The CNA's are wonderful but there is a lack of communication between the nurses and patient. What they say they offer and what you get doesn't match. If you ring the bell they are slow to respond. If you fall out of bed at night you are SOL. The nurse Sheryl said Tylenol was an Nsaid. I questioned Sheryl's competency since she had to use Professor Google to find out Tylenol is an analgesic and not a Nsaid. And they have her giving out medication. The nurse Eric refused to give my sister a cancer patient pain medication. His reason was it wasn't documented that she was given any pain medication. I don't know whose chart he was reading. Nurse practitioner Diya and RN Anna sitting in the same office and will give you different information regarding the same patient. I questioned their lack of urgency when I told them my sister needed to go to ER for a blood transfusion when her hemoglobin was under 7. They want to repeat labs. First time her hemoglobin dropped, the tech from Northwell never showed up to repeat lab. When they finally sent my sister to the ER, her hemoglobin was 5.8. I requested certain blood work to be taken weekly and faxed to the oncologist. That was never done. The food is lacking. They give you a menu and they give you what you did not select. My sister can't eat corn. They gave her corn. She does't eat carrots, they gave her carrots. The dietician said you cant have Raisin Bran because of the Phosphorus and they would give her Raisin Bran Cereal. The dietician said you need protein since you are on dialysis. Her lunch one day was peas, carrots and bread. I had to ask where was the protein. Candace said you have use their medical supplies because they would order it. They sporadically provided supplies. I had to make sure my sister had her own medical supplies. The nurse cut her with scissors while changing her bandage because she wanted to dress the wound her way instead of listening to how we change the dressing. Anna said my sister didnt look like she was pain because she was looking at her phone. When you go for dialysis, you take a notebook with you that the dialysis center onsite is suppose to update. When you return from dialysis you give the notebook to the nurse. NO ONE reads it. Novi and Grace said that Rogisin the dialysis center doesnt update Methodist with the results of any blood work they do. Candace told me the opposite and Rogisin updates the notebook. From what I saw, the nurses don't read it. We finally decided not to send my sister back there after she was hospitalized a 3rd time. Her hemoglobin was 4 when she finally went to the ER because no tech showed up take her blood. We felt that under their care my sister would DECLINE OR DIE. Two weeks after she came home, Rachel from the dialysis center called me to see how she was doing. They didnt know my sister refused to go back there and came home. I found that strange because Miguel and Elizabeth from Methodist knew my sister refused to return. But again, there is a lack of communication amongst them. Yesterday, I received a certified letter from them with a NOTICE OF DISCHARGE/TRANSFER with inaccurate info. It should have said patient no longer felt safe with the lack of care. Since my sister is home and doing outpatient dialysis elsewhere, her numbers are monitored. The new dialysis center communicate with my sister and her doctors. I haven't had any issues with her new treatment plan at the new place.

While her first two stays had their challenges, nothing could have prepared our family for what happened during her final admission. The quality of care appears to deteriorate the higher up in the building patients were placed.There were many days when patients sat lined up in wheelchairs along the hallway for hours with little interaction, stimulation, or engagement. My mother-in-law was still mentally aware enough to express how much she hated sitting there, staring at a wall, waiting for someone to acknowledge her. One of my greatest concerns was the lack of basic nursing care. We were told she needed to be repositioned every four hours to prevent pressure ulcers. Despite those instructions, she developed severe bedsores that became so painful she cried every time staff cleaned them. Family members visited every single day for at least four hours and never once witnessed anyone repositioning her. More often than not, my daughter repositioned her, herself because she couldn't bear to see how uncomfortable she was. Her water pitcher was often filled only once each day, leaving her with warm water for hours. There were multiple occasions when she called us on her cell phone from her room because no one would answer her call light. We then had to call the front desk to get someone to check on her. Our family handled all of her laundry ourselves. Every week we brought her clothes home, washed them, and returned them. Yet one week we arrived to discover every piece of her clothing had disappeared. Nearly eight months after her passing, no one has ever explained what happened to her belongings. Perhaps the most upsetting experience involved the financial department. When her insurance benefits were exhausted, we fully understood there would be financial responsibility for her continued stay. What we did not expect was for staff to approach my mother-in-law directly and have her sign paperwork involving her pension and Social Security benefits instead of discussing those matters with our family. By that point in her illness, her cognitive status fluctuated because her failing heart was no longer providing adequate oxygenated blood to her brain. The facility documented those cognitive changes in her medical record. Despite this, financial documents were presented directly to her while we, the family members who visited every single day, were never contacted beforehand. When we confronted the finance office, hoping for an explanation, the interaction only made matters worse. Mike spoke to me with a tone and level of disrespect that left me in tears. He insisted my mother-in-law was mentally competent to handle her own affairs, repeatedly stating that because I did not have power of attorney, I had no right to question what had occurred. We were never provided copies of the documents she signed, nor were we even allowed to review them. As a result, the facility gained access to her income while she still owned a home and had financial obligations outside of the nursing facility. My mother-in-law entered Kings Harbor for one reason, to rebuild her strength through physical therapy so she could hopefully undergo heart surgery and return home. Instead, we watched a vibrant, intelligent, independent woman steadily decline while under their care. At 80 years old, she was anything but a typical nursing home resident. She loved following current events, discussing politics, listening to music, watching sports, and engaging in meaningful conversations. She still had a passion for life. Rather than helping her maintain the independence she still possessed, it seemed that the focus became managing her decline instead of maximizing her quality of life. Not every employee lacked compassion. The Physical Therapy department, especially Yelly, genuinely seemed invested in helping my mother-in-law regain strength. There was also an aide named Terrie whose kindness and compassion stood out during an incredibly difficult time. Their humanity is something I will always remember and appreciate. After she passed away in January 2026 while still a resident of Kings Harbor, I began receiving bills at our home demanding payment of her outstanding balance. Receiving collection notices while grieving her loss felt insensitive, inappropriate. Based on everything my family witnessed and experienced, I cannot recommend Kings Harbor Multicare Center.

It's frustrating when friends and family try to share their experiences, only to have their voices silenced. Please do your research and avoid this place if you care about receiving quality care.

I was at Regis to get stronger and functional to go back home; now under home health care as well. Ms Cruz helped me so much with even picking up my mail from my apartment's mailbox and bringing it to me at the center to making it easier to be released when I was strong enough to go home. The latest thing she helped me with was SSA (Social Security) wrongfully reduced my benefits because they stated that I was living at the care center but I was discharged on July 18th! So Ma Cruz sent SSA my discharge paper and a letter explaining that I was discharged on July 18th. I'm very grateful to her and some other kind, compassionate staff at Regis Care Center. It is also very well kept, from the grounds to the physical plant, which is quite well-maintained and CLEAN. I find most everyone professional, accommodating and respectful. In fact, most people I have encountered here have expressed that they "love this job." The primary reason for my being admitted here is for wound care. The wound care providers are like none I have ever seen. They are very conscientious and fastidious. I can't compliment them enough! The physical and occupational therapy provided is top-notch. Clients are not warehoused, nor are they left to linger between "sets." The entirety of the staff is mindful and take note of all of the clientele. This facility's ONLY downfall is in its delivery of food services. I am at a loss to understand how it can be so deficient when every other department is wholly on point. I dare say that if there was improvement in this department, they might NEVER experience a low census, as I would expect people to be knocking down the door to receive their care.
