I have worked 12 years in Chillicothe and never knew that there was food this good in town! A colleague and I visited the restaurant on a Tuesday night. We had no trouble getting a seat and had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. I am told that there is nicer restaurant seating other than the bar and grill side, but the section was closed. Our server was Parker, and he was friendly, professional, and efficient. The salmon entrée was excellent prepared, and truthfully, if the casual decor were disregarded, this could easily be served at a high-end restaurant anywhere. There was a delicious five layer carrot cake to finish my dining experience. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal!

High hopes, little let down. Not busy on a Saturday night. Sat on the patio. The two waitresses literally were fighting about who had to take our table. Neither of them wanted to. Waitress was not friendly or welcoming. My friend got a spicy bloody Mary and said it tasted fine. The only spicy part about it was the rim of the glass. I got the rivers edge cocktail, this would be more of a breakfast drink in my opinion. Shared a appetizer of onion rings asked for them extra crispy. See photo. These were still good though not super crispy. The dipping sauce was fabulous. Both of us got the chicken ranch wrap. Chicken was very tough and chewy. nothing to rave about. my friend said the sweet potato fries were wonderful. And the regular fries were also good and crispy. Maybe it was just an off night for the restaurant but this overall didn't make me want to come back.

Wonderful time. This (bar)Lounge and Restaurant is a great date night or family spot. Double entrance so you can choose to visit the Lounge or restaurant. We went in the restaurant side. Clean. welcoming. greeted quickly by the friendly hostess. we were given our seating choice, menus and flatware. ordered onion rings and fried pickle chips for appetizer. which came with ranch and i believe a spicy chipotle ranch. very good. Fried catfish sandwich was amazing and large. substituted coleslaw for mac n cheese. fried pork tenderloin was brilliant white and perfectly cooked. breading stayed in the entire time. tender. juicy. fries were crispy. delicious. bathrooms are clean. restaurant is clean. staff is friendly and professional. drinks were filled the whole meal. booth and table seating. outdoor seating available. nice instrumental music playing and soft lighting make a nice intimate tone. good for date. family.

58 dollars for a steak, baked potato, and steamed broccoli. Half of the steak was inedible gristle. I will never go back!!!!

The pistachio cranberry bread was inspirational--a couple of people said they were going to try to make it. The melted chocolate truffle was amazing, as always. My very favorite was the white chocolate mousse--the dot of raspberry sauce was delightful. The mousse was light and airy but also rich and decadent--and my last bite had a white chocolate chip. That was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch. And the coffee, as always, was SOOOOO yummy. Thanks JC Wyatt for accommodating our special Christmas luncheon celebration!

Luckily, that is where the JC Wyatt House comes in. Not only is the food top rate, but the entire experience is amazing. At the JC Wyatt House, you have dinner in an intimate, small dining room inside a Victorian Mansion. Here is how it works. They are only open on Thursday and Friday, 1130am to 1230pm, for lunch and Wednesday thru Saturday, 530pm to 7pm for dinner. Reservations are required and you will choose your main entree for all of your party when you make your reservation. We went for our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes before our 6pm reservation and were seated. At exactly 6pm, our server, Chris, started with our choice of hors d'oeuvres. Either a potato and fresh vegetable soup, or shrimp cocktail. My wife had the shrimp, and I had the soup. Both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the lamb, and my wife had the filet mignon. Both came with potatoes, carrots and a roll. Again, both meals were outstanding. We finished with a dessert trio that was amazing. Besides the fantastic meal, the service was first class, and the ambiance was really special. This is a must visit for an amazing meal. Call today and get your reservations.

If you are looking for the best fried chicken coupled with homemade pies, this is the place for you. I have eaten here several times and always look forward to my next visit. The staff is always friendly and provides very good service. You can order off of the menu, but I recommend the fried chicken buffet. It has fried chicken, usually a second meat choice that changes based on the day, homemade soups, salad, mashed potatoes, and some type of vegetable. Did I mention the fried chicken? Some of the best you will ever eat. There is also a desert bar included with the buffet. It has frozen soft serve ice cream, cookies, and some sort of homemade baked good. So, if you are anywhere near Jamesport, Missouri, do yourself a favor and stop at Gingerich's for an unforgettable meal.

(This review is a repost from my personal blog)…read more When you think of the Amish, do you think beer? Neither do we. So when we heard that there was a bar in the Amish town of Jamesport, MO, it was time for a little road trip. As Missouri's largest Amish community, the horse-and-buggy easily outnumbered the automobile as we arrived in town. We found the tavern on a quaint downtown street, and parked in a small gravel lot next door. The first thing we noticed was two hand-painted pub signs with arrows pointing towards the door. The second thing we noticed was a sign we'd never seen on a bar before -- a sign advertising guns for sale inside. As it turns out, the bar's owners Jim and Shirley are members of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. They build their own black powder rifles and pistols and sell them at the bar. They also do restoration work on black powder guns and supplies. We entered the Jamesport Tavern at about 2:10 on a Saturday afternoon, becoming perhaps the first tourists in the history of Jamesport to come here specifically and only to have a beer here. Our beer was poured and has happened to me on rare occasion, I was "tricked" by the lightweight clear plastic beer mug and nearly got a faceful of my own brew as I lifted my mug with the force normally required for the glass variety. Inside, the Jamesport Tavern is typical of many downtown bars in small towns. The jars of pickled eggs were a nice touch, as were the mega-oversized bags of chips. Souvenier bottle-opener keychains and beer koozies were available for purchase. There was also an odd assortment of koozies under the bar for use within the bar. By the way, before you let your entire view of the balance of the universe fall into in disarray, there is no need to worry. As far as we know, there is still no such thing as an Amish bar. Jamesport Tavern is one of the English merchants mixed in among the Amish businesses.

Good chance you'll run into some names like...Schibby, Humper, Slade, Cockeye, Freaky T., Sliff... If you are lucky, you may hear the sweet sounds of the band, Slow Leak. I think you can buy a house in this area, fully furnished for near $5k. It's very interesting how the Amish are a huge part of the economy. I dare you to walk around with an Obama shirt in this and neighboring towns.
