I don't often go the Applebee's but as I was driving from Dallas to Little Rock, I decided to stop for lunch. The service was great, the food okay but they really need to come into the 21st Century and not allow smoking. Whether there is a designated "smoking area" or not, the smell and second hand smoke permeates the entire restaurant and is offensive. Had I known before-hand, I would never have stopped there. As this is right off the freeway and a known, fairly reasonable chain restaurant, I certainly had no expectation of having to deal with this issue. read more

Walked in with maybe three other tables there. Was an odd time of day so no big deal. . Two more tables walked in behind me. I sat at the bar for almost 7 minutes before the lady behind went back to the kitchen door and hollered at the staff for service because they were not greeted either. Food was sub par, sitting at the bar with an empty glass had to ask for another beer. Bartender and customer got into it over personal matters. Felt like on Jerry Springer for a bit. Worst experience ever in this place. I decided to have a beer, which turned into three over a three hour period, as I watched a world series game and reviewed notes for a state Board exam days away. I happened upon 2 young men I baby sat as children that were grown and decided to pick up the groups tab, which was around $50.00. I asked the bartender, who showed very little attention to me the whole time, for one last beer. I was then approached by the manager, a blonde with a ponytail, don't remember her name. She informed me that because I was paying a tab with numerous drinks (which were 90% consumed by the young group) that I had to order food before I could be served another drink, EVEN THOUGH SHE ADMITTED KNOWING THEY WERE THE FORMER GROUPS DRINKS ON THE TAB. After I explained she was misunderstanding the legal stand she was making, that I own a restaurant, and I had not had enough to drink over a 3.5 for span to require to order the terrible food they serve, I was asked to leave and consider myself "BANNED FOR LIFE". WHAT A JOKE THIS PLACE IS. TERRIBLE FOOD, TERRIBLE SERVICE, BARTENDERS, INCOMPETENT MANAGEMENT THAT REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE OWNERS NAME OR NUMBER. I ate here just before last Christmas since I was given a $20 gift card as a present by a co-worker. This was the first time in 7 years that I had been back to this restaurant. I was hoping this experience was 100 percent better than the experience that I had in 2004. Still not what it should be. The waitress that served the table that consisted of me, my boss, and another co-worker kind of knew what she was doing, but was strained by the nine other tables she was waiting on. It took too much time to get drink and food orders (near 30 minutes to get our food - kind of nuts when you are on your lunch break), to get drink refills, and so on. My boss and co-worker split a 2 for $20 special. My co-worker had a water with his meal and my boss had a sweet tea. When the ticket came, I noticed that the bill was higher than it should be. Asking for the ticket, found that the waitress had charged us for three drinks instead of two. At $2.29 each, this was something that was inexcusable. We just paid the bill, since it would have been another 20 minutes for incorrect bill to be corrected. I hope I don't have to go back here - no matter who is paying! (Aside - I give two stars since the food was decent in taste, should have been bigger portions for what we paid.) read more

Only gave one star because 0 stars was not an option. Worst experience here ever by far! We ordered car side to go, our order was to be ready by 8:01......waited until 8:20, called and was told "we aren't allowed outside after dark". Ok, whatever......so I went in, waited another 10 minutes and finally got our order. Decided to check it before we left, and of course it wasn't all there. So I go back in, wait another almost 10 minutes for a tiny, $5 "bowl" of soup. Got home and my chicken salad was literally a small bowl of lettuce with cold chicken on top, 2 quarter cut boiled eggs, and very watered down ranch dressing. I ordered an extra egg for my salad which was also missing. No tomatoes, no cheese, nothing but lettuce and chicken! Very disappointed in my wasted $60 on this meal, which I did tip 20% on. Won't ever make this mistake again though!!! They cater to the bar and no one else. read more

To start off with all Apple Bee's are not bad, But this restaurant needs some management, because i think it is ran by the incompetent employee's. We were greeted by the hostess. and she had to wash a booth before we could be seated. So when we were seated the waitress asked what we wanted to drink I told her id have a double shot of tequila on the rocks with salt and lime and then i asked what she had on draft, her answer was, I don't drink drink so i wouldn't know, so i then asked for someone who would know, by then the hostess came by and she told me their draft items, i had to say "coors light" 3 times before the waitress understood. Their is nothing wrong with my speech and i do not talk with a lisp "LOL" Then my wife ordered drinks for the children witch again she had to repeat her self "WOW" and this is just for drinks no entree's or dinner ordering yet. She leaves and comes back and says she can not serve me drinks because my license would not scan even though it is plainly visible, they were to lazy to punch the numbers in. Oh! by the way I'm 53 with a full blown beard..."LOL" well we were disgusted by this time and choose to leave. So my advice to others is to not go to Apple Bees when in Mt Pleasant. Instead go to "Chili's Grill And Bar 2403 S Jefferson Ave, Mt Pleasant, TX 75455" and ask for "Tile" she's a professional when it comes to people. read more

We had been driving for about 10 hours and needed to stop for a meal. We wanted a healthier option than fast food so we chose this place. We both have some diet restrictions. There weren't many options. They allow smoking in the restaurant. I didn't even know that was legal anymore and I'm asthmatic. The place was dirty. There was no soap or towels in the restroom. The table and seat had crumbs all over it. I ordered an unsweetened tea. I couldn't drink it as it tasted like it was spoiled. Tea also gets this taste when they don't clean the pitcher or what they make it in properly. I ordered a steak cooked medium. It came out rare, wasn't very warm and didn't have much flavor. I also ordered green beans which were cold and awful. I couldn't eat them they were so bad. I had a baked potato (I don't usually eat potatoes but they only have 5 sides, 3 of which are potatoes). It came out not cooked all the way, not warm, and had nothing on it or even to the side. I had to ask for some butter. They took their time bringing it out. The butter was so hard and not much of it, that it wouldn't melt. The waitress was ok but didn't come around much. The lady that kept bringing the food at first brought us someone else's. This isn't a big place and there weren't many people in there. If you want a decent meal, dont waste your time on this place. read more

I walked in the door on my walker ,with my wife and another couple. The hostess, Morgan, knowing that I was disabled proceeded to take us to the table ,way back in the back corner. We passed several open tables on the way to the back. She had no consideration for me,watching me hurt every step that I took. I guess the handicapped have to sit in the back. The food was not any better than the seating experience. I had the steak special, it was cooked ok,but was soft and mushy.
