Applebees seems to get a bad wrap but it has really upped its game. I think it all depends on management and the cooks. It used to be subpar but now it's back to its greatness. They have great food and a wide variety of options for any diner. From their sizzling Bourbon Street Steak to their Oriental Chicken Salad to their amazing Fiesta Lime Chicken, their food is both varied and well prepared. My son loves their Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli. He says it's better than Olive Gardens My daughter loves their desserts especially the Chocolate Lava Cake. I typically order the Chicken Fajita Roll up. It's filled with delicious grilled chicken, pico, lettuce and cheese and is served with my favorite sauce-Mexiranch. Soo yummy! Their Oriental Chicken salad is so yummy and you can't get anything like it anywhere else. The oriebtal dressing is so good! Yesterday I tried something new the new Bacon Cheddar Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I typically don't order breaded chicken because I hate when it's super breaded or the chicken is rubbery. This sandwich was amazing! First of all it is hand breaded so the breading is not caked on there. It is crispy and light and perfectly breaded. I wasn't sure if I would like the bacon sauce so I asked for it on the side. It was actually really good and I ended up adding it to my sandwich even though it was flavorful enough without. My husband's burgers and fries were great for him, however I ordered a chicken quesadilla meal and it was horrible! I ate 2 slices and my husband knew I was not happy there were maybe a few chunks of chicken no cheese to mention. My husband told the waitress & a manager brought me the correct dinner quesadillas! The first one must have been a child's dinner the waitress said. It was just ok nothing special. To be honest they are way overpriced and I won't be ever going back there, it's sad that they thought the first order was ok . The manager was great but it won't change my mind. Texas Roadhouse is the place to be in my opinion for price, great food and a fun restaurant! Applebee's get with it! Came here with a friend to get the 2 for $25 deal (essentially you get two full meals and a split appetizer for $25). The bill still ended around $40 because we got sodas and tipped which I wasn't expecting. The food tasted pretty good, not spectacular or anything, but not bad. My friend enjoyed her strawberry lemonade as well. The thing that threw us off was the service. The hostess was very friendly and welcomed us as soon as we came in, but our server seemed a little nervous. After we had ordered, he told us, "good job ordering," which we thought was a little strange. He also didn't ask if we wanted the bill together or separate, and he placed it directly in front of my friend. He just seemed a little off the whole time. Perhaps he was just having a bad day, but it was a little unsettling. It was pretty quiet for lunchtime on a Saturday, so that was nice. We don't go to Applebee's very often because they tend to be slow with their service, even when there's very few customers. We decided to go today. Their internet went down just as they were putting in our order. They kept us informed, which was good, but we didn't know how long the internet would be down, so we waited awhile for the appetizer. When the food came out, my husband's order was wrong and my food was cold. The waiter cautioned me that the plate was hot. I DID wait about 2 minutes and then pulled the plate toward me. The plate was warm, but the food wasn't. It was tepid. I ate a little and asked for a box. My husband's food came, but he also asked for a box. The food itself wasn't bad, but when you're paying a lot these days for food, I don't want it microwaved. I can go home and do that. Applebee's just isn't the cool restaurant it once was. All the tables at our local Applebee's are "sticky". The waiter says it's because the laminate has worn off. A lady was complaining about that. Our waiter took care of us, but really didn't want to hear the complaints. He would just ask, "What can I get for you today?" and "Are you good?" The first of these three strikes happened when there were very few customers and most of the employees were standing outside smoking and joking. After waiting for ten minutes one of the employees came to us from being outside and told us there was a 20 minute wait because they were short staffed. STRIKE ONE. Second time we waited for fifteen minutes just for someone to come seat us. STRIKE TWO. Now this time we finally get seated and wait almost ten minutes until we just got up and left, just to get our drink order. STRIKE THREE. My husband and I sat at the bar. My husband had a burger that he said was ok. I had a riblets platter smothered in bbq sauce, and I mean smothered. I found out in the middle of the night why-terrible indigestion. I think the riblets were bad and they tried to disguise it by covering them in sauce. Now the service by the bartender was subpar to say the least. She spent most of her time at the end of the bar bragging to other employees (who seemed to have nothing to do) about how many servers she has trained. When I paid our bill, which crazily came to $43, and added a 20% tip there was no thank you, have a good night, or don't let the door hit you in the butt. Food is great. Servers are very friendly and get to you quickly. Always making sure you have a refill on your drinks. Occasionally we like to sit at the bar and it's a fun time. The food was alright, edible, but the wait for it was uncalled for. One hour wait after ordering is ridiculous. The host welcomed and seated us. Within a very few minutes the server came to take our drink order. When she returned with our drinks we ordered. Then we waited......and waited. At least four times over the next 60 minutes she stopped to say our food would be out soon. When food finally arrived one of the orders was wrong. We were tired, and hungry verging on hangry. We did not return the wrong order because no way were we going to wait another hour! The meal that came was ok. All three meals were tasty enough, but no way will we ever go there again. I think that the management team at this Applebees should read the reviews made by their patrons as there seems to be a theme. I had dinner tonight at this location with family and the food was fine, exactly what I expected from this chain. I had the 8 oz sirloin and my food and everyone else's was perfectly fine. However the wait staff are a disaster. When we first arrived around 4pm (and it's a Friday) the hostess was inappropriate in her complaining that they were too busy for this time of day. She complained to the other wait staff and to the customers coming in the door. Then when we were seated, everyone working at the restaurant were complaining about the impending shift change and let everyone know it by slow service and all around bad attitudes. People go to Applebees for the usually friendly service, good bar and food for reasonable prices. But with a wait staff like this, we certainly won't be returning and I could tell that many other patrons felt the same. Shame! read more

A storm had knocked our power out at home so the hubby and I decided we'd go out and have a couple drinks and nibbles. The first thing we noticed was it felt kind of dirty and dark. We waited at the reception stand for about 90 seconds before we were greeted by a Hostess who did not smile and were shown to our booth . Then the same hostess came back placed menus on the table, introduced herself as our waitress .. still no smile... And wanted to know what we wanted to drink . The beer selection is average so Dean chose a blue moon I chose the tito-rita carafe . The drinks arrived at the table fairly quickly and she took our order .. still not smiling .. we waited almost a half our for the appetizers. Dean was given his wontons and the combo platter was plopped down in front of me . I was not given a plate so I assume I was expected to eat directly from the combo platter! Dean and I busted out laughing. I ended up taking a couple of napkins and using those as a plate. The server came back one other time.. still not smiling...to see if we wanted a box. She brought back the box and the bill. We are good tippers and we still gave her the usual 25%. I'm hoping that she was just having an off night. Looking around the restaurant there were seven tables with diners... so that's not busy. There was debris on the floor...food crumbs and paper bits from straw wrappers and napkins. There were cleaning supplies stacked up in the dining room. Our overall impression: lighting could be better, cleaning could be better, cleaning supplies should be in back not the dining room, employees should at least fake a smile and at least pretend they enjoy their job. The appetizers we're good.. it's just typical finger food, the beer section is lacking. So that's why three stars. It's just not our cup of tea anymore. read more

A mixed bag, and I wish I had read the reviews first. We came in off the highway, at 5 on a Saturday, and picked a place more or less at random. Right from the start, service was friendly but slow and disorganized. I heard someone called off, but the sense of- confusion?- from the staff, and reading the other reviews, tells me this is an ongoing management issue. Our server was great, but busy, and there were issues with the on-table ordering device, etc. Side note: this device seems like it's in beta testing, and it's cool in theory but needs work. Also, you can just order apps, and probably dessert, but they really ought to add drink orders. Anyway, our food was fine, but again, up and down. The Caesar salads were very good: fresh lettuce, lots of grated cheese, good croutons. The cheese stick app was good, but clearly frozen sticks and marinara. The soups were a mixed bag: my steak and black bean was better than I expected, chock full of beans and steak, a little spicy, and enjoyable. Sweetie's tomato basil was a bit off, and she only ate a few bites. They quickly comped that. My boneless Asian wings were fine, but drowning in sauce, and I didn't quite finish them (odd for wings, with me...) Maybe it was an off night, but with many reviews saying the same thing about service, I doubt it. The food is typical Applebee's: chainy but decent. We just wanted an air-conditioned, comfortable meal, and it was okay for that. Baby-friendly, which is always a plus. I'm torn between two and three stars, but I'd give it another go, and it's fine for what it is. Just needs better management. read more

We got there around 5:30 and it was around 6:28 when we left because people around us were getting there food before us, a whole party of 6 people. We stopped here to eat a late lunch after some Huber Heights shopping. Craving steak, I ordered a 8oz. sirloin medium rare. My side staple is typically a bake potato, but I soon realized that the menu states these are only available after 4pm... Okay, fine. When my steak came, I cut it open to find out it was very rare and bloody. I told my waitress and she sent it back to the kitchen. When it came out next, it was THE SAME steak. It was cooked more, sure, but they had thrown my cut up steak back on the grill so the outside was overdone and crunchy. The meal wasn't even re-plated- my sides were all bloody and mushy. When I spoke to the manager, she did take it off the bill, but chopped the mistake up to the waitress being new (my only good experience was the excellent service from my waitress). She said she should have asked if I wanted a new steak or for them to put the first one back on. My experience made sure that I will not be returning to an Applebee's if I can help it. read more

Waited 10 minutes to be seated. It was 1:45 on a Monday so it wasn't that busy. Upon looking around there were at least 5 dirty tables with piles of dirty dishes. So, I like Applebee's. They have decent food at a great price. It's my go to when I don't feel like spending a bunch of money. The Huber Heights location is the weirdest and worst location I've ever been to. Monday night is supposedly their $.55 bone in wing night. My friends and I were hangry and committed to getting those wings. We get there and find out they have none. Not a single one. Really put a wrench in my night. Then, when i changed my order on the spot under a bunch of pressure, I chose the 2/20 with a house salad. They have no French dressing. Well, what the h*ll do y'all have? I'm over it I don't even want this anymore. I'm currently sitting here with an attitude and a rumbling stomach. Update!: Of the 3 plates of food at my table, 3 of them were ruined. One plate had hair in it. Another had paper cooked into the burger. My steak had a shrimp tail on it. And to add fuel to the fire, the server and the manager thought we were about to pay for the last plate, which my friend was too uncomfortable to eat. Service was bad and slow my friends and I went to this location at 11:00 am we ordered drinks appetisers and lunch and then the dessert's which was 2 servings of SUGAR DUSTED DONUT DIPPERS one plate came only 8 donuts and caramel dip and other one can 10 donuts and caramel and chocolate dip when I mentioned it to the server she didn't even listen even though I asked her for chocolate dip and she just called the manager and then he came in a very angry voice. And he said that they are out of donuts for the day. At 11:00 am? What ever and I asked if they could at least bring the chocolate dip and NO THEY DIDN'T NO ONE CAME OR BROUGHT ANYTHING. Applebee's has been one of my favorite restaurants. We lived in Hawaii for many years and I could never eat here because they didn't have one. This location had a remodel last year and made it more local in decor. One of the walls has a giant picture of the Air Force Marathon finisher medal. Today, we waiting a while to have a server come to the table initially but after that we had no problems. The appetizer deal is a money savor. I ordered salmon and it was wonderful. Food is great but every time we order to go there's a problem. Todays issue- the order was supposed to be ready at 8pm. We pulled up to the Carside to go spot at 7:59. After a few minutes decided to just go in, in case they were busy. Our food was waiting but no one was around the pickup station. Asked a passing waiter if we could just take our order and he didn't know. Called the number in the email and watched the phone in front of us ring - beside our food that was getting cold. Finally at 8:20, we took our cold, nasty food and left. This was over a hundred dollars spent on my in-laws anniversary dinner. There were no less than four staff members that saw us and rushed by before we could ask for help. Absolutely despicable customer service. Next time we'll just do McDonalds.
