Last Friday evening, my garage door wouldn't open. I saw a spring was broken. I called Allied that evening and told them that it was "urgent" but not an emergency. I has used Allied before so I had their contact information handy. Just a few hours later, on Saturday morning, I got a call back form Mike. We started wondering if purchasing a garage door opener in advance was at the heart of our installer issues. After all, a number of companies don't appreciate small jobs. However, thankfully, Allied Garage Door isn't one of those businesses. When we reached out to them for a quote, the customer service rep, immediately provided us with a reasonable flat rate quote and a time when a tech would be able to arrive. We were impressed with our technician, Lafayette. He masterfully assessed the scope of our project and our overall needs. What made the garage door opener installation a bit trickier is the fact that my father's car could not be removed from the garage; it has a bad alternator. Although another installer told us that this would be a problem, so much so he refused to do the job, it was no issue for Lafayette. He knew exactly how to proceed. All it took was a signed waiver and he immediately began working. Lafayette, took great care in working around my father's car. His work was efficient and impeccably done. Average review. Fast scheduling event though I said it wasnt urgent. People on phone were super nice. When the tech came out, he was very curt and short. I like to learn these things as I am fairly mechanically knowledge minus the electronics in these systems. The tech within seconds said I needed new rollers, new bearings, new cables, everything short of the door itself. When I went to let them in (btw this issue was just my door not staying down) I noticed the mount where the bar and chain connects on the door side had popped loose and had a ton of play in it. I was like damn, I thats probably the issue and I could have fixed it myself. I asked about it and the tech just blew me off. He did secure the mount and made some adjustments internally in the unit. Said a wire came loose but said I could wait till it comes loose again or just replace the whole unit. Say what? Because a mount came loose, cause the system to shake, knocking a wire loose, and I have to replace all of it? Ummm fact check, if you install a a new unit and still have it loosely mounted, guess, what, its gonna have the same issue! So, I felt I was being "upcharged" since I used to be in a business similar. Disappointed in the experience as the reviews showed they were fair (but trying to sell me all new stuff), cost effective ($145), informative (i couldnt even get a simple yes or no when I asked a question). The , he seemed frustrated when I wanted to leave it as is once it was readjusted. Then mumbled "oh it wont last till summer." Really? Its 10 years old and has NEVER given any issue until I noticed a mount come loose. Thats it! So we will see. I don't usually give a review but this company is very straight forward. When I called on Saturday and ask for a quote Mike who answered the call gave me a simple answer part & labor charge. I called couple of companies but they just giving me a round around quote. On the day of the appointment, they call me to informed me that the technician is on the way at least half hour. The tech was very young and less that a year in the company but very well trained. It didn't took him an hour to fix my garage spring. I highly recommended the company. read more

On Friday evening my garage door wouldn't go up so upon inspection I noticed that one of the spring broke. Of course it had to happen at the start of the weekend. I went onto Yelp to look for a few local places and sent a message out. Allied was the only one who got back to me. I told them I would wait until the week because I know charges are higher on weekends. The owner said that they don't charge extra fees for weekends which made me feel a lot better. On Saturday morning the technician, Lafayette came out and was professional. He worked hard and completed the work and nearly 2 hours from speaking to someone on a Saturday morning my garage was fixed,m. We ended up getting 2 new springs since everyone loves to go in a out through my garage door and it is always being over-used. The second one was bound to break. We called them yesterday morning and the technician, Patrick, arrived in the afternoon as promised. Our garage door and electric door opener are well over 40 years old. Someone, ok me, hit the garage door sensor off of wherever it was screwed on and so our electric door opener would not work. Looking at the garage door, we figured we would need a new garage door because we were missing rollers and hinges had come undone. Patrick was able to save our garage door by replacing rollers, fixing popped cables, tightening springs and anchoring the garage door sensor. Total cost was under $200.00. That's fantastic. It's difficult to get away with any type of home service call for less than $200.00. We are very happy with the service that Allied Garage Door, Inc. gave us. read more

I want to share with you guys an experience I had with Allied Garage Door service, first to clarify this is not a negative review. It is quite the opposite. I came home late on a Saturday night and was in a hurry to get in the house, and when I lowered the door I heard the crunch of metal, and realized the garage door came down my car. When I tried to raise door that's when I realized it's broke. So I did a google search for garage door repair, my search produced several results. The first company suggested replacing the garage door unit without looking at it. I explained the belt came loose. There is a clip which holds the belt together. He would have noticed it had he performed a site visit. He quoted me $745.00, naturally I passed. Next I called Allied Garage Door service. A tech came out and was able to reconnect the drive belt, and adjust opener for $140.00 (a big savings). He did mention eventually I'll have to replace the garage door. I emailed Allied Door because I was having a sensor problem. Mike emailed me back almost immediately and told me to call him because the issue might not warrant a house visit. When I got home that evening I called and Mike was available and took the time to go over my issues and walk me through what was going on. He "dumbed it down" for me to understand and when I wasn't quite getting it he suggested I search for a You Tube video to understand what he was exactly talking about. All of his suggestions were perfect and I was able to correct the issue without them coming out. It is nice to know that there are still decent reputable people in this world. These guys are great! Bill answered the phone and told him my garage door just stopped moving up and down with my remote. He said it maybe the garage door lock button I hit on accident and would hate to come out to just hit a switch and charge me a service charge. WELP! That was just it. Yesterday one of the cables on our garage door broke. Called a couple of local companies at 4:30pm but Allied was the only one to respond.
