Was only 1 of 2 restaurants Yelp listed as open on a Sunday evening. Have eaten before at Applebee's at home and on the road, so I am familiar with its menu and opted to choose it over the other lowly rated place in town. Would normally rate Applebee's 3-4 stars. (Like their riblets.) But this location was really poor. Service was horribly slow. It took 30 min to get our "appetizer" of chips and salsa. Waitress blamed it on the kitchen staff. But restaurant was 1/2 empty and how long does it take to pour out some chips from a bag and scoop out some salsa from a jar? Then our special summer cooler drink tasted like plain lemonade. Could not detect any alcohol at all but took our waitress' word that it had been added. Onion soup was served warm with hunk of cheese. Gellatinous and not very appetizing. Our entrees, which took about 50 min to arrive, were also just warm and not hot. They were, however, filling. Best item was the chocolate sunday shot for desert. This place needs some seroius supervision to bring it up to the national franchise standards. read more

Ehh... went here last Thursday early evening and wasn't impressed. I ordered the Paradise Chicken Salad and it came with only lettuce, apple slices and chicken. No mandarin oranges, pineapple or pico. I was missing all of the paradise. I didn't complain at the moment as we were preparing to go to my husband's grandmother's viewing and I didn't want my complaint about a salad to be the one thing everyone remembered on this important day. Very nice waitress. She interacted with grandsons. The kids meal hamburger was awfully bland, meat, hard bread, atom size portion of cheese. Must be on a very tight budget. Had to order kids chicken tenders so grandson would eat. Not his fault but restaurant. The chicken tenders are skinny so they fry hard. Better to fry 2 thick delicious tenders than 4 hard skinny tenders. The boneless wings and spinach dip are very very good. Must be cheese shortage there because the quesedillas sucked. Ordered an appetizer that never came. They also got my order wrong. Ordered salmon with zucchini and potatoes. Came with peas (no idea why) and 1 baby potato cut in half. All of which was soaked in water. Salmon was fine. They eventually brought me some zucchini, which were honestly the size of 6 croutons. My husband's ribs were really good. Waitress was nice. I went again 4 days later. I ordered the All-Brunch burger with sweet potato fries. Husband got the chicken finger basket. Got my order wrong again. Came with regular fries and the burger was suppose to have a fried egg on top. Sent it back. When I got it back the egg wasn't runny like I had really hoped. The burger itself was nothing special and frankly reminded me of the McDonald's dollar menu burger. I was sorely disappointed to have spent the $12 for it. Sweet potato fries were good. Husband's food was fine, but the fries portion was tiny. We've eaten at Applebee's before and never had such poor food. Again waitress was nice, but we aren't returning if we can help if. El Dorado, Ar in general doesn't have many good places to eat. My husband is working here for a few weeks, so eating out is necessary. We did eat at Smokehouse J J's BBQ place. We usually go every Saturday for lunch. It is always consistent! This is the best Applebee's that I have ever been to.

Our first visit was ok. Our second visit, we sat for over an hour and a half before we walked out. We had to ask multiple times for drinks, we had to ask several times after the appetizer. Finally Got that after almost an hour. Asked twice for silverware never got any. Finally they brought food to the table, half the order was missing and my husbands order ended up as the saddest piece of chicken I've ever seen with some dried onions on top and a baked potatoes that was sliced in half with butter. It was supposed to be loaded, his other side never came. Asked again for some silverware (hard to eat chicken and steak without it). 10 minutes later, no silverware. Asked 3 different employees for silverware never got any. We tried to be patient because it seemed like our waitress was new, but that excuse can only go so far. They said they were a little short but not one single employee seemed to be in any hurry to keep up. Can't tell you what it tasted like but I can tell you we Won't be back. read more

Ordered a shrimp salad. All the lettuce was limp and had brown edges; also salad was missing the avocado. Waitress was very nice and offered to have it remade. As much as I personally enjoyed my food, and as nice as the waitress was, my dad and I both ordered sirloin steaks well done, and his came out all kinds of pink. That's jut a big no no when you got one steak right. It was also my dad's birthday. Not to mention the wait was forever. I'll be back, but I doubt the rest of my family will. read more

We arrived at 1230 and at 230 the last plate ordered was finally served. 13 people in our party. People who came in after us received their food before we did. After being there 45 min the waiter came through amd said he was looking for plates that they were out of plates. Not sure what the problem was it was now 115 on a Friday and there wasn't that many customers in there. Our food was served at a rate 1 plate every five to ten minutes, some were through eating while there 5 of us that hadn't even been served. The rest of us was through eating by the time the last plate was served. After about 2 bites of the burger this person found a red hair in his food. There was several plates that didn't get all the food that was listed on the menu. After complain several times to the waiter during the wait time. I asked to speak to the manager who didn't seem to care one way or another all he could say was he would compensate us. Once the plates finally started to trickle in, no one came and ask about drinks so those served last were left with nothing to drink. The hair was the last straw. The waiter came and brought our ticket without even asking about the poor last man fed and had the hairy meal( not that he wanted something else to eat but he sat there 2 hours waiting for his meal least you could do is offer) Waiter told us the hairy meal was free and half off other meals. I told him to get the manager back out. The manager never showed up the waiter finally just told us to go. At least the bad experience only cost us time and aggravation. I will never go back here. First let me say 1 is the lowest rating you can give I want to give them a ZERO... stopped in a few weeks back and the service was poor... the food was fair but, last Thursday we dropped in for dinner. There we more employees than customers... sat at the bar there were 3 others 2 having a beer and one waiting... sat down on the far side no one on that side... looked down and it was nasty as it had not been cleaned... waited 10 minutes and no one ever came behind the bar... we looked around and 3 employees at the door, 4 standing around watching TV, 2-3 came over to the computers at the end of the bar but never said we will be with you, got the bartender or anything.... with the very limited choices in eldo you would think they would step up their game in stead they have their heads up their azz delivering tHe same suck azz service they are known for.. neither the managers or employees give a @#$& about the customers.. this place need to close its just taking up space.. it is a very sorry azz excuse for a restaurant we will not back.. when we got up and left I told the people at the door and got blank stares.. nuff said read more

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. This place is not only poorly managed, but the waitstaff is obviously not trained in customer service. We waited for 30 minutes for the first entree to arrive, 15 minutes later the second and 10 minutes later the last person in our group of three received her food. We had to request napkins and silverware twice and our bill, which was incorrect. We were double charged for one of our meals. It was obvious our waitress had either very little training or very little interest in her job. Several other members of the waitstaff behaved in the same manner. The food was amazing and my waiter was so nice. There was a time when I swore i would never be back. The wait was long. The service was horrible and the food was mediocre at best. i was pleased to seem how much this had changed in just the past 4 months. The service is better and the management seems better. The first time I ate at Applebee's was several years ago, and the food was good, but I never went back until the last 2 weekends, because I don't like eating in restaurants where alcoholic beverages are served. The only reason I went back to Applebee's is because I was given a $25 gift card for my birthday, so I felt obligated to eat there. The steak was good the first time, but the waitress informed that I could not have a baked potato with it, because they serve those after 1:00 p.m. There were men sitting at the bar drinking beer, and a young couple sitting in the booth in front of me had wine with their meal. I don't the environment because of this alcoholic drinking. The law removed the smoking from the restaurants. I wish they would remove the alcoholic beverages also. As I said earlier, the food was good, and I went back the second time to finish using the $25 from the gift card, but PLEASE get rid of the alcoholic beverages. I hate what it does to a person's brain and body. There is NOTHING family oriented about drinking alcoholic beverages, ESPECIALLY in front of your kids. Unfortunately this place is under new management and it has been terrible under the new regime. We used to go all the time and loved it and got great service. Went recently and half of the orders were wrong, we sat for 10 minutes after the food came out with no silverware, I was charged for a dessert that we never got, and the food was prepared poorly. Normally I have decent service there but tonight me and a few friends went there for supper and the service was terrible the food was awful it was all around terrible I would never recommend anyone to eat there ever!! And the prices are way to high for the food quality.
