Y'all. This place was recommended to us by a dear friend. We were not disappointed! My husband got the chicken fried steak, I got the chicken fried chicken, and my daughter got the fried chicken sandwich. We all enjoyed the food! The fried chicken with the Jalapeno gravy was a combination I didn't know I needed! If you have doubts, get it on the side and try it. This town is the epitome of small towns and located inside this cute, small, quiet town center was Tag's! Servers were super sweet and provided lots of suggestions! I started off with one of their seasonal cocktails, a passionfruit martini, which was absolutely delicious! Her husband also got the margarita which he loved. I opted for the turkey club and my husband got the chicken fried steak. Both of them weren't bad, but I don't know if I would come back again to try those. This is the second time visiting Tag's and standard of service is terrible. This visit we had a while to wait for someone to shout across the room and TELL us to sit "here". We then had to sit for 5 minutes to receive menus, after another 10 minutes no one even came to the table to take orders. We all left without any service and went to Milano's where they were brilliant. They cannot use the excuse that they were busy as they were not. It will take a lot of changes for us to visit again and we will certainly spread the word about the serious lack of service!! read more

This great restaurant is on the quaint square of Mt. Vernon. We split the famous chicken fried steak. It was tender and DELICIOUS. We especially loved the way they cooked the sweet potato fries - crispy on the outside and buttery soft inside. The atmosphere is fantastic, and our server was top-notch. We decided to visit after a High School Game on Friday March 20th, they had a 90s night w a very loud DJ so we decided to dine outside. We were seated said waitress would be right w us. After 15 mins and 4 to 5 more tables seated inside we went ro make sure they didnt forget about us. Hostess assured waitress would be w us soon. We waited again sometime finally got a waitress out to take drinks and order. We never were given silverware or napkins and after sometime got our drinks. We then waited for wings w fries and a order of spinach artichoke dip for sometime. The spinach artichoke wasn't fresh and was more of a paste to pudding substance. We had to ask the runner of food for silverware he brought it back w no napkins before his arrival waitress had brought us a refill of drinks in Styrofoam cups like it was an issue to wait on us outside. We waited again forever before our check was ever offered to us paid and left. Why offer outside dining on a nice Summer temp night if yiu aren't gonna provide good service. Egg rolls are amazing. When I make potstickers at home, the egg rolls complete my meal. I get four orders of them for me and my family and it's less then $20.00. I was very excited to go this this restaurant for my birthday. I was hoping it would be a fun experience but I was very minimally impressed. It was very loud and smelled of oil and fried food. I ordered a hamburger which was dry ,overcooked, overwhelmed by the bun, had no condiments other than my extra order of cheddar cheese and a fried egg. The fried egg was hard fried and therefore there was no added moisture provided. My french fries were OK - slightly over seasoned. My husband's wings were cold in the center and he had to send them back. The rest of the food was mostly fried and moderately overdone. Thursday Night is Asian night at ML Edwards and Sally is cooking! The Pho is fantastic and worth a try, You'll be back. Service is average, waitstaff is occasionally MIA. The restaurant is a bar restaurant mix with a long wall of televisions, feels like a sports bar. If you think the tv's or bar could be a distraction to your dining pleasure, you may choose the section near the front windows. Just tried to have lunch here. 5 of us ordered, 4 got their meals, I got mine after everyone had finished eating. I got the gnocchi and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. My friend tasted too and agreed it was all salt. When I complained about it at the check out, the cook was right there because the kitchen is behind the bar where the checkout is at--the cook said to me "whatever" then I asked her did you just say "whatever?" She goes "ya, what are you gonna do about it?" I asked for the manager several times snd was completely ignored! I'm in disbelief!! Wow. Will NEVER go here again! My friend got the owner's number from another establishment and texted her about our experience and here was the owner's response (note, there was NO yelling whatsoever! In total shock...). Hi Robin, I'm out of town, and tried calling you but it went to voicemail. I'm so sorry the wait was long, and the food not good. The person your friend yelled at was just a line cook, btw. While she was in the kitchen, buried in tickets. She yelled so loudly that I actually had not one but two other customers call me while it was going on. Having done this for a while now, I usually tend to side with customers when things like this happen. That said, I also have zero patience for yelling and disrespect, from anyone. Especially during a national labor shortage and when everyone in the food industry is just trying to do their best. I've had the Philly cheesesteak, the ahi tower the chicken salad wrap( not enough chicken salad in it) onion rings( one time perfect next time burnt) the loaded fries( fries were could couldn't melt the cheese that gravy was nice though) staff is great have a decent beer selection on tap definitely could add more taps. I want to love this place but the inconsistency in the food leaves me weary. I'm hoping it will get better my next visit or I'll have to pass on this place which is sad. read more

It was a really cute place but we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. By the time we got it it was cold. Adding on, the entire time we were waiting they didn't even bother to refill our drinks. There didn't seem to be much urgency from anyone. To start off with our waiter was a very kind young man and extremely respectful - as I walk with a cane and I am a little handicapped. He was a tall thin young man and I wish I knew his name to give him kudos! My bacon cheeseburger with avocado was really delicious and enjoyed the spicy mayo. However I thought that $19 was a bit much to pay especially since I hardly had any french fries on my platter! First: This establishment is under new management, ownership or something as a new concept and it has great potential to be an awesome spot in Mt. Vernon. Our experience tonight was very so-so with a great main server, a very rude piss-poor attitude server attempting to 'help', items being out of stock and an akward dynamic between all the staff. We started by sitting down and three beers we tried to get were out of stock. Not a huge deal, but it made a first impression. Appetizers came out extremely fast (almost too fast). First item we tried to order: mozzarella sticks, out of stock. But the pretzel bites themselves are great, paired with an industrial tasting cheese sauce. The pork eggrolls are good. Fried pickles are good. Dinner came quickly too (kitchen was on top of it). Burger is a smash burger that was juicy and had good flavor, the bun was a slightly big for a 1/4# burger. Chicken tenders are really great, and the jalapeno gravy that comes with them is also very good. Southern cobb salad was standard. Chicken fried chicken was great, mac n cheese and mashed potatoes also good. Didn't have room for dessert. Our server (a short haired brunette lady, younger) we believe was Cindy and she was great. Super friendly, kind, respectful and had a smile the entire time. Downfalls of the new concept: There was an old lady with shorter dirty blonde hair wearing glasses working the bar and some other tables that had a terrible piss-poor attitude for the evening. She clearly didn't want to be there working, and would run food to the table and auction it off with an attitude of "i don't have time to be doing this" and then just literally drop the tray on the table kind of in front if you. For two of our five items she didn't even know what was on the plate and gave more attitude when we asked if it was actually *this* (what we ordered) responding with, "yea, it could be that" as she placed it down on the table and I said I was surprised she didnt know the food coming out of the kitchen to which she walked away snarking, "i'm not your server!". Completely unnecessary. Clearly not cut out to work in the hospitality industry. She had one gentleman at the bar and two 2-tops she was handling while chatting it up in the bar area with other employees. The POS system is not very user friendly with mini handheld tablet-CC readers with a small screen. The staff might just need more training on them. But they didn't have a good way of marking the items in the mobile POS system that items were out of stock, causing our server to walk back & forth to find out if they had items or not (felt bad for this). The manager or owner (didn't introduce himself) was going around doing table touches and for our table he only came up and said, "hows that beer? Taste like a beer?". Then chuckled at himself as he walked off for thinking that was a good-one and an adequate table touch. Then proceeded to sit down at the front of the restaurant and ate dinner. Lastly, the staff just didn't seem to be communicating. One server would ask me if I wanted another beer, then the bar would tell them we were out, then they would find our server to tell her that she had to come up to me and tell me they didnt have it...? Two servers thought they both had our table at first, and there was no rhythm to the restaurants service but had plenty of food runners from a bunch of staff just walking around making faces at each other and joking. I get it, they were slow but ‍ Will probably try it again after a little while of being open, hoping for the best for them but some of the staff needs to fix their attitude IMO. But maybe that won't matter. I'm glad we had a great main server for our table, and the kitchen seemed to be on top of it tonight. Cheers. read more

The place was much bigger than anticipated which was good. It's also a boutique shop on the side which was very nice. The menu isn't very extensive but the few items it has are phenomenal. How amazing. This place is everything it is supposed to be and more. Well worth the 5 minutes off Hwy 30. Nostalgic, authentic, friendly, etc. Good variety for a one page menu. Food had good flavor and was delivered quickly and with a smile. Wife loved the hibiscus tea too. A super cool very big and extremely unique place and concept. They sell cool antique furniture, gifts and decor and they have a great cafe with room for private party events and outside completely covered seating facing the street. It is all combined in to one of the coolest set up buildings I've ever seen in a down town. Extremely high end finish out and it is a must see and experience place if you ever head east. Good food. Went in a Saturday night. Service was extremely slow due to a learning curve since only being open a week or so. The food was just okay. I had the salmon, it was semi flavorful. The wife had a salad with the jalapeño ranch dressing. The dressing was watered down. She said that it just made the salad not dry and added no flavor. The real kicker was the waiter that kept calling my wife "baby" "honey" and "sweetie pie". To me that is as disrespectful as you can be. After we paid our check we had to listen to a 5 minute explanation on why the service was so bad blaming everyone but himself. Maybe we'll go back after they get some things ironed out. But if we get the same waiter, we'll let's just say he won't call my wife "baby" but once. read more

Was there on Sunday early afternoon for lunch with a group of 4. Very simple to Park & Navigate the café. Two of us had Ahi Tuna Tower and Two had the burger - we all had wine. It was the best Ahi Tower I've ever had - lots of delicious tuna and seasoned perfectly! My group said the burgers were wonderful too and we all enjoyed the crepes for desert. My husband and I decided to try out the Bistro/Cafe at ML Edwards for the 1st time on Valentine's Day (when they are open Thursday evenings for Happy Hour) Altho not very busy, wait staff was nice and attentive, decor and atmosphere pleasant (kinda rustic/turn of the century mercantile store/Farmhouse) We ordered crispy egg rolls, (not pictured) they were good, fig & prosciutto crostini (very good but crostini/bread could have been toasted much more) and the street tacos sampler (tacos were good, put the pineapple salsa on them, they were a little dry) but would have expected homemade flour and/or Tortillas instead of dry store bought, it definitely would have elevated this dish. Since it was Valentine's Day, they served complimentary champagne and homemade chocolate cake, which was nice and the cake was very good! Did feel "house wine" was over priced for such small glasses. (Living in cities like Austin & Dallas, its nice to find a place like this with more quality menu items vs all the fast food and little restaurants that only serve fried, junky, processed, unhealthy food items in small towns) Overall, we both really enjoyed our evening and food. We'll definitely come back, love to try out the brunch items on a weekend too. read more
