Visited this bar/restaurant following the Groundhog Day festivities in Punxsutawney. They are not typically open for breakfast, but were running special hours and a special menu due to the weekend's celebrations. We got two of the breakfast plates, as it was a little too early for the kitchen to do lunch. Though advertised as bacon/sausage, we were automatically given bacon (not sure if they ran out or just forgot to ask if it was supposed to be a choice). The ordering process was simple and food came out very quickly. The place was lively and appeared to be a nice hangout spot under normal operations. Nice place to eat if your in Punxsutawney. Off the Main road next to the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Ctr. Large dining area with a good size bar. I think there live music also. Our waitress, who didn't say "Hello folks. I'm ___, and ill be taking care of you today" was very good and didn't have to write our order down,But it shows lack of training when owners don't push on how to address a party. Menu wasn't large and needed updating, but had a good variety of food to choose from which is nice and not overwhelming. Including a kids menu. Price ranges from $8 to $13+ The food was delicious! Better than most places in the area. Ordered dinner "to-go" and picked up hot, freshly made food as ordered, no mistakes with the special requests- which alone is a great achievement. The steak sandwiches were tasty and good- but very empty for such a big roll. The fries, chips and onion straws were quite good too- and not greasy at all. The wings were crisp and flavorful, but swimming in oil. The salad could not be any more basic- but was fresh. Overall, it was a good meal. First, our waitress Lindsay, when she bothered to come around, was snooty and had a huge attitude. Second, the plate and knife we were given were dirty and when we addressed it with her we were told they're clean and not dirty, but yet you could see the grease and dirt on them. Third, the steak sandwich we ordered was only 30% meat while the rest was pepper and onions. No refills were offered, but she also never bothered to come back to our table at all once food was dropped off. Overall terrible experience. read more

Great sports bar to watch a game, or three, and have a nice drink. I didn't try any food, and from what I have read, that's a good idea. But otherwise, we had a great time at the bar. The staff is wonderful, personable, and take their time to make sure you're drinking something you'll actually enjoy. And there were TVs everywhere to watch any sports we wanted. The food was good, but the service was absolutely awful. My husband ordered fries with his burger. He never got them, but several other tables, that ordered after us, did receive fries with their meals. We asked for the fries to be removed from our bill, but they only took off a small amount. Wings used to be whole and actually wet with sauce. Now you get some form of dry rub and a bill that seems about 10$ high. Cool place! I was in Dubois for training in Brockway for a great company ProChemTech.com. Nothing really much in Brockway or Dubois so headed to where the Ground Hog shows his face or not in Punxsutawney. So cool because I have watched ground hog day like 100 times. I checked in at the Burrow and had a great time. Zach was on staff behind the bar and did an excellent job taking care of my group. Food was very good. I had the Hot pepper cheese balls and ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich to go. It was very good. Good luck and if you have time stop in! read more

Should you find yourself in Punxsutawney- especially if it's Groundhog day weekend- you MUST make a visit to The Burrow! We came by the night of February 2nd ( awe yes, the beloved holiday that makes this town famous) and had one of the most memorable nights ever. They had brought in dueling pianos to perform for the evening- and WOW did they put on quite the performance! I have never had so much fun watching dueling pianos. As my husband urged me to make a request, I couldn't think of anything I really wanted to hear.... they were just doing such a fantastic job of reading the crowd and playing off the group. So FUN! The whole place was bustling and busy- standing room only during the dueling pianos. But the fun didn't stop after the pianos- there was a follow-up act from a local singer (I think he performs there regularly?) who had some great renditions of popular country songs. Very entertaining evening! Service was fantastic. Despite the busy crowds, bar tenders were kind, prompt, and knowledgeable. I will admit I was stunned by our bill at the end of the night- our drinks came out far less than we'd expected. Awesome- more money for the bartender's tip! :) One of the best parts- The Burrow is co-owned by one of the handlers for Punxsutawney Phil. I lost count, but there were at least a majority of the Inner Circle present at the bar. How fun and exciting- and definitely tied the "small town" charm with the visitors for the weekend. What should have been a fun place to stop on Groundhog Day Eve was such a bummer. One beer each and a pretty bad sandwich and we were outta there. Staff seemed annoyed that people were there and it didn't get any better. Not going to waste my time reviewing draft selection or their menu. There were eight of us - which we could have easily have run up a $300 - $400 tab - that will not be going back. Maybe the local staff doesn't like out of towners? "You need to go to The Burrow!" Guess what? The Burrow should stay in hibernation. Nachos covered in Bacon Bits, raw onion and despair. Came here to get a Philsner but they didn't have any and they said they didn't have any local beers on tap :( Bummer. There metered parking out front of the pub and street parking close by. They did have some craft beers on tap which was nice. The bartenders weren't very helpful or outgoing and seemed annoyed with our presence but when in Punxsutawney this is the place to stop for a beer :) read more

Was given a recommendation to come here and it was absolutely a perfect spot for some Punxutawny Philsner and some decent bar foods. The cold draft beer does taste better in a glass vs the plastic cups. So be nice to the bartender and he'll round one up. There were many other beers on tap l; but being a 2 days before Groundhog Day, we stuck to the good stuff. The locals seem to know this place was the place to be. There were couples enroute to a ball, the locals and town officials all in one place. The bar is clean and well lit. The seats were comfy at the bar. Women should like the hangers underneath to hand the purses. The dudes will like the pool table and dart boards. There was plenty of tables and more in the back. Great place. read more

Walked into an empty restaurant w a group of 20 people. Restaurant waitress said that they don't have the kitchen space or the wait staff to serve our large party. Yet, the restaurant was empty. Avoid this place! Seems they are fine turning away a 20-headcount group. read more

Well, I found myself in Punxy for the night, and once settled in, I checked out bar/restaurants on Yelp. I decided on The Burrow because my hotel had a bunch of menus and I liked the look of The Burrow's menu. There's a metered parking lot adjacent, so no parking issues which is good. The place is not particularly appealing on the outside, drab and dark to the point I wasn't even sure they were open! I walked inside, and was pleasantly surprised--it's bigger than I expected, pleasant, bright and clean! Big "C"-shaped bar and plenty of tables from which to choose. I sat at the bar, the the very helpful, friendly bartender (Damn, I wish I'd gotten his name!) was right there and took my drink order (just a draft beer). When he brought the beer, he asked if I was interested in something to eat, and brought a menu. I had to get take-out because my dog, who accompanied me on this trip, was waiting in the car since he won't let me leave him in the hotel. (Don't panic, animal lovers--I left the car running with the A/C on high...and locked, of course! And I was only inside for about 15 minutes.). The menu is about the perfect size and amount of variety. I ordered the chicken salad and a side order of onion petals. Had a bit of time to get a feel for this bar. Maybe 8 guys at the bar, and a couple tables were full, and most of the patrons seemed to be locals...who always know the best places! There's a pool table, a couple state-approved poker-type machines, and a bar-top game machine (which I personally love!). The food prices are very reasonable--along with my food, I had a beer at the bar and got a 6-pack to go, and my bill was only $23 and change. I asked the bartender if they had salt and pepper packets, and while they don't, he very nicely made up two sauce cups, one with some salt, some with some pepper--VERY nice of him! Got my food (AND my fuzz face!) back to the hotel and opened everything. I'd asked for the fries separate from the salad, and they were REALLY good! The onion petals disappointed me a bit--not enough onion in them for me. The salad was great! The seasoning on the chicken was wonderful, all the veggies were fresh and crisp, and they gave me plenty enough ranch dressing for it. Really, a good, comfortable neighborhood bar with good food and plenty of it. If I'm in town again, I'll definitely come back to The Burrow! read more

I was part of a group of 14 that went to The Burrow after a golf outing. The experience was outstanding. We made reservations ahead and arrived 30 minutes late. Our tables were still waiting for us. The large variety of drinks available satisfied every taste. The food was excellent with good sized portions and it was quite tasty. The staff was courteous, friendly and competent. I will not hesitate to return and highly recommend this establishment. read more
