We have had Brooks do several floors in our house now and are very happy with his work! (Details on…read morethe projects below.) Brooks is a perfectionist who does beautiful and meticulous work. He does all the work himself so you know you can trust the project will be done well. He is also easy to work with, reliable, and charges very reasonable rates. We will definitely be hiring Brooks again for other floor projects in our house! We recently bought an old home in Pittsburgh (built in 1895) and have had Brooks rehab and refinish the floors in several rooms so far. He was able to hand sand and remove stains on the original parquet floor in the dining room which other floor specialists told us would not come out. When we bought the house, the landing of the staircase was unstained oak while the stairs and surrounding wainscoting were stained dark. Brooks was able to stain the landing to match the wood around it with exceptional precision. He was also able to disguise a few very unfortunate gouges in our living room floor that were made by the movers (we had JUST had Brooks redo this floor prior to moving in so were very disappointed about the damage caused by the movers). We were very happy Brooks could fix it!

I was a little particular about the floor color because it was the first floor I could actually pick the color, for the most part. Our beautiful oak floors were amazing once they were sanded and stripped and I wanted to keep them as close to original as possible; which isn't. Jim went out of his way to apply samples more than once, to have a phone conversation with me about the differences in water and oil based products and to find the product I wanted all the way in Cleveland. Now this man has some pull... the supplier drove it to him when the Fedex deadline was missed, just so I could have my floors finished on time! Now that is service. His prices were excellent and mother nature dealt us a blow on the expected start date, but he finished in the week he said he would, was very communicative and kind and really helped me understand a bit more of the process. He also worked with us on the new cost of the stain since I changed it up a bit. Jim, many thanks to you, I love my floors and very happy I picked the semi-gloss. I can't wait to be done with the remodel so I can clean them and have them nice and shiny again. I will always recommend them.

I hired them to refinish the wood on our staircase…read moreand they assured me that they had lots of experience and that the staircase would turn out beautifully. Right away it seemed that they had little experience when it came time to help me select a stain color that would coordinate with my wood floor. They were also thrown off when, after removing the carpet, it was discovered that there were several types of wood that had been used on the stairs. Every time an obstacle was encountered, they seemed surprised, saying they hadn't experienced it before. They also did not put any protection down on my wood floor and, after I politely pointed out that the staples from the carpet removal process were scratching it, they offered to put down protection on the floor. However, after viewing the final product photos that I sent to them, even they admitted that the end result was blotchy and not a good one. The finish was also rough to the touch. They were in a rush to get to their next job and had applied one coat of stain and two coats of polyurethane in a few hours. I had to reach out several times to get a response to my concern over the poor results and was told that there would be an additional charge for them to come out again to try and fix it. I still can 't believe it! They didn't even want to come and see the results for themselves and possibly learn what they could do differently next time for a future customer. I trusted them and had made the mistake of paying them in full right away. They had their money and just didn't care enough to make the time and effort to stand by their work or to admit that they just haven't had enough experience to understand and fix the problem.

I had no idea what to do and as I was driving to work the next day the Rock Doc truck drove by me on the highway! I reached out immediately and heard back from them the same day. I sent pictures, they determined they could help, and within a week's time we had scheduled my service appointment. The work they did was spectacular! My table looks fabulous. I was really impressed with, the care they took in my home, covering their shoes, putting down, tarps, etc. I would use this company again and again and again given the opportunity.
