I was honestly appalled by the conversation I had with Julie the other day. My family and I have decided to purchase our first home and just as any first time homebuyers, I looked to the internet to find a firm that we would feel comfortable, well managed and go to bat for us. Julie represented from her mannerisms and rude satire, that this wouldn't be a great fit however I gave her the benefit of the doubt and continued on with my conversation instead of rudely interrupting her right in her tracks. At the beginning of our conversation, we went over a quick overview of financials and I guess I was talking a bit fast or perhaps faster then she can comprehend and she cut me off and said "Woah slow down, you got a lot going". I was really off-put by that remark but perhaps I was indeed talking too fast, HOWEVER, If I was in her shoes I would not have said something along those lines. Reaching out and starting this process can be very nerve wracking and so she should definitely be one to understand that by telling someone what she just said, can make them feel even more tense. But whatever, I continued on and we were discussing some old financial situations that I wanted to disclose and she sarcastically remarked "and you wanna buy a house?". I was ASTONISHED by that comment! It is one thing to educate a borrower gently that buying a home might not be feasible but another thing to try and talk one out with a Ill-mannered and disgusting assumption! Just some insight on my family's and I financials situation, we can afford a house twice the cost of the average home if we really wanted too but have maybe just a bit more of an interesting file then a normal cut and dry w2 co signer ship. That was the final straw for me but I was cordial and wanted to make it seem it was worth her time to take my call but I was pretty much done with asking her anymore questions that pertained to a home at this point. My last question was "What differentiates your firm from others or is there something that your company does that adds comfort to buyers choosing you". All Julie has to say was "I think our reviews speak for themselves". She didn't have an ounce of pride for her company or even tried to turn this conversation around with trying to vouch for herself or their services. I can't believe this person has the chance to talk to other potential buyers! I have tough skin but there is people out there that maybe have a bit more sensitive demeanor or not as strong of a file that she is talking to and I'm not okay with that! Avoid this place or at least avoid Julie. I have since spoke with 3 more lenders/brokers who have been the utmost professional, pleasant and have described the same file as "not a problem", who have also put faith and confidence into their company/brand when asked "why choose them."
