Once they took him it turned out to be the opposite of what they sold. Their sales people are not educated in health care. In the case of our Father, we were transparent about his Dementia and unsure what the proper place was for him. They assured us that they were familiar and had the proper structure in place to give him adequate care. They went further to say that they were building out a memory care unit which he would be perfect for. He never received the services they offered, which were PT, OT, Speech and Psych. He only received PT on a sporadic basis. They mismanaged his Meds for his first two months which we only found out during a med renewal period. They missed hygiene appointments and were late taking him to meals on several occasions. He was moved to another room due to bed bugs and left in confusion alone in the unfamiliar room for hours at a time resulting a face first fall whereby he was hospitalized after suffering a bad black eye and cut to the bridge of his nose. The Aides were completely untrained to handle full care and in fact took video without permission publicly ridiculing and chastising him. Our Dad suffered injuries, malnourishment and setbacks, which was devastating for our family. No one there took accountability. Instead they pressed us to get him out, which we were looking to and finally able to do. Unless they truly dedicate themselves to being nothing but a sales job, your cared one will be at risk there both in health and economically.

The Atria Woodlands in Ardsley, NY offers a shining light in the lives of its residents. We just…read morehad a relative enter the facility recently. The Atria had a welcome sign on the door of his new apartment. Everyone welcomed him to the place, from the friendly receptionist to the social director and one of the managers. The people at the Atria are warm and smiling and ready to help. Our relative said the food was delicious and that we picked a great place! Jan Unger, the community sales director, went above and beyond to make sure our relative's first day there was a good one and helped us solve a big problem when a mattress we ordered failed to arrive. He arranged for an emergency mattress to be delivered for our relative to use until his permanent mattress came. The emergency mattress came within an hour of the conversation we had with Jan. Tabitha, the receptionist, was warm and happy to see us when we walked in the door. Christina, the engage life director, took time out of her busy day to help understand who our relative was and his needs. The facility has a resident ambassador who reached out to our family member and talked with him and invited him to sit at his table in the dining room. We are very impressed with the Atria Woodlands and would strongly recommend it to anyone who needs an assisted living residence.

My dad had dementia and we were paying for the highest level of care with around the clock nurses…read more We checked in constantly as every time we visited my Dad, he was in a soiled diaper, had been ringing the bell, and no one came. I asked to look at the call logs as the head nurse claimed that he called for the nurse too much so they just ignored them. He actually only called when wet or thirsty. The nurses are supposed to answer within five minutes, yet when they finally let me see the call log (by law they have to) there were times where it took over a half hour to get to him. My Dad was a very proud and clean man so sitting like that made him horribly depressed. So, the Atria gives him meds and tries to make him a vegetable. I asked the nurses why it takes so long to help him, especially since we paid upward of $10,000 a month, and one nurse actually cried to me that they don't hire enough nurses to save money and they are always short staffed! One night we get a call that my dad slipped in the shower. Bizarre since he's supposed to be with a nurse and sitting since he was a fall risk. They claim that he undressed and went into the shower himself! Complete lie as there was physically no way he could have done that alone. Clearly they put him in the shower and left him to run to another room. He was lying naked and alone in the shower for who knows how long with broken ribs until someone went back in. Then we had to scramble to get him into rehab, and the Atria tells us he can't come back because he requires too much care-- but get this-- they charge us for the rest of the month, over $7000. Dad didn't make it, and even though everything was in his name, they're after us for the money after their negligence. Please be aware that positive reviews are from people who get paid to put your loved ones there.

My grandmother…read morehad moved into this place several years ago after her husband passed away while still being semi independent. In the beginning, it was a second home to her, filled with countless activities, caring staff and management, and so on. Unfortunately, as time went on, and my grandmother was having much more trouble walking before transitioning to a wheel chair and constantly having to use the bathroom due to medical issues, the place changed. The facility kept tacking on extra care charges despite the fact my grandma had a private aid 12 hours a day. When trying to call the finance department to state that my family was paying privately for an aid for half the day, all we were left with was an argument, a cold nature from the woman who works in the finance department or at one point, no call backs because they could not be bothered doing their research. My grandmother had fallen, while an aid, who worked for the fountains (not private,) was in her apartment with her, resulting in three fractured ribs, stitches in her head, hip injury, a black eye, a bloody nose and being rushed to the ER. The aid in the room was the same aid my grandmother had asked management not to assist her due to the aids cold, rude and uncaring nature that had resulted in discrepancies in the past. To this day, my grandmother, facility staff and the aid all have different stories. How does a resident fall in their small apartment while an aid is present you may ask? We still ask to this day. On top of this, the facility nearly blamed my grandmother for the aid not doing her job properly. Not too long after this incident, my grandmother had to go to a rehab facility. The Fountains waited until the last possible second (3 days before she was to be released from rehab) to evaluate my grandmother to only say they would not take her back at the fountains. My grandmother was devastated. If you ask me, they did not take her back to cover their own behinds because of the incident that occurred with the aid in her room. The Fountains uprooted my grandmothers entire life due to not taking her back, and essentially left her without a place to live. On top of that, she was expected to pay for each day her belongings were still in her apartment. Imagine being held liable to pay an excessive amount of money when a facility essentially kicked you out of your home? Absolutely sickening. Please be Leary of this place before placing a loved one her. Please also do not trust the aid SUSANNA with your loved one, as she is the aid responsible for my grandmas injuries due to carelessness. The staff and management are not what it used to be. They have no problem taking your money, but have problems with taking responsibility for the staff's poor behaviors and correcting it

He loves the varied (and customizable) menu choices, the plentiful food, and the elegant service. The staff at all levels could not be more caring and enthusiastic about him and all the residents. It's a great environment, topped off with a fabulous location in the heart of the village of Tuckahoe, New York, experiencing its own revival in recent years. However still a great trip. There are plenty of historical and whimsical tales to follow and get to see here. This place is a great time. There's a cemetery with plenty of famous figures to visit, not mentioning on the amazing works of art in the graves. There's the manor tours where you can see how things were in the 1700's as well as plenty other things to see. This is definetly a great time.
