I've always said that clutter is the Devil's confetti. And while I hate the Devil, I also hate to organize. It's so daunting. You go through the well-intended mental struggle of...Where do I start?, I dunno, so like, I shouldn't start at all, and then 5 months later, it's like a comic strip cartoon where the person is lying on the floor buried underneath a avalanche of clutter that's fallen out of the closet when the cartoon animal opens the door.... These sorts of things. Well, finally, I got a job that basically said to me: Whatever you need to do, do it. Ummmm, green light. My first call was to The Container Store. Amelia answered the call and within 2 weeks, I had new closet structures, and Amelia and her gorgeous friend whose name I for the life of me can't remember, and they were here and sleeves-up-excited and ready to organize a 12' x 12' room of literal, actual, complete and total chaos. Several hours later, my clutter wasn't just organized, it was IMMACULATE. And, honestly, not my first rodeo, I know clean when I see it, and I'm dubious of anyone who asserts having my same idea of clean. But then they said "Can we show you what we did?" and I walked around with them, and it was like, whaaaaaaat just happened? It was amazing. I can't just see the floor in my new closets, I can see everything I own, and I can see empty space to accumulate more junk as we're wont to do. I'm amazed, I'm happy, I feel purged and 10 pounds lighter and a couple shades tanner or something. Amelia and her girl offered some more suggestions after having seen what I have and what space was left, and I was like, sure, whatever you wanna do, you can do it. They could've told me they wanted to hang a chandelier and install a washing machine, and I would've been like, uh, yeah, if it fits, go for it. Honestly, I'm the happiest. I pride myself on always knowing a guy...whatever you need done, I've got a phone number and someone who's top-of-the-line to do it. Now I have closet organizers. I love Amelia and I am a huge fan of Appleshine!! She has helped me begin to transform my apartment from a disorganized, uncomfortable mess into a living space my husband and I are proud of. My biggest challenge in our small, east village apartment is not knowing where to put anything. Appleshine was fantastic! I had a four-hour session with Amelia to tackle a catch-all office/guestroom that had basically become a room of piles. I had my doubts about how much we could get done with four hours and without buying additional storage, but boy was I wrong! We tackled the room together, but Amelia was able to keep moving forward when I had to take a break to take care of other things, and we finished the entire space in 3.5 hours. Amelia worked creatively with what I had so that I didn't have to buy anything extra for storage and when we finished the room, we spent the last half hour organizing the entryway. Amelia was an absolute pleasure to spend 4 hours with. Sweet and calm, but really kept things moving and made sure we didn't lose focus. I consider myself an organized person, but I really could never have accomplished this on my own in such a short time. This was money very well spent, particularly because of the time it saved me and because of the money I didn't waste on unnecessary additional storage. Amelia is absolutely wonderful, and simply put...she transformed my home. It is so much more fun coming back to my apartment with its new sense of order and simplicity. Amelia is a coach and a cheerleader as she gently guides you through the sometimes daunting process of figuring out what you want to keep and want to let go of. Then she helps you put what you keep in an order that lets you make best use of what you have. Amelia is an extremely upbeat and positive person with a winning smile, so that whenever the process feels overwhelming, she is able to keep you going. I can't write enough positive things about Amelia and Appleshine. I have a great apartment, but after five years of living in it as a single guy with a lot of stuff, I felt like it was suffering from all its clutter. At my apartment this past weekend, Amelia came face to face with disaster.
