waitresses literally were fighting about who had to take our table. Neither of them wanted to. Waitress was not friendly or welcoming. My friend got a spicy bloody Mary and said it tasted fine. The only spicy part about it was the rim of the glass. I got the rivers edge cocktail, this would be more of a breakfast drink in my opinion. Shared a appetizer of onion rings asked for them extra crispy. See photo. Yikes yikes yikes. This food was just...not good. The best thing I had was the tater tots so I think that says something. I paid $20 or more for a piece of catfish that was wet, slimy and flavorless and the tots that were soaking up the weird catfish juice. The salad was okay...? The best part was our waiter. He was very nice and very funny, so we had a good time with him. So overpriced for such bad food. I doubt i'll ever be back to Chilicothe, but I do hope they are able to make some improvements to the pricing and the menu! read more

Clean. welcoming. greeted quickly by the friendly hostess. we were given our seating choice, menus and flatware. ordered onion rings and fried pickle chips for appetizer. which came with ranch and i believe a spicy chipotle ranch. very good. I have found this restaurant to be hit and miss over the times we have visited regardless of time of day. Today was terrible! My medium burger was presented as almost raw, when asked if I wanted a replacement I said obviously yes. About 10 minutes later the same burger was presented now cooked to a crisp, they literally presented raw to very overdone. I didn't eat it and the management said if you visit again we will cook it on the flattop instead of the grill??? They removed it from our bill with almost no apology. Wife's French did was not good and presented with the cheese not even melted. At lease the tea was decent. Won't go back and wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

I had the smoked turkey club and my husband had the pork tenderloin. Both sandwiches were delicious! Ron helped us and was wonderful. He provided great service and made good suggestions for our meal. Blackwater in Chillicothe for lunch. Table for 10 ppl. Country Burger was supposed to be a burger cooked how you want it, and topped with hasbrowns and a soft egg. Waited an hour for a badly burnt hamburger, an egg that was as hard as a rock and I am not sure if I ever saw hasbrowns. Unedible. Did not want to make a fuss. Showed waitress. I visited Blackwater during a work trip, I ordered the Prime Rib with side salad and green beans. My Prime Rib was cold as well as the green beans which were almost mushy they were so overcooked, the salad has rotten pieces of lettuce mixed in which were probably from an older batch. My waiter was very nice and attentive so I did not have the heart to complain. Would I go back probably one more time as maybe Monday evening at 7:30pm was not the best time to go. Our waiter was good in the beginning but it went drastically downhill. Our appetizer came before our drinks did. Then we got our food, but the side salads didn't come out and we asked to ketchup and ranch for our fries and chicken strips, that never seemed to come. Then we ran out of drinks and those didn't get refilled, he finally came back after our fries were cold and we asked for condiments and the salad again. He finally brought it, but my husband got bleu cheese and he brought the wrong dressing. My husband got the prime rib and would never eat it again, it wasn't medium rare like he ordered, the Mac n cheese was watery and not cheesy. I got a Reuben and the meat was chunky, which wasn't awful, but it wasn't the best I've had. The fries were pretty delicious. The chicken strips my girls had were ok, would have been better warm with ranch but they were cold by the time we finally got the ranch. They weren't great, but decent. Not sure we will go back, the service really pushed it over the top on us not wanting to return. I made the mistake of not looking at yelp first. I get through town on business from time to time and knew this place had opened within the last year. The outside looks very nice. Heard a considerable amount of money had been invested. Cloth tables cloths and napkins. Nice start for small town USA. But goes down hill from there asked the waitress about the special and what was good. I got a confused look and answer. Turned out she may just not wanted to lie to someone. The ice tea was very fresh and fine. That's where we really jump off the cliff. I ordered the pulled pork nachos. Same as the other review says. So wish I would of read it first. The pico looked fine but I am 99% sure the pork was spoiled. I took two bites and that was it. Rotted meat on a bed of Tostitos with some luke warm canned cheese sauce. Yummy! I hope they improve but until then like Ricky Bobbie dad says. "Let's go some place nice!" So they are under new owners and things have changed greatly. Service is excellent. I got the philly and tots and a ice tea. All great. But 16.50 out the door with tip. Seems high for lunch in Chillicothe. The odd thing it was their "special" as the waitress called it. Same price as the menu everyday. Oh well it was very good. Hope they make it this go around.
