I had my last mammogram here. Yes, mammograms are painful - I've had about 25 of them so I kind of know - but the last one was insanely painful. It hurt so much that when I exited, I specifically asked that they put that MRI tech's name on my record as someone I never wanted to deal with again. I also asked that they forward my complaint to management. One year later, it's time to make another appointment. That tech's name is not on my record. I received an email and a text that there was a letter waiting for me from ARA. Ten minutes of dealing with their archaic website only to find out that there was no letter. Just a notification that I have an appointment. They hurt me, ignore me and then they waste my time. I have to ask myself... Why have I trusted these incompetent people with my life? read more

I genuinely wish ARA would reconsider outsourcing its patient call center overseas. The experience has been incredibly frustrating and, at times, nearly impossible to navigate. It is extremely difficult to understand ANY of the representatives, and they seem to have very limited information available to them about patients, appointments, or scheduling. Every time I ask about available appointment times, I'm placed on hold while they apparently try to find the information. It took 35 mins sitting in a parking lot to schedule one MRI. Only available 2 months out. I had to "phone a friend" to help me schedule and we got in 2 days later. I had anxiety calling today just to get a CT scan. Same ridiculous issue. I have four children and have dealt with countless doctors, specialists, and medical offices over the years, and I have never experienced anything this inefficient or frustrating. Trying to schedule with ARA gives me more excruciating pain then my back! It's 2026, ARA Wake up! Healthcare systems should have integrated patient records and online scheduling where patients can see actual appointment availability and book directly. You guys have multiple offices, how are you not efficient here?! Trying to cut costs at the patient's expense is why. I shouldn't have to spend an unreasonable amount of time on the phone just trying to find out what appointment times are available and give someone in India info about my doctor (who called in the request). HE CALLED IT IN! How is this info not in the system? The entire process feels unnecessarily complicated and outdated, especially for patients who are already dealing with pain and health concerns. read more

Was sent to collections without notifying me that I had a bill due. I even have an ARA portal login. I had no idea - found out when I received a text from debt collectors. I called ARA and they said they sent me two paper letters, but never received them. I had my exam with Austin sports medicine and didn't expect a bill from ARA, especially because the imaging center from Austin sports medicine charged me for an MRI on my appointment date. I have USPS informed delivery notifications and I never received anything. My address hasn't changed in years. Had to pay a fee to make the payment to the debt collectors. read more

They supposedly sent a bill in the mail twice, but I never received either one. Instead of emailing, calling, text, or messaging via the portal they force you to use, they immediately sent the bill to a DEBT COLLECTOR! For this reason alone, I will never use ARA again. read more

Check your EOBs and bills carefully. ARA will bill you multiple times for the same service, even after you've paid. Trying to get anyone reasonable on the phone or by email is futile. I've reported them for the double dipping, to both OAG and my insurance company. I'm sure I'm not the only one they're doing this to, and unfortunately a lot of people just pay without double checking. Edit: I see Charlie is trying to earn his paycheck today. Sorry Charlie, I've already wasted enough of my time calling and emailing multiple times only to be gaslit and treated like a liar. The most amazing part is that not only was I emailed a receipt, the portal shows the service as paid. And also not paid at the same time. But the "paid" service is there, clear as day, at least on my end. (see attached.) And as a bonus, I can "download bill," but it's password protected. Went in for an annual mammogram screening and had to return for a diagnostic screening (luckily, all great news!!). I cannot express how wonderful my experiences have been here. The front desk staff and schedulers are so friendly and provide amazing customer service. Whitney, the mammogram technician who performed the diagnostic screening was so calming, patient, and kind. She took her time and the images were captured without incident. She explained the process and made my stress level go from 500 to 90. She even gave me crackers and a juice box. The ultrasound tech (Christy) was friendly and thorough. They too took time with me to explain the process. They even provided me with a hug (at my request) when everything was said and done. The doctor read images in a timely manner without me spending more than a few minutes waiting for results. I feel confident and at ease with the care received. read more

This business's appointment schedule is weeks out. The test was finally performed on April 2. It's now April 21st. My migraine headaches are awful. I called this morning to force a priority move up to receive an analysis of test results, otherwise who knows when the results would've have been released. In two days my Doc should receive the report. We'll see! The purport to have results processed in about three days on the ARA website. It's not gonna happen for you. Good luck!!! read more

We had an appointment today for my mom's foot due to pain and a possible fracture. Two hours before the appointment, the office texted me to say they had to cancel and that I needed to call to reschedule. When I did, the earliest availability they offered was December 30th. It's only the 11th. We checked other providers, and everyone is booked unless we go far outside the city. This is unacceptable . They canceled on us, we did not cancel and yet they offered no real solution. A simple "sorry" doesn't help when my elderly mother needs care for her foot. The lack of accommodation and concern was extremely disappointing. Useless! Uncaring! read more

Can confirm what other reviews noted: 1) bedside manner and professionalism of MRI techs is lacking, and 2) instead of contacting me by phone or email when their paper bill didn't reach me, they sent me to collections. *Super.* I got an MRI here in 2022 and then moved out of state. I didn't hear anything from their billing people until last month, when collections started blowing up my phone. I verified the "debt," dealt with that, and then I checked through my phone records, my emails, and my paper mail files. ARA had never contacted me in that interval. I think everybody in Austin knows the USPS there is overworked and has about given up on forwarding mail. My credit didn't really need the hit, but I take some consolation in knowing that since they sent me to collections ARA will not be getting the full amount. Avoid ARA. I wish I read these reviews before making my appointment, I'll be telling my doctor to stop referring to ARA. Their outsourced scheduling department is terrible as so many other reviews have mentioned. I asked for the first available appointment for my infant, they found one 3 weeks out. 2 weeks later I got several call and voice mails from their Indian call center that was really hard to understand. I got in touch with them and the original appointment was made at a location that doesn't treat infants. I was rescheduled another 3 weeks out (5 weeks from when I first called). ARA Radiology has web pages that discuss its offering of neurological interventionists services. But, apparently, they no longer offer this service and I cannot locate any of the doctors they list. Point 1. As to availability of service, they have too long delays, and they do preemptively change your appointment time but fail to tell you. This happened to my wife this year. She should up on time, as the appointment was stated to occur, and was told she was too late to have it. When she objected and showed them her appointment as sent to her, they replied that they had needed to change it to an earlier time, but somehow had failed to notify her. Point 2 read more

I had a really upsetting experience here during my first-ever MRI. I was being scanned for a knee injury and was never asked if I was comfortable or told how long I'd need to stay in position. After the first scan, I was told I had moved. I explained multiple times that I was experiencing muscle spasms due to the injury and asked if my leg could be propped up. I was told no because the scan had already started. Despite me repeatedly clarifying that the movement was involuntary, the technician kept questioning why I was "twitching." There was no communication before starting a longer scan, and I was in significant discomfort the entire time but didn't feel like I could press the call button without restarting everything. What really crossed a line was after the scan. The technician greeted me with, "Hey, Twitchy," and continued calling me that--even after I explained again that I was having muscle spasms. Before I left, he pulled me aside and asked what my injury was and how I got injured, in a tone that felt accusatory and completely irrelevant to the imaging. He ended by saying I was lucky they were able to capture anything at all. This experience felt dismissive, painful, and dehumanizing. I would not recommend this location to anyone, especially if you're coming in with an injury or need to be treated with basic empathy. read more

ARA as a whole is not a great place. AI answers the phone and they have hired a call center out of the country. Recently, they cancelled my appointment because they scheduled it incorrectly and could not offer me a time before my follow up doctor appointment was scheduled. Never go here. The head of scheduling called me and did not even offer me a different location. No one at the corporate office cares either. I wish people still took pride in their jobs. read more

I went to this ARA for an MRI and it was my favorite imaging experience. The place was clean and quiet, technicians very friendly and helpful and the changing rooms were bigger than other locations. Also, they gave complimentary socks so patients wouldn't need to walk bare feet and for free socks, they were so thick and comfy that I kept them and still use them - they've gone through the washer several times without falling apart. Most importantly though, I appreciate that their pants run big to be inclusive of size. There was also a "you are beautiful" sticker attached to the inside of the mirror which was an affirmation touch. I like ARA in general because of all they cover and the fact that you can ask for your results from any location. That said, I like this location best because of how comfortable I felt there. 10/10 recommend! read more

THE WORST BILLING DEPARTMENT EVER!! I spent 2 hours talking to 3 different people, getting different information, then come to find out they charged off a bill, turned it over to collection (without contacting me) and are now trying to charge me for the same bill that is SEVEN - count them - SEVEN years old!! read more

ARA sent me to collections more than four years after the date of service--without ever sending me a single bill. When I called to ask what was going on, they admitted they had never billed me directly. They told me not to pay the collection agency because they would pull the account back so I could pay them directly without damaging my credit. Weeks went by with no communication, and then the collection suddenly showed up on my credit report. When I called again, they had decided not to pull it back--but, once again, never contacted me to let me know. Their excuse? That they sent the original bill to my insurance and it was my responsibility to reach out to them directly to pay the balance based on my insurances EOB. That is not how responsible billing works. It is completely unreasonable to expect a patient to chase down a bill they were never sent, and even more unethical to tank someone's credit years later without notice or opportunity to pay directly. I have been using ARA at various locations around Austin and Georgetown for the last 15 years. The Austin Center Boulevard location was very convenient and easy to schedule with the central scheduler. I waited in the lobby for a few minutes past my appointment time, but then was quickly taken back for imaging. Rachel was my mammogram technician and she was really nice and efficient. I will probably use the Austin Center Boulevard ARA for future imaging. read more

Be careful to know the tests you're having at ARA Manor. The radiologist, whom I have never met or been examined by, decided to change the tests my doctor ordered. ARA stated they called a nurse, at the wrong location, and got the ok to change my tests. My doctor was not happy. I was appalled at the audacity that they would change tests without letting anyone know before the CT scan was taking place. Just be careful and know your own health records when dealing with ARA. read more

FYI i had a breast ultrasound on 3/31/25. They collected a co pay (which was unusual for a yearly paid service). Today 5/1/25 i finally received my insurance statement showing no cost to me. 2 phone calls later they are reimbursing me. Only because i called! This is criminal. read more

ARA is a total nightmare and an utter disgrace to medicine in Austin. They cancelled my MRI through a text at 7.30pm in the evening and then charged me S107.10. Was on the phone with them for well over two hours getting bounced from here to there. Completely waste of my time and now I have to fight the bank to get the charge removed. Avoid at all cost. They outsource their scheduling and billing and no one seems to know what they are doing. If you have a billing problem good luck as on Nov 1, 2025, they migrated their old billing system over to a new one and of course it is creating huge problems. It's a labyrinth system where you will get bounced from post to pillar by people who barely speak English. The worst customer service experience of my life. Do not waste your time trying to get an appointment with ARA Diagnostic. You are on hold for a lot longer than they tell you. Then they give you an opportunity to change an appointment via a link, which they do not tell you how to get. Lastly, they give you an opportunity to leave your number and they will contact you when a agent is available. I did this and the next available agent was available 10 days from now. The ARA people are great once you are able to schedule an appointment. But getting an appointment is extremely difficult. read more

The person doing the mammogram belittled my questions, and handled me very roughly. I am rating all ARA facilities in Austin. I have Medicare which requires a radiologist be present in the facility when the exam is done. My doctor has ordered an ultrasound of soft tissues. When making an appointment (if you can get through) make sure that the person you speak with can speak The language you speak fluently. It took me over an hour to communicate with my scheduler. He could not understand numbers I had to read to him or my Doctors name. It was an exercise in futility. Then, this morning, I found out that HE GAVE ME THE WRONG DATE. Really ARA, enough is enough. My recommendation is to physically go to a branch and speak to a real person who speaks your language. read more

ARA has gone to an offsite telephone reception program. I tried to schedule an appointment ( with DR orders provided as told) a few months ago for a breast serorma that needed ultrasound aspiration in a timely fashion. However, I was promised a callback or email with a confirmation of the appointment time. That I never got. And calling them again and again got me nowhere. Ultimately my seroma ruptured. Not fun at all! Now a few months later it is back and I am trying to set an appointment with ARA Interventional Department but they aren't answering their phone. I tried for an hour yesterday afternoon and again this morning and the offshore telephone receptionists who act like they can schedule an appointment can't get anything done. As my poor breast expands with fluid and I am more and more uncomfortable and her I sit on the phone on hold again. I live 1.5 hours away from Austin and would rather not have to drive in to set up this appointment. It is pretty sad as their physical staff and technicians are the best when you get through the appointment setting BS. read more

Had an imaging procedure done in 2021. Went to front desk after procedure to check out and they noted that no payment was due. Now in 2025 they sent a bill to collections after NEVER reaching out to me via phone or CORRECT mailing address. They noted that they sent a bill to an incorrect address. I asked if they can pull the debt from the credit collection agency and that I will be happy to pay. I simply never knew as they never contacted me. They noted that the process could take a couple of weeks. I called back after said time and they noted that they DENIED my claim and that I had to pay the collection agency. Again.....NONE of this was MY fault!!!! Truly terrible. Never using them again. Stay away! read more

I drove four hours round trip for a 2:30pm MR Arthrogram. As I was standing at the front desk to check in, they were calling my cell phone to cancel my appointment. They refused to see me for an appointment that I had made three weeks prior and now can't reschedule me for another 2-3 weeks. In fact the person lied and said they had to reschedule my exam, scheduled for the next dat, because MY DOCTOR changed the protocol-not true! They would happily schedule me for the test in 2 weeks! I've been waiting 4 weeks because of the first inept scheduling encounter to rule out a SIGNIFICANT health issue. I requested to speak to a nurse and was transferred to the Round Rock clinic where I was told it was a coding error when the test was scheduled originally and they were able to get me in a day later than originally scheduled! I was scammed by ARA and had to jump through hoops to get refunded for the bogus bill they set. They billed me for $95 saying my insurance wouldn't cover my imaging so I paid it. Later, I realized I had hit my deductible and shouldn't owe anything so I contacted my insurance and they confirmed they paid ARA in full. When I spoke with someone in billing, she apologized and said she'd get me a refund. A few months go by and I don't recieve anything. I call back and they claim they have no record of that conversation because they just changed "billing systems" in November. This person said it would go into review and they would call me back in a week with more information. Three weeks goes by and I call again and they said, "yes, I see here we owe you money, I'll get it taken care of in the system." If I hadn't followed up and checked I never would have been reimbursed. I will be avoiding ARA and will take my business somewhere else with more transparent and responsible billing practices. read more

I usually have a good experience at ARA and believe I will again if I can EVER schedule an appointment. The online portal requires you to receive a code within 24 hours to schedule and if you don't get one, you have to call in. I tried calling in and spoke to two completely incompetent individuals and never got an appointment AND never got to speak with a supervisor because apparently, they are incapable of transferring calls. After I filled out the pre-appointment information forms (exhaustive list and i expected that) I get a text saying I MUST log on and review and confirm the information I just filled out two hours ago. I did. Then 10 hours later, I get a text saying I MUST call them back to confirm my appointment (18 minutes on hold to get someone I could barely understand.) I confirmed to her that I had not changed my name or moved to a new address or had heart surgery etc in the last 10 hours! I did manage to speak to a lovely and helpful woman on site at Austin Center Blvd. and made a bone density appointment. However, mammos weren't available for a few months. After making both appointments together at another service specializing in wimmin, I canceled the ARA appointment and won't be back. It's too bad they moved to an offshore appointment system. On October 25 I had a mammogram at this facility. One week later on November 1 I was advised the results were "inconclusive". As a 2-tone breast cancer survivor this news made me anxious and sleepless. I tried to get a redo of the mammogram and was told that the first available appointment at any of their locations was November 14. I went to see a manager and she gave me am appointment November 13--only a few hours earlier. This is intolerable and cruel. I am suffering and no one, including my breast cancer doctor, care. There is no mechanism for getting repeat exams in a decent timeframe when there is a failure on their part to reach a conclusion. Three weeks to wait for a result is untenable. read more

So disappointed that to save a penny they have started using an overseas call center. The personal service is now gone, when they can barely speak English or understand what I need it is sad and I will start going somewhere else.
