When deciding on what night to enjoy a boat rides opted for Weds as the extra ticket cost seemed justified to cover the cost of a few adult beverages. Sadly, they were unprepared and my friend and I could only enjoy 1 beverage because they ran out within 35 minutes of pulling away from the dock and 15 of this minutes were spent under cover due to heavy rain. We took a Sunset Cruise on a Friday evening and it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be a ferry type of boat but instead it was a catamaran with some chairs on the floor. Judging from the group of Ke$has sitting on one side of the boat and the obscene amount of selfies they have taken before the boat has even launched and the very loud group of men at the back of the boat who all have the same buzzcut, Sperrys, khaki shorts, and pastel polos, I was afraid this would become a booze cruise that I probably should've experienced 15 years ago. Instead, here we were, a group of late 30-somethings looking to have a relaxing sunset cruise. Well, as we headed out to the harbor, the speakers were playing reggae and the drinks were flowing (there's a bar on the boat). Well, this 2-hour-ish cruise ended up being perfect! Yes, the college kids on vacation were loud. However, they were very respectful and weren't too rowdy. With this cruise you definitely see the sunset, Fort Sumter, and the entire harbor. Eventually, the boat started playing country music (which isn't my favorite). However, being in the South and being on a boat in the middle of the Charleston Harbor; I couldn't think of a better soundtrack actually. However, this cruise was the only time in the South where I've ever felt like "the other". One of the Ke$has kept on referring to my friend and I as the Asians. I know she meant no harm but gosh does being called the Asians really make you feel like sticking out like a sore thumb. Rather than being "those people over there" or simply "that guy and girl over there"......we were the Asians on the boat. Nevermind the fact that both my friend and I probably had about 10 years on them on being American. Well, anyway, not really related to the boat so I don't dock (ha!) them any points for that encounter. I guess that actually just adds to the "Southern Experience". Still, I recommend it! Last night's Margarita Monday sunset sail was so fun! Though tickets are usually $35, ladies get $15 off for this sail, which is 2 hours and includes complimentary bottled water, sodas, snacks (chips&salsa, mini taco things, cookies), and margaritas! They also have a cash bar for beer and wine. The staff (only 2 of them) were fun and upbeat. Of course when you're on a catamaran with 20-100 people and only one person is serving margaritas from a beverage cooler, it's gonna be slow-going, but after the initial line weans down its easy to get a drink (until it runs out...which it did less than halfway through the trip)! Because of that, the captain took $2 of the price of Pinot Grigio...nice, but not the same as complimentary margaritas. The best part was climbing up top with my girl friends to sit near the sails! The different view and having to duck when they jived the sails made it more unique. Though it was raining in other parts of Charleston all day, we got lucky with nice, cool weather (though light cloud coverage did block the sunset a bit). We definitely want to come back in the future! The Palmetto Breeze takes off from Red's on Shem Creek at 6:30 (when the dolphins are OUT). It's probably best to buy your tickets online before the day of the event, but we were able to snag some spaces/pay the captain on the dock. We booked tickets for the Sunset Sail, on the Palmetto Breeze, out of Shem Creek SC. I can't recommend this experience enough! It offers gorgeous views of the Charleston Harbor. The catamaran is comfy and clean, and the the crew was super friendly. We went of the Mermaid Cruise which was ladies night. Ladies are $25 with $2 drink specials. Sit up front in the deck seats - just do it! And don't be surprised if a little dance party breaks out on the boat. We'll definitely do this again. read more

We took a sunset boat cruise for my girlfriend's Bachelorette night. It was so much fun!! The captain and skippers were so sweet to us and played musical requests! The bartender was fun and very nice also! We had the best time!! The boat ride lasts 2 hours and you get to see the entire Fort, which was super cool also. read more

My husband and I took a sunset sail on the Palmetto Breeze for the first time recently. We went with a group of about 10 - 15 adults and we all bought our tickets in advance (which was a good thing since the sail sold out). We went on a Tuesday and they were running a 2-for-1 deal: one ticket for $40 got 2 people on the boat (regular price is $40/person). The ticket included bottled water and soft drinks which were available for self-service in a cooler on the deck. There was also a bar available with a selection of beer and cocktails. The entire sail took about 2 hours. It departed from Shem Creek (boarding in front of Tavern and Table). We sailed by the Yorktown and under the Ravenel bridge before turning around and sailing past the aquarium, water front park (downtown) and Castle Pickney. The views from the boat were beautiful the entire time. One couple even got engaged during our sail! And several others were celebrating birthdays. There are two bare-bone bathrooms on the boat which is very convenient, but Its an actual physical workout (you will break a sweat) to flush the toilet - so try not to drink too much. The boat was fairly spacious at capacity, you walk or sit comfortably without being on top of each other. My husband and I took advantage of the foldable lounge chairs on the wooden deck for most of the sail. There are only about 20 - 25 chairs on the deck though, so arrive early if you want to snag one. If you don't get one, there are a couple of other places around the boat to sit, including a few benches near the bar area. There weren't very many children on our cruise, although children were welcome. It didn't appear that there was much for them to do and the few that were onboard seemed to get antsy pretty quickly- jumping around, climbing on the boat, etc. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend the sail for young children. Overall, it was a very nice cruise and we would definitely do it again. read more

This is a review for the Palmetto Breeze, the catamaran docked near Tavern and Table. We decided to sail on a Tuesday evening, for "2 for Tuesday" ($40 for two tickets) and found it to be a lovely experience. I packed a picnic and we grabbed a couple drinks. Water and soda are complimentary but the cash only bar serves beer and wine from $3-$5. The crowd was mixed but fun. There were some children running around, a few families and some groups of 20-30 somethings celebrating and many date-night couples. We trolled out of Shem Creek and let out the sails past the Marina. We sailed out past Ft. Sumter and back under the Ravenel Bridge. It was gorgeous and relaxing. On the way back up the creek, a critical amount of alcohol had been imbibed and line dancing began. Minus one star for a very dirty head (bathroom). read more

$35 a person and no food or drink included is crazy to me. I've lived in Mt Pleasant for 10 years now and taken the cruise several times myself - always on a Thurs or Friday. Every single time it's a different situation - very inconsistent and the website doesn't clearly indicate anything about alcohol being extra for any of the tours. You don't find out beverages are extra until after the boat has left the dock. read more

Three phone calls to their contact number went straight to voicemail, and no one returned my call. Waiting now at the dock, but no one is reading the boat. Great weather and a fun and relaxing cruise - two hours for $25 - they have a cash bar with beer, wine and sodas. Unfortunately, I did not have a best experience with this company. My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to get away for the Pope in Philly this past weekend and we were in a rush to get things rolling. Without thinking too much about it, we planned our trip and did not realize that there were going to be storms the whole time we would be there. After realizing this, and knowing that there was a no refund policy, I e-mailed the company (a matter of an hour after booking the tickets) in hopes of them being able to honor us a refund because of the situation. I did not get an e-mail back, so I decided to call them the next afternoon. I got in touch with a very nice lady and she told me that usually they will not honor any kind of refund unless it was some kind of emergency but that she would try her best to see what she could do. I got an e-mail 2 days later and they told me that there was nothing that they could do and that unless the trip was canceled, they could not honor me a refund. I e-mailed them back right away and asked if it would be at all possible for them to have me keep a credit, so that I could use it for another time - it just sucks to have to lose 70 bucks for nothing. I still have not heard back from them. Needless to say, this company is not very flexible and is not willing to work with their costumers. read more
