Food is consistently good. As of late the service is much better than it was years ago. As food is prepared fresh, it takes a little while, but that give you time to enjoy your drink. Its a regular stoo for us. I especially love the wings and my wife raves over the flat bread pizzas and wraps. read more

I have never had a disappointing meal at this restaurant. Love fried pickles, the mac and cheese and some truly terrific menu items -- haven't missed yet. Servers have always been very attentive -- the cook, chef comes out sometimes and wants to hear a personal review -- which from me is always good to very good to exceptional. Before Katrina, I used to live in New Orleans so my visits here have always been pleasant. Can't understand what these low scores are about -- maybe they were sitting at the bar too long and just like to whine. The low reviews are inaccurate -- give this spot a try. read more

This is tough to write because the food is pretty good, but the service at this restaurant is so poor, I just can't recommend it. We waited 5 minutes to be sat and were never served after that. Waited 20 minutes to order drinks and the waitress would not come to our table. We tried to get their attention and they wouldn't even look our way. As we left, we told the waitress how long we waited for service and she just said "Sorry". The food here is not bad but I just don't have 2 hours to wait for a hamburger and French fries. Martinsville already has limited dining options. If this restaurant could fix their service issues they would be much more popular. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside. But.... Oh My Word Split 3 Starters as our meal... I have eaten BBQ/Pulled Pork all over. This is some of the best pulled pork I have ever had... on the cheese fries of amazingness. The BBQ Quesadillas are also hearty and ridiculous. Well balanced, packed FULL of balanced flavors. I worked at Wile Magnolia around six months ago. They refuse to pay me. I never received a dime for working there. They simply say that they will mail the check. I have told them repeatedly that I have not received it. I asked to pick it up but they say they have mailed it. They are always short staffed. This is probably the reason. I love to support small businesses but this small business is profiting by not paying the cooks that work short staffed. I wonder how much more money is being skimmed off of employees that are getting paid. read more

Waited for 50+ minutes for our food. Was told that the kitchen was backed up but people who came in 20 minutes after us were served first.

We ordered Crab stuffed mushrooms as a starter, these were very good. Unfortunately our salt and pepper Ribeyes were not good- I would say that these were rather cut from the front quarter as there was no marbling and they were as tough as any stewing steak. Secondly the meat was cooked wrongly I ordered Med Rare and as I always understood this should be a warm red inside where as my meal was at best pink and brown. Visiting my grand daughter we had lunch. We had the pickle spears they were on point . My daughter had a grilled chicken wrap that she enjoyed and my husband had a grilled cheese and soup he said the grilled cheese was better then most places I had fish and chips they were really good our server Justin was super cool and took great care of us. The place is a little hard to find but it's clean and inviting once you get in. All in all we enjoyed our lunch and will be back when we our in town again. read more

Following internet leads, we tried the Wild Magnolia while in Martinsville. Overall, we were not impressed. My sirloin was tough, and fatty, the service was slow, and we had to ask for condiments, and refills. My friend liked her Salmon, but has had better. No more than a 3 star here. read more

We found this place through Yelp and decided to check it out while in town for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Our server Shaye was very polite, attentive and had a pleasant personally. Our appetizer cheese fries were very tasty, the homemade ranch was delicious. I got the pork BBQ quesadillas, which were alright. Quite messy, and overloaded with too much bbq sauce but ok. Another person in our party got the chicken salad sandwich, and then some BBQ chicken wings. Everything was ok, but nothing was outstanding. The cheese fries were definitely the winner out of everything. Overall it was good. Service was good although we were almost getting antsy waiting for our food after our appetizer. A few other tables that came in after us had been served before us... But it did show up before we had to question anyone. Oh and the sweet tea was pretty amazing. read more

A [360-degree] Turnaround After being loyal customers for years, we finally bid adieu to the Wild Magnolia after the service and food quality became unbearable. Recently we decided to give the Mag a second chance after they published a mea culpa online, claiming that they had recognized the problem, closed for hiring and training new staff, and had reopened with a renewed commitment to quality. Boy, did we ever make a mistake. Upon entering, the eatery was obviously recovering from a kitchen fire, with smoke permeating the premises. After finally getting the hostess's attention, we were greeted with an obvious attitude. Unfortunately, I had to speak loudly to garner her attention. She sauntered over as though we had imposed upon her by entering the premises. We seated ourselves at our normal booth which, today, sported sticky, unidentifiable substances from at least the night before. As we scanned the area for a suitable alternative, we realized that we had selected the best that "Mag's" had to offer. Upon asking, the aforementioned hostess/waitress begrudgingly wiped down exactly half the table. The logic of this maneuver escapes me. A thick, white film remained over half the eating surface. We ordered a bottle of our favorite white wine and one would have thought that we had asked for the resurrection of Rome. It took precisely three employees to maneuver, and eventually operate, a rabbit wine opener. Alas, we were presented with an open, and seemingly drinkable, bottle of Hamlet Pinot Gris. Though the feat inspired a degree of confidence in our dining experience, hope was shattered upon being informed there was (obviously) no cold wine. Never fear! Our waitress presented us with a cocktail shaker filled completely with ice. You see, we could dilute our 75-degree wine over ice and poor the remnants into our wine glasses, ice-free! We stared at the mixer in wonder, having no actual wine glasses. When the waitress finally returned with our glasses, they too were dirty from the night before. There was no point in prolonging the agony. At this point, we were rightfully concerned that any food we may be served from Dante's Kitchen Inferno would be unsafe to eat. We agreed to pay for the warm wine and quickly absconded. Sadly, the Mag is in its death throes. The owners are absent. There is no management. The staff remains careless about the customer, and the lack of cleanliness casts doubt about overall food safety. The Mag may claim to have turned over a new leaf, but it has only turned over in its grave. read more

This was the absolute worse place I have ever eaten. My French dip was burnt, dry, cold, and tasteless! My salad tasted like dirt. My husband said he has eaten week old chicken that tasted better than the cajun chicken and shrimp pasta he was served. Business trip to Martinsville, place was recommended. Had to be as you'd never stumble across it. Place is on the backside of a half empty strip mall. Beer list is short on choice but what they offer is of good quality. Also had a pretty good choice of Bourbons (at least as I see it). Prices were very good for me but I don't have a reference for the area. Tried the poutine for an app, what I got was an order of disco fries. They helped soak up the beer but that certainly wasn't cheese curds. My meal was the Shrimp club. Awesome sandwich, generous portion. Shrimp added a nice twist to your standard club. Wasn't able to finish it. Lingered for a few drinks when we were done. Would definitely try again next time I'm in Martinsville on business read more

When I'm in Martinsville sometimes I will stop in here to grab a few drinks with friends. They have two bars and the beer is always cold and pretty cheap. I've never eaten here before but I've heard good things and the food that comes out of the kitchen looks pretty good. It's a small town bar with a lively nighlife so set your expectations accordingly. read more

Was in town visiting an aunt and picked this restaurant for dinner. It is hard to find as it is on the back side of Patrick Henry Mall. We had the unfortunate luck of walking in shortly after a table of 16 arrived. Needless to say service was a little slow but understandable. Our waitress did the best she could with an overload kitchen. I had the Chicken Kentuckian which was very tasty and the chicken breast was nicely cooked and still juicy. I would have liked a bit more sauce. My wife had the crab cakes which were quite good. They supplied plenty of sour cream for her baked potato - a pet peeve. We had the fried pickles for an appetizer. They were quite flavorful but a tad crunchy. A better meal than I was expecting in Martinsville. read more

The boyfriend and I decided to stop in for a few drinks after the visiting with family over the Thanksgiving Break. We were surprised (and happy!) to see that they carried Fat Tire and a few other brews besides the normal watered down American beer. Since they advertised martini's quite a bit, I decided to give their dirty martini a shot. It was pretty well made and wasn't too heavy on the olive juice. I really couldn't complain. The one thing we found to be funny were the "$20 Date Night" flyers plastered everywhere.
