After bad experience in a Kalispell Applebee's I was reluctant when my Helena friends suggested we eat here. My reluctance was well warranted. We arrived at 2:15 PM and there were only a few tables occupied. Our server was on break but another person did take our drink orders. After several minutes our orders were taken but it took quite awhile for our simple orders to arrive. Two soup and salad combos, one ala carte soup and a large salad. The soups were only Luke warm and did not include a cracker. My Asian Chicken salad had no dressing and it took several minutes to get our servers attention and several more to receive the dressing. She said they had a new cook. I will not patronize any Applebee's in the future, two bad experiences in the past year at two separate stores. read more

Have had bad experience with horrible waitresses here in the past and stopped going for about a year. Tonight our male server was amazing. After an 11 hour shift I was tired, thirsty and hungry. His welcoming, funny and attentive attitude made my day so much better and my food was exactly the way I wanted it for the first time. My confidence is restored and I will be back! read more

Awful place. Fiance and I were kicked out because we were accused of insulting a waitress (which apparently happened a year ago). When this happened we were trying to help a different waitress fix a set of broken blinds. We were screamed at, and threatened with violence and the authorities. I usually don't review chain restaurants because mostly you know the score. Lately though, this chain has added some new dishes with a fusion influence that are quite good. Two I like are the Shrimp Thai Salad and the Chicken Wonton Tacos appetizer. Both have a delicious and distinct blend of flavors with sweet, spice and bright notes. They are perfect for summer, loaded with fresh veggies and with good crunch from nuts and the crispy wontons. Light, fresh, delish! Our server was super nice and efficient. read more

Went there this evening as it's a quick, basic option that my family really likes and the food and service is always consistent. We ordered and everyone got something a little different from what they normally get but usually it is just fine. For starters I was served a side salad with a raw French fry in the dressing and several ice cubes in the salad. Expressed concern to waitress she brought me a new dressing to put on my plate of lettuce and water. My father ordered a chicken and shrimp skillet with mushrooms and roasted potatoes on it. The chicken was over cooked and unedible, dry and had a burnt flavor. I expressed concern to waitress and she apologized but offered no solution. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was supposed to have bacon (no bacon), no cheese (had melted cheddar) and a creamy BBQ sauce (no sauce) plus the French fries were barely cooked. I understand it's a busy Friday night but this is a restaurant that is consistently busy. It's disappointing because we are frequent patrons and the subpar food that was served and not one employee really cared. It's Applebee's, the reason you eat there is for a quick consistent option here in Helena. Will definitely think twice before stopping again. read more

Waste of time. We called because we had family, they do not take reservations but if you walk in, they have a wait list. At first they said they could split us up and then told us they only had two (2) big tables. I said we could be split and then they refused. Obviously they didn't want our business. This is my 2nd review of a Applebee's. This one in Helena, Mt. Decided to stay away from the steak after my last experience. Ordered the full rack of ribs no sause with vegetables. Staff was pleasent and quick....1st impression...ribs were tough to cut...then it got worse. Looked at the side and thought...wow that's a really red smoke ring....wrong....raw meat...raw pork to be specific! I would have never seen it if they would have been covered in sause. Needless to say the whole "New" marketing campaign is a disaster....same poorly trained kitchen people and cheapest cuts of meat available. 2 different stores 2000 miles apart...same disaster of a meal.... read more

I prefer to ask to be seated in Tiffany or Ryan's section. They both are excellent servers and know their stuff. If they aren't there, it's hit or miss as to whether you get an experienced server or a newbie. I understand the new ones have to start sometime, but it would be nice if they knew a little more before being let out on their own to serve tables. Typically though, I end up in the section I prefer and things go absolutely well. It's like most Applebee's, same menu, etc, which is probably why it's out standby. Sometimes it can get quite loud. We try to go during the off-times so we don't end up being drowned out over the talking of other customers and the music playing. This is the preferred place to meet with family when we are in town. I do wish they'd quit with the annoying birthday songs. Seriously, you gotta wonder how many people lie about that just to get a free dessert. Besides, the servers could do their actual job much better if they weren't taking time outs to sing all the time. I might have given 4 stars if not for that. read more

Terrible, terrible experience at the Helena Applebee's 8/15/17. We ordered our food. When it came they brought the wrong food for me. The waitress had written down the wrong item. I had to wait an additional 30+ minutes for my food to finally arrive, just about the time my son had finished his meal and was starting dessert. I was assured my meal would be discounted. The bill arrived and the bill was wrong. And the discount for my 30 minutes wait: $2.49! But wait, there is more. Figured into this $2.49 discount was the 50 cent difference between what I ordered and what was on the bill, so really they figured my time and inconvenience was worth $1.99. To add insult to injury, no silverware and no napkins. We had to ask twice for the condiments we asked for. Requested a go-box and never received that. By the time I got the bill I was so pissed and sick of the place, I just paid up and left. Maybe I should have raised a stink but I was afraid my anger would get the best of me. So, in conclusion, if you like poor service, not getting what you ordered, not getting the dressing that comes with the meal and getting ripped off on the bill, go to the Helena Applebee's. I am sure you will be as satisfied as I was. read more

Been here many times, tonight l ordered the Rigatoni. Three bites an left the rest. I left a meal once before, 35 years back served in ST Ignatius. I'm really not that picky but this was blah x two. The chief should try it. Let me attempt to duplicate: stuff cooked noodle with rigotti cheese, pour salsa(mild) on top, refrigerate for two weeks. Scoop it, plate it. nuke till warm. Frankly I feel sick one hour later. Recommend removal from otherwise good menu. read more

Called them to make an order to go, was on hold for 10 minutes so I called back, ordered French fries and asked for a lot (pregnant cravings) when I got it, there was barely any in there, and they were cold and tasted stale. Not too happy. read more

The new pub menu; I had the chicken and quinoa for dinner. It was soooooo dry I couldn't finish it so, yeah, it's low calorie! Just because a dish is low calorie it doesn't mean it has to be overcooked and dry. Don't bother with this dish, it's terrible. read more

The service wasn't great the burgers are pink even when requested well done. The walls use to be full of interesting things but now it's kinda plane. The birthday singing is obnoxious. Applebee's is pretty much like a nicer Denny's with dinner food instead of breakfast food. They have a lot to choose from but none of it is super good. The restaurant is always unbelievably packed and so the staff doesn't tend to individual tables enough. I always feel sick after I eat there too. read more

Went to Applebee's tonight in Helena for the last time. I've had previous bad experiences with over 1 hour tickets, or showing up for take out food and it not being ready on time, or even after 30 minutes late (they took my payment that night but wouldn't refund my money after making me wait an extra 30 minutes in store, never getting my food out before I left.). Tonight though everything coming out of the kitchen was wrong and in my opinion abusive to the wait staff. Four of the five things ordered were completely wrong. How you can undercook chicken strips is beyond me. Especially when it took 47 minutes to get to the table. A well done burger so under cooked that the bun was soaked with blood, 3 cheese chicken penne that was actually 1 cheese alfredo with no chicken. That along with the chicken strips were great to find out about when we got home. The biggest problem though is that it took 47 minutes to bring the wrong salad, 2 undercooked dishes, and 1 completely wrong order.... Hey they got the kids corn dog and motza sticks right though. I guess It's not all bad! Never again for me. If I'm required to go I'll simply just wait until the affair is over and get mcdonalds across the street. I don't expect much from them, and they reward me with being able to perform basic tasks unlike applebee's. read more

This was the first Applebee's that I have ever been to. The food was extremely average. I was not impressed. I ordered the chicken tender platter. The chicken was so overdone and dry. There was no seasoning on it. The fries were not fresh. The only part I really enjoyed was the crispy green beans that I ordered for an appy. The sauces were delicious! I rarely eat here because I've just had bad food and bad service so many times. I certainly don't expect the quality to be there in a big chain restaurant like this, but over/under cooking food certainly doesn't help. One time many years ago I chipped a tooth on a rock in my salad and the manager wouldn't even comp my meal! Stopped in for drinks a while back since alcohol is pretty hard to screw up, and ended up eating dinner there and watching TV. I was expecting a leather steak, possibly a pebble in my salad, and cold, watery, limp, broccoli. Holy shnikes was I blown away!!! During peak business hours on a Friday night, I got a *perfectly* cooked medium rare steak, I mean, the cook rested the steak and everything before serving it! Real 5 star stuff I would NEVER expect from an Applebees. The salad must have been actually washed before plating too; no rocks or pebbles, teeth intact still! And the broccoli was steamed to perfection. It doesn't quite make up for all my dental bills, but it's a good start Applebees, it's a good start. read more

This was our 4th time and was suppose to be our last time to give this establishment our business. The firt time we sat in the bar and the busy bartender did his best even though he failed desperstely to serve us. I think it was just to big of a croud for him to handle along with the bar. The second time our waitress took 3 takes at one time. We got our salads as someone was bringing our meal. The next time our waitress was either hanging out the back door smoking or dating a cook. She went into the kitchen and we never ssw her again until time to drop off the check. That time we told the hostest of our unfortuneate visits , in hopes she would give us the extra try. She just sent the manager over to make unsubstantiated promises of good service. We saw a commercial and decided today to give it one last try. The diningroom and bar were semi filled and an enthusiatic young man i believ named Travis B [a handsome young blonde fella] eagerly took our beverage order and returned with drinks to take our order. The appetizer was brought out in a timely manner by a young lady and our waiter immediately returned to ask if anything was needed. We finished our cheese sticks in a timely manner when our waiter took away the plates and returned from the kitchen with our meal. They had not been stitting in the window where we had to get the hot plate warning and he refilled our beverages. He then returned with out check thanked us and offered to be our cadhier if we chose not to use the little machine on the table. We were so shocked with the meal and servive we asked to speak yo the supervisor to sing our waiters praises. The food and service were so good I think we may try it again thanks to this attentive young waiter who had renewed our faith in having a good meal in your establishment at another day and time. My family and I went to Applebee's on the corner of Custer and North Montana. After we ate my wife went to the car to feed our 1 month old. I pulled my card out to pay for the meal and waited for 30 min for the waitress to take it. She walked by the table three times on the fourth pass, after she talked with customers waiting to be seated for 15 min, she finally took the card. I know what your thinking, you can pay at the table for your food. Well the reason I didn't is because that tablet screwed up our order so I didn't trust it. Needless to say I wasn't happy with the way Tiffany G. handled our meal or the ticket. I'll go back but I will request to not sit in her area. read more
