We had hoped to be able to lift the whole thing a few inches, but had no idea how. Enter Eliot from Applicare. He pondered the situation, consulted a printout of the manufacturer's docs, and discussed with us. The conclusion was that we could probably just eliminate the canopy and retain the key functionality of the hood. 90 minutes of hard work ensued, mostly by him, but ably assisted by my wife and (occasionally) me, and it was done! The charge was entirely reasonable, and we'd be happy to engage him again. And he's a character!

The story: After calling GE repair and hearing that I'd have to wait a week for a service call that would unlock the oven door on my GE Profile. I was not happy, I called A to Z and left a message. Within minutes, I got a call back. Within two hours Simcha was at my door. He listened carefully to my recounting of what happen and what I did to attempt a fix. Then he went to work. Soon he had my oven door off and the innards of the range top exposed. He explained that a motor was likely burnt out and a control board might be as well. He suggested a plan - order both, replace the motor only,(a less expensive part) then test it. If it works - her returns the control board (much more expensive,) and if the motor doesn't fit the prolbem, there's no additional wait. We made a plan - but then he found out the motor was not stocked by his supplier, he ordered it and put the Profile back together so that I could use the oven and stove - but no self cleaning till the new motor. He gave me all the pricing for the two options. He also pointed out that the self-lean had partially melted the with that activated the oven light when the door is opened. He had looked up the part had had a price for me on that as well.I was very surprised how low the options were after all the time he had put in. I approved the added work, Simcha called later to tell me he had found a new supplier who had them in stock. Two days later he was back. Replaced the motor, replaced the light - problem solved! Paid via Chase Quick pay. As good as it gets.

The technician found the problem Immediately, The switch on the door that shuts off the spinning was broken and needed to be replaced. 5 minutes later a new switch was Put in and the drier was working. And then came the shock when I was presented with the bill for $330.00 after the $129.00 service charge was deducted. What a chutzpah. In three weeks, I noticed a burning smell from the microwave for more than a day even after stop using it. I immediately reported to LG services and they connected with this company They sent out a guy (Manny) and he diagnosed that it needs replacement of a part and told me that he will return with a new part. Two days after, the company sent another guy (Santos) and he asked me to explain what's the issue as if he never heard the previous report. Then, he heated a half cup of water for one minute (after several days of power disconnected, cooled-off) and concluded there is no issue. Ironically, he said it's SAFE to use it, but he DISCONNECTED the power cord when he left. I requested the company to send me copies of the two original reports from both technicians, but they haven't done so and submitted to LG only the first report. The Company representative said EVEN IF any fire took place, the company has no responsibility for it because it was FINE when the second guy tested. It seems like their goal is to get paid from LG. They received the compensation for their services from LG.
