Arranged for a friend of mine who passed away during his heart transplant, girlfriend and her kids to have dinner and celebrate two birthdays. Adam the manager and his staff helped make it a special evening with great food and service. They helped me arrange to pay for the dinner and accommodate Kathleen the daughter who is confined to a wheelchair. Dinner at Applebees during the pandemic. PA is semi open but the area was pretty empty. Happy to say the service was excellent and the food was pretty good as well. We were happy to get take out during the shut down we ordered online & let them know the exact time we would be there, unfortunately they had our order ready sitting at a table near the back door when I arrived so we paid got our food & ate in the car, our food was cold like it had been sitting with those other 2 orders for 10 mins. I'd have been happy to wait 5-10 mins while my order finished cooking or was being boxed up from sitting under heat lamps so it was warm but nope cold, everything fries, burgers, appetizers, soft pretzels, & chicken tenders. Drinks were perfect because they were suppose to be cold. So while the food was good it was cold. I'll be happy when you can dine in again to be sure to get hot food again. read more

On a cold night, just after New Year's, the man and I decide to head back to the Mitten. We needed gas, weren't very tired and wanted some reliable food that would stick for the next 4 hours of our drive, at least. Applebee's in Clarion was a perfect stop. Open late-ish, until about midnight, with reliable menu items, we went in with meh expectations. The food was absolutely meh, but the service was good and after 5 hours on the road, I'll gladly take that. I don't expect much of chains, but the food got the job done. It wasn't the best meal ever, but the portions were good, it stuck for the next 4 hours and our server was sweet. This is a solid stop if you're on a road trip on 80 going east or west. It's super close to the highway, gas stations and other places of interest to those on the road. No need for more. You know? read more

I've been to Applebee's a few times in different locations because my options were quite limited while on the road. So during one of my road trips I stopped by this Applebee's for lunch. They had a lunch special going on and I had a salad and a sandwich combo. The food was very average and nothing special. I also ordered a strawberry daiquiri and it was water down. The food here is terrible! Totally processed. I believe the kitchen only has the microwaves in it. Go to McDonald's instead. This food at Applebee's leaves a bad taste in your mouth and leave you disappointed that you had to pay for such lousy food. Applebee's is off my list won't ever go back to any Applebee's. I ordered the sirloin medium rare. When it came to the table the waitress asked me to check for doneness. I was well done so took it back and the manager came back with a new steak and it was cook just right. I never had a waitress ask me to check while she stood by. Great way to do business. Cemented my long-standing opinion of Applebee's as being awful. Tortilla chips were super salty, sirloin was rubbery and broccoli tasted like they had been nuked for 20 minutes! I would've been better off bringing a frozen dinner with me to have them microwave in the kitchen. My brother felt sick shortly after eating the pasta. How does one get sick from pasta? Service was great considering the poor waitress has to serve what she has to serve. Asked us several times how are food was and I couldn't bear to tell her the truth-she tried. I started out with a very long wait which was not good as there were many seats open. My waitress overall was very nice. I had the French onion soup and a brunch burger. The French onion soup was what you'd expect from an Applebee's, but it was still good. I've had much worse. On the other hand, the Brunch Burger was very good and it consists of a burger, an egg, and hash browns on the burger. 9/10, I do recommend the Brunch Burger. From the staff opening the doors through the leaving, this Applebee's is a friendly and effortless place to eat. The food is well executed and fresh, wait staff eager to please but not pesky. We can linger, or eat and leave. We especially like the tender garlic steak and the maple- tinged pecan crusted chicken salad. If the staff do not have a ready answer to food questions they check with the kitchen to find out. Restrooms clean, restaurant clean. I was driving from Michigan to NYC and called ahead to order something to eat for dinner when I got to the Hampton in Clarion. Was going to order a salad but saw some new (to me) bowls that looked good. I asked the guy who answered the phone about the bowl (I was thinking of ordering the steak bowl - I love the oriental fried chicken salad but then saw these bowls were quite a bit less caloric than that salad) and he told me how good they are and how he has one almost every time he ends a shift. And he suggested the shrimp bowl, so I took his advice. When I got there, he talked more about how good they were, and also gave me directions to get to my hotel. He was really friendly and helpful and the bowl was terrific. I was so glad I took his recommendation, but more impressed with what a good representative he was of his employer. If there was a nomination for Applebee's national employee of the month, I'd nominate him. I think his name was Derrick. Anyway, he's exactly the type of employee any restaurant would want. read more

KD ( The wwaitress) is very good in customer service. We ordered Savory Cedar Salmon. Since we don't eat Red potato we asked to replace it with rice but The vegetables will remain. We were charged extra $1.49 for When The food arrived, its only Salmon with rice without The veggies. We complained that we need The veggies. Then we were told that The Red potatoes come with The veggies. So we asked them to give us The Red potatoes with veggies since we are payong full price plus extra for Rice. The Red potatoes came with little spinach. We ate The spinach but The Red potatoes were wasted. read more
