Not going to recommend this Applebee's to anyone.Came here about 3 years ago and had bad experience with service.We walk in and they sat us down but never came back to see if we wanted to drink anything.After 10 minutes i call the manager who gave me some excuse on what happen,okay so why is all the waitress in a group laughing and gossiping.tonight was no better waitress didn't talk English real good or remember what beer I ordered plus it was flat draft beer.order a long neck bud light beer.she brought me back a regular Budweiser,my wife ordered a perfect margaritas and the were out Patron.Food was good and on time,but the staff suck.love my Applebee's in the Austin area never had a bad experience like this one read more

Long story short, worst service ever.. It took 15 minutes to get a drink from our server Jose A... It wasn't a mixed drink, just a simple fountain drink, something that takes seconds to prepare. I would understand if our server was running around working, but we had perfect view of him flirting/chatting with another table the entire time. Again, Applebee's isn't fine dining, but we at least expected decent service. Very disappointed. I dine out very often and always tip well, but this is the first time I've ever felt like such a nuisance than I did today. The original greeting was our server giving his name, then cutting me off when I asked for my beverage and saying he'd be back(after going just to flirt). Yep, should have checked reviews before coming over here. Service is terrible and slow and I'm sitting at the bar. I was halfway through my meal before I managed to get silverware and I put out my credit card to pay about 10 minutes before I started writing this post. It's still sitting there. The manager has spent the last half hour sitting at a table watching football with his employees going over to hang out. So complaining to him would not be worth it. My husband specifically ordered a burger well done...he took 1 bite and it was rare. He sent it back and in all fairness the chef was very nice...but I had finished my salad by the time he got his burger. My salad was drowned in dressing...I couldn't even finish it. Then...to add insult to injury...the fire alarm went off and they had to get the fire department to turn it off. It was still going when we left. Not a good experience. read more

Probably one the worst staffs at this Applebee's. Marcos, our server, Jay, a lady bringing out our plates, and some guy with a wanna be beard. Completely lacking customer service, rude and having an attitude of not wanting to be here. The food was good but staff made this experience bad. Manager probably oblivious to all of this. It's sad that people have a job but don't appreciate the value of actually working for their stuff. read more

After waiting about 15 min for our food we hear the waitress tell the table next to us of five, who had been there before us, that she was sorry the food was taking so long that orders were backed up - which was a heads up that it would be a while for ours, great. Our appetizer of sweet potato fries arrived and although they tasted good, it was the most pathetic serving of fries ever! I posted a picture, it was about 20 fries for both of us to share, it looked less than what you get with a meal at a fast food place and I paid $5 for that!! After about 30min I started feeling sick so asked for our order to go, when we got home we found that our food looked like someones leftover! It was barely any food! I feel like I paid almost $50 to eat someones leftovers last night! I am highly disappointed and dont see myself going back ever again or taking my family from out of town there anymore when they come and visit. Was seated after a thirty minute wait...No biggie, it was late on a Wednesday evening. What mattered was our table of eight were given no menus, silverware or asked if we wanted drinks. Fifteen minutes later we flagged a waiter from another table. He brought menus and took our drink orders. Ten minutes later four of us placed our order, he said he would come back and take the other fours order after placing ours ( he took orders by memory). Another fifteen minutes passed and I received my order...the Wonton Chicken Tacos and a bowl of French Onion Soup. Was looking forward to dipping into a piping hot bowl of soup with broth and onions. Instead my bowl of soup was lukewarm with little broth and cold bread and cheese sitting on top. BOO!!! My Chicken Tacos were decent, but nothing like what O was served at the Harlingen Applebee's. Very disappointed with the service and food. Maybe they were just having a less than desirable night. On that note....I will never visit this Applebee's again. read more

I love Applebees in Ohio, I go once or twice a weekday soup and salad which comes as much as you want. Here they don't offer that so I ordered some if my favorite appetizer S what a disappointment. All three tasted half way spoiled. My waiter was good but food yuck. Plus the restaurant smelled like rotten eggs when I walked in. Corp office needs to do some retraining down here so south Texas can taste some good Applebees. read more

Service was great, best cold beer. Make sure to take a sweater or jacket because it is very cold inside! Food was average.

Me and my gf went here at 4pm on a wednesday so it wasn't packed at all and their was a long wait to get a table and host wasn't welcoming or friendly at all. Our sweet teas tasted horrible, chips had a horrible taste, had to send it back. steak was dry and extremely over cooked. gfs ribs were cold and service was really bad. Employees are just standing around talking and telling jokes instead of serving customers. Needs new management and cooks. Very disappointed. read more

Worst customer service I have ever had at an Applebee's. Walked in waited about 3 minutes until the hostess finally decided to walk over and sit us down. Her and 4 other waitress were all hanging out in a booth talking while my family stood there and waited. Finally while we sat and waited for another 5 min or so cause our waitress talked away. She came over brought our drinks and took our order. They brought our appetizers and we had no plates or silverware couple minutes went by and she brought out plates. Overall experience wouldn't go back here again. Or recommend anyone to go here. read more

Came on a Monday Night so really not expecting it to be busy but it just so happened to be MNF. It was a lil busy even tho absolutely NO ONE was watching the game so I can just assume that this place is busy all the time? I am from Dallas and was looking for a quick place to catch some dinner and have a cheap drink. Where I come from the Applebees always has a $1 draft special. This place does not. Still not expensive so its ok. The service was not too great. Appetizer took a long while and then less than 1 min later the salads and entrees came. Just a pet peeve but I do not like appetizers, salads AND entree all on the table at the same time as it gets crowded and hot food gets cold while you are eating salad. Asked the food runner if he could take the hot food back to keep warm while we tried to finish appetizers. In doing so when we did get our food it was all dried out from being under a heating lamp too long. Only pleasant thing about this location was the music kept myself and the kids entertained. read more

I don't know why I continue to think things are going to change at Applebee's. I guess I keep thinking that it's the restaurant not the chain--but after my experience at this Applebee's I know it's the chain. I walked in and waited several minutes for a hostess to greet me. After I was seated I waited another 10 minutes for a waitress to come to the table. When someone finally did it was to tell me that my waiter was busy with a big party. But they did take my drink order. I then waited another 10 minutes and finally someone else came and asked me if I was "ready to order?" Or at least that's what I thought he said. When I said yes he picked up the menu from the table and placed it at the register--that was a few feet away. Thinking that was a little odd, I waited for him to come back to actually take my order. But he didn't--he walked to he other side of the restaurant. I think he actually asked asked me if I was still wanting the menu. Hmmmm. I waited a few minutes and still no one came. So after more than 20 minutes in the booth waiting for service I then went to the hostess and told her that I was leaving because no one came to serve me. She just looked at me--said nothing. So I left. When I came on yelp to write this I discovered that many others have complained about the same lousy service. I should have looked here first. This was our favorite family hang out. Not so much anymore. We were not so friendly greeted and asked if a high table was ok. I politely said no thanks we need something for a two year old. I saw a twist in the corner of her mouth and reluctantly sat us in a low table. We then waited for at least twenty minutes before our drink order was even taken. And only because we asked for our server. We were giving the excuse that it was a shift change and thus the reason for the service delay. So the hostess with the crooked mouth took our order. Then our drinks were brought to us by a waitress which always already here prior to the so called shift change. There was another family sitting next to us which also complained because of bad service. They left without eating but not before speaking to the manager which gave them a discount on their drinks. So disappointed this place has really gone down in customer service...... and the food wasn't all that. Seemed as thought it was microwaved. I think my beer was warmer than my ribs. Oh well looks like we're in the hunt for a new family hangout. read more

My family celebrated my birthday at this restaurant August 3. There were few patrons having meals and drinks, not much activity for 6PM. The waitress took our drink orders, after 10 minutes, we had not received our drinks and called over the manager. He had them delivered. The dinner was ordered as soon as we started to have our drinks, the waitress took the order (no apology for not delivering our drinks). We finished our first round...no meals. Ordered another round of drinks.....15 minutes later, no meal. We flagged down the manager, again. He had someone check on our dinner (4 adults, 1 child). The food was delivered by another waitress and we ordered another round of drinks. Food was mediocre, the service horrible!!! We've decided that this will be our first and last time there. The Applebee's in Harlingen is much better in service and food preparation/presentation. Lesson learned. read more
