Linda was beyond rude, talked to me like I was stupid, and when I said my daughters knew swimming beyond what they were teaching them, she replied "if your daughters know how to swim, why did you sign them up for swim lessons?" However, we Missed the first few days due to a holiday and construction/getting lost. That was our fault. But, When when we arrived for lessons, they placed one of the kids in a different swim group with younger kids After they were in the water for no more than 2 minutes. When I questioned if he Could move with the other boys as we had scheduled, or if any accommodation could be made, the director told me that my son was placed with the other group bc he was determined the "weakest swimmer" among 5 other kids in group with his friends he was in. I knew that was a lie. They told me based their program off how many kids and Divvy it up between the 3 instructors. But that is not what I saw to be true of skill level or ability among the kids. She said they teach the same things and all kids learn the same in each group. she's done this 45 years. And the full "this is how we do it" speech. But when you pull a kid from the rest of the group within a minute of them being in the water, and you tell the Mom/caregiver at the end of lessons that the child was "weakest of the kids, and he needed work and was not listening" (which was not true) without highlighting any of his positive growth, you need to work on your skills with customers a And customer service is in definite growth opportunity. I also felt like the instructors could have used better discipline and communication techniques with the kids. They were often rigid and pushy. They do not talk with the parent/caregiver after lessons or give any type of update on the students' progress or areas to work on. Overall, their target market is daycare kids that they carpool from daycare center(s). If you need group swim lessons for your kid or your small group of daycare kids, I don't personally recommend this group for swim lessons.

Down below is where the magic happens.. modeled off of KU Athletics. They have a turf area good for sled pushes or sprints. Also a huge cage that has TRX, bands, and bench/squat racks. They have power lifting platforms and just about everything you could possibly need. They also have classes throughout the week in different rooms, an indoor pool, and saunas in the locker rooms. I took 1 star away because they don't offer any kind of free trial. Wether that be a a day or a week like most fitness places. Also because the saunas really don't get too hot, unless I'm doing something wrong.. Overall a very nice location. Always clean, staff is friendly and never too busy.

I have been coming to that location since it was Prairie Life Center. The pool is always clean and I can always access a lane to swim in. The bicycle and machines in the workout rooms always have no wait time to join in! Noah and Eric were extremely accommodating for my guest pass and great customer service! They made my work trip to Kansas stress free and relaxing. Meanwhile I will return home in the SF Bay and day dream of Genesis for their excellent customer service and no wait times. Well now 2/4 are broken and it's nearly impossible to get a turn at all during the evenings. It's really disappointing because that is the main machine that I use, as do a lot of other people. I would love to see these be fixed at some point and not just left untouched. It's unfortunate you have to wait sometimes hours for these machines and sometimes don't even get the chance to use it at all:(

This gym is more interested in selling classes in addition to the membership. You don't have to…read morejoin the classes, but the problem is when the classes take up all the usable space and members are left with little to none. For example, youth swim lessons and water aerobics take up the entire pool area on Saturdays, making it impossible if you would like to swim laps. "Alpha" fitness classes have two areas that take up a significant portion of the upstairs gym, and they run classes constantly. On top of all this, the equipment that is left for members to use (i.e. benches and machines) are old and falling apart. I personally had a pin slip from an adjustable bench when I had it set to incline for bench press. I fell back with it and chipped my tooth. For the money you pay and for the money they add for extra classes and "events", they should really have better stuff for the general membership. It presents as though little regard is given to the overall members.

The staff are extremely friendly and I've never had an issue while being a patron. I will go on record there will be busy times and off times, and most of my review comes from the perspective of a 5am gym rat. The experience during peak times like 5-7pm will be substantially different. That said, Gensis has a fair amount of equipment to keep everyone happy if you don't mind working in. First off, the showers are plentiful and well stocked with towels but the pathway to the indoor pool is a bit sketchy in that you pass in view of the front door. I've never had to wait on a shower, typically between 5-7am. As for swimming laps in the winter, one might need to tailer their swim routine as people like me who can swim roughly 100 laps and then there's the elderly swim classes. The point is there are limitations. When spring-fall happens it's a bit easier b/c the outdoor pool offers more lanes. Also, the outdoor pool is great for kids who are just starting to swim. Not only do they have a slide but a gradual slope into the water allows kids to wade slowly, perfect for a teaching moment. Next, I've never tried the café so I can't speak on prices, options or anything. As far as BB courts I workout really early in the morning so I can usually shoot alone but afternoons, you'll be waiting to get on the floor. I've never been to a class for things like aerobics, yoga or anything but I have had a trainer. My trainer was a former Mr Midwest champ at light heavyweight, or something along those lines but I honestly think I was bamboozled a bit. In my ignorance I was expecting 3 or 4 sessions a week, a meal plan and several different workout options based on my desired goals. What I got was a body fat measurement via a tape measure and scale along with a musclebound dude to spot me for 3 months. No meal plan, no spreadsheet with workouts that fit me. I mean he fulfilled the spirit of the contract besides not giving me a meal plan other than "eat some berries and tuna", but not what we initially discussed. Now, I will say the greatest thing I learned was foam rolling my muscles. I will admit, I wrestled in high school and college and I've always been fit therefore I know how to workout and diet. So, for many others, they may need a little more education so be sure to emphasize that in the contract. As for workout equipment, they have plenty of stair masters, nautilus machines, free weights, treadmills and so forth to accommodate a lot of people. I think out of my 4 years there I only had an issue with someone reading a newspaper on a butterfly machine and I was doing cardio line training so I didn't want my heart rate to slow down while he was reading. Other than that, it's been very good. What I really like it the indoor track upstairs. This offers a good alternative to the treadmill and good to burn off some calories, but watch out for those people doing squat thrusts in the slow lane! In summary, I never used all the amenities offered but there are a lot. I only wanted to reference what I've taken advantage of at Genesis. I was happy with my stay there and encourage anyone who wants to improve their health to drop on by and get a free trial membership. Two thumbs almost straight up!

Everything is new and improved, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They interact with members better than any of the gyms around here. They also listen and make improvements as they go, which is pretty darn intuitive. And speaking of intuition, I happen to be hearing impaired and years ago, when I was signing my contract, they were very helpful by taking it slow, which I very much appreciated. The equipment is all brand new, so it should be great for many years to come. The pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and free weight areas are all top drawer. All in all, a great gym
