I need to upgrade my review for this LongHorn Steakhouse. I noticed I left a 2-star review back in 2017 after a disappointing experience. I've returned several times since then and my experiences have been consistently positive. Restaurants tend to have high employee turnover rates, and can have personnel issues from time to time - especially on challenging days when they're getting slammed like on that Mother's Day. So here's my redemption review... This LongHorn Steakhouse is located on the north side of Interstate 2 (Expressway 83) in Weslaco, in front of the JCP and Academy stores and in between Texas Blvd. And N. Bridge Road. The current management has maintained the property well. It is a handsome building with the trademark stonework facade, nicely landscaped, with ample, well lit parking. It is handicapped accessible, and high chairs for toddlers are available. It would be good for small groups as well as family get-togethers, and business lunch or date night. They offer their signature steaks, burgers, salmon, chicken, some comfort food like their excellent mac n cheese, salads, and more. I met some friends here for a late lunch on a Saturday around 4 PM. There was no wait. Our server did an incredible job, was friendly, attentive, and checked back on us several times. She kept our drinks filled and even offered a to-go cup as we were wrapping up. The fresh baked bread and butter was delicious, served along with our drinks while we looked over the menu. I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. I noticed the potato had a lot of salt encrusted on the skin, but since I did not eat the skin, it was not a problem - though it could be an issue for those on low-sodium diets. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy on the outside for the most part... I would have enjoyed them more a bit crisper and with some Balsamic vinager, but they were still pretty good. The steak was cooked as requested and delicious. My friends also enjoyed their orders. There was some background music, but it was at a decent level so it did not hinder our conversation. I really enjoyed this visit and dining experience, recommend this LongHorn Steakhouse, and based on my last three visits am awarding them the full five stars. read more

It was my daughter's birthday, and of all the restaurants, she chose LongHorn in Weslaco. We arrived at 7:00 PM and had called in before getting there to reserve a table for 18. We checked in again with the hostess at the front, telling her it was a party of 18. She said it would be a one-hour wait, so we decided to wait since that is what my daughter wanted for her birthday. We literally saw people getting there and being seated right away. They ate their food, and we even saw them leaving the restaurant. By then, we had already waited for more than two hours. We decided to ask for a manager to see what the holdup was. In front of the manager, the hostess said, "Well, the waiters don't want a party of 18." She then started making gestures, showing she did not care if we got seated or not. The whole idea that LongHorn thrives on customer service was absolutely not the case here. My daughter's birthday dinner was completely ruined due to the lack of customer service. We were never even acknowledged while waiting for more than two hours. Without serving customers, you wouldn't have jobs. read more

Manager Mauricio Trevinio and Nick Cunningham are the very best examples of hospitality. I arrived at the Harlingen airport from Dallas. I tried to rent a car and found out that my drivers license was expired. I had to make a last minute call to my sister-in-law from Donna to pick me up and take me to my parent's house in McAllen for my visit. To thank her, I treated her to a delicious dinner and wine at the Weslaco Longhorn Steakhouse. After I arrived in McAllen, I realized that I left my credit card at the restaurant. I called and Manager Mauricio Trevinio told me he would keep it safe for me. I asked if someone would be going to the McAllen Longhorn Restaurant so I could more easily pick up my credit card there. He offered to take it to McAllen on his day off. He would have had to go out of his way to go there because he doesn't live in McAllen. No one offers that! I became sick with a virus and quarantined due to my elderly parents safety. I communicated with Mauricio and explained my need for my credit card to pay for my antibiotics and medication. He was so kind and thoughtful. He asked Nick Cunningham if he could drop it off in McAllen on his way home that day. My parents live close to the McAllen location. Nick was willing to drop the card off at my mother's doorstep while we communicated by phone. I saw this young man from the bedroom window do this for me when I was so ill. I didn't want to expose Nick to my virus so I didn't meet him in person. I was raised in Donna but left over 42 years ago. What these two men did for me reminded me of the warm and rich culture of growing up in the RGV. I've lived in Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto and California. I've been to many fine restaurants. No one comes close to Mauricio and Nick. Note: I told them I would write a review a very long time ago. Neither one reminded me or asked me to write this. I've never had so many inconveniences on one trip. Most of my travel is uneventful. Thank you Mauricio and Nick for your willingness to step up and help me. I'll never forget. Last two times have been horrible experiences. Won't ever be going back. Both times the silverware was extremely dirty . Our forks literally had chunks of food in them. I've dined here a lot of times but every time the service was horrible! Had to find someone, or asked the hostess for my drink. Service was very slow. Side dishes were overcooked steak were good. Feel like we're always chasing the server to ask something. Ordered a margarita specifically asked to make it not too sweet, came out Like lemonade and tasted off so I returned it and again had to asked one of the hostess cause I can't find my server told her I don't want anymore but then she came back with another one so I politely told her that I don't want it anymore. 5 minutes later my server came back with the same margarita so I explained it to her the whole thing since she vanished after she took our order never came back to check on us. It wasn't busy at all. Asked for the Bill And it's all messed up. Got charged $3 for xtra sides that I didn't ordered, and I got charged for the margarita that I returned. Went to the hostess again and ask for a manager since I can't find my server again. 30minutes later Manager never showed up. Very Disappointed! We show up and they tell us to sit down and proceed to keep passing other groups ahead of us and even 2 groups of 5 so we just got up and left. What arrived was a ribeye with one half a slice of small Portabella. Looked pretty grim on the plate, cutting into the steak we understood why we got half a mushroom slice. It was because the steak was only half cooked. The bottom had never seen a flame. Our waiter told us that was the way they cooked steaks, on the flatiron. The manager said, "Pshaw! On May 19, 2022 at approximately 8:10 p.m. we called to see if we can make a reservation for 8 people and that we were five minutes away. The hostess said they don't do reservations but not to worry because there was no wait. We arrived literally five minutes later and were advised there was a 30-45 minute wait. Even though we were bothered because we just called and were told there was no wait we decided to wait. 15 minutes into the wait I went to the restroom only to discover that there were so many tables available for eight. Two workers who appeared to be servers were slowly rolling tableware and stopping to show things on each other's phones. The restroom was very dirty with toilet paper cut in pieces all over the floor. The floor was also wet quite a bit around the urinals and I almost slipped. As I walked on the other side of the dining area I saw more tables available. The hostess continued to sit other parties of four and one of five around the area where we could have been and what was open. We continued to wait and I noticed we were already at 45 minutes of waiting. I asked the hostess why we couldn't be seated if there was plenty of room and especially on the other side. She told me that since they are about close for the night that one side was closed and that they had no servers to tend to us. I told her I understand that but why were other parties of 4 and 5 going ahead of us and sitting what could have been for us? She then said they are getting our table ready right now. 15 mins went by (now a total of one hour) and we were still waiting. I was not certain why this played out like this. No manager was seen during our visit. We were celebrating a very special occasion and chose Longhorn because of its reputable menu. Unfortunately we wasted our time and ended up leaving and going to a fast food place. The girl never put it into the system so when we arrived we were told it would be 35 minutes wait We wanted 45 and then went to find out what was going on and again we were not in the system. Like most steakhouse franchises you'd expect the steaks to deliver. At longhorn they have a fairly consistent record of delivering good we'll cook steaks. The ribeye, flat iron, and chopped always are cooked to perfection with the only exception being a new York strip that was over when I asked for a medium. Their raspberry and black berry tea are very good. When it comes to sides it's your generic fries, broccoli, loaded mash etc. The usual family dinner chain food. They do have unique apps however. The beer selection is better than Logan's and the service is better than Texas Roadhouse. It is more pricy than those two but only because it's focus is steak, not the Roadhouse menu style. I wouldn't get a salad here. The strawberry salad and the pepper steak salad are not amazing. Stick to steak. The bathroom is usually clean and the staff usually friendly. However I would avoid this place before 12 and after 9. read more

Came here a second time only because it was my tia's birthday and this is what she wanted. Both my mom and my grandma ordered steaks cooked medium. What arrived was cold, tough, rare meat. Would have flagged down waiter to tell him but he ignored us. Finally he came to ask how food was. My mom asked him for boxes so she could take the steak home and cook it. My grandma added that they asked for medium and it wasn't. He took a look at the steak, left, and came back with two boxes and no apologizes or offers to send it back to the kitchen.
