We came here to celebrate my dad's bday and this is his favorite restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the meat cooked perfectly! We got super lucky with our server, he was super attentive and brought us everything we needed. I wish I got his name lol. Overall it was a great meal

I've dined here a lot of times but every time the service was horrible! Had to find someone, or asked the hostess for my drink. Service was very slow. Side dishes were overcooked steak were good. Feel like we're always chasing the server to ask something. Ordered a margarita specifically asked to make it not too sweet, came out Like lemonade and tasted off so I returned it and again had to asked one of the hostess cause I can't find my server told her I don't want anymore but then she came back with another one so I politely told her that I don't want it anymore. 5 minutes later my server came back with the same margarita so I explained it to her the whole thing since she vanished after she took our order never came back to check on us. It wasn't busy at all. Asked for the Bill And it's all messed up. Got charged $3 for xtra sides that I didn't ordered, and I got charged for the margarita that I returned. Went to the hostess again and ask for a manager since I can't find my server again. 30minutes later Manager never showed up. Very Disappointed! Never coming back and would not recommend it.

In Texas you ought to get steaks right, right? Well LongHorn steakhouse didn't manage it tonight. We ordered the Chef's Showcase Porcini Portabella Ribeye - medium rare. What arrived was a ribeye with one half a slice of small Portabella. Looked pretty grim on the plate, cutting into the steak we understood why we got half a mushroom slice. It was because the steak was only half cooked. The bottom had never seen a flame. Our waiter told us that was the way they cooked steaks, on the flatiron. The manager said, "Pshaw! The chef tried to salvage the steak over cooked on one side by skipping the other side. Did we want a different one?" Dang right we did. It arrived in great shape, so maybe one out of two ain't bad.? Wrong. In Texas you treat all your meat with respect....

Good bread. But, not to much..

Teddys BBQ: A Disappointing Experience Unworthy of the Top 50…read moreTeddys BBQ, a celebrated winner of the "Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Awards," arrived with high expectations that were, unfortunately, decimated by the actual experience. Arriving at 11:10 AM, just after opening, we anticipated fresh, high-quality smoked meats and homemade sides. What we received was an uninspiring meal that leads me to question the legitimacy of its Top 50 status--and frankly, its place in the Top 100. This visit was a letdown, especially compared to the twelve other far superior BBQ joints we tasted this past week. The Meats: Misses and One Minor Hit The foundation of the barbecue here was weak, suggesting corner-cutting or, worse, reheating of old product. * Brisket: This was the biggest disappointment. The slice was terrible--dry, lacking juice, and with a bark that was chewy rather than crisp. It looked and tasted suspiciously like leftovers reheated from the day before, which is unacceptable minutes after opening. * Ribs: Nothing special here. They lacked the depth of smoke flavor and suffered from a distracting, undesirable "hammy" taste. There wasn't much meat on the bone, and the glaze was applied too lightly, failing to add any necessary sweetness or texture. * Jalapeño Cheese Sausage: This was the sole highlight of the meat offerings. It was a nice standard sausage with a good peppery snap to the casing and a satisfying ooze of cheddar cheese. It offered a nice, reliable counterpoint to the lackluster smoked proteins. Failed Opportunity: The Texas Twinkie The infamous Texas Twinkie completely missed the mark. While the basic concept of a bacon-wrapped, cream-cheese-stuffed jalapeño is sound, the execution here was poor. The filling was overwhelmingly cream cheese, which completely sucked the flavor out of the jalapeño and bacon. It was a great opportunity wasted by failing to include a bit of smoked brisket or chicken to give it complexity. Sides: Bland, Bland, Bland The sides tasted uninspired, suggesting they were prepared from a can or box rather than crafted from scratch--an unforgivable sin for a purported Top 50 establishment. * Creamed Corn: It was creamy but utterly bland. It needed significant elevation--perhaps charring the corn kernels or adding some diced jalapeño pieces for heat and brightness. * Mexican Rice: This was mushy and flavorless. It desperately lacked the savory depth and spice expected of Mexican rice. A small addition of pork or brisket trimmings would have provided necessary flavor and prevented it from tasting so generic. Dessert: An Unprofessional Finish The Grapefruit Pie was the final letdown. The filling tasted okay, but the crust was clearly store-bought. To be considered a Texas elite, every component should be homemade and excellent. This felt like an amateur concession. Final Verdict Overall, Teddys BBQ was profoundly uninspiring. Given that we arrived right after opening, expecting the freshest quality, and having recently toured 12 genuinely great BBQ places, this location falls far short. It simply does not belong in the Top 50, or even the Top 100. Teddys has a lot of room for improvement if it wants to justify its ranking.

We enjoyed our lunch here…read more First time at a Teddy's BBQ. You order at the counter as you walk in, then pay at the end of the line, then your food tray handed to you. Two of us shared the following: - Chopped brisket sandwich - 1/2 pound pork ribs (2-bones) - Creamed corn side - Loaded mashed potatoes side - Bread, pickles and onions - Banana pudding - 2 fountain drinks The food was all real good. On the way out, we stopped by the meat smoking area to watch them wrap some briskets. We'd come back to Teddy's.

We have frequented this location a couple times and I will say we are yet to leave disappointed …read more On this occasion we chose to come for breakfast and Wow ! Homemade tortillas were prepared as we briefly waited for our order. I chose two sausage and egg tacos with a side order of refried beans. My wife asked for a sliced brisket sandwich. Folks they did not disappoint. They tacos are so full I had to ask for an additional 2 extra tortillas (super soft ) yes I had a total of four tacos. I had to share . The brisket sandwich was spot on as well. This restaurant is extremely clean and tv's with sports airing which creates a great atmosphere. The food is delicious but what inspired me to leave à Five star review was an employee named Marivel . She seems to me as a manager ( because she cared for our satisfaction ) . This lady is amazing she greeted us with a much appreciated "Welcome" ! Her knowledge of the menu is what one would be impressed with and she works every facet of this place . From counter to drive thru to preparing sides and it seems as if most of the customers either know her or she knows them. This is quality customer service. She came by our table to make sure everything was up to her standards (very high) While the food is great tasting, it's about people like her that Care !' I've read some reviews that weren't favorable. Maybe it was a different crew or staff . Well not us and not today! Superior service , warm , fresh and great tasting food and hospitality that is unconditional . We're excited to possibly make this our weekly go to ! The menu is vast and so much to choose from. We'll be back soon.

We were driving from Progreso, Texas to Weslaco, Texas and we saw a sign that said: "The Best BBQ…read morerestaurant in town, half a mile west". We were hungry and we decided to give this place a try. We arrived at the location that has a large paved parking lot, and we see a grey building built like an old west saloon. Nicely decorated inside and out. We ordered some brisket Panchos to share (large plate of Nachos, topped with cheese, tomato, onions, jalapeños and a very large portion of chopped smoked beef brisket). The chips were not crunchy as we expected, slightly stale for my taste. The star of the plate was the chopped beef brisket, and it had plenty of meat, that was juicy and nicely smoked, it did not disappoint anyone. To better this plate, I would suggest checking your chips are fresh, add more fluid cheese instead of straight cheddar. The next plate was a mushroom and Swiss hamburger, it was a large juicy hamburger, was nicely cooked and delicious. The next plate was a one meat plate: Baby Back Ribs, with a side of potato salad and a side of beans. Comes with two slices of wheat bread and a portion of sliced onions and sliced pickles. The ribs were beautifully smoked and flavorful. The potato salad was fresh and on point. The beans were nicely seasoned (but they had more liquid than beans). The last plate was a two meat plate: Smoked Beef Brisket and sliced sausage, with a side of potato salad and a side of creamy coleslaw. The sliced beef brisket was a flavorful as the one topping the panchos. It had a generous amount of meat, that was smoked to perfection. The potato salad was beautiful. The coleslaw I saved for last, it didn't look like your common coleslaw, it was slight purple in color and smooth (no thick cut cabbage), the cabbage was finely sliced and it looked totally different than any other coleslaw I ever had. When I first put the coleslaw in my mouth, ///////// I COULD NOT STOP EATING IT!!!!!! I realized that the color was from purple cabbage added, but the best part of it, was that it was packed with chunks of fresh apple (I could have eaten a whole bowl of it). If I could improve on this plate, your meats are top notch, but your sausage quality was not there, a good sausage needs to have texture, your sausage was almost like a hotdog texture, and it lacked smokiness and flavor. One more suggestion, add sweet and unsweet brewed tea, we were disappointed you didn't offer it. Now, is this the Best BBQ in town???? You be the judge.
