This spot is hit or miss, seems to be more of a miss when I've come in with a big party. The place isn't even busy and they can't figure out how to sit six people down. I can't understand if the place was packed but it was empty. Anyways we got this really great server, who we've had before. He was able to split all the checks and got orders correct. I was at Applebees on 10th St W in Lancaster last week. I called in an order to pick up and they told me it would be ready in 17 minutes. Why oh why when I got there in 20 minutes did I have to wait ANOTHER 20-25 minutes! So it took nearly an hour for a take out order. This rating is based on two things. First of all the food was great. However, the service was awful. We got there and it was empty but had to wait because I believe the servers could have been on break, that is okay by me because people need their breaks. What I didn't like is that our server disappeared. After waiting awhile I went to see if the lady at the front could help me but she wasn't there either. I had to get up and go to the bar to get service because our server Alexis never returned after taking our order. I know it's not the bartenders job to help me but she did and I appreciate that. Was there yesterday around 6 p.m. My son turned 16 and chose this place for his birthday. All of which we did not even mention because our experience here was terrible. We requested a booth and the wait was about 30 minutes. We were seated and I did notice that they were many other booths available but I just figured it was all due to covid and social distancing. We ordered appetizers and food which took a very long time and in fact the appetizers came out with the food. It was cold. My husband had no complaints because he is a glutton when it comes to food but my burger came with fries and the fries were cold and not even the ketchup could make them better or come alive. The impossible burger or veggie replacement that I chose taste like crap. On top of all that some of silverware that was in those little paper bags were dirty. I wish I could give them no stars. I discourage anyone from going this whole experience too over 2 hours. Arrived at 7:40 pm didn't receive our food till after 8:30pm. Ordered drinks when we sat down and didn't receive those till 20 minutes later. We had ordered our food and drinks at the same time time. We asked our waiter 2 times how much longer for our 2 burgers and appetizer salads. He told us both times that he was going to check on our food. But returned to our table to bring the other people we were with drinks they waited 15 minutes for he did not tell us what was going on with our food or how much longer or anything. Another person at our table went to find the manager after 45 minutes of still not receiving our food by then our salads were coming out. When we brought it up to the manager she was nonchalant but did go and check on our food. She returned a few minutes later to tell us that "the way it was entered" into the computer was why it was taking so long but she checked on our order and it should be out in 3 minutes they were waiting for the burgers to not be pink. When our food finally came out the fries were cold and the burger wasn't even put together nicely it looked like they just tossed it on the plate. I finally decided to just take my burger home so I could warm it up and eat it at a decent temperature. We had to ask for the bill and waited at least another 15 minutes. It was not busy other tables that ordered after us received all of their food and drinks before us. After all of this the manager gave us a 10 dollar discount. Even after the waiter said the manager took care of our meal we only got a 10 dollar discount that is pathetic especially since our will was well over 100 dollars. As someone with experience working as a manager in a restaurant this is unacceptable. I understand they may have been hurt during the pandemic but the service here is unacceptable and we will not be returning. We have come to the Lancaster location at least a handful of times and have never had an experience as terrible as this. We ordered 3 of the unlimited wings, 1 bbq rib tip's unlimited , 1 shrimp unlimited , a burger combo and 2 kids meals. The rib tips were burnt and only had sauce on one side literally smeared on. The wings were dry with no flavor. The fries were old not fresh and when we ordered seconds just to see if the food would be better they literally gave us 5 shrimps and about a small handful of fries. The service was ok. Fries were decent. In no way was the sandwich prime rib. The meat was in chunks, dry to taste but squishy in texture There was a stack of cheese slices tossed on it. Not spread throughout the sandwich, whoever pieced this monstrosity together just tossed a stack of cheese in 2 spots. The au jus looked like dirty sink water with pieces of a different meat floating in it. I thought it still might taste better with it, & I was very wrong. So, very, wrong. My fiancée ordered a southwest chicken bowl. She's the type to finish a meal no matter how bad it is & not cause waves if at all possible. After a handful of bites she was absolutely finished. She wanted me to try it, & although most ppl will have a morbid curiosity of "just how bad is it" I would not try it knowing if it's at all like my sandwich. Our son had the corn dog & he was very happy with it. The side he wanted was strawberries & creme, & it came with one thinly sliced strawberry & a mountain of cream. One strawberry. One. We did order the appetizer combo thing, & that was actually pretty good compared to the other stuff. Mozzarella sticks were appropriately flavored & cheesy, mini chicken quesadilla was ok, Buffalo boneless wings were OK, & the chips were average. We ate off this plate more than anything. If not for the strong service & appetizer I would give one star. I did leave comments on the review thing. We love Applebee's in general. Usually they have a business model that can't be beat but this place is hammering them into the basement. We arrived at around 8:50pm. Most of the customers were in the bar. No bartender visible. No hostess visible. No servers visible. We looked around and said "Hello?" Still no service staff visible. After about two minutes the bartender comes out of the back. A server appears and quickly disappears. No greeting from the bartender. She's holding her head down. She is clearly catching up. A server appears on the opposite side and disappears. A server joins the bartender. Everyone keeping their head down. We've been standing without greeting or acknowledgement for maybe five to seven minutes. My daughter tried to hail a server. No luck. At close to the ten minute mark, the hostess comes to seat us. I pleasantly ask if they'd had a birthday to celebrate in the break room. She answered "Oh, no. I was in the bathroom." I let her know there had been no staff on the floor, as above written. She says something pleasant and seats us and hands us menus. I figure that's the end of it. Our server takes our order and then says," I hear you had a problem when you first came in. I want you to know "blank" was in 25, and said she'd be right over." We said we had neither seen nor heard her. She insisted the phantom server had been there. Ok. We order the appetizers and drinks. The apps were ok, not the usual great. I sent my dinner riblets back to be warmed, as they were cold, under a warm sauce. They came back charred. I ate 30% of my meal and did not request any take-away. It's now the morning after and my daughter, who had the Mac and cheese and chicken tenders had been vomiting all night.
