There was a box of Mother's Day cards in the men's bathroom for anyone that may have forgotten. That was a thoughtful gesture. I have eaten at applebee's many times, but none have been as bad as this. we were seating at 11:53am, and it took 20 minutes for 4 drinks. At that point, we were straving after not eating all day and things got worse. People we seated maybe every 3 mins, and ALL got their food before us. now, it is 1:13pm and we just got our food. other people have already left while we are still waiting. The food tasted fine, but service was awful. The manager came out and told us how they only had two waiters working today, I turned and saw atleast 4 people taking orders. They said they would discount our order and take most of the money off. They took off $20, which left us with a $60 dollar meal to pay for. I decided to try this place one more time since it had been since 2013. Bad Idea I found out. I ordered the Oriental chicken salad that had grilled chicken and with 2 breadsticks and some fries. I ordered via doordash. The chicken tasted old, was very tough to cut, and didn't smell right so I trashed the chicken. I still had some salad but not much there. I had just enough salad to cover the bottom of the container, 4 bites and it was gone. The breadsticks were overcooked and reminded me of a hard pretzel. The fries were ok but not great. Over-cooked. Andrew- a new manager. decided he was going to yell at me, and then fire me after one of my tables talked to him about how he was treating me. i made ONE "mistake" and he yelled at me over that. and that's not the only time something like this has happened with management. they talk sht about ALL of their customers AND employees. they are the WORST people i've ever worked for. Less than 1 would be more appropriate! Came to Applebee's Sunday, Jan 22, 2022, for my son in laws' birthday. The Restaurant was maybe half full, we were seated, given menus and waiter left, came back later to take drink order, our party had only 4, we ordered a pop, a water, a beer and a cocktail, 25 minutes later "Cole" brought the water, pop, napkins and knives...NO FORKS...Still no beer or cocktail. Waited a long time for him to return, we asked about the other drinks, he replied, "the bartender is starting, " ....meaning..."What" ??? My son in law went to the bar to ask about the drinks, the bartender said, " I have no idea"....ooookay....(but she was doing dishes). Again, probably 10-15 minutes later, the bartender brought the drinks. He finally came to take our orders, waited probably 30 minutes for him to bring out TWO of our plates, still no forks, my husband had to go hunt down and get forks himself...the other two NEVER did get their food. I told the waiter the fries were barely warm when he set the two plates down and that I would appreciate a new order. ( Which were NEVER brought out. Another 15 minutes, the other two still had no food, drinks were long empty by now, and "Cole" was nowhere to be seen. When he did finally come back, he brought our bill, but still no food for the other two, no refill, and didn't even remotely apologize for the delay. Finally, I had had it! I took the ticket to him at the cash register and told him I would happily pay for the drinks and the "partial" meal since the fries were unfit to eat, he got shitty with me. I reiterated I was NOT paying $53.00 for 6 shrimp, 6 wings and 2 drinks, that I would be happy to pay for the meats as a side or appetizer. He basically laughed in my face. I then talked to who I'm assuming was a manager. She offered no solution. He then said he would be right back... then never returned, so I once again (3rd trip to the register) go to talk to him. Before I could say anything, he mumbled something to me, I asked him to repeat it, he said, "It's taken care of" I'm assuming he meant the bill, the problem, the experience...I have NO IDEA". I took my Mother for dinner. Nearly a thirty minute wait, then they tried to seat us (my mom is in her late 70's, sub five foot and carries oxygen) at a pub height table. After that, things improved. The worst experience my group of four have seen in our collective lives. Soft drinks came in just a few minutes. However after 20 minutes our beers had not arrived. We asked the waiter. He said we were waiting on the bartender, who we finally found waiting tables in the restaurant area. She went to the bar. We had to get up and go to the bar to ask for our drinks. She was washing glasses. I had to get up and find our forks. The waiter only got us knifes and he was nowhere to be found. Four people at our table. 2 of us got our food... part of it, the fries were room temperature. Never got replacements. Asked for more wings (all you can eat). Never got them. 1 of our party needed a soda refill. Had to ask other wait staff. Never got it! The other 2 people of our party NEVER got food at an hour and ten minutes in. We told them to cancel the rest of our order and we would pay for what was edible and what we drank. $54 for 8 wings, 8 shrimp, 1 Dr. Pepper with no refill, 1 beer and 1 margarita. NO! Bullcrap! Argued again. Waiter took off and left us sit while avoiding our table. My wife finally went to the register and asked again. The little manager type girl said it had been taken care of. Despite my previous bad experience I've been back multiple times since then! Things have improved greatly! Truly love this place now. Service is always good and the food for the most part has been great. I'm sitting here now and it's Christmas Day, a little wait for seating but we have a party of 10 so I was expecting that. After we got seated things were great. Appetizers came out quick and were great. Food came out quickly and was also very good. The way they worked with our large party was excellent! What can you say, it's your typical chain restaurant. The primary issue with this restaurant is consistency. You may go in one week and the food taste a certain way Hill in the next week and order the exact same thing and it taste different. I had lunch today, a grilled chicken Caesar salad. 1, the chicken was rubbery, they didn't put any cheese on it(I mean none) and 3 croutons. It was almost like they were running low on supplies and instead of just saying they are out of something, they try to stretch it out while ruining a salad. How do you ruin a salad?!?? Came here again tonight and got here just about 5:15. They had several people waiting to be seated. I overheard the hostess tell the couple in front of me it was about a 20 minute wait. That didn't impact me as I was going to the bar anyway. But, as I walked through the main floor, there were 4 tables/booths that were empty. They were clean and ready to be used, but not used and a 20 minute wait. Sat at the bar and ordered dinner. Came pretty fast. Ordered a burger and fries. The fries were cold and looked like they came from the bottom of the bag, you know, basically tiny pieces. I also ordered a perfect patron margarita. I don't know what they did, but it was so intensely sweet, it was almost intolerable. I love tequila, especially good tequila, but they ruined this. How hard is it to follow a recipe? Finally, my server was Kelsey (according to the check). She took my order, but did not bring any of my food or drinks to me. She also delivered my check. She also didn't take away my menu nor did she clear my plates. She did ask if I was ready for my check. I said thank you to her 3 times...once upon taking my order, once upon asking if I was ready for my check and finally after she gave me my check. Like a typical chain restaurant, Applebee's is pretty average in the scheme of things. The food is good but not excellent. The same pretty much goes for the staff and atmosphere. I will say that their burgers are above average in the taste department for the area. Their steaks are also pretty decent, one of the better steaks I've had in Vincennes. However, with the steaks I find that they tend to over-cook them by about one degree of doneness. I hate well-done steak, do I usually end up ordering medium-rare and end up getting a medium, which is what I actually want. If you order your steak medium you'll get well-done. That's just of waste of steak. Not bad, not excellent, but one of the better options for family dining in Vincennes. read more

When we dine in, the service is excellent. Everyone is very friendly and attentive, and I mentioned a few times ow great our waiters were to their manager. he food was well prepared, and had great experiences. However, if you call curbside to go, expect your order to be wrong, and or things missing. We ave ordered at least 6 times, and of those 6, 5 times, they had major errors, forgetting food, sending the wrong food, or it wasn't anywhere near the quality if you dine in. They they have a nice variety of food, and most taste good, but being disabled, we take out a lot, so I am disappointed when the food arrives. Things I really like: The breakfast/brunch burger, without the hash browns, and add sauteed onions, spinach artichoke dip is amazing, and I really enjoy their baby back ribs. They also have very good tortilla soup. Things that need improvement: Chicken quesadilla appetizer..They skimp so much, that half of the quesadilla is just tortilla, with no filling. We go to this Applebee's probably once a month. Every time we go there the hostesses seem to think we are invisible. We will wait in front of the host booth and they will be looking at their seating chart for at least 3 minutes before they acknowledge us, even if there is no one else in the waiting area! Now we wanted med. we have learned that if we order a steak anywhere but a steakhouse and want it med we have to order med rare. If we order med it comes out well. Showed up at a very off time so figured we would have good service due to no other to be waited on. I ordered a steak rare with garlic potatoes. My steak was brought out way over done and the potatoes were not garlic at all and were filled with bacon? I finished my first soda before the food arrived and the waitress who returned with our food stated she'd bring me out another and did not return with it until we had all finished eating with our bill! Our softball team just had to go here because we all love the endless soup and salad deals. On this particular trip I also had my 5 year old son with me. I have to admit that often times its a little hard to enjoy my girl time while also having kids with me but at this location the wait staff was so attentive to him and it made a huge difference for me.
