Ar-be was a reputable company this company claims due to emergencies with other calls they couldn't keep my appointment. They only offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. Since I had purchased my garage door opener from ARBE I contacted them to obtain a remote control since mine no longer worked. First I'm informed that the remote would cost $50, then I'm told it would cost me $79 for them to come out! I said just to give me a remote its going to cost me $79? She said "yes, they need to get up on a ladder to program it". Then suggested I could go to a garage door supply place in Bedford Park, it would still cost me $50. I said maybe I should try Menards or something, she stated she heard people try that and end up having to return them. I just hung up! I went to my garage door opened took down make & model etc., also had the make & model of my remote., went on Amazon and low and behold they had my exact remote for $32!!! I don't write many reviews but they deserve the recognition. I called at 11am and they were able to schedule me for same day service, very courteous company, from the technician to the customer service rep. I told them my garage door wouldn't close, kept getting tripped by the sensor even though there wasn't an obstruction. The green light was on so I wasn't sure what it could be. Scott, the technician, took a look at told me that it sometimes does this, all it needs is an adjustment so it shines brighter, it's only noticeable when you get up close to the sensor light hat you can see a slight flicker. He adjusted the sensor/light and quickly fixed my issue. He didn't want to charge because it took him all of 2 minutes to fix, didn't even give me a chance to offer him some lunch money. There are only a few times in life when you're so unbelievably impressed with someone that it becomes one of those life stories you tell at parties. Yesterday I called AR-BE to come out and see what is causing my door opening switch to work incorrectly, (Note: when the door was installed the rep said my motor was working fine and didn't need replacement). Anyway the owner of AR-BE Garage Door came out today, in 90 degree heat, and quickly found that the photo eyes just needed to be adjusted, which he did, and the opener switch worked correctly as it should. I had AR-BE come out to repair the garage door track. Victor came out and did the repair. I asked Victor for a quote for a new garage door opener. They quoted almost $700. I asked Victor if he could install the opener if I bought one myself (knowing they don't cost that much). He quoted me $150, we set up a day/ time for install. He didn't show up 2 times. On the 3rd day he showed up 1 1/2 hours late. He installed it and said if you have any problems, contact me, not AR-BE as this is a "side job" and I don't want to lose my job. Today I contacted the company and spoke to Dave who indicated he was the manager. I explained the situation to him & he said sorry they are independent contractors. They don't work for us.
