Came here for dinner hadn't realized its all you can eat. The price is a tad higher than I wanted to pay but I was able to eat a lot of the food and the waitress let me take my fish with me since I didn't reorder any. I couldn't even eat the first serving!! The hush puppies came in two shapes and one seemed spicy compared to the other ?? I did eat 2 bowls of beans - seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I have eaten T a lot of catfish places and this is the worst one ever. The catfish had a weird taste and texture to it. The fries came out cold to the table and the hush puppies were almost inedible I didn't even try the beans they looked disgusting. This place has a"set up" that comes with meals, that consists of Pinto beans, coleslaw, green tomatoes, hush puppies, onions, butter, ketchup and tarter sauce. Took a while to get back here, but decided to stop for lunch on the way back home from Texarkana. Arrived just after opening at noon on a Sunday, quickly seated. They are doing a great job spacing the tables apart for the Covid-19 pandemic. Some employees had masks, others no. Menus were paper. She ordered the Pick 2 meal and had Fried Catfish and Fried Shrimp. I also did the Pick 2 and went with Fried Catfish and Fried Scallops. She had a Coke and I had a Sweet Tea. The girlfriend was a bit confused by their bringing out items we didn't order, and I explained that's how they do things here. Interesting setup of the cornbread into "mozzarella stick style" along with the hush puppies, coleslaw, onions, pickled tomatoes and beans. She really enjoyed her lunch and while we were in the back part of the restaurant, we could still see the lake. I also enjoyed my meal. Lots of food on that plate! The fries were a soggy disappointment, as was the side of mustard I asked for, which was delivered in a "dirty" bean dish. Service was great and of course they got more busy while we were there. WE ALL LOVE VAUGHAN's!! My mom moved here a few years back, and it took her and my step-dad a while to find out about Vaughan's, but now that we all know about it, it seems we go there every chance we get. The food is exquisite. Definitely recommend their unlimited fried fish, unless you don't have a big appetite, in which case they have plate options. Either way, you are provided complimentary hush puppies, pickled green tomatoes (delicious), cole slaw, and fries. On top of their great, great food, Vaughan's employees are always polite, and seem to get to know their customers the best they can while they are on the premises. When my family walks in, the employees seem to know what we are going to want before we order it. They're all wonderful. Definitely, definitely recommend this restaurant. Another great benefit of this place is the view that you get when heading inside/outside. They have a great view of lake Bob Sandlin. read more

Plus, my 85 year old mom, with dementia and in poor health, was not allowed to get a Children's or Senior's plate. Not offered on Saturdays. wth? And even after speaking with Supervisor, they would not modify their Saturday menu for the Senior Plate, or serve us a Children's plate. This is a locally owned, supposedly family restaurant!! So we pais full all-you-can-eat for my mom to have one piece of catfish. Mom loves it but it was our last visit and last dime I'll spend with such an unsympathetic, greedy, heartless restaurant. If you're incapable of eating enough to justify paying the insane cost for all you can eat fish...don't go. Don't order something small on the menu and touch a single hush puppy or any of the sides delivered to the table or they'll tag on additional charges (I think like $10 bucks?) thank goodness the waitress caught me as I just took a nibble, it could've cost us if I had eaten the entire thing. My husband hardly ate any of the sides so it all went into the trash when we left. Great way to do business. My husband didn't believe his meal was nearly good enough for the cost. There's plenty other restaurants out there that serve much better fish for only a fraction of what they charge here. We only came to dine because I wanted to give this restaurant a shot and a view of the lake really appealed to me. We both agreed to never return. The "extras"-beans, slaw, green tomato relish, and hush puppies are all in keeping with the 1970''s-1980's "let's go eat catfish " style. That is good. The catfish itself doesn't have that out of the nearby muddy creek taste. That is good also. Everything was served at the appropriate temperature and in plentiful amounts, with seconds available for the asking. The restaurant made money on us, because the first helping was so generous, we couldn't hold a second portion. I know the current situation with getting help and paying them contributes to the high cost of the meal , but, the cost and the fact that it is one and a half hours from my home are reasons we won't be back very often. If it were closer, we would try to splurge once a month or so. Bottom line, if you want a nostalgic catfish dinner that is excellent, make an effort to come here. read more

We are longtime patrons of Vaughn's For so many years our wedding anniversary night out has been spent at Vaughn's. No waiting for tables, fast friendly service and the shrimp and catfish is excellent. For 26 years , on our anniversary July 26 th ,we dine at Vaughn's. On this particular night the meal is topped off with a slice of Keylime Pie and wait staff singing "Happy Anniversary" . Needless to say the event is beautiful and has become an annual tradition. Vaughn's Catfish is in a picturesque location on Lake Bob Sandlin and only a short drive through the country from our ranch. Out to dine tonight with friends. I'm hearing impaired so I took my service dog along. Show identification to. The hostess and we were seated and began enjoying the appetizers. My service heard a noise and alerted me with 2 sharp barks indicating a ringing noise sound. My friends it was probably a cell phone. He settle down and payed on the follow as instructed. A man whom I didn't recognize came over to ask, "Is that a real service dog." I read his lips and indicted why he wanted to know. He said he was the owner. And I asked he was a service. He made another comment and I wasn't able to read his lips. So I did not answer. I did read his lips when he said I was drunk. His restaurant does not serve alcohol. I'm not sure how he made his assessment as I gave no indication of being on a stupor. I did have a drink at my friends home before leaving for dinner. And no I was not drunk. The arrogant of this man was rude and arrogant was beyond belief. In the end he refused to serve me. I'll take up this with the DOJ as he violated the ADA code of prejudice towards persons with a real disability and utilizing the help available to him under the law The owner is a real bully. I wanted to give Vaughan's 3.5. I've been there with just my husband and also with large groups. Mostly I've had the all- you-can-eat catfish. But other people have had different items offered on the menu and they have been average. The catfish is fresh from the lake nearby, and fried when ordered. None of the fillets were greasy or old, but, the first time I ate there the fillets were large and meaty. They fell apart in my mouth. The sides, beans, fries, Cole slaw and hush puppies were average. I'd hoped for a crispy, fresh slaw but it was the store bought stringy cabbage drowning in watery dressing. Every visit since the first we have had small fillets, very little "meat" on them and they had many dark spots. If you eat catfish you'll know what I'm talking about. The sides are consistently average. Dessert consists of store bought frozen pies. Service is great! Love the people who work there! read more

It comes home style with fries, Cole slaw, hush puppies and green tomato relish. The fish fillets come out hot and breaded perfectly. They are nice and thick, so when you eat one you know that you're eating catfish. The fries are hot and always taste like they have been cooked in fresh oil. I always get cocktail sauce to dip them into because I like a little bit of a bite that you don't get with ketchup. The price is good too. Only $16.95 a person. I know that sounds kinda pricey but at Vaughan's it's all you can eat and you know what you're getting. We were greeted warmly as we walked in, seated immediately, and before we could even finish admiring the lake view, we were served a basket of piping hot hush puppies in two flavors, homemade green tomato pickles, cole slaw, and spicy pinto beans. We were reading over the menu when the owner stopped by to introduce himself and welcome us. We went with his recommendation and had fried catfish, oysters, and shrimp.
