My loved one died this morning and an Apria representative calls me at 9PM on a Sunday regarding equipment... and mistakenly says he's scheduling an equipment delivery. And only when prompted figures out that it's an equipment pickup. How insensitive and irresponsible of them. I told him to call me tomorrow during business hours. And they appear to be using a fake caller ID name/number. Seriously? So, after not hearing from them I called, spent some time on hold and was told that since my loved on has died they will send a "dead driver" to pick up the equipment. Perhaps that is delivery slang but they didn't seem to think twice about what it sounds like to the customer. and not even a "sorry for your loss"; Just "go to the website to see when the pickup is scheduled." The whole company or staff are very bad here. They are unorganized and you're getting different information from everyone you talk to. My wife has been trying to get a breast pump from here since it's covered under her insurance with Apria Healthcare. At first they told us that her OBGYN just need to fax over the prescription and that's it. We never heard back so we checked back with them and we found out they give us the wrong fax number so we were given a new fax number. My wife got the text message that her order was received and they will send another text message when it ship. It never did so we called back 3 days later and then another person from Apria said the doctor office need to provide the demographic before anything can be done. We were all confused because no one told us this and we never got contacted. So it's basically like starting over again for the request. When you call their main number, you'll be routed to different Apria location so you have to always make sure you're talking to the location near you because they'll give you conflicting information. I would recommend not even bothering using this company because something so simple is being more complicated with different information from their workers. Apria Healthcare Review I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Apria Healthcare. We were originally told to rent the CPAP machine, and we followed those instructions. About a month later, Apria changed the arrangement and said we needed to purchase the machine for $740 to keep it. Without providing a clear statement, mailed notice, email, or other reliable notification, they placed our account in collections. We were then told we had only two options: pay $740 to own the machine or return it to have the collection issue removed. This was especially upsetting because we were never clearly informed beforehand that the terms had changed. Communication was extremely difficult. Apria said they had tried to contact us, but the calls came from unfamiliar numbers, including a Sunday call. On an iPhone, calls from unknown numbers can be silenced, so we did not know these calls were from Apria. When we called back, it could take hours or even a full day to reach a live representative. We were also repeatedly directed to automated/AI representatives rather than getting timely help from a knowledgeable person. Even more concerning, Apria would not send the CPAP supplies prescribed by our physician unless we first paid the $740 for the machine. Patients depend on this equipment and supplies for their healthcare, so this was extremely concerning. What was most frustrating was that no one actually helped resolve the problem. Every time we contacted Apria, representatives seemed to simply follow the same company script and repeat the same options instead of listening to our situation, investigating what happened, or finding a reasonable solution. We were passed from one representative to another without getting a meaningful resolution. I also encourage people to look at the Google reviews for Apria. What is particularly disappointing is seeing responses from the company that appear extremely similar from one review to another, with seemingly the same response being used repeatedly and only the customer's name changed. This gives the impression that the company is responding to reviews with a standard script rather than genuinely addressing the individual patient's concerns. This experience made me feel that Apria cares more about collecting money than caring for its patients. A healthcare company has a responsibility to communicate clearly, treat patients with compassion, and understand how dependent patients can be on their medical equipment. In our experience, Apria failed to do that. I am asking Apria to take this complaint seriously, review our account and communications, remove the collection issue if it resulted from this misunderstanding, and restore the medically prescribed CPAP supplies without requiring payment of the disputed $740. Patients should not have to fight this hard to receive equipment and supplies prescribed by their physicians. I hope Apria will have someone actually review this case instead of simply following a script and repeating the same response. There is just nothing good to say. Nothing. The delivery is unreliable, customer service is anything but service. The website says one thing and EVERY person you can reach tells you something else. They insist you've told them things that never happened and are discourteous. One rep would not stop reading her script and would not let me speak until I finally raised my voice to get her to STOP AND LISTEN. Their response to their inability to replace a defective air concentrator quickly, was for us to go to the ER. Waiting 3 days is just unconscionable. And they still have to come back. Very bad. Been trying to get a bed delivered for 1 month. Continued to call and each time I got a different story as to why the delivery got moved or canceled. Today I called and the lady said she would look into the issue. She left me on hold for 45 minutes and disconnected before returning to the call. Then, the office started rerouting all calls to San Diego. They had to transfer me back. I then spoke to a manager today (Carlos) who promised the bed would get delivered, only to have the wrong one arrive which wouldn't have helped (and actually made the problem worse). Wish I could give zero stars. This is on top of the fact that they never delivered the wheelchair promised (and I had to buy one or else my Dad would have been stranded). This review/rating is for the company in general not necessarily the field branch. How Apria is not on some kind of blacklist or sanctioned is totally beyond me! Their customer service is absolutely ABYSMAL. Dealing with them is horrendous and the employees are like robots when they feebly attempt to answer any questions you may have. Coming to any kind of resolution to your problem is basically impossible. They deliver canned responses to all queries are unacceptable. They are incapable of explaining anything. I have been attempting to deal with Apria for around 3 years and not once have I had a halfway decent experience with anyone associated with this company. Almost every week I get recorded phone calls saying " we are calling to check on our patient" all they are doing is trying to sell you more supplies. If you look online at Apria reviews you will see ratings of 1.09 from BBB, 1.5 on Trust Pilot, 1.9 on Consumer Affairs and 1.5 on Yelp. If I could I would rate them less than 1 star. I got a call from an apria representative asking for payment for supplies I did not recieve. When i informed her that I never recieved supplies, I asked her where did the supplies get delivered, and she gave me the address of this apria site in van nuys. I informed her that I didnt recieve supplies and shouldnt be held liable for it. She then transferred me to the location, which after 10 minutes of being put on hold, the call was hung up on their end. I personally called and spoke to someone again from the billing department who told me I had an outstanding balance, she told me that I was charged for supplies sent on 5/6/25 AND 5/12/25. I immediately asked her why would apria authorize or even send me a full set of supplies within a week of each other. She could not give me an answer and informed me that she would call me back. I informed her that i did not recieve two sets of supplies and should not be expected to pay for the second shipment that i did not recieve. I don't think I've ever encountered a medical supply company that has such a dysfunctional management heirarchy, a callous staff and an absolute lack of empathy for patients. Insurance companies also do not enjoy working with them. While Apria is a big player in several major markets to supply equipment for patients having a variety of health needs, they seem to thrive on making it difficult for those that need them. Just to give an example, on this labor day, which is a federal holiday, I was at lunch with the family. I get this call from Apria, erroneously stating that I owed them hundreds of dollars as a past balance. This happens every month. The root of the problem is, they're not coding their claims accurately, and are not willing to learn from their past mistakes. I know many patients will be switching to other companies. I've called 4x and waited 5 weeks and still nothing. I got a supervisor on the phone finally and was given more excuses but she failed to expedite my order even though they messed it up and I will have to pause my therapy while I wait for fresh supplies. Even doctor's office frustrated, no matter what paperwork is sent there is always some reason and need for MORE paperwork. If I can give this company a Zero star, I would. Whoever answers the phone does not understand between Apria Healthcare vs Apria Direct. Good luck getting support if your doctor needs the data from anything that came from Direct. They will send you back and forth between two entities. If you're a new CPAP patient, Apria Direct will get you to buy supplies from them instead of Healthcare, where supplies are done through insurance. With Direct, you pay out of pocket. Had to make multiple calls to them. Dr. Ordered a lighter wheelchair for him and it arrived without feet. Now I'm at the local office waiting for them even though they had me make an appt to pick them up since they made the error. Turns out they were going to give me the wrong ones. Glad I questioned them. More phone calls later now about CPAP problem. Received a new one and air hose not the correct size. Two more hoses later and still wrong size. Respiratory Therapist arrived and told him he has to make more phone calls for the correct size hose. Apparently I'm told we have to go through the same process once more even though I was clear about the new system he received. Don't Use Them! I am going to report them! Total Fraud! I called for a refill on my dad's oxygen tank, and they said there was no order. There was (I have proof). Then we called for pick up (Kaiser canceled order for us- since they won't refill). The tanks were supposed to be picked up on 1/2/24 (nope), 1/4/24 (nope again), then I called to see what was going on, and they said there was no order to cancel. Keep in mind, they are billing us for the tanks. Kaiser submitted another cancellation order. I called, and this time they said tanks will be picked up on 1/31/24 (nope). I called again, this time spoke to the supervisor and she assured me that the tanks will be picked up on 2/1 (nope again). Use them at your own risk! read more

Dealing with Apria Healthcare to facilitate delivery of DMEs (Durable Medical Equipment) prior to discharge for my son who was recently hospitalized is extremely frustrating. Their process is slow and customer service is very poor. They lack empathy for patients who are already going through a stressful time in their lives by making the process difficult to obtain the proper DMEs. The hospital case manager and myself have tried several times to contact them to expedite a request in order for my son to be safely discharged, but have been unsuccessful. My insurance have indicated that no pre-authorization required for the DMEs. However, Apria Health insist on obtaining one prior to delivering the DMEs, yet they submit incomplete documentations to the insurance, delaying the discharge process yet again. When attempting to contact the manager handling the case at Apria, the intake persons answering the phone is short, rude, provided poor customer service, and lacks patient empathy. Since Apria has been delaying providing the necessary DMEs my son needs in order to be safely discharged, we ended up purchasing the DMEs ourselves through a different medical supply company! It's unfortunate and disheartening that Apria Health does value patient wellness as their top priority. read more

Absolutely the worst !!! customer service I've ever had to deal with . Scammers they get you to order a bunch of medical equipment saying that your insurance will cover the costs because it is necessary for the equipment to work properly and for your health and then your insurance will say it isn't medically necessary leaving you stuck with the bill . I ordered xl masks and without saying anything they sent me large masks and would not return without additional charges to me . Do not use this company! I called the Apria Van Nuys office and have been waiting on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes, just to make an appointment to get help with my ResMed C-Pap device. This is crazy! I have made mashed potatoes, vegetables, salmon while being on hold. And now I am about to make Salty Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. I wish they had an option to save my place in line and call me back like a lot of airlines and other companies have now. I do think the Apria staff are helpful if you can get them on the phone. I don't even know what time they close. I might be on the phone waiting all night until they open again in the morning.
