"Neighbor, how long has it been since you've had a big thick steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili?" If it's been too long for you, never fear...this place will serve it up for you, in all its greasy gloriousness. We were in town for a concert, looking for a place to eat dinner before the show. We first tried Maggie & Lucy's, and although they have great reviews on Yelp, they were also very busy and had one waitress. It was also very hot inside, so we moved on to Johnny B's. Mistake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside is messy and appears neglected. The windows are so dark, at first we doubted if they were even open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside smells like their grease hood is not working.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was not very hungry, so I asked the waitress about the chili. She said that the chili hamburger is one of their most popular dishes. I didn't want the burger, just a bowl of chili. Mike ordered a simple burger and fries. His order came out fairly quickly, but it was taking longer for my bowl of chili. As I sat there waiting, I saw the cook place a disposable bowl on the pass. The waitress disappeared around the corner, and appeared about two minutes later with the chili in a proper bowl. She obviously microwaved the chili. Mike's burger was edible, but the fries were rubbish. They were greasy and tasteless, even after a crap ton of salt. Not crispy at all. The chili may not BE Wolf Brand, but they have mixed WB in with it because it tastes exactly like WB. The waitress was pleasant-ish and seemed friendly, but despite the fact that she could see I took two bites of chili and there were a pile of fries on Mike's plate, she NEVER asked how our meal was. Fair warning: The check-out process in this place is unlike anything I've seen anywhere. When you are finished eating, you go to the counter, where the waitress is. She tells you what you owe, and then asks "Would you like to add a tip?", if you respond "Yes", she asks "How much?" Seriously? I guess it's a great way to shame people into giving you a larger tip than they ordinarily would have, but come on. This is 2025. Purchase an iPad or decent POS. Just to be clear, my daughter is a waitress/restaurant manager and I know how hard she works for her money. I standardly tip 20% unless the service was really awful, and then I tip 15%. We were the only table in the place. After seeing we did not like the food, would a simple "Was everything okay?" be out of order? Be better, Johnny B's. Be better. read more

We had an excellent brunch: silver dollar pancakes and cheeseburger/fries for the kiddos. The silver dollar pancakes are twice as big as expected. Adults ordered the Johnny b's club and the hamburger steak. Appetizer - crawfish bites. We have no food complaints. It was all delicious, great value, nice portion sizes, and had that down home cooked feel that we search for. They even have a fried bologna sammich.... Nuff said right? Service was excellent, greeted with smiles, attentive, quick, kind staff. Ample seating, large parking lot. Inside is clean, with the exception of a few flies just from the door opening and closing. We had one visit our table but easily shoo'd it away. It wasn't problematic thereafter. We'd definitely come again when in town. Need to try those frog legs. read more

The burgers are good, but not great. The woman who seated us was standoffish, but the woman who brought our food and ran the register was very nice. I hope she got the $10.00 tip I left, because the woman who sat us and took our order mostly stood around talking to other employees. On the subject of tips, this is the only place I've ever eaten at that makes you pay up front, and has the employees ask if you would like to leave a tip. It's just an awkward thing for both customer and employee and they've asked all three times I've been. I'll give them one more try when I go to El Dorado this weekend, but will cross them off my list of affordable restaurants to eat at in Arkansas. The prices are very good. read more

This is a interesting diner option that serves American classics with some southern comfort dishes thrown in for good measure. It has a great atmosphere and good food. When you arrive they allow you to seat yourself so don't bother looking for a hostess just take a seat wherever there is room. I had the Johnny B burger which was so large I had trouble fitting the thing in my mouth. It was a large thick patty served with grilled onions on a bun with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was served well done and tasted great. The fries were another story. They were natural cut but limp and greasy. I may go for their onion rings next time. But yeah the fries were not good. The soda here is served by the can which I think means no free refills but I didn't ask. You would probably be better off getting coffee, water, or tea. Total price for a soda, burger, and fries was about $9 minus tip. However the food was better than fast food and the diner atmosphere was great. Overall I was happy with the staff and the food. Next time I will skip the fries and maybe try some of that breakfast that's available all day. You can't beat a old diner and we need to support classics like Johnny Bs. read more

I called in an order for a senior breakfast, and it came with a coffee, which is included, when I received my order it was missing. I went to Johnny Bs and they told me it's for eat in that you get the coffee and I would have to Pay for the cup. nowhere in the menu does it say its an extra charge for the cup if its a take out order. and they were kind of rude about. not one of my places to eat anyway and I will not be going back. read more

Visiting town on a business trip with colleagues. The hotel breakfast was cut back to the basics due to Covid. We were recommended to visit Johnny B's if we wanted a full breakfast. This is a classical small town diner. Nothing fancy, but plenty of charm. We seated ourselves and were given menus. Not many choices, but all of the essentials were there. Drinks were served promptly. Service from the kitchen was a bit slow. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, but it took about 20 minutes to cook up a few eggs, a waffle, and an omelet. But the food arrived hot and was very good. The sausage patties were especially good - normally dried out, these were tender and really good. I ordered my eggs over easy, and they came out a little crispy. It was apparent that they were cooked on a hot griddle - too hot for over easy. They were good, regardless. We went back again for our second morning and had a similar experience. The waitstaff were very friendly and took good care of us. We had hoped to return for dinner one night, but went elsewhere to spend MUCH more money. Next time in town, we'll be sure to try Johnny's for dinner. read more

El Dorado on a Sunday night is a tough place to find somewhere to eat that isn't a national chain of fast food. Fortunately, there is Johnny B's Grill. I was here this past Sunday night for the first time, and it extols the virtues of a classic diner... breakfast food available all the time, Formica tables, and the checkerboard pattern of tile. I ordered the surf and turf, and was pleasantly surprised with the results. There was rapport with the kitchen, and when my order was put in the window with the classic ding of a bell, the call went out "Surf's Up!" The surf and turf in this case takes the form of half a dozen deep-fried shrimp, an 8 ounce steak, and a baked potato. The shrimp were alright, but I come from an area much closer to the sea, so my standards are high. The baked potato was smothered in butter, and that just worked in this case. And then there was the steak... I don't know how long they had that thing marinating, but it was simply excellent. Cooked perfectly. If I ever come through El Dorado again on my travels, I will be happy to stop in at Johnny B's. read more

We have been going to this homey cafe for years every time we visit family. However, in the past few months the cleanliness has become a serious issue. From floors to tables to walls, you name it, the place has finally gotten so filthy that we (and our ElDorado family members) pledge to never go again until the place closes for a week for deep cleaning and paint inside. Gross. If it's that bad in the serving area, how bad is the kitchen? Not better, I guarantee. BTW, our family members used to go at least once a week for breakfast. No more. I came here for lunch, not breakfast. The place was full, but there were still a couple of tables open. They appeared to have only one waiter for the whole joint. Consequently...the service was *awful*. We were a party of four; three of the guys went in while I parked the car. He told the guy there were four of us. Yet, he only felt the need to bring drinks, silverware, and menus for three. Eventually he acknowledged me when taking the food order - after I had walked to the front counter and gotten myself a menu. When the food came out, he did bring more silverware. Look, the service was awful all around. We couldn't get menu, we couldn't get refills...but still. The food was really, really good. It took longer to come out than it should have, given the size and how many people were there, but the food was all done exactly to order and was absolutely delicious.
