Where to begin? The AC is down, so it's quite warm in here, definitely too warm to enjoy dinner. Everything is... well worn and not very clean. Floors and tables are sticky. Every surface is grimy to the touch. Food and trash under every table despite it being middle of the afternoon and during a slow time. Several employees rushing around, never really standing still but yet a lot not getting done. Usually during slow times the tables are being wiped down, floors swept, and silverware rolled. As there was approximately one employee per table in the dining room, I can't say they were overworked. Our waiter was very rushed, although he only had the two tables. He was helping carry out food and drinks for the other waitresses, so he never slowed down moving. This also meant that he left before taking our complete order, never asked what dressings or sides we wanted with our dinners, and never answered our questions. I got the ribs and wanted the sweet BBQ but got the Asian sauce instead. I got a whole 6 fries for my side and a tiny sauce cup of coleslaw that ended up being soured. When I told our waiter, he just grabbed the cup and said "yeah sorry" as he walked away. The ribs were actually pretty meaty, just a bit dry which is to be expected at that time of day, just disappointing when added to the wrong sauce. The one good bit of the meal was the tea was excellent. Not overbrewed and with plenty of sugar to satisfy any southern grandma. For roughly $35 a person, very overpriced, overrated, and disappointing. read more

I ordered online (and added a $9 tip) and when I got there NO ONE acknowledged my presence so I sat at the bar thinking that would work because of how obsessed people are with alcohol. No! Still ignored! By the way, ALL people who consume alcohol are losers. Anyway I know how it feels do deal with rude customers which is why I'm not in customer service anymore. But I had to be rude to get someone's attention. Of course they "killed me with kindness." It doesn't work and never will. read more

I ordered fish and chips, it was not cooked, raw fish with doughy cold, crust. it is the most horrible food I have gotten. It is so bad my dogs will not eat it. The fries are cold and greasy, the dogs won't eat them either. We were there early (between 4 & 5pm.) so they weren't crowded and had plenty time to cook properly. I haven't been in this Applebee's for a very. long. time. Mostly because the service was lackadaisical and the food less than, well everything. Last Saturday, I came back -- table for seven all arriving helter-skelter. Our waiter was very attentive to each as they arrived -- getting our drink order, etc. Watching the table -- waiting for the rest of our party. Service was fine but the food was horrible. My steak came out practically raw. It looked like it had been on the grill for 30 seconds then served to me. When I told my server to correct it she took it to the back and it was given back to me hard as a rock (they also didn't replace my steak just served me the same one that I had cut into pieces) Idk who's in the back but they clearly don't know how to cook. First and foremost I usually don't even review chains that often, but the experience that I had while on a work trip was RIDICULOUS!! I came to Applebees after a long day of work and running around and wanted to have a beer. I asked for salt around the rim and the bartender didn't want to accommodate me and put salt around the damn beer glass. LAZY. Closing isn't until 11pm as well. I could have understood if I came in thirty minutes before and demanded everything when they are trying to wrap up and get home. All in all it's not a good look for a chain in a small town. People probably know you're lazy too.... Anyways, the server I had was amazing and sweet enough to let me know others don't do there job. Food is mediocre as always but I wanted a beer so came here. I already don't like chains so this just makes me never want to step foot in one again. Should I be a Karen and get a manager for this one? I personally haven't had a bad experience at this Applebee's. I usually order their wings and salads. It exceeds my expectations at times and I am glad that this place is still running and continues to receive patron from the community. We go fairly often and the food is sometimes good and sometimes not. Tonight we were there again and I was moved to leave a review. One of our group had a steak and was suprised that it was good. One other had the Orange Chicken bowl and thought it great. I had a burger,garlic mashed potatoes and French onion soup The potatoes had no garlic taste at all. The onion soup tasted good but had a slab of mozzarella cheese in it. Now it should Have been gruyere and that kinda makes the soup. Soup shouldn't be chewy. I had been sick so I ordered curbside service to avoid going inside. My food was to be ready by 2:15. At 2:45, still no food so I had to go inside and speak with a manager. My food along with another customer's food was sitting bagged up on the bar. No clue how long the food had been sitting there but by the time I got home, obviously my food was cold and not great. Firstly the bartender is lazy! You do fix drinks that are supposed to be shaken and only pour! Lazy! Shaken drinks are to be shaken!!! If you want drinks served properly so yourself a favor fix it at home yourself or go somewhere they know how to fix drinks. More often than not bartenders are up beat this is not the case here at this Apple Bees. I pride myself in giving good tips , this time my tip is not made of paper with a picture of a president. The manager has been on her cell phone the entire time we've been here which may explain the bartender being lazy as the manager is setting the examples for the employees. In all honesty I simply cannot give this restaurant anymore than 2 stars. The food was cold ..it's just disappointing. Service was good but the steak was served a little cold. Also my friend and I are now feeling very sick. I've heard many people say the same thing after eating at this location. Service can be difficult. They have a big sign on the window saying they serve breakfast on the weekends, but they actually no longer have breakfast at all so not sure why the sign is still there. read more

I can understand the transition from COVID customer service and regular customer service, but this Applebees really lags with any real effort. I went in to pick up 2 gift cards. Let's keep in mind, we are social distancing so the place isn't really busy. I walked up to the bar to order the 2 gift cards. The gentleman said I'll be back to take your order. He literally seems irritated that I was there. I couldn't understand why when they weren't even busy. Just moved here from Florida. Applebees is always one of our go to places. First off we got seated, ordered drinks and appetizer. Received our appetizer before we even got our drinks. Then we ordered burgers and a prime rib dipper. Ummm the dipper was cooked sooo much the meat was crunchy! It was like eating jerky! If I can give this place 0 stars I would. I came to this place so many times and since martinsville is limited to restaurants than this was a common place where I would take my clients to. I've never had a problem here before. Today I just came in and wanted to order a drink and the young lady at the bar asked for my ID as normal. She advised me that she is unable to take my ID due to there beings bend on the bottom corner. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Absolute worst experience at an Applebee's ever. When we walked in people were leaving and were viably upset with their experience. Being that I was working out of town in a small town, there were not very many options, so we decided to stay. BIG MISTAKE!!! I ordered the Bourbon Blue Cheese Burger without mushrooms. The burger came out with mushrooms under the cheese and the waitress seemed confused by my sending the burger back to be made WITHOUT mushrooms! The food came back out with the mushrooms scrapped off and a cold piece of cheese on the burger. I'm not sure how this qualifies as acceptable. The table behind us was complaining to management about "someone being a whore". These two girls were about to get in a fight. It was just the least pleasurable $19 I have ever spent! This is your typical Applebee's. It's clean, there's a good selection on the menu, and the service was decent when we were there. We were able to find something on the menu that fit our diet as diabetics, so that was a definite plus. The Thai shrimp salad was tasty and filling, despite being just 400 calories. Anyway....I'm sure almost everyone on earth has been to an applebees at one time or another, so you already have an idea about the food here. On the negative side, There was vomit in the parking lot (never a good sign for a restaurant), and the restaurant smelled a bit on the funky side (sort of like old stale beer). On the plus side, my waitress/bartender Heather was gorgeous. (Hey, it helps make the experience more fun, I'm only human)... Also, she was extremely prompt and attentive... Called in a to-go order 20 mins before the curbside service ended and was told with an attitude that I had to come in because "her girls don't need to be out that late." However, being someone who works for a restaurant myself and having to do curbside service until 9:30/10pm in the same area I feel like the attitude was unnecessary as I simply asked a question about their to-go service. Every time I dine in at this restaurant the food is overcooked and the waiter never checks on me and the host always seems annoyed at having to do their job. All around everyone has ATTITUDES.
