I was on vacation in New York, and having grabbed my wife's AirSense11 by mistake instead of mine, I realized I had forgotten to pack the power supply. I called Apria and they sent me to the Elmsford location, 40 miles from our hotel. I was in the waiting area with another client when the representative walked in. I explained my situation, showed them the machine and they said that the sticker on the bottom came from a different company and they wouldn't help me. I told them to look up my account to see that I used the same exact machine, and that I had spent a hellish night sleeping without it and that we were there for six more days. I begged them to lend or sell me a power supply. They refused. I offered them $100. "No". I offered them $200. They said no. I told them I would die without the machine and they said, "no, you're not going to die." At this point, I'm pleading with them to lend me a power supply and they're refusing. Finally, the other person in the waiting room offered to go home and bring me his. At this point they finally relented and brought one out, but told me I had to physically bring it back after I told them I would overnight it to them when I got home. "No, you have to bring it back here because it could get lost." I told them that we would be on the road for two more nights after leaving NY, "No, you have to bring it here." So, after debasing myself begging and pleading for an hour, I finally got the part and we went back to the hotel. My wife suggested seeing if we could get one on Amazon. Sure enough, they had one with same day delivery for $20. I got it that night and the next day, we took the 80 mile round trip to Elmsford. I told them how I was angry that they had reduced me to degrading and humiliating myself by begging and pleading over a $20 part, and I barely got an apology. If this is how Apria treats their patients who rely on them to keep breathing, I'm done with them. A healthcare company is supposed to help their clients, not demean, debase, humiliate them and rob them of their dignity by making them beg for $20 part. The Elmsford office is rotten to the core. The staff, at the very least, needs sensitivity training, or at best, needs to be replaced by more care-forward staff. read more

I've been getting my CPAP supplies from Apria for quite a few years. Recently I received a new machine. With the machine they sent me a mask. I did not order the mask and it was not the mask I used. I called them last Friday to let them know it was the wrong mask. After transferring my call a couple of times, I was told someone from supplies would call me in a little while. I never received a call. On Tuesday, I called again. Once again I was given the runaround. Then I was told I could not return the mask and would have to pay for it. I'm currently waiting to here from my doctor to see if I can change where I get my supplies. This is a terribly run company. read more

This is the worst company ever. I have a serious condition and I'm waiting two weeks now for them to come to my house and assess my situation and check on the ventilator they gave me. They tell you they will schedule an appointment but they don't. When you call them and ask them what happened, they say, "Oh, I thought you were going to call me." Even speaking with the supervisor, which I have done twice now, does not seem to help. I have never had an issue like this with a health care professional. This company is the worst! The management from top to bottom is non existent. They have employees like Michelle Cardona running the office and she is so lazy that she doesn't even watch the people on the phones. Customers call to speak to a supervisor and she rudely hangs up on them. She also doesn't have a drivers license... She drives some patients home without a drivers license. She also drags her feet when she walks and always has her husband over with the kids and the office serves as a daycare. The equipment they provide the seniors is pretty solid and quality but the quality of customer service in the office is substandard. read more

We've had one problem after another with Apria. My wife ordered a CPAP machine from Apria in March 2023. Under our agreement, Apria was to bill $51 a month for 12 months, after which time we would own the machine. Apria billed our insurance company. At the same time, Apria billed us our estimated cost sharing (deductible and coinsurance) while awaiting insurance payments. The insurance payments did not match Apria's estimate and they billed us for the difference. Unfortunately Apria's billing statements do not show what the insurance company paid them - only what we paid them vs. what they thought we owed them. The amount in dispute was small - only $25. Apria's phone representatives were unable to provide any information about what our insurance company paid them. It was a total time suck. We wrote Apria twice, providing them a detailed spreadsheet showing what our insurance company paid them, what we paid them and what we thought the balance owed should be. Apria ignored our communication and sent the unpaid balance out to a collection agency. Our communication also provided Apria with information for them to bill our new insurance company (which changed in 2024). Apria ignored the information and when the bills (for the last two months of 2024) were denied by the old insurance company, Apria scheduled us to have the CPAP machine returned (without even giving us an opportunity to pay the 2024 bills or have the insurance corrected). We called Apria and told them we did not want to return the machine. Cancel the pickup. Do you think Apria listened? No! Someone from Apria showed up anyway to try to pick up the machine. Bottom line: If you have a choice, look for a more responsive, customer friendly company. read more

Might I gently suggest some basic sensitivity training for the employees that are sent to the homes of grieving families to collect medical equipment? I'm not asking for hugs and lollipops. But to show up at my house unannounced, without a word as to why they're here except 'Apria', while I'm obviously still in mourning is unacceptable. Then to stand in my livingroom staring at all the pictures and memorabilia from the recent memorial service while I struggle to gather all of the parts of the equipment that I was not prepared to return yet until I beg for help, is inhumane. My asking for help was NOT an invitation to unplug every cord in my dead mother's bedroom asking *me* which adapters are theirs! If I knew I wouldn't have asked for help! After all of that, I said I assumed he was aware that the patient is deceased (because the apria employee had yet to even acknowledge that fact)..."oh, yeah. Sign and date here. Sorry for your loss. Can you hold the door for me?" I'm sure this employee encounters disgruntled clients and families on a regular basis, and that can't be easy for him. I'm also confident that if he were trained to feign a minimum amount of compassion for the people he interacts with, these experiences would be totally different both for him and the clients/families. read more

First they send equipment with booklet instructions and no personal touch. For 6 weeks I struggled with the c-pap equipment. I finally found a place to have the equipment demonstrated. He told me I had the wrong tubing and mask. Now how would I have known that! Make a long story short I went over to Brevia and they were so helpful. read more

This is the worst company EVER... terrible condescending customer service representatives... billed my insurance on a return order... my experience with them has been the worst... they originally sent me a refurbished cpap machine while charging my insurance for a new one. They charged for a brand and sent generic tubing. The quality of care is subpar if I could've given zero stars I would. How long does it take to get a CPAP machine from Apria - I've been trying since April 2022, told its a 8 to 12 week waiting period. Ok. Called at 12 weeks to the day, told my prescription wasn't valid because I never responded to their phone calls. Didn't receive one call from Apria. I wanted to go with another company but Apria was my only option for insurance coverage. So I tried again June 2022. Sept 2022 checked in with Apria - my order wasn't reinstated. All the paperwork, signatures everything needed but wasn't put in the system. In 6-8 weeks we'll see. The answer would be eight months. I'm not holding my breath. Other comments dismay me to the future of issues that lie ahead with billing. Hopefully I'll be well rested though. read more

Terrible company. Products are good. But billing is absolutely in the 19th century. Even if you have insurance, they bill you personally before they even put your order together. How difficult can it be to order a knee walker using my insurance? Nearly impossible with this company. I'm at my wit's end. Instead of them helping me all I get is why they CAN'T!!! Which is it? Then you tried to sneak and say I'm not eligible because I had my surgery at an out of network surgery center; that is incorrect as well. My doctor's office told me this morning that they have confirmed receipt that the materials have been faxed to your Elmsford office at the 914.592.1410 number. No you can't find the paperwork. For crying out loud! We are going to refax it again to another fax number, supposedly the supervisor's, 949-356-4668. Look I get it, your job is difficult at times. But I'm setting her hobbling around waiting on DAY 3 now to get a walker. The constant runaround is rude and extremely upsetting. And yes, I am freakin' hot like a fresh batch of fish grease! This company is horrible and totally incompetent. It took me three months to receive my CPAP re-supplies. I ordered my suppliers in early June and when I checked the order status after two weeks, they told me there was no order in their system. Two weeks after placing my order a second time, they lost it again. After placing my order for the third time, they told me my order was on hold because they didn't have the necessary documents from my sleep Doctor. When contacting my sleep Doctor, he said they had sent those documents weeks before. After another three weeks, Apria told me they had cancelled my order because they didn't have the necessary documents. One week later, they told me they found the documents and would no fill my order. Guess what? They send me the wrong mask and wrong supplies. So, then I called again and placed my order for the correct mask. Guess what? They sent the correct mask but the wrong size mask! Finally, three weeks later, they sent the correct supplies. And one week after that, they finally sent me an email with a UPS call tag to return the wrong size mask, but alas, the UPS shipping label filled up an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. When I called today to ask them to resize it, they said they can't do it. The customer service rep suggested I look online for a method to resize the label myself! She then said can't I ask a friend to help! Finally, she suggested I take the file to a courier and ask them to resize it. Of course, she also told me I would probably have to pay a fee to have them resize it, which they would not reimburse! You just can't make this stuff up. Sleep Doctors beware!!! I guess they were able to match my name with my customer file. This should tell you all you need to know about how Apria functions as a corporation; managing their reputation on social media takes precedence over having functioning, capable customer service. This seems about as backwards as can be; if customers were able to connect to a representative who had the training to quickly answer your questions or were able to connect you with someone who could, there would be no need to take to social media in order to get your concerns dealt with. read more

My experience with this company has been God Awful. I basically had a week-long horror show trying to deal with their overseas call center. During which I took the opportunity to assess the call operators knowledge of HIPAA.Patient Privacy regulations in the United States. Neither could accurately state was HIPAA was. I asked what was their obligation to protect my information was. They had no answer. I would think that as a Joint Commission Accreditated organization Apria would be concerned about that. Terrible company to work. The local 914 number forwards the customer to an international call center where there is a break in communication between the call center and the actual clinic. Every time the call center said they needed more information to process my order, they would not contact my Dr's office to communicate what information was actually missing. My Dr had to forward my information to them 2-3 times to get my order processed and this alone took 2-3 weeks. I was told they deliver equipment, but they actually don't. I was not informed when my order was ready to pick and my order was already waiting for me at the local office for about two days (mind you, this company is about 7 mins driving from my home). I picked up my order and as soon as I tried to use it on the first day, knee scooter, it was damaged. The maintenance service that Apria has is great, except they do not provide the customer with a timeline as to when they might show up to the home. The ones who scheduled this "at home" service is the international call center and they cannot tell the customer when the driver will show up. The driver showed up to my home with no warning, so I was not home. I was 1 mile away running an errand. I explained to the driver that I would stop what I was doing and rush back to my home to get this item fixed but he insisted he would not wait for me because it was company policy to continue with deliveries. I asked why there was no courtesy call and he said that he was not responsible for calling customers. He stated the system in place was what the company had set up. I asked that if he came to my home the next day, would he know what time frame so I or my wife could be home, and he said no. (So this is obviously a problem that they do not intend to fix) Hours later, my wife called the 914 (international number) and they told my wife that the delivery man would return to our home on the same day. At approximately 4pm we received no call or notice from Apria so we went to the local office to get the equipment looked at and they said the equipment was not fixable and they would order another knee scooter, it was supposed to arrive in 2 days (express order). 2 days later, per the guidance of the local Apria office, I call the 914 number again, and the scooter is on back order (according to the international number). This company is terrible. Good luck if you have to work with them, because it is a shame that there is this little of an effort to help the consumer. Shame on those who represent the company in this manner, with this much empathy towards the consumer. read more

Their billing department is incompetent. Calls my house regularly. When I speak to them I ask them did you read the notes from the previous caller and they respond no. When they then read it they say, oh this issue was addressed previously but account was not updated and they will update account. They then call 2 weeks later and cycle begins anew. When I return their calls they keep me on the call at least 25 minutes to review the notes only to tell me the same thing again, that the account will be cleared. And now the cincher, I get a letter from a collection agency for the charge that supposedly cleared 5 times, which of course I disputed. Customer service called again to tell me that because my account is delinquent, no more supplies. They are the pits. It would be nice to have someone to speak to not in a Southeast Asia call center. read more

I got a package today with no bill. When I try to call, they can't find my information in the computer, they are giving me the run around. My pulse oximeter readings were low enough to send me to the hospital, and this company delivered an oxygen tank and oxygen machine to my house before I arrived home (they left it with my mom). I've tried calling Apria a dozen times and the billing department is beyond clueless. Do not utilize Apria for anything. They are not worth the aggravation and stress. Do NOT use this company. My husband has had a CPAP for years and despite many calls, and many times on the phone with insurance and with Apria, they keep automatically billing us for a charge we are not responsible for, as we have been told by our insurance company. At least three separate representatives from Apria have told my husband they removed his credit card information and yet we keep getting charged. This is a completely clueless company. They have caused my husband undo stress over the last year and I resent them terribly. On top of everything else, and in the midst of all this, we got a call from a total stranger who informed us that Apria had mailed him my husbands paperwork with his private information on it. If the stranger hadn't had the decency to call us, (he had our number and other information) we'd have never known that Apria sent my husbands PRIVATE information to a total stranger. After reading his negative Yelp review, Apria actually contacted my husband over this egregious breech of privacy. Yet despite all of this, adding insult to substantial injury and stress they've caused this family, they can't get the issue with continually charging us in error correct. They just charged us again today, despite telling my husband many times they'd removed his Credit card information. The state of health "care" in this country is abysmal, and it's because, in part, of rotten companies like this. Every worker is polite, every time, and yet issues never, ever get resolved. No one knows what to do. This is a problem of upper management, of profits over people. Do not use Apria. DO NOT. They're rotten to the core and they don't actually care how much stress they cause their customers, many of them ill, who turn to them for their healthcare needs. Shame. read more

I agree with all below. I have been trying for 8 MONTHS to get my issue resolved. They say "your CPAP is paid for, it's yours." Then they send me a bill for 750. Then when I call they say "your CPAP is paid for." Then they send me a bill for 750. Then they say, "one hand doesn't know what the other is doing here sometimes, just ignore the bill." THEN I get a notice from a COLLECTION AGENCY. My doctor, who prescribed the device has plenty of patients with similar problems, and his advice was to sue them. My doctor, the one who works with them on a daily basis! He says "that's the only way to get their attention." Talked to my lawyer. Apparently, you can't sue for incompetence ; ) However, I've been taping all conversations with them for the last 3 months now, assuming what they tell me will be false, and so I'll have evidence if needed. The hard part is getting someone new, and having to explain the whole thing again. I'm considering just sending each new agent a tape recording of the LAST agent! I'm in double digits now on phone calls, similar amount on email, with no resolution in sight. My issue could be solved in a single day, with one phone call. Btw, Google them. Read about the 40 MILLION dollar settlement for fraud they've just paid the government. And why does my doctor still use them? He says "pick your poison, they are all bad!" The representative impressed me with her knowledge and made me feel like a valued customer. Essentially it was the total opposite of the various difficulties I based my earlier review on. I was dreading having to make the call fo but it was like dealing with a completely different outfit and it was actually a pleasant experience. 3/20/19 - OK, that was premature. I just learned my supples went to an address I specifically told them not to use because I would not be there. My husband got sick and we needed oxygen at home. I was lucky enough to get the help from this bright, kind and compassionate person. Apria is the worst of the worst. This is my THIRD review of this horrible company. I just received a Medicare order and again it was screwed up. I was supposed to get 2 additional cushions and they sent me 1. I will now report them to Medicare. They have no business being in any kind of business. I think that this is the worst company I have ever dealt with and they outsource to another company making is worse. Do youself a favor and tell your doctor you want another company not APRIA for your supplies. If not be warned - you will be sorry. Unreliable and unprofessional to say the very least! I suffer from Episodic Cluster Headaches, an extremely painful neurological condition, not a headache at all - these are NOT like migraines at all, far more painful! For those who are Episodic like me, they come in cycles. My cycles usually last a little over a month. I get hit with attacks filled with excruciating pain multiple times a day until my cycle is finally over. There is not cure or medication for Cluster Headaches at this time but Oxygen Therapy is the number one treatment to REDUCE the excruciating pain. For over a month Apria gave me and my Neurologist office the run around; providing us with different information. My Neurologist faxed their requested information, prescription, clinical documentation, insurance, demographics to them multiple times and would get verbal confirmation of retrieval, they would tell my doctor they were "working on it", but when we would call back to follow up they would say they didn't have the information.. This went on for over a month!!!! Due to the debilitating pain, it was difficult for me to be proactive in following up with them. I highly recommend you DO NOT use this agency as an oxygen provider especially if you have Cluster Headaches, you just might die waiting for them to actually do something right! Highly disappointed, I will take this issue to the higher ups for sure!! read more

I had excellent, professional and timely care from Gene Santiago on June 7, 2018 being fitted for a CPAP. I anticipated the worst, having read the reviews up to that point, but my service was one of the best I have ever experienced. It was easy to find with my GPS. It started on time. Michelle ushered my in in a timely manner. Gene Santiago saw me within 3 minutes and explained a complicated matter very well and in a clear manner. When I got home it was easy to set up my CPAP and operate it. I have Gene's mobile number in case I get in trouble. I am very happy with my service. read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would. The experience has been nothing but horrifying. Today my father's O2 concentrator stopped working. 4 hours later and AFTER finding out a breast pump was a higher priority delivery over a need for oxygen I am just livid. I start CPAP therapy a year ago. I signed up for the replacement supplies every 3-6 months. So far I haven't received on a regular basis. Numerous phone calls to the supplier (which I understand has been outsourced to another company and reported by the staff at Apria it's horrific). I still haven't received my supplies. This company is from "Hunger". They can't get their act together. I will never use them again and I strongly recommend any one and everyone to stay away from them!!!!! It's virtually impossible to speak with a supervisor on the phone. I am soooooo frustrated dealing with them. I GIVE UP!!! I'm going to find another company that will give me better CPAP service, which shouldn't be hard if they want my Business. read more
